So this is my first PC build, I am a computer science student in the north east of England with an interest in gaming. I am wanting to build a PC for gaming as well as for general stuff like school work. i have a budget of just above £1000 (around $1350) this includes the price for windows 10. my current idea is: CPU-Intel i5 6600k £215 CPU Cooler-(undecided but I am planning on slightly overclocking my CPU) Motherboard-Asus Z170-A 1151 £140 RAM-kingston HyperX black 8gb set £50 HHD-Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB Internal Hard drive SSD-Boot drive-Samsung 750 EVO 120GB SSD GPU-Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1070 £450(but its always on sale down to £400) Case-NZXT S340 £60 PSU-Corsair 550 Watt VS550 ATX PSU £40 OS-windows 10-£85 Network card-Corsair 550 Watt VS550 ATX PSU/Power Supply Unit £15 Extra fans-corsair SP120 twin pack £18 just wondering what people think and suggestions for the CPU cooler, I would also appreciate any replacements for parts as I am a bit of a newb to all this.

originally do pcs have a lot of cables plugged in to the back of the pc? My question is, does your pc have a lot of cables plugged into the back? or is it just me like router cables, modem, original pc stuff, monitors just wondering, looks like a mess anyone know a method for cable management?

currently i have my ps4 plugged into my tv. whenever i play call of duty the connection is a 4 bars meaning good but when i use my phone for wifi while playing with the ps4 online the connection drops down to a red bar meaning bad can i use an old pc "with its own separate modem and router" for the ps4 and the other pc "also has its own modem and router"for general wifi for things such as; phone, etc...? can this even work? because its still the same "wifi" its not like i'm paying for two separate wifis. i want to know if i give the ps4 its own router and modem will it have a better effect. or do i just have to suck it up and pay more for my wifi bill i tried connecting the ps4 to my pc with a ethernet cable but whenever i do that my pc doesnt have wifi only the ps4, or does that mean something is wrong with my pc. i can try connecting it to the laptop? idk if it will work any suggestions?

Hey guys so I just recently got my pic parts for my first pc and set it up today when I hit power it turns on fans spin the stock fan and graphics cards fan also spin but no display pops up any idea how I could fix it? Any help would be appriciated

Hi, So I have a page with a notification icon in the top, it also has a badge over it with numbers of notifications found in the database for that user (refresh the page and it will update if there is a new notification) Now how can I have it update etc every 30 sec? or every min? Where can I learn about this or find a snippet that works for most things? I know nothing about how this works and would be really happy if someone could tell me about it or point me in the right direction

I'm a first year in CS with a few questions to find an ideal PC. Which specs to go for? Reliable brands, things to avoid. Should and how can I back up my files? External SSD, NAS, both? which ones are particularly reliable? So currently my setup is an i5-9400f, 1070, 16gb ddr4 ram, an ASRock B365M Phantom Gaming 4, two 60hz 1080p monitors, 1tb m.2 and 1tb HDD, I was curious what people think would be a good upgrade? I keep going back and forth, and I'm hoping someone might even mention something I've forgotten. Any and all help would be appreciated, as well as specific products you might recommend!

(I know it's somehow related to pip but that's all I know) What are some python GUIs/Game Engines with high customization? (and good looking) other than tkinter, kivy and pygame. EDIT: The Game Engine Part is to use in 2d Does anyone know a good tutorial for SKLearn? Would a external amp and dac improve the standard $50 headphones? I want some thoughts and suggestions on the the scenarios i will list. Some things i am somewhat set on already and unless presented with a better option at a better price for same features or better or within $10-$20 So its been since 4770k since my last build which i no longer have and i am planning a new build for middle of february. Uses: What everyone uses computers for, Plex Server, Some gaming older title and some newer at 1440p 75hz, VM's as i am finishing my BS in Cyber Security, Be able to run at least 2-3 VMs Windows Server, ESXi, Ubuntu, and i sometimes run a couple Windows Images for testing purposes. I also route all my internet traffic through ICS but plan on switching to Bridge Connection once this build is complete. I transcode video daily at most 10 a day output H264 NVEnc very slow at about 4000kbps bitrate and consistent frame rate I currently use a my laptop for everything listed above which is a Dell 7559 i7 6700hq, 4gb gtx 960m, 16gb ddr3, 256gb ssd and 2tb internal and a bunch of 1-2tb external drive for plex and storage. Budget is going to be around $2000-$2200 I have been going through 3 different routes and looking doing a 9900k system, 2700x ryzen, or doing a used Dual Xeon E5-2xxx v2 system. I have a microcenter not to far away and just looking for the best bang for my buck to get what I want done. I hope this gives everyone enough insight and idea what i looking to do. Which would be better , i5 9400f or R5 3500 , if I want to pair it with GTX 1660Ti for gaming and a bit of editing/streaming maybe??? Or should I go with R5 3600 get some cheaper graphics card??

I'll be, obviously, gaming and doing some twitch streaming here and there so was wandering if those extra 2 cores will be worth the extra $$$ both for now and over time? Hello, I’m a brand new PC builder. So I’m currently building a pc. I finished putting everything in place and connected the cables to where they need to be. When I plugged in my PSU and pressed the switch and the computer power button the fans barely moved then stopped (case fans and graphics card fans). Does this mean the PSU is dead?

So i was just in the middle of reformatting my sister's computer and when i got to looking for the Chrome installer on internet explorer, well guess what, it WON'T show lol All it pops up is a bar at the top saying EDGE is the best browser and you don't need anything else, it won't even show the google page, talk about desperate much

as anyone with a broken would i go to google and search for a repair guide for lgvs450pp or optimus exceed two and i get nothing. nothing on youtube nothing on ifixit but yet the replacement screens are super common. idk what to do but i dont wanna spend $100 to fix my phone, please help if you know anything on how to fix tell me

Hello All. I have done a fair amount of research but I'm still stuck as to weather spending $1000 is really necessary for what I want to be doing. I will be using this pc for gaming: Arma 3, Skyrim, and I am sure I will want to get some future titles too. Also, I will be using it to do some basic photoshop work: some basic editing of raw photos. Finally I will be doing the usual internet browsing, document typing (on word) and music listening. I will definitely be getting a custom pre built, because I don't have the time or headspace to learn how to build right now, and the parts I have been considering are as follows: CPU: I7 6700 3.4ghz Video Card: NVIDA GTX 960 4GB RAM: 16GB Corsair Veng. (2x 8gb) HardDrive: 250gb SSD (looking to add more storage in the future) In short, please let me know if you think this is overkill for what I want to be doing. So the other day all my port forwarding settings disappeared and when i tried to add them back it said port forwarding name is already in use. The router is 3-ish years old. I reset the firmware today and everything worked until some of my settings disappeared again. They don't work after they disappear. Some people on other websites said that it could be the ip changing but ip's have changed before and nothing has happened and i just changed the IP, but everything on my network has a static IP except mobile devices. I cant figure out why this keeps happening... is it time to get a new router?
