So I just bought the laptop in title and noticed it is not using dgpu (RTX2060) in games. I’m getting around 30-60 fps in games with a tender latency being around 70 ms (very high). I tried all the nvidia options that should make the laptop use dgpu but nothing. I tried fumark bench the gpu and I get 30-40 fps. Then I decided to use heaven benchmark using the dx11 option and everything on highest settings. The result was 110-150 fps, and render latency was by some miracle 5-7 ms. No stuttering or anything. In the games completely different results. My guess is that there is something wrong with Optimus since I don’t have mux switch. Did anyone have some problem like this?

I have ASUS ROG GL522VW laptop CPU : 6700HQ GPU : 960M I recently used liquid metal but before my CPU temp was reaching instant 90°C and starts throttling while gaming and GPU at 80°C because at 80°C it throttle and temp don't go more than that now i have used liquid metal and CPU + undervolt of -0.120V temp still go same 90°C but take a while like 20 min or so 90°C if i play too long keep shifting between 80-90°C depend on different games and if i want low temps like 70-80°C while gaming i need to slow down CPU speed by disabling it's bost, when it don't bost up to 3.10GHz while gaming stuck at 2.50GHz speed,,, and low temps i was expecting it will not exceed 70-80 while gaming at full 3.10GHz but any help and Laptop has only one heatsink so i should expect this performance or it should be better anything that can help me low the max temp or anyone has same laptop and has used liquid metal can share his results with me thanks

So, I would like some help on undervolting my i7 8750H in my GX531GW. It reaches around 77-85 C while gaming and maintains 3.914 mhz. While doing the intel stress test on the extreme tuner app, I got thermal and power limit throttling. Thermal throttling was not that much frequent as power limit throttling. So I would like to know if anyone has done thins undervolt and how does it work with the already existing hyperfan modes? And of course would it void my warranty?

I bought ASUS FX505GD laptop. It's been 10 days, it was working fine but when I turned yesterday evening the laptop doesn't bootup. I tried installing windows but the SSD won't showup when selecting the partition where windows must be installed. It is INTEL SSD 512GB. The ssd shows up in the BOOTMENU but not in the windows installation media. I even tried reparing/resetting the windows startup through installation media but it just doesn't work.

It looks like Lenovo, the world's largest maker of consumer PCs, is going to acquired more and more companies. After acquiring IBM's pc and server business, NEC's pc business, Motorola and others, it seems Lenovo's next target would be MSI's gaming notebook business. In recent years gaming notebook started to become a trend in the notebook market. According to Digitime's article, demand for traditional notebooks has been weakening, sales of gaming notebooks and related peripherals have been growing and contributing strong profits. This year we can see gaming become the focus of PC manufacturers. For example Acer has entered the gaming market with the Predator brand, while Asus unveiled several new ROG-branded gaming notebooks, and Alienware launched the Alienware Graphics Amplifier alongside new gaming notebooks, which they said it will "deliver desktop-class, high-performance gaming graphics even to our most mobile laptop". Thus according to DIGITimes's article, Lenovo wanted to "raise its competitiveness in the gaming notebook industry", and believed the fastest way to achieve that is to acquire MSI's gaming notebook business. And it may not be a bad thing for MSI to sell their gaming notebook business, as some market watchers said. They said MSI may face strong competition from Dell, Acer and Asus in the gaming notebook market in the near future, and selling their gaming notebook business would allow them to put their focus back on to their motherboard and server business. Lenovo didn't comment on this rumor, while Kitguru reported that MSI denied the rumor, saying they don't have any intention to sale the gaming notebooks business unit. They quoted words from a spokesman from MSI in UK, Kitguru also reported that MSI recently announced partnerships with several U.S.-based system integrator partners like iBuyPower, XoticPC, GentechPC, and PowerNotebook, to customize and upgrade its high-end notebooks. It doesn't look like MSI is getting serious in gaming notebook business with agreements like that. Thus I too don't think MSI would sell their gaming notebook business. Do you think Lenovo should acquire MSI's gaming notebook business? Should MSI sell it? http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/anton-shilov/lenovo-interested-in-taking-over-msi-gaming-laptop-business/ http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150515PD208.html

Hello everyone, My Problem: Notebook reboots itself without warning. Event log: 6008 I’m from Brazil (sorry for my english) and i have the same notebook as MSI Laptop GT Series GT780DX-406US (its sold in a different brand here). Motherboard : MSI MegaBook GT780/GT783/GX780 Series (MS-1761) Bios Version: AMI (08/15/2011) CPU: I7 2670QM 2400mhz (With turbo boost disabled on bios) GPU: GeForce GTX570m 1.5gb (MSI) (stock clock) Memory: 2 x 4gb Kingston 9905428-089.a00g HDD: Samsung SSD 840 250gb OS: Windows 8.1 (with all the recommended updates) Story/Progress: My computer started to reboot itself without warning and keeps rebooting like 1 or 2 times… then it boots on windows. The event log i got when it happens - ID: 6008 (screenshot attached) And when it reboots when booting windows i got the kernel power ID: 41. The reboots happened when i was gaming… so i thought it was overheating issues of some sort. I cleaned the notebook inside changed the termal paste(twice) on the GPU and CPU (my cpu i already disabled the turbo boost because it overheats) I did some stress tests and the temperatures is normal bellow the TJmax) Then the other day i booted and started using chrome, watching youtube videos and reboots itself again. I thought it was GPU issue but the computer was still cold and gpu temperatures was in 47 degrees Celsius. I Did some benchmakrs with furmark, aida64 stress tests, etc. The computer worked fine in the time i was stress testing.. when i stopped and started doing other things, the computer started rebooting itself again. I formatted my SSD with a fresh windows install, kept rebooting… i changed to another HD(optical) with one memory Stick at a time.. at first i thought it was fine ( i played like 6 hours of League of legends and 1 hour of skyforge) in the other day i booted my computer and started playing skyForge for 1 hour then i left my computer AFK for 30min(still in the game) i resume playing after 1min the computer Rebooted itself. ( It happens connected in the power and in the battery) I already sent to to the technical assistance of my reseller, they said they were not sure and thought it is a memory dim and the graphics card (invoice: R$2000 ~= 750 USD) to buy another 4gb stick and a GTX570m to replace. I refused the replacement of those components because it was expensive and i think it’s not worth for a old notebook like mine. So now i’m trying to troubleshoot again.. and asking the internet for help. I already stress tested the memory, cpu and gpu all seems to work fine, only sometimes it rebooted when doing furmark. Any ideias or suggestions of what can i do?

Is this laptop any good? It preforms almost as well as an ASUS laptop with 880m according to research. I need a mobile PC and I found this nice and fairly affordable laptop. Is it any good? PS. Its less than half the price of any comparable laptop (in performance).

I have never bought a notebook before and I'm having some trouble! I've only ever had my desktop PC's that I've made myself and because of that I'm having trouble buying a premade machine that meets my expectations. I started this search because I need a notebook for work. So originally I set out with a price range of ~$2,000 and was looking in the "Ultrabook" ranges namely at the X1 Carbon Thinkpad. Which with these EOFY sales I can get the top or the range model + Office for within my price range. But then the enthusiast inside me awoke and I found myself looking at performance grade notebooks and it's all been down hill from there. I currently am drooling over the new Razer Blade with 3K display and a 870M. But it only sports a 128GB SSD and it's $1,300 out of my price range but realistically I would want a model with a bigger SSD so even more out of it. Where as the X1 Carbon is well within my price range with a 512GB SSD + Longer battery life (not to mention super fast charging) but lacks the power of The New Razer. But do I really need that extra power for a work notebook? Obviously no but as a gamer I can't help but feel that it would be nice to have.. But is that worth upping my budget that much just for that bonus? The New Razer Blade seems like my only option for a sleek gaming notebook that still has a decent (for a gaming notebook) battery life. Anyone have any input? tl;dr: I need a work notebook but I'm really tempted by a more powerful but way out of my budget notebook and wan't to have a discussion about it with other like minded people to see if I should bother. I realise this is needlessly long, but I'm terrible with decision making and want to get my thought process out there. Thanks for any input!

Full Article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2014/01/05/say-hello-to-lenovos-4k-gaming-and-entertainment-laptop/ Say Hello To Lenovo's 4K Gaming And Entertainment Laptop Lenovo is poised to launch a new line of gaming and entertainment laptops featuring 4K displays and a new generation of mobile GPUs from AMD and Nvidia. Lenovo is unleashing a ton of new product at this year’s annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and it’s my job to highlight the standouts. Lenovo’s Y50 laptop with its striking red-accented keyboard and 4K display? That’s a standout alright. Yep, I said 4K. Lenovo’s upcoming Y50 series laptop crams a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution into a 15.6″ display. While the 4K eye candy is an optional step up from the $999 baseline model, the 1920 x 1080 variant will finally give users the choice to have a touchscreen. Believe it or not, Windows 8 touchscreen laptops and gaming have barely (if ever) been uttered in the same sentence. In fact, it’s been rare to see touch options on gaming-focused Windows 8 notebooks. Here’s what I know about the Y50 as it relates to gaming. This model looks like the spiritual successor to the Y500, a shockingly affordable gaming laptop I purchased last year and utterly adore. Lenovo is also debuting the Y40, a step down from the Y50, and that notebook features the as-of-yet unannounced AMD R9 M270 4GB mobile graphics card. The spec sheet I received for the Y50 lists only an unspecifiedNvidia NVDA -0.13% GTX card. It would stand to reason that if the Y50 featured an existing Nvidia mobile GPU, it would be listed. My hunch is that Nvidia will announce a new and improved mobile graphics card tonight at their press conference, and I’ll wager it’s optimized for 4K video playback and gaming (albeit it at low or medium quality settings). More than likely it’s the GeForce 800 series based on the Maxwell architecture, which is a known quantity on Nvidia’s roadmap. Either way, this could breathe a surge of new life into gaming notebooks, and may set a precedent for ridiculously sharp 4K displays. Hey, whether or not we need Ultra HD on a 15-inch screen isn’t what CES is all about! Here are the confirmed specs for Lenovo’s Y50 laptop: Processor: Up to 4th generation Intel INTC +0.91% Core i7 OS: Windows 8.1 Display and Resolution: Optional 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution or standard 1920 x 1080 with touch or non-touch Memory: Up to 16GB RAM Storage: Up to 1TB hard drive or 1TB hybrid storage with integrated 8GB SSD cache, or a 512GB pure SSD Keyboard: Optional backlit keyboard with AccuType rounded keys Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 b/g/n or ac WiFi Battery Life: Estimated 4 hours Weight: 4.7 pounds for non-touch, 5.7 pounds for touch version Right now it’s not clear whether or no the 4K display option can also be built with a touch display. Hopefully I’ll have some hands-on time with this and other Lenovo products in the very near future on the CES floor. Stay tuned for much more CES coverage and hands on impressions with these and a plethora of other devices from the show floor. Continue the conversation by following me on Twitter.
