Hello, I'm having trouble deciding what budget gaming laptop to get. I don't need anything high end but I want to have the capabilities to play Rust and a few other lighter games like minecraft and wolfQuest (my sisters are interested). My budget really only allows me to get upwards of $500-$700. I've already have found these with some light research of my own, but can't decide if I should jump in on either of these. Thanks!!

Hello, I own a 2018 model Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 that I had been using for my gaming and workload purposes so far. I have ran into many issues with it in the past and managed to solve/mitigate them. I was content with my laptop and its performance was almost equal to what I expect from it. I even used third party softwares like ThrottleStop and Afterburner to improve its performance within safe margins. I only owned AAA racing titles like Forza Horizon 5 and I had a comfortable 50 FPS on average with medium-high 1080p graphics settings and when I monitored my hardware through Acer Nitrosense, I could see the GPU being used at 100% rate which is what it should be like during gaming/workload sessions and CPU staying below 90% usage. Though recently, I ran into an unique problem that suddenly appeared out of nowhere just before the new year. Now when I play the same game with same graphics settings, I can barely get to around 40 FPS featuring lots of stutters/fluctuations, sometimes dropping to even 30 FPS during the fluctuations. When I monitor my hardware with Acer Nitrosense, I was able to see an unusually high CPU usage that is almost always hitting 100% usage and GPU usage constantly fluctuating between 80% and 100%. This has never happened to my laptop before during my 3.5 years of daily usage. I suspected a crypto-mining malware running in the background and did full scans with Malwarebytes. I even did a memory dump to Intezer Analysis to see if there are any known malwares were running in the background but found nothing. I was also suspicious of my hardware running out of its lifespan due to the usage of ThrottleStop and Afterburner but I never touched the stock GPU voltages, had incremental overclocked core and memory values on the GPU(190+Mhz on core, 200+Mhz on memory) and had an undervolted CPU by -0.150 offset. My temperatures were also fine, 89C on CPU and 82C on GPU under heavy-load, had only 91C GPU hotspot according to HWinfo64. My storage health is fine according to CrystalDiskInfo, no bad sectors in either of my storages. My drivers are updated too. I couldn't find anything else. I cannot specify what is the matter with my laptop. I am also suspicious of performance loss in other games that I used to play like NFS Payback, since I could see the similar CPU-GPU usage patterns when playing it after the problem arose. Is there anything I can do to specify what is wrong with my CPU, or if there is anything wrong with it at all? I am really in need of advice here. I will submit a picture showing the usage and temperatures of both my CPU and GPU during my Forza Horizon 5 online gaming session so you can have an idea(CPU above, GPU below). The game I mentioned didn't receive any updates just before the problem appeared either. Here are my laptop specs: Intel i5 8th gen i5-8300H(Limited Turbo Boost to 3.0GHZ with ThrottleStop) NVIDIA GTX 1050TI 4GB GDDR5 2x8GB 2666Mhz DDR4 SK Hynix-Crucial RAM 128GB SK Hynix M.2 SSD 1TB 5400 RPM Toshiba HDD No idea about my motherboard, never checked. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit operation system

Hello! I need to buy a new laptop, as the battery life on my 2020 razer blade stealth is not cutting it for me in graduate school anymore. I originally bought the blade thinking I will game sometimes, but I have a real desktop now, (3080 + 5800X3D), so I don't need a laptop with a gpu. I do however, want a120hz screen, as I have gotten used to the smoothness and 60hz just doesn't do it for me. Good battery life is also a must. My price range is up to 1800 dollars. Looking for recommendations! Thanks

I have never played any PC games ever and am looking forward to buy myself a new gaming laptop that can run most games like Cyberpunk 2077 smoothly. I was able to find a ASUS ROG Strix G15 with Ryzen 7 6800H, RTX 3050, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, for exactly $1200. But there’s an even cheaper version with R7 4600H, RTX 3050ti and 16GB DDR4 available on Amazon. I am confused what should I get and need your help. Furthermore, I would also like to know if there are even better alternatives available for the same price or cheaper. Apart from gaming I also plan to use it for video editing in Premiere + AE along with music production.

So I've been getting crashes and bsods like crazy for the past 2 days. After wrecking my head on this a lot and even resetting my oc the problem was found to be one of the ram slots. The laptop has 2 ram lots both with an 8gb stick for a total of 16gb. So, I did testing with just one ram stick and found out that bitch sticks worked fine in one slot but as soon as they were put in the other one It crashed immediately. Does this mean a bad ram slot? What's the solution to this? And it's the secondary ram slot thats causing problems.

Hello! I have a Strix G15 (6800m) and I want to upgrade my memory because the current stock RAM it comes with has very high latency and as Jarrods Tech pointed out upgrading the RAM to something faster will get around a 20% performance boost since my all-AMD system is very reliant on low latency RAM. Considering something like this, Timetec 16GB KIT(2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz (DDR4-3200) PC4-25600 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL22 1Rx8 Single Rank 260 Pin SODIMM forAMD and Intel Gaming Laptop Notebook PC Computer Memory RAM Module Upgrade at Amazon.com, or this TEAMGROUP Elite DDR4 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz PC4-25600 CL22 Unbuffered Non-ECC 1.2V SODIMM 260-Pin Laptop Notebook PC Computer Memory Module Ram Upgrade - TED416G3200C22DC-S01 at Amazon.com What are youre guys thoughts? Hi, I'm currently using TUF Gaming FX505DU(Windows 10 x64)and I've been getting these weird sudden frame drops whenever I'm playing games. It's not a normal frame drops as the fps drop usually just occured for a few seconds before climbing back up to stable fps again. For example, Overwatch on High settings, I would usually get around 110+ stable fps in all maps n combat scenes, after playing for around 30 minutes, the fps would suddenly drop to unplayable frames(10~15fps) for about 5 to 6 seconds before climbing back to 100+fps again. This drop happened around once every 30 minutes of gaming session. And no it's not just Overwatch, pretty much just every game I play (CSGO/PD2). Also, I just got this laptop about just a month ago, so it's still brand new. Here is my current SPECS of the laptop: Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (8 CPUs), ~2.3GHz Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1660 Ti: AMD Radeon(TM) RX Vega 10 Graphics Storage: 1TB of HDD ;500GB of SSD Memory: 16GB DDR4 Dual Channel Screen: 15.6" 1920x1080 120Hz And here is the methods/solution that I have tried to fix the issue: 1.Update Windows 10 to latest version 2.Update both AMD and NVIDIA drivers to latest version 3.Update everything in the Device Manager to latest version 4.Update the ASUS BIOS to latest version (310) 5.Clean REINSTALL of both drivers using DDU Uninstaller 6.Disable Full Screen Optimization 7.Disable Delivery Optimization 8.Full Scan using Anti-Virus 9.Getting latest version of every ASUS software from official site (Armoury Crate,Realtek, etc)

My friend asked me on which laptop he should buy for his animation class. it's between OMEN by HP 15-dc1111tx and OMEN by HP 15-dc1077tx. The 111tx use i7-9750H and GTX 1660 ti while the 1077tx use i5-9300H and RTX 2060. He's a casual gamer, and don't play many esports games.

Some background: I've been rocking my M6700 and Custom SFF AMD PC for a while now and both have always had their fair share of issues but I was really happy with the performance of them for the most part. Between my laptop's ruined battery and weird problems caused by the custom GPU and it's age (oh and the dock being trash) I decided to start searching for a new machine to be my daily laptop, I don't want to get rid of this precision but I need something I know won't just randomly die or require hours of troubleshooting. I looked around on eBay until I stumbled upon an auction about to end for a Mech-17 with the 2070 Max-P and 9750h, I was looking for anything on a good deal that met my weird requirements (listed below) and this fit just about all of them. I also decided to switch over to it completely and probably sell or trade the parts from my desktop because the laptop is just as fast if not faster in just about everything. Requirements I need for a laptop (I know it's weird but I use laptops as desktop replacements so...) The ability to hook up 2 1080p HDMI monitors and 1 1080p 144Hz Displayport monitor (+HDMI for an Oculus Rift if possible) at least 2 M.2 NVMe slots (one for the SSD and one for eGPU eventually or second SSD if I can't get the eGPU to work) 17 inch screen, I had a 15.6" laptop but much prefer the 17" ones. lots of the USB connectivity Ethernet (I use it too often) Pros Port selection Doesn't have Thunderbolt but other than that it has strong I/O even for a 17" machine, it might not have as many USBs or display outputs as my docked M6700 but it still has 2 USB 3.0 type As and 1 Type C (and 1 2.0 type A) as well as an HDMI 2.0 and 2 (Mini) Displayport 1.4. Also has gigabit ethernet and 2 audio jacks Performance My model is equipped with the 2070 Max-P, performance is almost on par with the desktop 2070 because of Eluktroboost (from what I found it's a hardware mod that allows for more power draw than stock Nvidia cards allow) Firestrike (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/48322466) Firestrike Ultra (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/48328939) The 9750h has a power limit (1 & 2) of 100W! which is insane but mine is having a weird spread in temps between cores (some cores are sitting at 95c while other are only in the mid 70s), mine also has liquid metal so I wonder if it has shifted off of part of the die slightly or something else. I'll probably re-apply more liquid metal at some point but for now it's fine. Features Kind of similar to port selection but it also has some nice to haves like a 144hz screen, large trackpad and mechanical keyboard (some people report mixed feelings about it but I actually really like it) and it has a numpad The screen is great, the colours are way better than my old 120hz TN equipped M6700. Sadly there is no fingerprint reader however there is a windows hello equipped camera which works really well. It can unlock within a few seconds even when I'm sitting like 3 feet from the machine while it's on the desk. Cons I don't really have that much to complain about, mine doesn't have the smaller battery with a 2.5" hdd mount but that is an option. One con I do have is the price of parts, I'm used to dell business machines where the battery is a like $30 part but I can't find the smaller battery on eBay and directly from Eluktronics it's $115+shipping so I just got a 4TB external drive for basically the same price. Other than that, their support has been really nice to my questions about parts and about the weird spread in temps. That's it for now I believe.

in the market for a gaming laptop and looking for some suggestions This is what i'm thinking for specs: - I7 - 9th gen - 16GB of RAM (although something that comes with a 1 x 8GB ram stick (DDR4 2666) would work as i have a spare to use) - HDD/SSD drive size not critical as i have a 512Gb one to slide in if needed - ideally supports an M.2 NVME drive even if it does not come with one - Graphics RTX 2060 for some longevity Although i'm looking for a laptop its most likely never going to be used as such it will just be more or less a desktop i can easily switch out accessories on. I work from home and during the day I need to have my work laptop connected to my monitors etc. but after i'm done work i'd like to switch to my personal laptop. although i'm using a USB-C docking station i have the option to switch to a thunderbolt dock if needed (work laptop support thunderbolt). I also have a sit/stand desk which makes a desktop difficult to manage even if i came up with a different solution to switch between both devices (switching inputs on the monitors etc.) I've sort of had my eye on a Lenovo Y540 which I've seen in the $1400-$1500 CAD range on the odd sale, but as it does not have thunderbolt i'm not sure I will get the graphics working via the USB-C docking station and i need to look at a thunderbolt model laptop. My monitors only support 1080p so i think the USB-C dock will work. Lastly i'm looking for some recommendation of online stops to keep an eye on for sales etc. I'm checking RFD hoping they catch most other sales but you never know.

Acer Nitro 5 or Asus TUF FX505DT? I’m looking for budget gaming laptops, and I’ve come across two in particular have caught my attention. However, I’m not too sure which one to get. They’re both within my price range, with the ASUS being £50 more expensive. The only thing I really know is graphics cards, and the Acer has a GTX1050 and the ASUS has a GTX1650, so I think in terms of graphics the ASUS is better. If anyone knows the answer as to which one is better, I’d appreciate any help. Also, if anyone has ideas for a better product around the 650-750 price range, I’d also appreciate that.

I have a somewhat decent gaming laptop that is under performing due to such low gpu usage (9%-30% while gaming) and high cpu usage (80%-90% while gaming). It has 16 gb of ddr4 ram at 2600mhz, I7 7700Hq 2.7ghz, Gtx 1050ti 4gb vram and every single game i play it under performs severely. I have done just about anything to fix this besides going to my local micro center witch i kinda the last option because money is a little tight right now. I have overclocked, undervolted, configured NVIDIA control panel, installed latest drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, factory reset the laptop. My temps are really high cpu can hit upwards of 87C and gpu no higher than 85C. Now when i say underperforming i mean fortnite on lowest settings possible running at 40fps, Gta 5 running at 20fps low settings. My friend has a laptop with the exact same specs as mine but seems to run fortnite lowest settings at 140-160 fps constant Gta 5 online medium 60-50fps. I have looked every where and the solution i find is to factory reset the pc or to install new drivers and tweak nvidia control panel. I have done each of these multiple times and nothing has worked. Does anyone know whats could be happening. Anyways thank you all.

This is my first post ever, so I'm sorry if I make any mistakes. I'm looking to buy a new gaming laptop. I had pretty much set my mind on Alienware m15 r2. CPU: i7 9750H | GPU: RTX 2060 | RAM: 16gb | 1TB SSD | Display: 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) 240Hz Since the release of Asus G14, I am conflicted whether I should go for the new AMD chipset or not. My primary reason for choosing AW, in spite of the bad reviews regarding thermals and no option to upgrade, is that it looks better I will be primarily using my laptop for Gaming Browsing Unity3D Occasionally writing code (I have a Macbook Pro which I use primarily for programming though) My main concern for choosing a laptop is Assuming that both laptops have almost the same specs, will the CPU affect the performance of any of the tasks I mentioned? If so, how much will the performance of the CPU vary? For gaming, will the CPU affect the gaming performance and the thermal performance (assuming that they have the same GPU and I have undervolted the AW) Could someone please help me decide which one I should go for? Thank you!!!

why would somebody buy a high end gaming laptop for about 1000+ dollars just to play a damn game, now sure its not just games maybe you want to play and record games, or maybe just wants to edit something on the go, well let me just point out the "plot hole" in these machines, first off -you can game perfectly fine with a gtx 1060 or 1050ti or even lower with an i7 cpu on medium setting or high, hell im playing with my school laptop here with ryzen 5 with a low end vega 8 and play games smooth with low setting on 60 fps, sure you might say, "but, what about recording and gaming will my fps drop?" or "what if i can't edit or create something with that specs?" well here are these "plot holes" that im trying to point out -GPU doesn't affect editing, such things as photoshop, davinci resolve, windows movie maker, coding,VM,Emulators etc, is tottaly fine though, actually all of that can be solved by buying a good cpu,3d editing not so much BUT, +you can just buy and build yourself a PC with a higher end GPU for a lower cost than the laptop -CPU may be the only thing what you SHOULD worry about, because you will not be able to open multiple program if the core threads is not enough -RAM this is similar to cpu which if you don't have enough ram you can't open multiple program at once, hence is very important to get a 16gb of it +Oh did i mention that many laptop have soldered GPU or CPU? yes, and this is the biggest "plot holes" in every laptop not just gaming, lets just have a couple of scenarios i can think of what might happen with GAMING laptop "oh no my high end gaming laptop is OVERHEATING" no shit sherlock since high end gpu and cpu draws more power. "oh no my laptop exploded" are you going to contact the horrible customer services and having no laptop for a couple week without expecting a bullshit problem with the customer services? or maybe your warranty expired, got voided for opening your laptop for adding rams, OR you just straight up doesn't know what to do? great buy a high gaming laptop all of these problems can be solved if you just take your time and build a high end gaming PC beause with pc you: -can buy a high end gpu, cpu, ram, etc, for CHEAPER and you can also CHOOSE the specs for what you need without having a hassle to buy a new laptop -if something breaks you have lots of warranties for each part, with laptop you only have 1 -"oh no my high end gaming PC is OVERHEATING" there are many cooling solution for pc,such as liquid cooling, adding more fans, etc, on laptop you just have:reapplying thermal paste, cooling pad, undervolting. now lets talk about diffrent things that affect gaming. -WIFI on gaming is shit tried it on my laptop couldn't get a stable ping instead just 200+pings on every game but download speed are fast, not for gaming -Ethernet though you have stable pings but might cost you the mobility heck WHAT IF you can just have a WIFI that have built in ethernet cable? that would be great having a laggy pc doesn't mean you have bad specs you just have bad internet/wifi well with that said let me just point out the main problems: - many laptops have soldered gpu and cpu because of greedy company brands. - high end laptops tends to have overheating problems. - shitty customer service handling your warranties - not worth buying a high end gaming laptop just to game, low end gaming laptops are perfectly fine on low/meium setting, also wifi are shit for gaming with all that said, why would you even game on high setting on a laptop on the go? kind of a wierd fetish. in my experience the most important part for gaming are -playability. -stable internet connection.

Hi, I am planning on purchasing a gaming laptop. I was concerned about How future proof would it be and its Capacity of running games in 2024. As we can see now that Gaming laptops costing 1500$ in 2012-13 can hardly play titles from 2017. I wanted to ask What specs do a laptop need so that I'd play Major AAA titles for atleast next 5 years. I have my Eyes on Acer Predator Helios 300. I haven't played major titles like AC odyssey, Horizon zero dawn, Metro exodus, Rainbow Six, COD latest titles. I know that Helios can play these games seamlessly with fully utilising the 144Hz display and 1660Ti. Alongside these titles from past 10 years which I've missed, I also want to play All latest AAA titles. I 've only played games at 30FPS so everything would be amazing to me as I've been told. Which Laptop would be best for such future endeavours ? My Budget is around 1500$. I am willing to wait but I want best possible options available now or if there are any future laptops coming which'd fit in my budget and would be able to Run Games flawlessly for next 5-6 years. Your Help is appreciated.

Well let me first give you the low down of what I have! I have what you can call a really outdated gaming PC I have 8gb Ram with a 2nd gen i7 and a Nvidia 660GTX and I'm rocking a standard def old flat screen. Now my issue is this do I build myself a new desktop including new monitor and keyboard or do I buy a gaming laptop? Now normally I'd say desktop but hear me out! I travel between 3 places my mums and my dads and my girlfriend's place and I work 7 days in a row. There isn't space for a desktop at either my mums or my girlfriend's place so if I went desktop this would limit me to less time to use my desktop. However the idea of laptop is alien to me as I always believed laptops were a terrible idea due to not been able to upgrade them like you can a desktop. But I'll be able to get more use out of a laptop so I come to you LTT army to help me as I am stuck on what to do and ask what would you do? Buy a desktop and spend similar to what a laptop is going to cost however only get to use it every now and again or buy a laptop and use it more often but not be able to keep it along as the desktop? Please help I'm stuck with what to do. The latop I'm looking at is this one. https://www.ebuyer.com/937183-razer-blade-pro-17-core-i7-16gb-512gb-ssd-rtx-2070-17-3-rz09-03147w02-r3w1
