Hi, I am interested in getting a used (tight budget) gaming laptop. Only clue I have is from ebay.de (I'm in EU) and I have found a GTX 1070 laptop for around 820 euros (Shipping inc.) Any other options I have please? I need a decent gaming laptop sub 900 euros (doesn't matter new or used for me, but condition must be great). P.S : I've looked at GTX 1060 laptops as well and cheapest I could find on ebay is 660 euros with shipping. For 160 euros difference, I figure it's better to opt for the 1070.

I'm planning to repaste my laptop (specs below) as it runs a little too hot for my liking. Running at 90C and above even at idle. However I'm unsure of what to do on a particular aspect of the process. From videos and images (also below) my laptop uses thermal paste on components around the CPU and GPU. I've got a pretty good grasp of applying CPU and GPU thermal paste so that isn't an issue for me. To the point, for the components around both chips would it be sensible to replace the paste with a suitable thermal pad? If not what thermal paste would be appropriate for those components? Laptop Specs: ASUS ROG Zephryus M GA502DU Ryzen 7 3750H GTX 1660 TI Max-Q 16GB RAM

So I got this Predator 15 G9 593 from a New Egg deal back in 2018. The Soces are given in the bottom. This laptop has the 7th Gen i& and a freaking 1070 yet it struggles to run COD Warzone over 50 FPS. Struggles means, either wholesale thermal throttling and stutters or just random freamedrops. Oh, It gets worse every time I try to just record gameplay using OBS. Sometimes CPU and GPU both reach 90+ and 80+ Degrees C, respectively. Here's what I've tried: 1. Changing the Thermal paste: using Kryonaut by TG, Bought it back in 2018. 2. Cleaning the Cooler fans and the radiators. 3. Connected to the wall on balanced and power mode. Battery is dead though, can't replace yet cause COVID. 4. There's a metallic paper type thingy that used to be lightly stuck to the cooler cooling one of the VRM looking thing near the CPU & GPU. But it came off and wouldn't stick back liked it used to. I used thermal paste on it stick it to the cooler and the VRM to pass heat from the VRM. Every Time I re-apply the thermal paste, the performance in warzone seem to be at least a bit better. But that goes away in 2-3 of months at most. Could this be the issue? Is anyone else facing this kinda issues? And this is reflective in other Games too. Hi, I purchased a new gaming laptop. ROG Strix G15 with i5-10300H with 8 GB 2933MHz and a 1650Ti. I was wondering will an extra 8 GB of RAM get me some more FPS like 10 or something? Thanks. -
I have an ASUS Zephyrum M with a core i7-9750h (base clock: 2.6 GHz boost: 4.1 GHz) with a rtx 2060. I was having a lot of thermal throttling issues which caused massive frame drops and stuttering in all games ultimately making the unplayable. Before servicing my laptop my cpu reached 97 degrees even on the base clock speeds. After changing the thermal paste and cleaning the heat sink and the fans I was able to get my base clock temps down to around 78-85 degrees which is still quite hot. However when I enable turbo the temps shoot up instantly, while gaming they reach temps of around 97-99 degrees. What could be causing this Also when I try gaming on base clock speeds for stable performance I still get the same fps drops and stutter, I checked my gpu clock speeds and they are around 1600-1850 MHz. I don't know what's causing the stutter in games. I've had my laptop fully serviced by professionals and have even reinstalled a fresh windows 10 os. All of my drivers are also upto date. Ps: I've already enabled max performance in the battery settings and nvidia control panel -
Hey! So I want to buy a new laptop that I can use for college and also game. So I picked this new MSI GF65 THIN 10UE-091 which has a rtx 3060, intel i7 10th gen, 16 gb ram. Is MSI a good brand? Will this laptop be good? Can anyone help. I am afraid to dip my toe in gaming laptops!

I am looking for a bit of advice or counseling so to speak on what I should look for or expect in a gaming laptop $1,000 USD or less. I need the laptop able to run most titles on low or medium settings at or above 60 fps while streaming or recording software is running. I honestly do not know what I should look for or expect to be good at this price concerning laptops. I would also like to edit videos and graphics at a stable a decent quality as well as a bit of music production at times. I also really do not want to go any less that 16gigs RAM and run SSDs only ngl. Some points I would say are needed to touch on would be: -Processor and clock speeds -Acceptable GPUs -Storage -Just every spec and part in the laptop is in question. I really want to make a informed decision and not get screwed out of the absolute best at the available price. I until now have not had anything better that pre-owned user referbished $250 old office laptops to game on. I have an out and do not want to settle. It needs performance and to be honest a little shine wont hurt given it would be nice if it felt good as well. Thanks for any and all help and advice ahead of time. Linus really likes to hype this forum so I want to see if it was worth the account creation given this is my first time creating an account on any forum. I only ever just scour forum after forum without accounts for any information or research. Given it would always be a colossal waste to make an account for every forum I come across given the dozens of unique issues I have or would have, I never do. Today is full of first for me. Hey people, My girlfriend bought a budget gaming laptop not too long ago. ( HP - Pavilion 15.6", model: 15-EC1073DX). I was just able to get a second monitor for her for cheap but the laptop only has 1 hdmi port and no thunderbolt port just a usb-c 3.0. Anyone have any suggestions on a dock or other solution? I was able to also get a dell docking station for cheap as well but didn't know her laptop didn't have thunderbolt at the time. ps. I know there are docks that will use usb 3.0 but what i've been able to find only allows for monitors up to 60hz. Her current monitor can go up to 144hz and I don't want to bottle neck that monitor.

Hi guys i hope you all doing ok. As the topic says i'm looking for a laptop around 1600-1800$ with rtx 3070, ryzen equipped with 120-144-165hz 1440p display if possible. I'm travelling a lot but it's with my car so in this case the weight and thickness isn't important. I'm looking for a really beefy boy as thick as possible with highest power delivery (if possible +130w is my go to) with good cooling and moderate display i don't care anything else like build quality or such. I'm not thinking to downgrade to 3060 in this price range. Thanks in regards.

I have been looking for a gaming laptop for a while, and now that it is almost Black Friday, I realized I am not 100% sure on what I want to get. Right now, I am looking at the msi gs66 stealth, with an i7-11800h, rtx 3060, 16 gigs of ram and 1tb of storage. I especially have considered this laptop because it has decent all around ability, and is upgradeable. However, especially with deals going on, more options are in my price zone (up to 1700 usd, could go higher by 100 if I really like what I’m seeing) I wanted to see if this would work well, or if there is a better machine out there. Main things I want is a solid, strong keyboard (I’ve heard razer is somewhat bendy), good display and fully upgradeable ram and storage (not the one stick ram like zephyrus laptops). Could anyone give me some ideas? -
I updated to the latest version of Windows 10 recently and all is well until not long after the system started becoming slow. The previous thread I started seemed to have solved, however games still perform like trash despite the system itself not being slow. I tried installing newer drivers, then rolling back, then uninstalling it using DDU and then installing the driver again, then uninstalling it once more and opting to get a driver from Windows Update. All of which proved futile. No matter which drivers I use, no matter if I install them clean or not, it still runs like crap. Please help me. Hi yall, I bought some thermal grizzly liquid metal to use on my laptop, I've got an hp omen 15-ek0013dx. Im just on the fence because I dont know if the heatsink is copper plated or all copper, I scratched it with a knife and of course it looks shiny like aluminium but when I took a pic and zoom in it all looks like its same color, all copper. So some info about the whole ordeal first, Recently I repasted my Asus Zephyrus M GU502GU about 3 weeks ago with Cooler Master master gel maker and undervolted it. I ran cinbench r20 to verify if the repasting improved the temps and I got max temps of around 80 degrees celsius on the CPU which was an improvement of about 4-5 degrees. Idle temps were at around 40 degrees and not affected at all. I also played games and saw a 9-10 degrees temp reduction on the GPU side. So overall I was happy with my first ever thermal paste job but since the last 2-3 days I have been seeing negative impacts on the CPU temps. The idle temps are unaffected and the GPU temps remain the same while gaming but while running Cinebench r20 now the CPU reaches a max of 92 degrees and starts thermal throttling. I have read that high idle temps and high core differentials are some signs of a bad thermal paste job but I have none of those issues so what might be the problem here? -
Okay, so. I'm want to change my gaming laptop and have been saving up for a couple of months now, waiting for a good opportunity. I was gonna wait for Black Friday but I came across this on Micro Center Lenovo Legion 5 15 15.6" Gaming Laptop Computer Platinum Collection - Blue AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 3.2GHz Processor; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6; 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (CL22 1Rx8); 1TB Solid State Drive On 1199 USD$. I though that was a really good price for those specs, but I'm not sure if maybe on Black Friday I might get a better deal on a similar specs machine. So what do you guys think? should i buy now or wait for Black Friday?

The second fan in my hp laptop is only running at around 200rpm at load , cant find any details for this issue on internet also ,the fan 1 is working around 2000rpm on the same time please help !

Hi everyone, I have a Asus Rog Strix GL753VE running up-to-date Win10 64bit. It was working fine until I shut it down yesterday, but today, as I turn it back on, the keyboard isn't working. This already happened once, some months ago, and it resolved itself with a restart. Today, however, it seems much worse as no usb device works (external usb ports, keyboard and camera, which I suppose are usb too). The touchpad is working fine and the usb ports deliver power. In device manager, the "USB xHCI compliant controller host" reports this error: device cannot start (Code 10). I tried restarting; I tried uninstalling the device from device manager and restarting; i tried downloading and installing chipset drivers from the asus website, with no luck. I didn't find a proper driver in the intel website, so I didn't try that. After some googling, I did a "sfc /scannow", but no errors were found. Win10 didn't update yesterday, and I have no restore points to try going back to. I didn't try a fresh windows install, because I am currently writing my phd thesis and I need some software that is installed on this notebook. Then I went into the bios, by clicking restart in win10 with the shift key, using the on screen keyboard. Keyboard isn't working there either, and it seems that usb no devices are recognized (see attached image - there should be at least a keyboard in the usb port list if i'm correct). I tried creating a live ubuntu usb stick from another laptop, and it doesn't show up in the boot menu. I had a look at the usb settings in the bios, and they seem ok: legacy usb support and usb mass storage driver support are enabled. Now the main question is: do you think this is a hardware problem, and the only way to fix it is to buy a new motherboard/notebook? Thank you, and happy holidays!
