Hi! I have my galaxy S7 for about 4 and a half years now. It served me well, but it's well beyond the time to upgrade. I wanted to upgrade to the S20, but I lingered for too long and now the S21 is out as well, and I don't know which one to buy. The difference in price that I found was about 90 dollars, but also if I buy the S21, I need to buy a charging brick, because it comes with a Type c to type c cable, and I don't have a charger for that. So which one do you think I should buy? Thanks in advance.

So here's one of those worst "worst case scenarios" kinda problem. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S7 that's gone completely dead. The wireless charging shows charging when I give it juice. Other then that, nothing. I've tried the multiple hard and soft reset options (power button, lower volume increase volume combos). None of it works. No vibrations, no notification light. It just went dead. No reason for it, it just died. I'll peal it apart and have an internal look at it if I can't fix it through less violent means, but I've come on here for a fix beyond the traditional. Anyone got a suggestion?

Anyone know of 7.1.1 factory images available to flash on US carrier (ATT, Verizon, etc.) based Galaxy S7s? And i'm not talking about OTA updates which won't happen for a little while since pretty much all the carriers in the US are slackers and won't push the update; although there was an announcement a month ago. Here is the URL for Google handsets : https://developers.google.com/android/images

I'm having a weird glitch where I can't access mobile data on the Ting GSM network (wholesale from T-Mobile). I have a used and unlocked AT&T Galaxy S7 with the Ting GSM SIM card and can get calling and texting, but no data. The most confusing part happened a few weeks ago: I swapped my SIM card with another activated Ting SIM card, had data, then swapped back to the original, and still had data, until I rebooted which is when I lost it again. It worked for nearly a week with fully functional mobile data, but stopped when rebooting. Does anyone else have this issue, or and have advice? I can get the 4G LTE logo, but it isn't actually working. The Data Service status usually says "Connecting" unless the 4G LTE logo appears and it says "Connected", even though it doesn't work. Things that haven't worked: Setting and checking the APN. Shutting down, removing the SIM card, waiting 5 minutes, reinserting SIM, rebooting. Getting a new SIM card. Doing a full factory reset. Changing network type (Currently LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)). Resetting connection settings. Making sure mobile data is actually enabled (it is). Trying the swapping SIM procedure described above with my old deactivated SIM. Booting without a SIM, then rebooting with it. Talking to multiple Ting Support Assistants for over 8 hours total. I finally found a solution: Turn off data and wifi, reboot, turn on data, test it, turn on wifi, and test that too. I have to do this every time I turn the phone off.

I have a pair of Sony MDR-AS200 Active Sports Water Resistant headphones that I'd like to use with my S7 while jogging or doing yardwork. Yet them & a pair of Sony studio monitoring headphones I own sound extremely quiet when plugged into my Samsung Galaxy S7. Even when I max out the volume, it's nothing compared to how the earbuds that came with the phone sound. I've heard of root methods to increase a smartphones volume but I can't do that as I'm still under the 1 year warranty plan. They plug in all the way, only difference I see is both have only 2 rubber rings around the plug while the ones that came with my phone have 3. 1: Is this why & is there anything I can do about it without ruining em? 2: If not then for future reference, what are a good pair of in-ear earbuds + in-line mic that stay in but are also very comfortable for long hours for around but preferably under $100.00?

Hey guys, After coming home and parking in the street near my house after work, it was raining really hard. I was using my Galaxy S7 phone as a flashlight (because I needed to find my keys, doorknob, etc.) but I heard about how waterproof the S7 was so I didn't think much of it getting wet. Anyways, when I got in the house I wiped off all of the water on the outside of the phone, and put it straight on the fast charger. When I put it on there it said that there was moisture on the inside of the charging port and that I needed to dry it out. I followed the troubleshooting tips on the Samsung website by gently shaking the phone so as to get the excess water out of the charging port, as well as gently blowing into it. I waited a half hour before putting it back on, and it started charging, only exception is that it would only regularly charge, and would not fast charge. Strange. When I woke up this morning I tried charging it again, but again, it would only regularly charge and not fast charge. I made sure the port was absolutely clear of water, as well as made sure that fast charging was enabled in settings. Check, and check. Now it still won't fast charge, and I couldn't find anything online on how to fix it. I could really use some help. Thanks all.

Activating the FM radio on US unlocked Galaxy s7
TacticlTwinkie posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
So apparently the FM radio is activated on the Galaxy S7 for the big networks like AT&T, Verizon, and the such. But Samsung, in their infinite wisdom, decided to keep it locked on the unlocked versions of their phone, and don't seem to have pushed out an update to activate it. Has anyone gotten it to work on their unlocked phone? My s7 has the latest updates as of now, November 5th 2016. Apps like NextRadio say that the FM radio is not activated. I can't seem to find a way to turn it on, but maybe someone here has. -
I'm considering buying one of those 6ft Magnetic Volta Charging Cables for my Galaxy S7 but am concerned about my non-reversable Micro USB ports condition. It's definitely not as tight as the first month of ownership although the included USB charging cord can still suspend the phone. 1: Should I try seeing if my manufactures or 1 year extended accidental damage warranty will replace it or is it still plenty tight enough? 2: Will I be able to use that Volta cable with my included USB to wall adapter? 3: Will that be able to charge at the full wall amperage/voltage? *EDIT: I've owned the phone for just under a year & unplug/plug it in to charge about twice a day.

Hi everyone, I've recently been browsing a swiss price comparator (Luke talked about it in his Logitech video) and saw the Galaxy S7 (G930F) is available for 479 CHF (473 USD). I was planning to buy a OnePlus 3T because it's supposedly a sweet spot between features and price and the only real thing missing is a camera as good as Galaxy S7 / iPhone 7 / Google Pixel. The OnePlus 3T is available in Europe for 439 Euros (460ish USD) but not available for Switzerland, so prices are higher through 3rd party retailers. In that situation, do you think we can say buying the Galaxy S7 at that price is a no brainer ? Do you see the same situation in your country ? Google Pixel and iPhone 7 are way more expensive and the other cheaper phones don't have the same great camera. I think that even with the S8 out in a few months, the S7 will remain an excellent phone with an excellent camera and the more the price will go down, the more unbeatable it will become. I don't think that futur phones will be able to justify 700 USD or more price tags with excellent phones like we have now costing nothing. We have more than excellent cameras, excellent screens, good battery life, fingerprint scanners, good storage speed, etc... What do you think ?

So I've owned this Galaxy S7 for a few weeks now & about all I've done with it is make/receive calls, take lots of notes & sent two texts. I know it's capable of gaming but have no clue which I should try. I like racing, action & adventure but more importantly than those I like something else even more, safety. So how do I go about determining which free android games or hell even other apps are free of malware? Are the ratings a clear enough example of that? E.G: 1M downloads, 4 stars VS 100K downloads, 5 Stars. I only have 2GB of data on Verizon plan but house Wifi is Unlimited yet only 6.5Mbps download, still would prefer a game who's content is mostly offline. Thanks in advance for your input, gonna need something to do for the next day or two while I run Driver Verifier lol. *Edit: Didn't know Driver Verifier ran in background, but I'm still interested in your suggestions on Android Games.

Hello! I recently have gotten a Samsung Galaxy S7 (non-edge), and I was wondering what a good, full screen (edge-to-edge, curved) glass protector would be. I had gotten a cheaper tempered glass protector, however, it doesn't cover the entire screen (which I'd rather have no protection at all than this current protector). Cost isn't too big of a concern, so long as its glass and covers the entire face of the phone (if possible at all), thanks! Side note, also looking for a reliable slim case option, or perhaps a bumper even. I like the feel and size of the phone as is (including the metal sides), I don't want to add unnecessary bulk. Maybe a bumper + skin solution? Recommendations welcome

If this is in wrong catagory please move, I haven't used this forum in a while so I'm unsure & sorry. I want the 2 sound, brief part of the jaws theme as a notification sound. I don't want it to sound exactly like the movie. Just what it sounds like if one makes the noise with their mouth. If no one knows what I mean I may try uploading a clip of myself doing it later.

FB Messenger Notifications Not Working On 4G
Mike Soda posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
From what I can tell, all my facebook messenger app settings for notifications are turned on for my galaxy s7. Yet it still refuses to let me know of new messages when I'm using 4g & not wifi. Is there a way I can force it & any other app I choose to give me notifications regardless of if I'm using wifi or 4g? -
The title says it all. As of recent, my Galaxy s7 stopped charging via USB cable. I can still charge it wirelessly using a charging pad. I have tried everything. Hard resetting the phone, blowing dust out of the USB port, straightening the contact point inside the port, checking the pins in the cable, nothing has worked so far. I have ascertained that the fault lies in the phone's USB port solely, as all of my cables work fine on every other device I own. However, here's the kicker, and the thing that's been driving me crazy for the past few days trying to figure out. It will charge using a USB cable, but only one specific one I own (an Anker 6ft micro USB cable, if it means anything). It will only charge using a wireless pad or that specific cable, nothing else. I've been pulling my hair out trying to fix it, as I don't want to spend $80-$110 to get it fixed (seeing as I'm flat broke). If anyone could provide a cause for this seemingly arbitrary breakdown and perhaps a solution I would be forever in your debt. TL;DR: OP's phone stopped charging via USB cable (except, oddly, with one specific cable) and I need a solution

I'm looking for a dash mounting system for my Samsung Galaxy S7 in it's Tek21 EVO case. Which is pretty slippery but I can't afford something different right now so whatever type of mount I get has to have a good grip. I know the 2 main types are vent & suction cup but I live in Arizona. So it does get pretty hot in the summer but also cold in the winter, which means I'd rather not block 1 of my vents & risk over heating the phone. Likewise I know keeping it out of the summer sun is a must & I'd honestly like it closer to me anyway. I know some suction cups have extendable arms but I don't know how well that or any mounting plate would stick to the dash or windshield in my 1993 Geo Prizm. I don't need one that charges it or holds by magnets, I prefer clamps unless there's a magnetic one that won't let go or damage my phone with adhesive. Price wise if there was something for just a few dollars that'd be decent for temporary until I could afford to blow $100+ on something that'd last forever I'd go that route for now. Anyway, if any of you have suggestions on brands or even particular models of smartphone dash mounts I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have recently discovered that an iPhone 7 (running iOS 11.4.1) and a Samsung galaxy s7 (running Android 8.0) are near unusable on the 5GHz wifi band. They both get bellow 1Mbps and once the speed test (ookla speed test app) has run for a few seconds they both get up to around 3-5 Mbps but the upload will always go to around the maximum of my wireless speeds (20Mbps). However, my old iPhone 5S (running iOS 11.4.1) will get 70-80Mbps on the 5GHz wifi band so this leaves me even more confused as to why 2 newer phones are getting significantly worse speeds on the wifi band that they prefer. I have run speed tests on all 3 devices on both bands and have provided screenshots below. I have also provided screenshots of my router's (D-LINK DSL-3782) settings. iPhone 5s speed tests https://imgur.com/a/Q9lxZA3 iPhone 7 speed tests https://imgur.com/a/igwOzPX Samsung Galaxy S7 speed tests (low battery but was charging) https://imgur.com/a/hZLcbaG Router D-LINK DSL-3782 settings (imgur wouldn't let me upload for another 55 minutes so I've attached the images below) Any help is appreciated Thanks Edit: I have now discovered that an iPhone 6s (running iOS 11.4.1) is also having the same issue

It was working a few days ago but now when I try to pin a memo to the home screen of my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android Oreo it never shows up. I've tried restarting the phone, turning it off & on completely & clearing cache via the built in optimizer tool. Anyone got ideas?

Hello, I have an almost brand new Samsung Galaxy S7. One day it turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I have followed all of the"tips" I could find online. Took it apart and everything was connected and put it back together again. When plugged in to a charger there are no notification lights and the screen is blank. Power button does nothing when pressed. If you put it on a wireless charger the charger does redact and says it's charged. I have a new phone but was trying to fix this for a friend in desperate need of an upgrade. Is there any hope?

My phone (a Samsung S7) is no longer receiving SMS. I am receiving MMS and I could send SMS but I'm just not receiving. When I was setting myself with Sprint the rep talked to me about the insurance as a hardware failure and not a software or network failure. This feels like a Network failure to me since everything else is working. This problem has been happening for over a week now. I have done the following to try and fix this (with a Sprint rep on the line of a different phone) - Profile update - PRL update - All "Power Cycle options" including factory - The ##72786# - I got a new SIM Card - Reset to Factory Defaults (Complete cleaning) Does anyone know what could be causing this? They said the Verizon towers in my area are updating but my wife who has the exact same phone is functioning perfectly. What can be done?

I've been using the Tek21 EVO case & a tempered glass partial screen protector on my Galaxy S7 for over a year now & I've finally got the money to improve my experience. Although both have worked, the case feels "like a wet bar of soap" & the halo effect on my screen protector is growing increasingly annoying. The lack of grip is my primary gripe but I can't change that until I've decided on another screen protector or not. I know my phone has Gorilla Glass 4 which according to all the marketing by Corning, is superior in every way to any screen protector. Although I've watched & read countless reviews on all the below choices, I'd still like to hear this communities opinions em. amFilm S7 Tempered Glass Screen Protector, Supershieldz S7 Tempered Glass Screen Protector, Griffin Survivor, Spigen Tough Armor, Otterbox Defender & Pelican Voyager. 1: Besides scratch resistance, how much better or worse would my Gorilla Glass 4 alone protect against a sharp impact VS a Tempered Glass Screen protector on top of it? 2: I'm looking for a grippy case that'll also be fairly easy to remove from my pant pockets, if you've had any experience with any of the above cases at all, how do they feel? 3: If I get another Tempered Glass Screen Protector but a full one this time, do y'all have any idea which cases it'll work with? P.S: I've already tried all local stores, no one has anything anymore for my phone, it's all for the S8 now, so no way I can try anything out.

While the specs on the fairly newly-released Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge reveal a microSD card slot capable of supporting up to an impressive 200GB microSDXC behemoth of a flash card, Samsung's own website seems to hint that the 256GB microSDXC, Evo Select, Class UHI-3 card is also supported on the S7/S7Edge. See the "*" footnote on the "See More Features" section of the 256GB card at: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-storage/MB-MC256DA/AM The footnote reads, "Test Device: Samsung Galaxy S7. The above results are from internal tests with the average-actual data store capacity (93.1% of the labeled capacity). The results may vary based on testing conditions and host devices. " This note would indicate that the phone recognizes memory in excess of the 200GB stated limit. 93.1% of 256GB is about 238.4GB But if we take a deeper dive the 93.1% capacity is easily explained by the differences in Decimal and binary Gigabytes. Storage manufacturers advertised capacity and and the capacity seen by operating systems and how they look at data is the missing 6.9%. The card is 256,000,000,000 bytes storage capacity. That's 256 Decimal gigabytes. A Decimal Gigabyte is 1000X1000X1000 or 1,000,000,000 bytes. Operating systems look at storage in binary-gigabytes or Gibibytes. A Gibibyte is 1024X1024X1024 or 1,073,741,824 Bytes. Unfortunately these two terms are often simply abbreviated to GB, which causes panic, confusion and anger when you think, "I didn't get all the storage space the SD card claimed it had!!" But it is there. If we divide 256,000,000,000 by 1,073,741,824 we get 238.418 Gibibytes or about 93.1% the "stated" capacity. The OS is programmed in binary and will see and report capacity in GiBibytes. The storage manufacturer reports the capacity in Decimal Gigabytes to make it look larger and more appealing to the customer. In short, the implication is that the phone recognizes the full 256 Gigabytes (AKA 238.418 Gibibytes) ....Freakin' AWESOME!!! PLEASE NOTE: I haven't personally tested this. I don't have the 256GB microSDXC UHS-I3 card to go in my S7 Edge or the US$199 to buy one. Maybe Linus or Luke may want to give that a try if they still have a functioning Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and have recently broke my USB cable that came with it. I was wondering if I needed to purchase the Samsung-branded cable in order to take advantage of the Qualcomm quick charge? I see different cable online and some say they support it and others don't.

I recently got a samsung galaxy s7 edge and switched to t-mobile's service. I before had a galaxy s5 with an at&t plan. The internet on the s7 edge is ridiculously slow, taking ages for web pages to load, as well as the twitter app with replies and images taking even longer, even with 4 and sometimes 5 bar signal. My galaxy s5 on at&t had faster internet. Much faster. I did speed tests on the s7 and got roughly 75mb/s download and 34mb/s upload, yet it is still very slow when actually using apps and the internet. Is there anything that could solve this issue or at least make it better? Please leave suggestions as to what I could do, thank you.

I am going to be converting over to android for my next phone, and I am not sure where to begin, I am looking at the HTC 10, Samsung galaxy S7, Oneplus 3, and the Google Nexus 6p for options, and not sure which one to choose. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips, their experiences with the phones, and some advice in the transition.
