  1. So I completed my build today and I'm facing a ridiculous problem. Whenever I restart my PC from BIOS Setup or Windows it doesn't POST anything. Sometimes it boots but doesn't POST (I guessed it by watching ram's rgb profile changed which I made). But if I completely shut it down and after a few seconds turn it on, it posts and boots perfectly. And all the components just works fine. I ran some games and didn't notice any problems. It's not a ram problem I am sure. I tested both rams individually and both of them were working perfectly. But none of them were able to reboot my pc. So I guess the problem is somewhere else. I also reset BIOS using the button. It didn't help either.PLEASE HELP,My rig:Mobo: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGECpu: RYZEN 7 3700XRam: G. SKILL TRIDENT Z RGB 8X2 3200MHZGpu: SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 5700 XT 8GSsd: Samsung 970 evo plus 250 GBPsu: Cooler master mwe 750w gold
  2. Hi everyone, I am in desperate need of help. I got some new RAM and a new mobo and now my Windows 10 install appears to have corrupted itself (again). I have gone through all my motherboard settings (Fast Boot, UEFI vs Legacy, etc.). My RAM is fully detected, installed properly, and functional. I have tried to boot from a recovery USB (still freezes). MemTest86 completely locks up when running. I am really at my wit's end as to what to do short of wiping my drive and starting fresh. Would any of you fine people have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, if I just need to wipe the drive and start fresh I will do that. I just need to know if I'm overlooking something here. Here's what I'm working with: Mobo: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC CPU: i9 9900K RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2400 MHz GPU: GTX 1070 PSU: Seasonic Platinum OS Drive: Adata XPG SX8200 Pro
  3. Hello everyone, So I have been thinking & looking to build a new rig & have a bazillion questions. But I'll start with RAM: My platform of choice is a Ryzen 3700x with Asus TUF Gaming MB. Here's my understanding of RAM frequencies for this: according to this graph (attached image below), the so-called "sweet spot" for Zen 3 RAM is 3733Mhz at CL17. Many people choose to buy 3600Mhz CL16 because it's a lot more readily available & cheap than 3733CL17. I have been looking at G.Skill 32GB (2x16) 3600CL16 that I should be able to get around 225€. However I just stumbled upon a pretty cheap Patriot Viper 3733CL17, but it's not on the Zen 3 list of supported RAMs ( pdf here ). Comments on Amazon do say there is zero compatibility issue though. This is a 2x8GB set so I would want to double that to get 32GB ( 2 x 86€ = 172€ total ). So my questions are: - Is this a good opportunity to get a native 3733CL17 for a good price? Is frequency more important than brand? The chip brand isn't disclosed but there are hints that this is a Hynix kit rather than a Samsung. Is Patriot a reputable/reliable RAM brand? - Should I instead stick with 3600CL16 with a bigger brand like G.Skill & pay 53€ more? - Are there performance differences between 2 sticks of 16GB and 4x8GB? If yes, what are they? - Might I try to find a 3600CL17 instead, and overclock it to 3733Mhz? I'm no overclocking expert, but it should be doable, wouldn't it? Again, keep in mind the 53€ difference, that not negligible. Thank you all for the help! P.S.: the G.Skill 3600CL16 is Samsung 16-16-16-36, the Patriot Viper is claimed at 17-19-19-39, the G.Skill 3600CL17 is Samsung 17-19-19-39. EDIT: modified title according to comment below.
  4. Hello, I am in the process of picking ram for a build. This will be my first build so excuse my ignorance and incorrect terminology. My current parts are Ryzen 3700x with an asrock x570 taichi. I have been doing a bit of research on ryzen zen 2 and ram. I was looking at following amd's price/perf recommendation of 3600 mghz cl16. I have my eyes set on some G.skill trident Z neo 3600 Mhz ram 4x8gb. The G.skill ram I am looking at hasHynix J chip However, I have read that ryzen does well with the samsung B-die. Does the chip make any difference for performance if they are both on the QVL? https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570 Taichi/#MemoryMS
  5. I have a 32gb set of 4(8gb each) Ram sticks from G.skillz. Memory Model F4-3200C16Q-32GVK I've had ram boot problems with my x99 Gigabyte Ultra Gaming rev 1.0 Motherboard for 2 years. I followed the memory module input slots from the manual. Basically my computer will run stable with 8gb of Ram, But once i get the Windows to run either 16gb 24gb or 32gb. My computer instantly power shuts down. I have a water cooler and i watch the temps off everything (ram, cpu, gpu and my psu is not hot at all) I have a 850 eva that i tested on another pc and it works. My cpu is 45c when the power is lost, and my gpu is 50c when the power is lost. I have to run my Ram sticks at 1.35v or my mobo won't even boot into windows. The mhz cant be more than 2800mhz or it won't boot even at 1.35volts. Yes i tried all types of volts and mhz. The ram sticks get ot about 41c, im not sure if thats too high or what. Every stick of Ram works when its single. Like i said, if i have 2 or more sticks installed, the PC with run for 10 mins before i have to unplug them to run it again. Yes, this set of Ram sticks is on the QVL for the Mobo. Has anyone had this type of problem before?
  6. Motherboard: Gigabyte ga z97x-sli lga 1150 Ram: g.skill ripjaws x series 16 gb (2x8) ddr3 1866 Processor: Intell Core i7 4790k I might want to sell my old computer in the future, but I have an issue with the ram where i might not beable to sell all of the machine. The ram only works in the 1 and 2 slot positions instead of 1 and 3 like normal modern pc's. I don't know how dual channel or single channel ram works I've tried all other combinations and even tried putting 4 of the same modules in. I was wondering if that's a thing with the type of motherboard I have, is it a setting I need to configure, or is something wrong with the ram slots or bent cpu pins?
  7. Hello! I'm going to keep this short, if someone could provide insight that would be great. I have a ASUS WS PRO x570-Ace and G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3466mhz ram (Single) 64GB ram, running a Ryzen 9 3900x A handfull of times the sytem would run 3466mhz cl16, then just refuse to boot with it and resort to 2100 standard. The XMP settings doesn't work (3466) Manual setting the XMP settings does not work (3466) Dram Calculator full manual settings (including voltage, bus clock, cpu et) does not work. (3466) XMP sttings done manuall works to 3200mhz with cl22. Dram calculator full manual brings me 3200mhz cl 16 with decent timings. Either the startup fails 3 times goes into safe mode, or completely black screen. BSOD once when only voltage was bumped to 1.4v on the XMP settings. Ram-tests shows modules works as intended. Question: is there a compability issue with my ram sticks and the motherboard= is there a chance that they are not working correctly? They are single and not dual. Is this a problem populating all ram slots? Is there settings I'm for sure is missing in the bios Why won't the System / CPU / MB accept anything above 3200mhz? If anyone has ANY insight on this. Maybe you have the board yourselve? Please help a fellow out.
  8. I'm falling down a rabbit hole of RAM options. Right now I have an intel CPU but I will be upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 soon so I need to take RAM into consideration. I'm looking at 2 sets in particular: G.Skill TridentZ 4x 8gb 3600 CAS 19 $189 (sale) G.Skill TridentZ 2x 16gb 3200 CAS 16 $169 (sale) I know Ryzen likes 3600 better, but considering I'll be running in dual channel, I wonder if I'll take a performance hit with 4 sticks as opposed to 2. I'll be getting a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite if that matters. My use case leans more towards video editing/rendering than gaming, so I also wonder if having a CAS of 19 even matters for hyperthreaded workloads. I can probably tighten the timings of the 3600 RAM, but with 4 sticks it might be more difficult. Plus I read that it puts strain on the memory controller? I can't really find any information on this besides people saying it on forums. Then again, x4 RGB vs x2 RGB.. XD Please help... my brain hurts >_<
  9. I got a G.Skill KM780R MX keyboard (the non-RGB version, though it still has red lights), and there's a few problems with the software: It's incredibly slow and nothing saves (I'm sure it does but it takes longer than 10 minutess, 'cause that's the longest I'm willing to wait). It never stops loading. There's some sort of problem with the lighting tab. In the software manual on page 28, there's a picture of what the UI in said tab should look like: the keyboard, with options for whole-keyboard effect lighting and background lighting. I don't have the background lighting tab, and therefore can't set single-key lighting. This is a bit of a problem for me because part of the reason I got this keyboard is that it's supposed to be able to do that. I was going to light different keys for different games (e.g. osu, FPS games, etc.). It looks like they dodged the question in their FAQ. The question was "Why can't I change lighting or program a specific key on my keyboard", to which they just said something along the lines of "make sure you have the latest software and firmware installed" (which I do). Does anyone know how to fix this?
  10. Hello Guys First of all I want to state my current PC Config: Since GPU had died I thought of buying a new GPU with 20000 INR Budget. But then I realized I should move to Ryzen series but that will cost even more because I will have to do a full system upgrade. So... I am planning on building a Ryzen PC. Since I am to build a gaming PC but currently spending on the important parts (Mobo, RAM, CPU only so that my PC atleast could turn on and I could do my work. Parts that I have selected so far... Note: I will be posting products with price in INR (Indian Rupees) & USD (United States Dollar) I am actually confused in Motherboards. Both of them have same features only the size difference that I have noticed so far. I like the ATX more . It also has a bigger chipset Heatsink & looks better but it is ~$16 costlier. For Ram I am planing to get a RGB one. I am not getting 2x 8GB because it will go out of budget. I will add another stick later. Note: One more thing to notice that I will not be playing much games but when I will be playing, I will only be playing AAA games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, etc. Mostly i will be doing computer programming, 2D game designing. Working with Unity Engine, Adobe Illustrator, Java etc. So without GPU it will be hard but I will manage as I am managing for 2 months without GPU on current build and even without any graphics driver because my current motherboard doesn't support drivers for Windows 10. So... Alternate Build: I am thinking of getting APU so that I could work as well as play games until I get a GPU. Case*: I will be upgrading the CPU later on and sell the current one. I will get two 8 GB RAMs in this build. Case**: Already costly enough I will not be upgrading 3400g for a good while and also I will choose MicroATX with it. I will also get the GPU later on in both cases but i will loose the power of CPU ? Now suggest me whatever is best. My Budget will remain 20000 INR I can stretch it to 21k-22k only. Please don't suggest an Intel build ?? because I have already looked into it. And Intel Motherboards are too costly here in India. Also I am not going to buy any CPU cooler. GPU I will be getting is- GTX 1660 6GB (Non-Ti) || RX 580 8GB but that's a later case. Thank You

Hi All, I am planning a build with following parts Msi B450 Tomahawk AMD Ryzen 5 3600 My concern is the RAM Every online retailer in India including Amazon, Vedant Computers, MD Computers, PrimeABGB, etc. has this RAM listed- G.Skill RipJaws VF4-3200C16S-8GVKB But this model doesn't even exist on G.Skill Website and also this isn't listed in the motherboard memory compatibility list of B450 Tomahawk. Please help will this work or not? Same case is with 2 other RAM sticks from ADATA and Corsair their model number also don't exist on their website. I need total 16 gigs 3200 MHz, I can't go for a dual channel kit coz that's much expensive to buy as compared to 2 such (above mentioned) sticks. I think the S here stands for Single Channel because those kits mention D. and that thing exists even on the mobo ram compatibility list. Thankyou
  13. Hey,I am building a PC and am wondering, which of these RAMs is better? (I haven't heard of INNO3D iCHILL before) And would the INNO3D iCHILL ram be okay? The inno3d ichill RAM was offered by a local company, I am trying to see their price for the PC that I am planning on building and they didn't have all the parts that I had picked so they changed a few things.INNO3D iCHILL RGB DDR4 16GB KIT 2x8GB, 3000Mhz, CL16, RGB, 1.35VG.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Thanks,Rasmus
  14. Hello everyone. I've recently bought this combo: MB: ASUS Prime X470-PRO CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2600X RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX) That particular memory kit is on Asus QVL list and should run at 3600MHz yet it won't run faster than 2800MHz. I managed to pull off 3000MHz with LOWER than initial timings (16-36) but no luck from there on. Any suggestions?
  15. Hello guys I have bought g.skill sniper X 3600mhz ram is it supported with ryzen 7 3700x.
  16. Hello there, I bought 1 stick of each, and I found out that the dual channel won't work as well as the timmings are not the same. Yet I haven't had any issues with the memory, and was able to bring it to 2400mh from 2133mh. 4gb Ram - https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15s-4gis 15-15-15-35 (2400mh) 8gb Ram - https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c17s-8gis 17-17-17-39 (2400mh) I am trying to fix this/work around it if possible and some advice would be much appreciated. Q: If I bought 2 more 4gb ram of the same specs (https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_1326&item_id=092276) would I be able to run all 4 channels properly despite the memory size and latency of the 8gb? or Q: Should I buy the same 8gb ram (https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-8gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232599) and end my misery? Q: Would a quad channel of 4gb ram with smaller latency be more efficient & effective than a dual channel 8gb ram with higher latency? Open to any advice/suggestions. Setup: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 (clocked at 3.85) GPU: GTX 1060 3gb SCOC MB: Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM AM4 RAM: 8gb & 4gb G.Skill Aegis 2400mh (<- who TF does that) Cooling: AIO water cooler SSD: 250gb SATA: 2TB 7200rpm
  17. Hello, I wish to have my Trident Z G.Skill 2x 8gb Ram sticks to sync with my RGB lighting. I understand there has been problems with programs such as Aurasync "Corrupting" the ram and having to crazily troubleshoot to get it back to working condition. I see that in one of Linus' videos he was sent a computer that had its RGB pre set up to match those of the corsair fans out of box. Seeing as that is being done I chose to post here to see what kind of solution has been made to fix my worries that my ram too could get corrupted when obviously they're selling out of the box already set up RGB with compatibility. Linus says in the video that it is most likely controlled by aura sync but compatibility doesn't exist yet for it right? Links for reference to said Video. Link 1(Corsair Link w/fans) Link 2(Trident X G.Skill ram) Link 3(Working RGB Sync) I'm reaching out for a solution so I don't brick my ram or anything of the sort. Have to go through RMA, Troubleshoot, or get the corsair vengeance and waste more money and give my ram away. I am going to be getting 3 T-Force Delta RGB lit SSD's and will be wanting to use aurasync or similar program to connect all those products plus my motherboard together. I currently have corsair link hooked up to 7 fans and works dandy, have a corsair water cooling with RGB logo on it, and 3 RGB Strip from corsair. all works fine. Sidenote: I know that getting corsair vengeance will match my build better but for the moment I'm looking for a solution for both myself and others affected by the same issue. Thank you in advance, Tristan AKA Innocence_Ends - Lover of PC building and helping others.
  18. I have a friend who had just purchased new RAM that was on sale. He installed it and now his computer won't show a picture. Below is what he had posted on Reddit (r/pcmasterrace) hoping to get a reply. I wanted to post here to see if anyone would be able to help with some suggestions. My friends initial post: "Just got new RAM (2x8GB G.Skill ddr4 2133) to replace my 2x4GB Ballistix ddr4. Switched the RAM out and plugged everything back in. Switched the computer back on. It kicked on but the monitor wouldn't recognize it. Switched back to my old RAM to see if maybe the new RAM was the issue and now that doesn't work either. I have made sure everything is still connected, RAM has been reseated, computer has been cleaned out with a can of compressed air, CMOS jumper used to reset BIOS and motherboard battery removed and put back to reset bios, single RAM stick used in each of the four slots still nothing. I am running out of ideas and am just hoping my mobo isn't fried (as far as I know there isn't a speaker or light on it so I really don't have a way to tell if it is or not). If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Mobo: Asrock Z170 Pro4p" Reddit link:
  19. I have an ASRock AB350M Pro4 motherboard and a Ryzen 3 1200 a GTX 750 with 2x4gb G.skill Aegis ddr4 and they are 2400mhz stock. I have come to the conclusion that the RAM is causing something to happen where it starts artifacting in games and blue screens every 2 hours of gaming. I know it's not the GPU because I've swapped it out for a different one and the artifacting still occurs. Can someone see if I have the RAM in the wrong spots or at the wrong speeds or something? Motherboard specs: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350M Pro4/index.asp#Specification RAM specs: https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16820232256 I have the RAM in slots a2 and b2 and they are set to 2400mhz (not auto) and when I change it to auto the RAM underclocks to 2133 Someone tell me if it's user error or the RAM is having compatibility issues.
  20. After getting the email that I won the 8086k on a whim, I almost couldn't contain myself. I was in the middle of calculus, so not like I had a choice anyway. It almost seemed to good to be real, and I hadn't even planned on upgrading because of how well my gold sample 4790k was running (4.7GHz on 1.2 V, what a dream). One silicon lottery to the next with me, I suppose, even though it was a different kind of lottery. To begin with, this build is a trio of triumphs for me. First of all, it's exciting to have cutting edge hardware. This CPU gave me the chance to have all current gen hardware in my PC for the first and probably only time (I love saving money on used stuff, so future upgrades will likely be eBay.) Second of all, it's vindictive. I remember reading the comments on a tech news site declaring the leak of the 8086k as an homage to the original 8086. Some snarky asshole in the comments was putting people down for thinking it would be an i7, declaring from on high that given Intel's nomenclature, the number scheme fell into i3 territory. I didn't bother commenting, because I knew as soon as the CPU hit the market, he'd be proven wrong. And third, this build has a somewhat unique sentimental value to me. My dad told me after I won that he used to have an 8086 powered PC way back in the day, and It made me all the more excited to reintroduce that into the household. I know it's not all that special because loads of people had the 8086 (kind of the reason there's a CPU dedicated to its legacy). Enough of that, let's talk tech. I started this build in complete agony. On around July 6th, my Z97-AR crapped out. BIOS update said it completed properly, PC went to restart automatically, and suddenly unfixable boot loop. I sent it in to ASUS, they said it was FUBAR, so I paid for a replacement. Thus begun an infuriating song and dance of them sending me a P8H61-I motherboard back and forth over and over again, me getting "elevated" to customer support levels, and generally a lot of phone calls and slow email correspondence. I have always loved the quality and performance of ASUS products, but this was just to much for me. I decided to go with the EVGA Z370 Classified k. Feature packed, with USB 3.1 type C and an internal header to fuel my expansion card obsessed upgrade path. The only drawback of the Z370 platform upgrade is that it seems every single motherboard disables SATA ports to "share bandwidth" with M.2 slots. Why would SATA bandwidth be needed for M.2? I thought the point was to use PCIe instead. Regardless, The heat sink design was too appealing to pass up. The surface area is much higher than most boards, with enough room for my Hyper 212 EVO, which I will be using long term now that I see just how well its doing, even on a 6 core chip. Luckily, there is plenty of RAM clearance with that cooler, so using my sexy new kit of G.Skill Trident Z RGB was utterly painless. I went all out because the value of my old parts is much higher than that of my new parts on account of getting the CPU free, so I'm selling them to my friend to break even and splurged on some DDR4 3200 to really round things out. My concern with M.2 bandwidth stems from the fact that I use a Corsair Force MP500 as a boot drive. My newest and fastest storage device, I transitioned to this as my boot drive but have kept all my old drives as mass storage since (which I have needed because they are all mostly full of games). I have a meme hard drive from an old cheese grater mac, and a DVD drive as well, neither of which can be used at the moment until I can acquire both a new PCIe to 2x SATA internal card as well as a molex to SATA power to reach the DVD drive. I also use an expansion card for my eSATA HDD, which includes an internal USB 3.0 header for my front SATA/compact storage reader. The thing is janky as hell, and I love it (pictured below). Ultimately, this build went almost perfectly. I replaced my old power supply because it had some quirks due to age, and modular has never felt better. Still, I wish the windows install on my boot drive didn't have to get wiped, but I backed everything I wanted up to my old hard drive, so I'm not particularly upset outside of the busywork required to set up my desktop again.
  21. So I recently bought a ASRock Z370 Taichi and G.Skill TridentZ RGB 16GB DDR4 3200. Will I need to overclock my motherboard to fit the 3200 speed?
  22. Hello, I would like to know which RAM brands are the best for laptop gaming regarding speed and performance and WHY? MSI GE63 8RF-099CA (32GB 2666MHz SODIMM at lower latency) Also, where would I find the RAM at a cheaper price? Thank You
  23. I have 2x G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) Trident Z RGB DDR4 3000MHz CL14 (F4-3000C14D-32GTZR) - 128GB in total. Which x399 motherboard will most likely support this RAM? What about the boards from Asrock (Taichi or Fatal1ty? Any input is much appreciated!
  24. Hey, I have the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard and the G.Skill TridentZ RGB RAM. I am using the Gigabyte "RGB Fusion" Software to disable some LEDs on my motherboard and the Asus Aura software to adjust the color of my G.Skill RAM. While the Gigabyte software can change the color of the G.Skill RAM it can't adjust the zones individually like the Aura and G.Skills own software can. G.Skills own software is really bad too because you can't type in color codes and stuff. It's just really bad software. That's why I'm using the Asus Aura software. It is not capable of adjusting each RAM stick individually like the G.Skill software can but it can at least change the individual lighting zones on the RAM. Here's my problem: Asus software autostarts on bootup and changes the RAM color to what I want it to be, then after that the slow RGB Fusion software starts and changes motherboard color + overrides the RAM color. Now I have to open the asus software, change to another effect, save, then switch back to the effect I want and save again. EACH TIME I start the computer. This is so ridiculously annoying. I just want to tell the Gigabyte software to ignore the G.Skill RAM. I do not want it to interface with it in any way. <rant> Offtopic: This whole having to use several different softwares is starting to annoy me tbh. I'm already using Corsair LL fans, a corsair keyboard and a corsair mouse so I am probably just going to bite the bullet and switch to Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB RAM in the future. All this bad RGB LED Software is just fkn annoying. Why do companies release a product with crappy software like that that probably was thrown together in a day or two. I am now using Corsair iCue, Asus Aura Sync, EVGA Precision X (that's fine. I use it for OCing and changing GPU LED color), NZXT CAM and Gigabyte RGB Fusion. SO ANNOYING. EDIT: Oh WTF Asus software is using 4% CPU right now. WTF who programmed this? </rant>
  25. G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3600Mhz Memory. Model: F4-3600C17D-16GTZR It says it is optimized for Ryzen, although there aren't much reviews on it for me to settle on it, so I'm curious if this is the best RAM to get since it's at 3600mhz and 16-18-18-38 Latency. Or should I just get the G.Skill Flare X 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200Mhz Memory Black instead? I'm open to all opinions, so feel free to give any extra info if you want.
