Hello everyone, Today's question is the difference between G.SKILL's F4-3200C16Q-64GTZKW ($750 usd) and F4-3200C15Q-64GTZSW ($850 usd). To my untrained eye, they're both 4x16gb sets of DDR4-3200 RAM and should perform exactly the same. What is the difference that I'm missing, and what is the benefit to the $850 offering (if any)? so choosing the ram and i found a g.skill 3200mhz 3200mhz ripjaws v kit for 165$ and the trident z rgb witch i really like costs 212$ .. so is that the normal price difrence from non rgb to rgb ? or should i just go with the non rgb ? -
does the ram latency make a difrence for gaming ? im getting a 2x8 3200 c16 g.skill kit and its 195$ and the c14 version is 250$ is it worth it ? the cpu is ryzen 2700x

Alright, I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I do anything wrong. I had recently purchased some G.Skill Trident Z memory only to release there was Trident Z memory specifically for Ryzen 2. I'm not sure if it will work and I'm hoping someone can atleast tell me if it will work or won't. I have no way of sending it back either because I live in such a remote country, Barbados, and the shipping costs would be astronomical. F4-3200C16D-16GTZR this is the model. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I'm building my first rig and as of the moment I've bought most of the parts but lack the Motherboard and SSD. Processor - Ryzen 7 2700x Ram - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200mhz GPU - Msi Armor Rx580 PSU - Silverstone Strider Gold 750 Case - Tecware Verge Hdd - WDC Black So I'm torn between the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 x470 and Asus rog Crosshair 7 x470, Gigabyte is readily available here in the Philippines but that specific Asus model is 1 month to order. Not in a hurry to finish my build though. Was supposedly going for the gigabyte but I've read that the g.skill rgb doesn't work well on it anyone can help me which to choose? -
I did a new build about two weeks ago and I only bought one stick of RAM. It was only 4gb so I need more now. the first stick I had was a 4gb stick of g.skill Aegis running at 2400mhz. I need to know if I get another stick of memory that is a different brand like Patriot will they both work fine or even in dual channel? Thanks for the help

Hello, Because of the current memory pricing, I recently bought 1 stick RAM of https://www.google.com/search?q=F4-3200C16D-32GTZ I'll be buying an i7 8700K platform in the next two months. Will this be a problem if I install this single stick RAM? Will I be able to overclock it to the full 3200MHz? I know it is not recommended but if I buy another single RAM stick from this , and pair up with the upper one, will it run in Dual Channel mode? And yes, we can buy single stick RAMs in my country. On g.skill ram QVL taichi is listed. But on asrock taichi QVL https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z370 Taichi/index.asp#Memory there are no any of 32gb s listed. Also with asrock fatality. But on asus strix z370-E http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_STRIX_Z370-E_GAMING/ROG-STRIX-Z370-E-GAMING_Memory-QVL_20180223.pdf my desired RAM is listed, what should i trust? Maybe something from gygabite or MSI? -
Hey. I ordered a GA-AB350M-DS3H motherboard for my ryzen 2200G APU. I found a fast ram stick (2800MHz ) for cheap : G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB DDR4-2800MHz (F4-2800C17S-8GVR) I looked in the motherboard website, and the exactly specific module is not listed in the "supported memories" . However, the supported ones look very similar and I thought maybe they just didn't test it or something since it doesn't seem like the most popular one out there.. I also saw people using this ram successfully with ryzen. So what do you say, should i go for it? -

I just built a new system: -Threadripper 1900X -ASRock X399 Taichi sTR4 -16GB G.Skill TridentZ 3200MHz I managed to get what seems like a stable overclock on the CPU at 4.1GHz but no matter what I try to do to the RAM it refuses to budge from 1000MHz. I will admit that I didn't know there was RAM designed specifically for Threadripper when I bought this RAM but it seems a bit ridicules that it's only running at 1/3 it's rated speed. I'm using both CPU-Z and AMD Ryzen Master to check it's speed and they both show about 1068MHz. The only thing I've managed to do is set the RAMs Voltage to the proper 1.35v. It was originally running at 2.8v. When I try changing it's operating frequency it doesn't do anything no matter what I set it to. The other strange thing is the BIOS claims the RAM is 2100MHz (or something around there).

I own 16GB of G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz speed but have not been able to reach that frequency. I have an intel core i7 8700k that I have overclocked to 5.0Ghz at 1.345v, but when I go to overclock my memory, I cannot reach speeds faster than 2666 MHz. My motherboard is the ASUS z370 Maximus Hero AC/Wifi edition. I have read online that integrated memory controllers on motherboards might affect ram speeds. Is it just my motherboard that is limiting my speeds, or is there another factor here that I am missing. Also, I have my overclock profile set on XMP. Thanks

Hey, guys, I'm asking this question just to make sure before I make this purchase. I currently have in my ryzen build 16gb of - G.skill 3200 flare x and I need more memory and I wanted to add a little more RGB so i was looking at the the trident 3200 rgb. Could i not use two different sets of memory because of the different timings?

My six year old 3770K rig finally kicked the bucket so it's about time I upgraded. I'm keeping most of my old rig intact so all I need is a CPU, MoBo and RAM. Like most people it seems, I'm building a dual purpose system. Editing (adobe) and gaming. I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible of course but expect to be spending somewhere in the vicinity of $1500. After researching CPUs I find myself leaning towards the Threadripper 1900X. It seems like a better offer than intel's similarly priced i7-7820X but I could be wrong. The motherboard I was looking at to go along with the 1900X is the MSI X399 GAMING PRO and 32GB of G.SKILL TridentZ RGB RAM. (Will I be able to control the RAMs lighting with that board?) So my question is, is Threadripper overkill considering I'm a film maker who's basically constantly editing? I don't use After Effects very often but would like to change that in the future.

my G.Skill Trident Z RGB RAM is always switching to it's default rainbow effect. I always have to restart my PC when I want to switch the color because it's a bit broken and such. but the main problem and question is that can I save my applied settings? it's always reverting back to rainbow mode when I turn off my PC. maybe there is and my RAM is just messed up.

Help Overclocking RAM to 3200hz - (2 x 16GB)

I recently upgraded my RAM from these G.SKILL Ripjaws V (2 x 8GB) to these G.SKILL TridentZ (2 x 16GB). I've been trying to overclock the TridentZs but haven't been able to get past 2800MHz and stay stable. I haven't OC'd the CPU at the moment if that can be a contributing factor. Anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to reach 3200MHz? I have 2 kits of 2x8gb dual channel 3600mhz g.skill ram (model F4-3600C17D-16GTZR) installed in my asus maximus ix hero motherboard with 4 dual channel slots for ram. But I've recently experienced 2 crashes, 1 bluescreen and 1 random loss of display. I'm pretty sure this is because I'm using 2 kits of 2x8gb ram instead of 1 kit of 4x8gb, so the timings arent configured for 2 kits to work together. Does this sound like something that could easily be fixed by reconfiguring the timings? If so, how can i do this? And what should i use for my configuration? If this ends up being a bit too complicated or less reliable than just 1 kit of 4x8, I'm probably just going to refund my 2nd kit while i can and live with 16gb for a while.

Ok guys. A friend of mine recently bought and built his own PC with my help and wants to try overclocking. First off, specs. Ryzen 5 1600X ASRock B350 itx/ac G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3000 (16GBs) GTX 1070 500W PSU aaand other stuff His PC booted up just fine... everything worked until we enabled either XMP-Profiling or overclocked his 1600X. To be fair, his processor is "only" running at 3.8Ghz and we wanted to try to get the RAM to 3200Mhz. BUT As soon as we restarted from the BIOS, the PC would boot loop 3-6 times No idea why, after that it starts just fine. Also, I set his 1600X to 3.825Mhz at 1.3375V and in CPU-Z this shows up: Any ideas on how to fix either of those oddities?

rgb Pulling the trigger on Trident Z RGB Ram

So, its been 2 weeks and i have entered my vacation and i am getting pretty impatient cause the stupid ram i want is out of stock (Corsair Vengeance RGB, since i heard it have better compatibility with msi boards). I Decided that i do not want to waste my vacation just waiting for parts and just pull the trigger on the Trident Z RGB. May god help me if this combo does not work as i have an MSI Z370 krait gaming board, and i heard bad things about G.Skill refusing to play nice on non Asus boards. I just hope i do not end up bricking my ram. Please note that i am only referring to controlling the RGB part, not about ram being compatible with the board since its a DDR4 ram and it is compatible, but that is not the reason am worried .. When am buying an RGB ram i would like to control its RGB too without corrupting the SPD or bricking the Ram. All this makes me think, Is the RGB ram even worth it? or am i just better off buying an general ram. I mean i do like the flashy RGB stuff but not when they are ultra super buggy as they are right now, at least not at the risk of bricking the ram or corrupting its SPD's. So are they worth it? -

Since pcpartpicker didn't detect any incompatibilities I went ahead and bought it but now I am having doubts...I am seeing posts of people that say they can't get the ram to max speed? System Configuration: Motherboard: Asus Prime B350-Plus bios version 1002 CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 Memory: 16GB DDR4-3000 G.Skill F4-3000C16D-16GTZR GPU: Palit GTX 1060 3GB VBIOS: 86.06.11.00.48 Driver: Geforce 388.16 OS: Windows 10 x64 (16299.125) Ok I'll give a quick run up timeline wise until the problem started. Built the rig about two months ago and upon first boot DOCP would not work. No problem updated to bios version 1002 which addressed all the past problem with DDR4 compatibility. After flashing the bios the docp profile loaded up just fine and I had the Ryzen oc'ed to 3.7 and everything was stable after running some stress tests. Fast foward to yesterday. For reasons I wanted to turn off SMT to check performance on an application without the use of virtual threads. So I go into bios and disable smt and go to reboot. I got the dreaded triple flash on the keyboard lights (num lock, caps, scroll lock) and the system posted into safe mode. Uh oh I thought I guess turning off SMT isn't going to work so I go back in and enable it and reset again. Still flashing lights and posting back to safe mode. I'm panicking now so I restore the entire bios to optimized defaults. System boots up fine. I immediately open up cpu-z, gpu-z, hwinfo64 to run a check on all the numbers. It all looks good. So I reboot again into bios and set the exact same Ryzen OC and RAM DOCP settings I had before. Triple flash again. Fast forward 3 hours of me turning off and on settings to see what will post. Finally I narrowed it down to the ram. The system will post with any OC on the ryzen I enter but the RAM HAS TO BE set to auto to post @ 2133 with the non-oc timings of 15-16-16-16-36 1T. So I thought ok well I've read docp doesn't work for everyone and I'll just manually enter the xmp profile settings. Nothing worked. Then I did another simpler test to see what's going on so I defaulted all the ram timings to auto to wipe all my changes, did a reboot to make sure it does boot. Got into windows fine. Verified the default 15-16-16-16-36 1T timings and went back into bios and changed only one thing, manually set CL to 15 instead of having auto. This SHOULD work since that's what's been posting and verified in windows. NO POST, triple flash. Go back to bios and changed cL15--> auto. posts again just fine. So essentially what I've discovered is that if I manually enter ANY value into DRAM Timings, the system will not post even if the timing is what auto would have selected. Does anyone have any idea wtf is going on with my system? -
Sorry for posting so many questions about the ram but as you can see i am growing very very impatient. This time around i'll try to calm down and try to explain as clear as i can so i can get better help. Ram and motherboard are the 2 last pars i need to build my pc and i am stuck on them So please help. I want an rgb ram i had my eyes set on Corsair vengeance RGB since they had a wide range of compatibility but the thing is they are out of stock with no expected restock date available. Its soo frustrating like i already waited a month to get my CPU and GPU and now i am stuck on the Ram. Should have bought the ram when it was available .. So i am becoming desperate and very impatient as i have everything literally everything except the ram and motherboard. I have waited soo long (started buying parts in October, now its 31st December) So i decided to go with the G.Skill Trident Z RBG Ram which are available, but the thing is G.Skill is only compatible with Asus boards or so it was when it was launched. I have my eyes set on the MSI Z370 KRAIT GAMING, since i have a non K Chip this board should be okay and its got a pretty good power delivery and is feature set and comes with quiet a lot of accessories. I have looked everywhere and was unable to find a solid answer to my question. The question is Will the G. SKILL Trident Z RGB RAM be compatible with the MSI mystic light software ? and by compatible i mean can i control the RAM RGB's using MSI software ? I dont want to use 2 different software's cause there are plenty of ways that can go wrong (am absent minded so i will mess things up easily without knowing) like killing off the Ram kinda bad things. Or should i just suck it up and buy an Asus board which will work with the G.Skill RBG Ram (Asus Strix Z370-F to be specific) that comes with lesser Features and have fewer RGB on board and looks a lot less cooler and no accessories. I really like that MSI board cause it looks way too cool (personal preferences).
