  1. okay so I spilled soda on my keyboard about a week ago. I went through and cleaned the affected, sticky switches with rubbing alcohol and a Qtip however my keyboard has a volume wheel in the top right corner, it feels very sticky and it kind of grinds a little when I turn it. could there be soda in the turning mechanism? or did the rubbing alcohol possibly remove the grease on the spinning parts? I just need to know if regular mechanical keyboard grease could be applied to this or if it would cause some form of problem with the wheel and mess it up. also I know this sounds really weird but there's still some sticky keys, would my keyboard be able to be put in the dishwasher. the model is RIPJAWS KM780 MX and it's featuring MX brown switches. I know that the dishwasher method is dangerous but I'm VERY specific about my keyboards tactile feedback and the soda is on the inside peg of the switch, making it nearly impossible to get it loose without bathing the thing in something.

  5. Hello, I have a 16gb kit TridentZ RGB 3200mhz and a few days ago without updating any drivers or anything I discovered that one of the sticks's RGB is slightly faster and that makes it out of sync. When i tried to fix it via the Asus Aura software the app crashed immediately after I opened it. So i tried the newest version, some older versions, the tridentz software and none of them started. I updated the BIOS but that didnt help either. My motherboard is x470 Prime Pro currently running a 2600x. There are so many people that got the same problem as me but i coulnd't find a fix.
  6. Hello, I would like to know which RAM brands are the best for laptop gaming regarding speed and performance and WHY? MSI GE63 8RF-099CA (32GB 2666MHz SODIMM at lower latency) Also, where would I find the RAM at a cheaper price? Thank You
  7. I have an Asrock Taichi x399 MB with 6x16GB G.Skill Trident RGB RAM which would total to 96GB. Is it bad in any way to populate 6/8 slots on the motherboard with RAM? Will it affect the system badly? In the memory configuration recommendations for the MB the table only shows 2, 4 or 8 sticks. Will Quad Channel still be activated with 6 sticks of RAM? I ask because usually I have only seen like 16, 32, 64 or 128GB but not 96. Is there a reason behind that? Any help is much appreciated!
  8. G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3600Mhz Memory. Model: F4-3600C17D-16GTZR It says it is optimized for Ryzen, although there aren't much reviews on it for me to settle on it, so I'm curious if this is the best RAM to get since it's at 3600mhz and 16-18-18-38 Latency. Or should I just get the G.Skill Flare X 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200Mhz Memory Black instead? I'm open to all opinions, so feel free to give any extra info if you want.
  9. So a while ago, my ram speed was running comfortable at 2933 Mhz (it was a 2x8 g.skill ripjaws v 3200mhz kit). But then, I upgraded to 32 gigs of ram (4x8 of the same memory) because I use apps like Solidworks and Oculus Medium, which are pretty RAM intensive. So now, my computer crashes at anything above 2666 Mhz, and none of the XMP profiles work either. Is there anyway to fix this? And what is the root of the problem? My motherboard? The processor? The RAM itself? I'll list those things below. Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.6Ghz 1.2750v G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200Mhz 4x8 32Gb 16-16-18-38 MSI B350 Tomahawk Motherboard
  10. Hi all! Just signed up on this forum and I would like some opinions on my upgrade that i'm thinking about. I'm from Sweden so I won't include prices in the post since that would be hard to compare SEK with US$. I'm thinking of buying these parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/z82vbX Now, my question is if that the memory that I have choosen will work on that MB, the specific partnumber is not listed on the QVL but according to this: http://www.userbenchmark.com/System/Asus-ROG-STRIX-B450-F-GAMING/93471 alot of people are using this combination? Also it seems that the memory I have chosen for this build is based on Hynix M-die, can I suspect some worse results in overclocking my memory than using Samsung die memory? Thanks in advance!
  11. Hello again, today is the day I get to build, bitch, go to best but or micro center, build again, and go get a beer. I originally went Intel 2066, with a EVGA DARK. I returned that for a ASUS ROG ZENITH ($400 even a good price?) and went with a AMD TR4 1920X (again was $400 even a good price). I have a Corsair CMW16GX4M2C3600C18 and G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GVGB ram. Corsair is $210, and G.Skill is 134. I did read I am willing to buy more RAM on BF, but this get the system up and runnning. Bar the idiotic LEDS, is it worth the difference for the $75, for 400hrz? I haven't posted the system with the RAM either, so bar none, it could come down to compatibility. Can anyone refer me to memory benchmark software, if both post, and I wanted to see the difference, or should I just use some in game bench marks and cinebench? I'm going to try to be diligence, and post my results,. Second, anyone want to throw their hat into the ring about the SSD RAID vs NVME? Onboard vs Hardware Raid. The card is Adaptec RAID 6805E Storage Controller, which is a pce 1x. The board has raid on it, AMD X399 chipset : 6 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), Support Raid 0, 1, 10 I am going to try to make sure to disable the appropriate things in bios before testing the system. The drive are Intel 540, x4, vs Samsung Evo 970. Any help would be awesome! Thanks in Advance, AKV
  12. Ok, so I have a Ryzen 5 1600 on a MSI B350 Tomahawk paired with 32 GBs of G.Skill Ripjaws V (16 GB of which I added recently). I've been experiencing a lot of blue screens, and getting stopcodes such as kernel_security_check_failure and system_service_exception. I was continuously having these errors until I found that either lowering the memory speed or adjusting to the appropriate timings has fixed the issue for now. My question is: Do bad memory timings cause these blue screens? Or is it something else?
  13. My motherboard is Asus EX 320 gaming motherboard - Link processor is Amd Ryzen 3 2200G , zotac geforce gtx 1050Ti and finally my RAM is G.SKILL Ripjaws F4-3000C15D-8GVRB 8GB(1 x 8)- link Although my current RAM speed is 3000Mhz it can't go beyond 2400Mhz because that's the speed supported by my Asus Ex 320 gaming motherboard, also in the beginning i found in windows task manager that my ram current speed was 2133 MHz, then later found that is the default speed of a DDR4 memory and changed it manually to 2400Mhz in bios settings, and also found that the advertised latency of my ram is 15-16-16-35 but in CPU-z it shows So now i am thinking of adding extra 8GB RAM to pair with my G.SKILL Ripjaws F4-3000C15D-8GVRB 8GB So please suggest me a specific RAM which i should buy and it must be compatible with the already existing G.SKILL Ripjaws F4-3000C15D-8GVRB 8GB. Also please give me the link of the RAM's official brand site for my reference.
  14. I have 2x G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) Trident Z RGB DDR4 3000MHz CL14 (F4-3000C14D-32GTZR) - 128GB in total. Which x399 motherboard will most likely support this RAM? What about the boards from Asrock (Taichi or Fatal1ty? Any input is much appreciated!
  15. Hello, I am having an issue with my G.skill trident Z rgb lighting. When i boot up PC and open mystic light there is no issue to set the lighting as i want it but as soon as i put PC to sleep and wake it up again it goes to default light setting and when i try to controll it with mystic light it goes bonkers and starts flickering. Tried both mystic light with and without Gskill own software and neither works. I am conssidering switching it to corsair vengeance rgb pro just to be on the safe side as many people claim this flickering on trident might damage it. Anyone has any knowledge of compatibility issues on corsair and their lights or solution for trident issue? Spec: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x MoBo: MSI B450 Gaming Carbon Pro AC RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB CL15 3000Mhz
  16. I have an ASRock AB350M Pro4 motherboard and a Ryzen 3 1200 a GTX 750 with 2x4gb G.skill Aegis ddr4 and they are 2400mhz stock. I have come to the conclusion that the RAM is causing something to happen where it starts artifacting in games and blue screens every 2 hours of gaming. I know it's not the GPU because I've swapped it out for a different one and the artifacting still occurs. Can someone see if I have the RAM in the wrong spots or at the wrong speeds or something? Motherboard specs: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350M Pro4/index.asp#Specification RAM specs: https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16820232256 I have the RAM in slots a2 and b2 and they are set to 2400mhz (not auto) and when I change it to auto the RAM underclocks to 2133 Someone tell me if it's user error or the RAM is having compatibility issues.
  17. so thetitle really says it all, i bought 4 sticks of G.skill ripjaws V 8gb, but speccy and windows is saying i have 64 gb after i switched it out. any help would be appreciated
  18. After getting the email that I won the 8086k on a whim, I almost couldn't contain myself. I was in the middle of calculus, so not like I had a choice anyway. It almost seemed to good to be real, and I hadn't even planned on upgrading because of how well my gold sample 4790k was running (4.7GHz on 1.2 V, what a dream). One silicon lottery to the next with me, I suppose, even though it was a different kind of lottery. To begin with, this build is a trio of triumphs for me. First of all, it's exciting to have cutting edge hardware. This CPU gave me the chance to have all current gen hardware in my PC for the first and probably only time (I love saving money on used stuff, so future upgrades will likely be eBay.) Second of all, it's vindictive. I remember reading the comments on a tech news site declaring the leak of the 8086k as an homage to the original 8086. Some snarky asshole in the comments was putting people down for thinking it would be an i7, declaring from on high that given Intel's nomenclature, the number scheme fell into i3 territory. I didn't bother commenting, because I knew as soon as the CPU hit the market, he'd be proven wrong. And third, this build has a somewhat unique sentimental value to me. My dad told me after I won that he used to have an 8086 powered PC way back in the day, and It made me all the more excited to reintroduce that into the household. I know it's not all that special because loads of people had the 8086 (kind of the reason there's a CPU dedicated to its legacy). Enough of that, let's talk tech. I started this build in complete agony. On around July 6th, my Z97-AR crapped out. BIOS update said it completed properly, PC went to restart automatically, and suddenly unfixable boot loop. I sent it in to ASUS, they said it was FUBAR, so I paid for a replacement. Thus begun an infuriating song and dance of them sending me a P8H61-I motherboard back and forth over and over again, me getting "elevated" to customer support levels, and generally a lot of phone calls and slow email correspondence. I have always loved the quality and performance of ASUS products, but this was just to much for me. I decided to go with the EVGA Z370 Classified k. Feature packed, with USB 3.1 type C and an internal header to fuel my expansion card obsessed upgrade path. The only drawback of the Z370 platform upgrade is that it seems every single motherboard disables SATA ports to "share bandwidth" with M.2 slots. Why would SATA bandwidth be needed for M.2? I thought the point was to use PCIe instead. Regardless, The heat sink design was too appealing to pass up. The surface area is much higher than most boards, with enough room for my Hyper 212 EVO, which I will be using long term now that I see just how well its doing, even on a 6 core chip. Luckily, there is plenty of RAM clearance with that cooler, so using my sexy new kit of G.Skill Trident Z RGB was utterly painless. I went all out because the value of my old parts is much higher than that of my new parts on account of getting the CPU free, so I'm selling them to my friend to break even and splurged on some DDR4 3200 to really round things out. My concern with M.2 bandwidth stems from the fact that I use a Corsair Force MP500 as a boot drive. My newest and fastest storage device, I transitioned to this as my boot drive but have kept all my old drives as mass storage since (which I have needed because they are all mostly full of games). I have a meme hard drive from an old cheese grater mac, and a DVD drive as well, neither of which can be used at the moment until I can acquire both a new PCIe to 2x SATA internal card as well as a molex to SATA power to reach the DVD drive. I also use an expansion card for my eSATA HDD, which includes an internal USB 3.0 header for my front SATA/compact storage reader. The thing is janky as hell, and I love it (pictured below). Ultimately, this build went almost perfectly. I replaced my old power supply because it had some quirks due to age, and modular has never felt better. Still, I wish the windows install on my boot drive didn't have to get wiped, but I backed everything I wanted up to my old hard drive, so I'm not particularly upset outside of the busywork required to set up my desktop again.
  19. Hey, I have the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard and the G.Skill TridentZ RGB RAM. I am using the Gigabyte "RGB Fusion" Software to disable some LEDs on my motherboard and the Asus Aura software to adjust the color of my G.Skill RAM. While the Gigabyte software can change the color of the G.Skill RAM it can't adjust the zones individually like the Aura and G.Skills own software can. G.Skills own software is really bad too because you can't type in color codes and stuff. It's just really bad software. That's why I'm using the Asus Aura software. It is not capable of adjusting each RAM stick individually like the G.Skill software can but it can at least change the individual lighting zones on the RAM. Here's my problem: Asus software autostarts on bootup and changes the RAM color to what I want it to be, then after that the slow RGB Fusion software starts and changes motherboard color + overrides the RAM color. Now I have to open the asus software, change to another effect, save, then switch back to the effect I want and save again. EACH TIME I start the computer. This is so ridiculously annoying. I just want to tell the Gigabyte software to ignore the G.Skill RAM. I do not want it to interface with it in any way. <rant> Offtopic: This whole having to use several different softwares is starting to annoy me tbh. I'm already using Corsair LL fans, a corsair keyboard and a corsair mouse so I am probably just going to bite the bullet and switch to Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB RAM in the future. All this bad RGB LED Software is just fkn annoying. Why do companies release a product with crappy software like that that probably was thrown together in a day or two. I am now using Corsair iCue, Asus Aura Sync, EVGA Precision X (that's fine. I use it for OCing and changing GPU LED color), NZXT CAM and Gigabyte RGB Fusion. SO ANNOYING. EDIT: Oh WTF Asus software is using 4% CPU right now. WTF who programmed this? </rant>
  20. Vengeance® Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 SODIMM 2666MHz CL18 Memory Kit (SKU CMSX32GX4M2A2666C18) VS G.Skill Ripjaws 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 SODIMM (F4-2666C18D-32GRS) Which one is better ? Or Kingston Or HYPERX??
  21. Hello everyone, would wanna ask help in overclocking my RAM (2x8gb Trident Z rgb 3200mhz C16D-16GTZR, 16-18-18-38 1.35v) on my asus x470 strix board. I'm really not versed in OC and when I checked it was just running on 2133mhz and changed it to 3200mhz in bios it crashed after a few sec into windows hahaha would greatly appreciate if anyone with the same board and ram could guide me Thanks!
  22. FX 6300 R9 270x 2GB G Skill 8GBx2 MB: GA-78LMT-S2 Rev.1.2 WIndows 10 Okay iit started happening last night. Game was running fine on Highest with 30-50 FPS. But now game is lagging alot for some reason I am getting 1-20 FPS temperatures were fine but when i checked i saw 96 C. I changed the thermal paste and cleaned every dust from it. But today i checked the temperatures were like OMG!..I was checking temperature all the time didn't notice this much... I mean how can a system be still on while CPU is at 200+ C? I think my CPU is damaged now. Temperatures- It never happened before. Last time I updated my Windows Since then it started happening Any solution will be appreciated, thanks! [Edit] 2FPS in Assassin's Creed Unity even on the lowest settings. Is it the RAM? because AC Rouge is running at 60 FPS. It is only occupying 3 GB of RAM [Edit 2] I am on a mission in witcher 3 in which game is running smoothly at 40 FPS but all those FPS is driven by graphic card. Average CPU usage is around 10-20. Now CPU is bottlenecking but temperatures are all normal never cross 45
  23. So I recently bought a ASRock Z370 Taichi and G.Skill TridentZ RGB 16GB DDR4 3200. Will I need to overclock my motherboard to fit the 3200 speed?
  24. So really quickly, I just have a memory compatibility question as well as some clarifying questions regarding Threadripper. Background info, intending to run a 1950X Threadripper chip on an Asus Zenith Extreme motherboard. Because across the internet I have heard the crazy cross talk of latency vs clock speed, I am now looking to capitalize in theoretical stability between the two. Is Threadripper a chip that favors clock speed, if even only to a certain point? I have also checked the motherboards QVL for memory but again have heard ludicrous amounts of conflicting thoughts. So for the memory question, does the following kit work on an Asus Zenith Extreme Motherboard with a 1950X Threadripper? Some more info, according to some very in depth users over on the overclock forums, this is a set of Rank 2 B-die memory from Samsung's manufacturing. This is also the kit I am most concerned with. Note the QVL for the Asus Zenith extreme did not specify G.Skill above 3200MHz, so I do not want to hear about the QVL, I am interested in real world tests by people who own the components mentioned. Thank you.
  25. After failing to work properly, I tried to uninstall and reinstall g.skll's trident z rgb software. However, every time I try to enter the setup wizard, I am always greeted with the same "CATASTROPHIC FAILURE" popup. How can I solve this?
