Motherboard: Gigabyte ga z97x-sli lga 1150 Ram: g.skill ripjaws x series 16 gb (2x8) ddr3 1866 Processor: Intell Core i7 4790k I might want to sell my old computer in the future, but I have an issue with the ram where i might not beable to sell all of the machine. The ram only works in the 1 and 2 slot positions instead of 1 and 3 like normal modern pc's. I don't know how dual channel or single channel ram works I've tried all other combinations and even tried putting 4 of the same modules in. I was wondering if that's a thing with the type of motherboard I have, is it a setting I need to configure, or is something wrong with the ram slots or bent cpu pins?

Hello! I'm going to keep this short, if someone could provide insight that would be great. I have a ASUS WS PRO x570-Ace and G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3466mhz ram (Single) 64GB ram, running a Ryzen 9 3900x A handfull of times the sytem would run 3466mhz cl16, then just refuse to boot with it and resort to 2100 standard. The XMP settings doesn't work (3466) Manual setting the XMP settings does not work (3466) Dram Calculator full manual settings (including voltage, bus clock, cpu et) does not work. (3466) XMP sttings done manuall works to 3200mhz with cl22. Dram calculator full manual brings me 3200mhz cl 16 with decent timings. Either the startup fails 3 times goes into safe mode, or completely black screen. BSOD once when only voltage was bumped to 1.4v on the XMP settings. Ram-tests shows modules works as intended. Question: is there a compability issue with my ram sticks and the motherboard= is there a chance that they are not working correctly? They are single and not dual. Is this a problem populating all ram slots? Is there settings I'm for sure is missing in the bios Why won't the System / CPU / MB accept anything above 3200mhz? If anyone has ANY insight on this. Maybe you have the board yourselve? Please help a fellow out.

I'm falling down a rabbit hole of RAM options. Right now I have an intel CPU but I will be upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 soon so I need to take RAM into consideration. I'm looking at 2 sets in particular: G.Skill TridentZ 4x 8gb 3600 CAS 19 $189 (sale) G.Skill TridentZ 2x 16gb 3200 CAS 16 $169 (sale) I know Ryzen likes 3600 better, but considering I'll be running in dual channel, I wonder if I'll take a performance hit with 4 sticks as opposed to 2. I'll be getting a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite if that matters. My use case leans more towards video editing/rendering than gaming, so I also wonder if having a CAS of 19 even matters for hyperthreaded workloads. I can probably tighten the timings of the 3600 RAM, but with 4 sticks it might be more difficult. Plus I read that it puts strain on the memory controller? I can't really find any information on this besides people saying it on forums. Then again, x4 RGB vs x2 RGB.. XD Please help... my brain hurts >_<

I got a G.Skill KM780R MX keyboard (the non-RGB version, though it still has red lights), and there's a few problems with the software: It's incredibly slow and nothing saves (I'm sure it does but it takes longer than 10 minutess, 'cause that's the longest I'm willing to wait). It never stops loading. There's some sort of problem with the lighting tab. In the software manual on page 28, there's a picture of what the UI in said tab should look like: the keyboard, with options for whole-keyboard effect lighting and background lighting. I don't have the background lighting tab, and therefore can't set single-key lighting. This is a bit of a problem for me because part of the reason I got this keyboard is that it's supposed to be able to do that. I was going to light different keys for different games (e.g. osu, FPS games, etc.). It looks like they dodged the question in their FAQ. The question was "Why can't I change lighting or program a specific key on my keyboard", to which they just said something along the lines of "make sure you have the latest software and firmware installed" (which I do). Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hello Guys First of all I want to state my current PC Config: Since GPU had died I thought of buying a new GPU with 20000 INR Budget. But then I realized I should move to Ryzen series but that will cost even more because I will have to do a full system upgrade. So... I am planning on building a Ryzen PC. Since I am to build a gaming PC but currently spending on the important parts (Mobo, RAM, CPU only so that my PC atleast could turn on and I could do my work. Parts that I have selected so far... Note: I will be posting products with price in INR (Indian Rupees) & USD (United States Dollar) I am actually confused in Motherboards. Both of them have same features only the size difference that I have noticed so far. I like the ATX more . It also has a bigger chipset Heatsink & looks better but it is ~$16 costlier. For Ram I am planing to get a RGB one. I am not getting 2x 8GB because it will go out of budget. I will add another stick later. Note: One more thing to notice that I will not be playing much games but when I will be playing, I will only be playing AAA games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, etc. Mostly i will be doing computer programming, 2D game designing. Working with Unity Engine, Adobe Illustrator, Java etc. So without GPU it will be hard but I will manage as I am managing for 2 months without GPU on current build and even without any graphics driver because my current motherboard doesn't support drivers for Windows 10. So... Alternate Build: I am thinking of getting APU so that I could work as well as play games until I get a GPU. Case*: I will be upgrading the CPU later on and sell the current one. I will get two 8 GB RAMs in this build. Case**: Already costly enough I will not be upgrading 3400g for a good while and also I will choose MicroATX with it. I will also get the GPU later on in both cases but i will loose the power of CPU ? Now suggest me whatever is best. My Budget will remain 20000 INR I can stretch it to 21k-22k only. Please don't suggest an Intel build ?? because I have already looked into it. And Intel Motherboards are too costly here in India. Also I am not going to buy any CPU cooler. GPU I will be getting is- GTX 1660 6GB (Non-Ti) || RX 580 8GB but that's a later case. Thank You

Hey,I am building a PC and am wondering, which of these RAMs is better? (I haven't heard of INNO3D iCHILL before) And would the INNO3D iCHILL ram be okay? The inno3d ichill RAM was offered by a local company, I am trying to see their price for the PC that I am planning on building and they didn't have all the parts that I had picked so they changed a few things.INNO3D iCHILL RGB DDR4 16GB KIT 2x8GB, 3000Mhz, CL16, RGB, 1.35VG.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Thanks,Rasmus

Hi All, I am planning a build with following parts Msi B450 Tomahawk AMD Ryzen 5 3600 My concern is the RAM Every online retailer in India including Amazon, Vedant Computers, MD Computers, PrimeABGB, etc. has this RAM listed- G.Skill RipJaws VF4-3200C16S-8GVKB But this model doesn't even exist on G.Skill Website and also this isn't listed in the motherboard memory compatibility list of B450 Tomahawk. Please help will this work or not? Same case is with 2 other RAM sticks from ADATA and Corsair their model number also don't exist on their website. I need total 16 gigs 3200 MHz, I can't go for a dual channel kit coz that's much expensive to buy as compared to 2 such (above mentioned) sticks. I think the S here stands for Single Channel because those kits mention D. and that thing exists even on the mobo ram compatibility list. Thankyou

Hello everyone. I've recently bought this combo: MB: ASUS Prime X470-PRO CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2600X RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX) That particular memory kit is on Asus QVL list and should run at 3600MHz yet it won't run faster than 2800MHz. I managed to pull off 3000MHz with LOWER than initial timings (16-36) but no luck from there on. Any suggestions?

Hello there, I bought 1 stick of each, and I found out that the dual channel won't work as well as the timmings are not the same. Yet I haven't had any issues with the memory, and was able to bring it to 2400mh from 2133mh. 4gb Ram - https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15s-4gis 15-15-15-35 (2400mh) 8gb Ram - https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c17s-8gis 17-17-17-39 (2400mh) I am trying to fix this/work around it if possible and some advice would be much appreciated. Q: If I bought 2 more 4gb ram of the same specs (https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_1326&item_id=092276) would I be able to run all 4 channels properly despite the memory size and latency of the 8gb? or Q: Should I buy the same 8gb ram (https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-8gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232599) and end my misery? Q: Would a quad channel of 4gb ram with smaller latency be more efficient & effective than a dual channel 8gb ram with higher latency? Open to any advice/suggestions. Setup: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 (clocked at 3.85) GPU: GTX 1060 3gb SCOC MB: Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM AM4 RAM: 8gb & 4gb G.Skill Aegis 2400mh (<- who TF does that) Cooling: AIO water cooler SSD: 250gb SATA: 2TB 7200rpm

Hello, Last time I bought a PC was my 11in Alienware Laptop back in 2009 or so. I don't know much about building a PC...was gonna go with a PC Builder like Maingear of Falcon Northwest but figure building it myself...I can get better parts of the same money. I started researching online..found Linus (I'm from Vancity), JayTwoCents, Bitwit, HardwareCanucks...the Verge ?... Building a PC doesn't seem too difficult...I have friends that have built pc's before and youtube how to's. I have enjoyed DYI recently on other tasks I have done. I don't really care about cost. I plan to game, watch movies, render videos for a possible YouTube channel I'm thinking about doing...plus all the other normal stuff. I'm not interested in AIO or liquid cooling...I prefer fan only. I would like it to be as quiet as possible, have good thermals, preferably power efficient when idle, when doing normal tasks, when rendering, and then whatever load happens when gaming at max settings. This is what I've researched and intend to purchase...I've definitely learned a lot the last couple of weeks. I also am open to AMD Ryzen...so this might change if I go with Ryzen. If you have a Ryzen build with flagship parts like best mobo...please let me know. I didn't look into Ryzen but read a new chip is coming out soon. The parts: Case: Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic (Black) CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K 8 core Heat Sink: Noctua NH-U12A Case Fans: Noctua NF-A12x25 120mm 4-pin PWM fans (probably like 9 fans...3 side, 3 bottom, 2 top and 1 back...I'll configure it for good airflow) Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 GODLIKE RAM: 32gb (2x16) G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 MHz. (doesn't have to be RGB) GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming 11 GB GDDR6 Hard drive: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 Internal SSD Storage: Samsung 860 Pro V-Nand 1TB SSD SATA SSD Power Supply (PSU): EVGA Supernova 750 G3, 80 plus gold Monitor: Dell Alienware 1900R 34.1 curved monitor. Must be G-Sync tho. Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Mouse: Steelseries Rival 600 Gaming Mouse ---------- Anyway...I would really appreciate any comments...if there are problems with the parts or compatibility issues. I don't plan to buy in a month or two. Also, if any of the hardware have issues...quality issues, etc...please let me know. Some areas I think could be different are the power supply...not sure how much power I need...I used online calculator. Also the M.2 drive...I could go with 512 GB...using it mainly for operating system, video editing, and storing important files like documents. The 2.5 SSD for games and general storage. Thanks...I really appreciate any input. Toasted_Oats ------------ PS. I went to PC Part Picker and had this "Compatibility Note" (curious if that is a concern or what it means...does that mean if I were to buy three M.2 SSDs, I cannot have three 2.5 SSDs in exchange?) The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. The motherboard M.2 slot #2 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. The motherboard M.2 slot #3 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated with a PCIe-based M.2 drive, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled. -----------

Greetings, I'm planning to buy some RGB RAM and G.Skill TridentZ RGB comes to mind, quality Samsung B-die + great looks. Before I buy it I would like to know if There are any issues with this RAM and Asus Aura software? Or any issues with RAM and lighting itself that would throw me off buying? Currently I'm using Maximus X Hero motherboard. Thanks!

Hi All, Looking to upgrade my RAM keeping gaming performance as priority. My PC Specs are as follows: CPU : AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950x with CM Wraithripper cooler Mobo: MSI X399 Gaming pro Carbon AC GPU : Nvidia Zotac RTX 2080 Ti Memory: 2x16GB DDR4 G.Skill 3200Mhz Ripjaw V-series CL16 Hynix PSU: Coolermaster V1000 Vanguard 1000W 80+Gold Modular I am currently running dual channel 2x 16GB @ 3133 Mhz CL16 timings, but the gaming performance isn't that great. 20-30 FPS Drops at times with Hitman 2 & Witcher 3 at Ultra and wanted to upgrade as ryzen performs better with quad channel. My Ripjaws isn't B-Die so not able to push over 3133. I have read Threadripper/ryzen prefers speed over cas and I am looking at 3600 MHz or more Samsung B-die chips. Worst case I can still configure at 3466 Mhz . I have gone through recommendations for threadripper all over the internet and came to a conclusion with the below options. Wanted to have a second opinion on what to buy (made a mistake going for ripjaws earlier). Budget is upto 600$ and want a quad channel 4x8GB ram combo. Option 1: G.SKILL TridentZ (4 x 8GB) 3600 Mhz CL16 Model F4-3600C16Q-32GTZKK (16-16-16-36) @ 399$ https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232584 Findings: - Samsung K4A8G085WB-BCPB B-die as per this review: https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/8268/skill-tridentz-rgb-ddr4-3600-32gb-memory-kit-review/index.html - As per a 3D mark benchmark, someone was successfully do 3600Mhz on a threadripper 1950x & ASRock X399 Taichi on this ram (not sure whether my MSI x399 carbon pro ac may get the same love). : https://www.3dmark.com/spy/2340426 - Not in my motherboard QVL but Samsung B-die and with above benchmark is it enough for me to go ahead? Not sure if it can reach 3600Mhz. Option 2: 2 kits of below: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (For AMD) 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200 Mhz CL14 Model F4-3200C14D-16GTZRX (14-14-14-34) @ 460$ (2x229$) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232650&ignorebbr=1 Findings: - Samsung B-Die, Has AMD compatibility and will work at 3200Mhz (Might overclock to 3333/3466). - Does 2 kits of 2x8 GB will be able to do Quad channel @ 3200Mhz or more on a ryzen? - Seems overpriced (as it is 3200Mhz only) Option 3: 2 kits of below: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3600 CL15 Model F4-3600C15D-16GTZ (15-15-15-35) @ 440$ (220$x2) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232306 Findings: - Samsung B-die but not in my motherboard QVL. Not sure if it can reach 3600Mhz and also if 2 x 2 x 8GB would be fine. Option 4: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 3200 CL16 Model F4-3200C16Q-32GTZRX @300$ https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232753 Findings: - Most affordable but not sure if it has Samsung B-Die and can overclock to 3466/3600 I am leaning towards option 1 or option 3 as its 3600Mhz ryzen seems to favor gaming performance but concerned if it would be compatible. Let me know if you guys have a better suggestion/alternative. Thanks for the help Regards.

Hi guys, So what are your thoughts on these 3 components? CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x Mobo: Gigabyte X470 AORUS GAMING 5 WIFI RAM: 16GB of G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200Mhz The GPU I'm planning to pair it with is either an RTX 2060 or an RTX 2070. Case I'm planning to get is the Cooler Master H500M. So is there sufficient internal headers for the case?(There's a type C front port) Will either RTX cards go well with the 2600x? And is the stock cooler enough if I want to oc the CPU? My goal is for 1080p gaming at max settings. And maybe a little 1440p gaming with high settings. (Depending on which GPU I get I'm content with just 1080p gaming.) Please note this will be my first PC(but don't know when I will buy the parts. I may try to wait for 3rd gen Ryzen cpus). Also I have little understanding to compatibility of the parts. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I wish to have my Trident Z G.Skill 2x 8gb Ram sticks to sync with my RGB lighting. I understand there has been problems with programs such as Aurasync "Corrupting" the ram and having to crazily troubleshoot to get it back to working condition. I see that in one of Linus' videos he was sent a computer that had its RGB pre set up to match those of the corsair fans out of box. Seeing as that is being done I chose to post here to see what kind of solution has been made to fix my worries that my ram too could get corrupted when obviously they're selling out of the box already set up RGB with compatibility. Linus says in the video that it is most likely controlled by aura sync but compatibility doesn't exist yet for it right? Links for reference to said Video. Link 1(Corsair Link w/fans) Link 2(Trident X G.Skill ram) Link 3(Working RGB Sync) I'm reaching out for a solution so I don't brick my ram or anything of the sort. Have to go through RMA, Troubleshoot, or get the corsair vengeance and waste more money and give my ram away. I am going to be getting 3 T-Force Delta RGB lit SSD's and will be wanting to use aurasync or similar program to connect all those products plus my motherboard together. I currently have corsair link hooked up to 7 fans and works dandy, have a corsair water cooling with RGB logo on it, and 3 RGB Strip from corsair. all works fine. Sidenote: I know that getting corsair vengeance will match my build better but for the moment I'm looking for a solution for both myself and others affected by the same issue. Thank you in advance, Tristan AKA Innocence_Ends - Lover of PC building and helping others.

Hi there! I just bought some new hardware and i'm getting stuck on something. The hardware that i bought is: Ryzen 7 2700x MSI x470 gaming pro G.skill DDR4 Aegis 2x8GB 3000M (F4-3000C16D-16GISb) installed at A2 and B2 Samsung EVO 970 When i start up windows it says the system has 16 gig of memory but it can only use 8 of it. When i go to my BIOS i see 8192 memory size and 2133 DDR speed. I've attached a screenshot of this. What do i need to do to fix this? I've already tried to set the memory to 16 gig in msconfig but that resulted in a blue screen. Did any of you experienced this as well? Thanks in advance!

I have a friend who had just purchased new RAM that was on sale. He installed it and now his computer won't show a picture. Below is what he had posted on Reddit (r/pcmasterrace) hoping to get a reply. I wanted to post here to see if anyone would be able to help with some suggestions. My friends initial post: "Just got new RAM (2x8GB G.Skill ddr4 2133) to replace my 2x4GB Ballistix ddr4. Switched the RAM out and plugged everything back in. Switched the computer back on. It kicked on but the monitor wouldn't recognize it. Switched back to my old RAM to see if maybe the new RAM was the issue and now that doesn't work either. I have made sure everything is still connected, RAM has been reseated, computer has been cleaned out with a can of compressed air, CMOS jumper used to reset BIOS and motherboard battery removed and put back to reset bios, single RAM stick used in each of the four slots still nothing. I am running out of ideas and am just hoping my mobo isn't fried (as far as I know there isn't a speaker or light on it so I really don't have a way to tell if it is or not). If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Mobo: Asrock Z170 Pro4p" Reddit link:

So i was looking to double my RAM the other day, so i enter my build int PC Part Picker to try and find the best price. After entering my specs, PCP tells me that my RAM is 1.6V and my mobo is only rated for 1.5V. I have been running this set up for 3 years. Is this an issue that should worry me? I really want to double up my memory but i dont want to play with fire (literally of figuratively). My specs are posted if needed.

Will this work on this? Will it run at advertised speeds? thanks for the help

Hi there, i just get my first pc in a while, got MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC + ryzen 2200g (just for ~3months so went budget CPU now) + G.SKILL TRIDENT Z 3200 and PSU be quiet pure power 10, I'll give list below. So today everything arrived and I build it up and tried to start it but didn't work so I checked everything, then I dismantled it and build again with no results, all I see on mobo is red dot in upper left corner she blinks 3 times after I turn on power supply and that's it, any ideas what I did wrong or what's fckd up?
