So first ff lets start with my current build.. I know it's older but I am trying to save as much money as I can here and thus my budget build. So my Cpu While gaming on stuff like guild wars 2, Skyrim (heavily modded) Secondlife and a few others sits at 90-98% usage dependens on how much is going on, While my gpu is sitting around 50% max. So I am trying to find out if I upgrade to a fx 6300 or a fx 8320e if I would still be bottle necking. Any input is welcomed, just no bashing amd/intel. We use what we can aford.

Hello! So. My current rig. CPU: FX 8350 Mobo: Asus m5a97 le r2.0 with the latest bios 2701. RAM: 4x4 Crucial ballistix sport. 1600mhz I have Corsair H55i watercooler. (AIO) My problem is the following. After i installed my new video card, i wanted to check my system stability and i noticed that my CPU was clocking WAY higher than it should. Here is an example. on this pic, im running Aida64 on the background. In BIOS, i have set my multiplier to 21 and cpu speed at 200 (mobo changed it to 201). This makes it 4.2ghz clock speed. But on HWmonitor, Aida64 statistics and CPU-Z, it shows that my CPU clocks over 4.2ghz, sometimes even hitting 5.1 and then immediately clocking to 3.3ghz. Yet on CoreTemp it shows it at 4.2ghz... My motherboards VRM can't handle the 5ghz overclock for sure, it would downlock it to 1404mhz but aida showed 100% CPU usaged., same with CoreTemp for ages, which means its not throttling if i am correct. Any suggestions?

I started buying new parts for a new build and I thought about using the new gpu temporarily on my old rig until I get the rest of the parts. It is a rx 5600 xt. But when I installed it with a new power supply, it won't boot past bios, it doesn't reboot, it just stays with a black screen until I turn it off.... Tried updating bios, removing and replacing the motherboard battery, and nothing. As soon as I put my old gpu back it works normally again! Components: mother: Asus M5A88 V-EVO Cpu: FX-8120 Black Edition + stock cooler. Ram 2x4 ddr3 + 1x8 ddr3 HDD: WD blue 1tb 7200rpm Old gpu: Radeon hd 6570 New gpu: XFX rx 5600 xt Power supply: Aerocool Cyclon 700w 80+ bronze

When I moved to Chile two years ago I was unable to bring my other rigs from the US and as such I had to build a new daily driver from components sourced locally. I decided to go with FX because my place doesn't have heating and it gets cold in the winter, and because I like overclocking. Over the last two years I've changed out components whenever I found anything better, like going from a 600W Corsair non 80+ unit to a 1000W EVGA Supernova P2 and from a GTX 760 to an RX 480. My current specs: AMD FX 9590 (sometimes) Asus Crosshair V Forumla-Z 990FX AM3+ G Skill 16GB DDR3 2400MHz CL10 (F3-2400C10D-16GTX) MSI RX 480 4GB Samsung 850 Evo EVGA Supernova P2 1000W Cooler Master 240mm AiO NZXT H500 White I use this machine to do some overclocking in my free time, but nothing too crazy due to the 240mm AiO. I have a few FX chips that I've recovered from the electronics recycler which I try to take as high as I can with the AiO. In my collection I have an FX-4100, 4130, 4350, 6120, 6350, 8320, 8350, 9590 plus a Phenom 1090T. I've done some experimenting and even got the memory up to 2600MHz CL10 with an FX-6350 at 5.3GHz, which is impressive for an FX chip imo. Here we see an FX-6350 at 5.3GHz with 2600MHz DDR3 in Cinebench R15 scoring 642, which took 6th place worldwide on HWBOT These days It's easy to spend a lot of time overclocking given that there isn't much else to do. I'll be building up my collection of AM3 and AM3+ chips, stay tuned. -Ryan Leech

I'm an university teacher. (in latin america) I use OBS to stream and record my classes. I have an FX-8320E and a Nitro R9 380 4GB, 400Mbps down and 10Mbps Up. I use virtualcam to get the video output to zoom. 1080p 30fps canvas for webcam+ppt+realtime subs+zoom chat. I think virtualcam uses the stream configuration (x264, main, veryfast, 4000 bitrate) Also i record the classes with x264 2500 bitrate, and get 1.5GB per class, but i get some little artifacts if i'm also doing some stuff in the pc and i'm not very conformed with the quality for 1080 30fps. I want to try H264/AVC (AMD encoder) to get the gpu make some work. The video then is uploaded to youtube and deleted the file (no edit), so i don't care so much about file size. I'm not sure what kind of options for the AMD encoder should i use. I want around 5000 bitrate for the recording, but i'm not sure if use QP, CBR, VBR or VBRLAT. Have anyone experience using AMD encoder to record video? Thanks in advance.

I built a computer a few years ago and I've been upgrading bits and pieces here and there, but I think it's time for a new motherboard and or CPU. I currently have an fx 6350 overclock to 4.7 gigahertz that is stable. However the vrm seems to overheat and cause lag spikes during gaming loads. I was wondering if I should try to cool the vrm or finally upgrade. I would like to keep my DDR3 RAM since ddr4 isn't that much of an upgrade and is much more expensive. I would also like suggestions on a new case since my current one has no rad supports. Hello all, So I really don't like Intel and nVidias business practices very much and would like to use AMD GPU and CPU for my next build. Trying to game at least 1440p 144hz max settings. Is this advisable with dual Vega 64s and a 2700X or would that be a poor investment in the face of the new GPUs and CPUs coming out from their competitors? Budget is around 3k, needs to include peripherals and budget laptop just for light online schoolwork. Rig will be used for gaming as well as academic projects and research (Physics major). All input is appreciated.

Simple question: does anyone know of a relaible source for new am3+ Mobo? Even a used one from someone on this community? My 4 year old ASUS seams to have given up on me, but I'm in college (and not yet in bebt, I might add) and can't afford the upgrade from my FX system. Amazon listings are sketchy AF with contradictory information on product listings that I don't want to risk. Best Buy and Microcenter no long carry those sockets (understandably) Help?

I was thinking of (once I got a couple paychecks) upgrading from an FX-8320 to a Ryzen 3 1300x or a Ryzen 5 1600 (Obviously motherboard and ram changes would also be required). Would that cool down my room a reasonable bit due to the lower TDP and also would it help me alleviate the bottleneck I have on my GTX 1070 SC? Also which Ryzen should I grab? I render videos and intend to stream games on Twitch again soon. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! P.S. Do not ask me why I have an FX and a GTX 1070 in one PC, my parents made that decision.

Hi I know it's 2018 but I am looking for a CPU that is good for gaming but also has a ddr3 motherboard as ddr4 ram is expensive and I already have 16gb ddr3 from old pc. I mostly play Fortnite. Thank for helping. Also im looking for something under £100 I have a gtx750ti 4gb. And a X4 845 and 16gb ddr3 I was considering the fx8350 but it has mixed reviews

Hi everyone. I'm using my little brother's computer to play Watch Dogs 2. He used t have an older card, but has since upgraded to a 6gb GTX 1060. However in Watch Dogs 2 no matter what I do, I can't get the game to run at a steady 50 fps much less 60 at 1080p. This doesn't seem right to me, since I always figured the 1060 should pretty much slay most games at 1080, or at least run them at reasonable fps on high. He's also told me that he at times has issues with other games running like this too, like Deus Ex Mankind Divded and even some less demanding games. He's running an AMD FX 6300 6 core. Which is the only thing I could think would maybe be the issue? It's an older and cheaper CPU. His motherboard is a ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 so I don't think he could run a new Ryzen CPU though. Any suggestions on what could be causing this performance loss?

I'm considering upgrading my CPU ( and motherboard ) from an AMD Athlon X4 860K and Gigabyte A68H mobo to something like an AMD FX 6300 or FX 6350 ( although an intel pentium G4560 isn't completely out of the question, would 2 cores affect FPS? ). The reason I want to upgrade is because I've noticed in CPU intensive games the framerates seem to drop lower than in GPU intensive games. E.g. Flight simulator X: Avg FPS I get is usually low/ mid 30s, Overwatch on the other hand will give me 60-70 ( paired with an MSi R7 360, see full build below ). Is it worth upgrading/ are there any other budget CPUs around the £80-90 mark that would work just as well if not better than an FX CPU? PS: All the games that have better FPS are on the SSD, but that shouldnt affect FPS? Rig: CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K MOBO: GIGABYTE A68H FM2+ GPU: MSi Radeon R7 360 Storage: 1x ADATA 240GB SSD, 1x SEAGATE BARRACUDA 1TB HDD PSU: Coolermaster 500W 80+ Power Supply Cooling: Coolermaster Nepton 120XL Closed loop liquid cooler. Initiated in Push/pull config. Case CiT goblin mesh

Hi guys, Just a quick question I've just thought of and what better place to ask? Had my rig for about 3 years now, it's a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and I have a 980ti and a wireless adaptor in one of the 2x slots. I know my motherboard is capable of running 2 2.0@16x cards, but will my 980ti's PCIe lane run at 16x due to my wireless card being installed? I think it should but thought I'd ask TIA!

Hey guys I am debating about which machine of mine would be best to convert into an emulator station. I am considering using Recalbox x86_64 to run as an operating system, but will also be dual booting. The options I have are: AMD A10-7700K Asus A78M-A mATX Motherboard 4x4GB DDR3 1866 G.Skill Sniper XFX R7 370 4GB OR AMD FX-8120 Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 mATX Motherboard 4x4GB DDR3 1866 G.Skill Sniper EVGA GTX 760 Super Clocked I have both of these machines fully built. I am just struggling with deciding which one would be be the best to go with in building an emulator machine.

So, one of my friends had recently some issues with his computer and while helping him I did some Benchmarks. While doing the benchmarks I noticed a very wierd behaviour. When his AMD FX-8350 hits 65 °C the core frequency drops to under 1,7 GHz until it cooled down to ca 55 °C at wich point it goes back to about 3.6 GHz until it hits 65° again and his GPUs (A GTX 660 from an unknown brand) core frequency drops as low as 100 MHz, even under full systhetic load (Aida64). I've already updated all of his drivers and did a Bios flash. Thanks in advance, Pringels09

Hello guys since last night im getting this trouble i cant save my information on the bios because idk it just doesnt save i even tried resetting the cmos, take out the cmos battery, resetting bios to default but nothing happens and because of that i think that there's a feature activated on my bios that lock my cpu to be at 1,68ghz which stock base is 3,5ghz. My motherboard is a MSI 970 Gaming. Thanks in advance

Yesterday i had a trouble that there was low voltage on the outlet so my pc turned off after that i had to restart the cmos memory in order to make it boot again but since that my bios is not saving the configuration and because of that also my FX 8320 runs at 1.68 ghz because of Cool n quiet and i cant disable it. How can i save the configuration? I already tried changing the cmos battery. My motherboard is a MSI 970 Gaming

Hey! Im stuck on trying to get my random number to display text on label, but it display that random number it generates, ive tried many times to solve it out, done some research haven't found answer to this yet, so maybe you guys know what im doing wrong on this. Code below public void generateRandom(ActionEvent event) { Random rand = new Random(); int myrand = rand.nextInt(50) + 1; switch (myrand) { case 1: System.out.println("test1"); break; case 2: System.out.println("test2"); break; case 3: System.out.println("test3"); break; case 4: System.out.println("test4"); break; case 5: System.out.println("test5"); break; case 6: System.out.println("test6"); break; default: System.out.println("test7"); break; } myMessage.setText(Integer.toString(myrand)); System.out.println(Integer.toString(myrand)); } }

Me and two others I know have been getting random black screens (usually occurring after an action such as a click of the mouse). This has been occurring for few months now and can't seem to find a solution anywhere. The only similarities we have with our computers is the CPU. Two of us have FX 6300's and the other has an Athlon 950X. The black screens seem to be happening far more frequently with the FX 6300 PCs though. I was wondering if it was buggy Windows 10 updates due to the recent Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. Obviously, the architecture on these two CPUs are old so could that be the issue?
