The current processor I have is a AMD FX-6300 6 Cores 3.5 GHzMy choice would be an AMD FX-8350 or above. Hey guys I'm new to overclocking so I'm trying to be careful with this. Before I go any further, here are the specs I'm working with: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD FX-8320E Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO EVGA GTX 670 Signature 2 16GB Kingston HyperX 1866 DDR3 275GB Crucial SSD Corsair CX600 I wanted to get a bit more out of my processor so I tried cranking the clock speed. At stock she runs a base of 3.2GHz and a max turbo of 4GHz. I clocked it at 4GHz on all cores, disabled cool'n'quiet as well as turbo boost, and she runs through Cinebench as well as a CPU-Z stress test without issues. What puzzles me, is that as little as two seconds after starting a Prime95 torture test, the system forcibly reboots. I've been having other strange issues as well. I set the voltage to about 1.35V to go at 4.1GHz, and CInebench and CPU-Z would test fine, about an hour later of just watching videos, she just forcibly restarted. Had the exact same issue earlier at 4.2GHz. Another weird thing I noticed, before the former two events, is that when trying to run Cinebench at 4.3GHz, the temps would be fine, but I noticed the clock speed would occasionally plummet to about 1.5GHz and slowly climb back up, giving the benchmark a really low score. What's causing all of this?

My current PC has a fx 8350, i'm looking to sell these parts and buy a six core ryzen cpu later on this year when they launch. I was wondering how much these parts are worth. FX 8350 (still running well hasn't been overclocked at all, owned since october 2015) Gigabyte 970 Gaming Motherboard(brought this recently so it's only it's only 4 months old, still working fine) Coolermaster 212 Evo (brought this at the same time as my CPU, has always kept my CPU at 25-30c idle) Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 2x4GB (brought at the same time as my CPU, still working fine haven't messed about with it) EDIT: In pounds preferably thanks

so i used to have an fx 8350 and i accidentally killed it with overvoltage, so then i moved to an i3 6100 because its intel and i could upgrade further in the future, but i i signed up for the amazon rewards doodad and i now have $50 off whatever i need on amazon, an fx-4100 is exactly $50. so should i get this fx 4100? will is give better gaming performance over the i3? i have a gtx 1060 6GB and at the moment the i3 literally bottlenecks the heck out of it, i know the 4100 will still be a bottleneck but will it be as much of a bottleneck? and i do some content creation too so will the 4 cores of the fx beat the 2 cores and 4 threads of the i3?

Problem: So i'm rocking an fx 8320e along with 8 gb ddr3 2133 mhz and I think i need an upgrade while playing gta 5 my cpu % goes wild and i'm having massive dips? Solution? 300-400 $ to spend on new mobo/cpu/ram upgrade Thanks in advance

So...total hypothetical *wink* assuming one has an FX-9590 and a Noctua NH-D15S with 3 fans, would one be safe in attempting to cool such a cpu with such a cooler? so i've had my FX 8350 for a while now and I haven't overclocked it yet, i've been a bit hesitant too since i could never find a decent guide to overclocking for the 8350 and i was hoping that if anyone's had any experience overclocking this CPU or just overclocking a CPU in general because i have no idea what a safe overclock is on amds platform. Hi. I was wondering if my overclock on my fx 8320 is safe on my motherboard. It has a 4+1 power phase and i heard its not the best for overclocking because the VRM's could overheat. To create the worst situation I used aida64 and stressed my cpu, fpu, cache, ram, and my gpu. I was getting 3 temps on my motherboard and 2 were at 50c and one was at 60c I was wondering if those were safe temps for my motherboard. Ny cpu was at 55c and my gpu was at 60c during the test also. I am running my cpu at 4.5ghz which is .5ghz higher from my 4ghz boost on my fx 8320. I am also using 1.425 volts which might be too high but im not sure. Thanks for any help or suggestions. -
I have a fx 8320 and an asus m5a99x evo 2.0 motherboard and i was wondering if it is a good overclocking board to hit 4.5ghz on my cpu. I also have a be quiet dark rock 3 for cooling. Right now i hit around 50c when gaming and 65c when using something like prime95 or aida64.

Hello ! My old mobo died and i bought the Gigabyte 970 Gaming for my Phenom II X4 965 BE (my second rig, usually used by my dad or sister). It is also used for mild 720p gaming. I now feel like i bought a very expensive mobo for the cpu and as Zen won't support AM3+, I feel like trying one of the FX 8 series cpus. I might do some mild overclocking as well. CM Hyper 412 cooler. will the 8370e be the best choice for OC-in on this board ? or should I get the 8350, 8370 or 8320e ? Just waiting for the price to drop after ryzen launch. Please suggest me a the cpu for this mobo and explain the overclocking capabilities. I have an Intel i7 4770 and i'm happy with that, just wanted to upgrade the second rig as much as I can. TIA

Hi! I've been watching the pentium G4560 and watching some reviews saying that it's better than the FX 6300. I was planning on waiting on AMD zen but I just saw this cpu for 65$ instead of 80$ it usually goes for. I will not stick with this CPU, I will upgrade it at the end of this year and planned to put this CPU with MSI B250 gaming pro AC mobo and 8gb of ram into a HTPC build. I just wanted to ask for some advice if this would be a good idea or if the g4560 maybe is a bad choice and just wait and build the HTPC later. I almost excclusively play WOW so I was wondering if someone maybe new if this CPU is better for WOW or not. My setup now is FX6300 in a MSI gaming 970 mobo and 8gb DDR3. total build cost would be about 240$. I don't live in the US so the prices may not be the same here as in the US.

Okay. I currently have an FX 6300, on an Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 board. I have a Corsair H50 and my PSU is a pretty terrible 500w 80+ unit from EVGA. On my system i play alot of high end games (GTA, Witcher, Tomb Raider, the likes) and i also edit music. The music editing is very important, my project files have alot of simultaneous tracks with multiple effects on each. Its very intensive and i do alot of it This processor is starting to show its age, and im looking for my best options when it comes to upgrading. I WANT to upgrade to Ryzen at some point, and i understand that Intel Kaby Lake would be a decent route to go financially, i have considered it. BUT. For the sake of this thread, im looking solely for the best options on AM3+ socket, without buying a new motherboard. I had my eyes on the 8350 for a while, but i also know AMD has the 9590. I've heard alot of bad things about it, and i notice its TDP is pretty high. I dont necessarily want to know if the 8350 is more worth it than the 9590, because currently the prices are about the same. (8350 for $121, 9590 for $130) On the product page for my board, on Asus site, it shows official support for 9xxx What should i do. I am very willing to upgrade my PSU and cooling with this upgrade as both need upgrading anyway. I was looking at the H75 as i want to stay liquid, and the EVGA Supernova 750w Gold. These should be able to handle the 9590, no? I've seen that the 9xxx series is the 8xxx series with higher clocks. So what if i just got a 9xxx series and left it stock? wouldn't that be better for lifespan/stability?

Hey all, So basically, I'm looking to do some upgrades on my budget AMD system that I'm having some fun with and basically I want to upgrade the CPU cooler to something that performs a bit better and is A LOT quieter (as in, doesn't run at 2000RPM with no load like the stock cooler). But I'm kind of torn between a few options, I've been looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212EVO, the Noctua NH-U9B SE2 and some AIO stuff like the Cooler Master Seidon 240V, they're all within budget (and I'm open to suggestions, especially noctua stuff as I've never tried them) and I am planning on doing some overclocking on this system (my first OC too!) because of the FX processor. In case this matters for clearance and stuff I have the system in a Phanteks Eclipse P400S case that has front mounts for radiators, I have an ASUS 970 Pro Gaming Aura (ATX) motherboard and the RAM I use is standard sized AData DDR3 1600MHz. It really helps if you give prices in Euros or give links to stores in Europe, the UK or Ireland (Even stuff like Komplett.ie or Amazon.co.uk) Thanks in advance! Dylan.

Which CPU is better is it an i3 2120 or a FX 8300 This is for gaming and includes normal web surfing but I am no doing any editing or rendering so I was thinking the lower core count of i3 would be better for gaming -
Hey Guys, I am planning new upgrades to my pc , my specs are as follows CPU :AMD FX 8350 at stock frequency(4.0 ghz) GPU : AMD RX 570x Sapphire nitro 4gb oc Motherboard : asus m5a 97 le r2.0 ram : 1866mhz kingston hyper x fury 4gb * 2 PSU : 850w antec hcg I care about whichever price is lower should i get a ryzen build with a 1500x with 8 gb ram with the same gpu or another RX 570 from the same manufacturer ijust want to play GTA 5 at 1080p with every setting completely maxed out at constant 60+fps.

Hello everyone! So I got an H55 cooler from corsair. I OC'ed to 4.1GHz on my FX-6300. However that's not the problem. The problem is that after the OC, it now won't run anywhere under 4.06GHz. Why is that? I would think that when idle, it should go below that, to save power and keep cool, right?

So I have this FX-8350. Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-D3 RAM: A-data 4x4GB 1333MHz Cooler: Kraken x52 PSU: corsair HX850w (850w) Case:NZXT H440 (lots of fans) Is this a suitable set up for OCing or would my mobo or ram make this not a very good idea? Jays2Cents has a video but I seem to have a very different stock voltage than him. (mine @1.476v and his @ 1.38v). I reset to recommended defaults but im still almost .1v higher to start than his. Without touching voltages i set mine to 4.4GHz from 4.0 and it seems stable in prime95 (15min run) but the temps are jumping from 30C to 63C without me changing anything. What is a good temp to be at?

Hello there guys!! as the title says I've been thinking about changing my build, but, is it worthy???. My pc's specs are these: -msi 970 gaming m/b -fx 6300 cpu (with a 212 evo heatsink) -8gb g skill cl9 1600mhz ( up to 2133 oc) -r9 380 msi 4gbvram I was planning on getting this cpu AMD Athlon X4 880K with this m/b ASUS A68HM-K and keeping the heatsink ofc, but is it really worth it??? would I increase my fps in game if I use my ram at full potential since this fm2+ m/b allows me to boost my ram speed up to 2133mhz or would I drop fps cause of the cpu change. help please!!

Hey. I currently have a fx 8320@4.4ghz 16gb ram and an asus m5a99x evo 3. I was thinking on buying intel. I found a 6500 +*8gb + msi gaming z170 for around 600 USD. Bare in mind I live in Argentina so the price can be a bit inflated for importing tax and sellers cut. Is a good idea to buy 6th gen today? On games I have no problem now with the amd. Only on minecraft MODDED I want to be able to play modded minecraft on 60+fps, would be enough? I know that mother is too much for the cpu I think on upgrading eventually maybe k or i7 and definitely more ram. Thanks

So i've been waiting for ryzen 5 for a while now and i'm planning on upgrading to it however, i haven't really seen it put up against the FX lineup. My 8350 is only 2 years old at this point and it's still going strong so i was wondering is it worth getting ryzen 5 now or waiting a little while and sticking with the 8350? I mostly use my PC for gaming and i have picked up some CPU heavy games recently which the 8350 is struggling with a little but is easily rectified by changing the settings down lower.
