  1. Is this build good? This is my first build and i'm going big or going home. I intend to run a 24/7 Ark Server and play games on it. I play Call of Duty, Overwatch, Destiny 2, PUBG, Fortnite, and Starcraft 2. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PqGQcY
  2. THis is my first post, so please notify me if i am doing anything off-topic, against the rules or other stuff. so. my little brother has been looking to get into pc gaming. he wants to play mostly e-sports titles like overwatch, fortnite, csgo. my parents tasked me (older brother) to help with the configuration of such a pc. i have been watching linus tech tips build guides and built a nas and a render server with parts from ebay. however, we went to the pc store (Webhallen, sweden) and i choose parts. the goal was a ryzen 5 and a gtx 1050. the budget was 8000 SEK (900 dollars) including peripherals. to fit this budget i cheaped out on the motherboard, which was approximately 56 dollars. i also cheaped out on the psu, which was 40 dollars. the psu is a 600w kolink 80plus power supply. all the compnents that i (think) wont drastically affect gaming performance where the cheapest compatible from a reputable reseller (webhallen). now to my question. is this a good practice for future value optimised builds, or is it worth spending some extra money on quality motherboards and higher rated psus? will this negatively affect the lifespan of the pc? psu: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-core-series-600w-80-plus-certified-power-supply-ca-02p-kk.html psu from place that it is bought: https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/281746-Kolink-Core-PSU-600W-80-Plus
  3. Hello! So I'm about to build my first ever PC (only had a prebuilt since 2012) and I need some tips So my build looks as follows (excluding RAM): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pH6FKB The components are identical to the ones im looking at since I'm in sweden the prices are a bit different compared to what pcpartpicker has to offer. My questions are as follow: 1. What RAM is good for this ryzen build 2. Is that b450 motherboard good enough for OC (both processor and RAM wise) or is it worth with x470 chipset? 3. If i would like to in the future, would it be possible/easy to mount a 240/280mm AIO in that case with those parts? 4. Since it's my first time, I dont know what color schemes goes well together. Would this build look good aswell? how powerful would the rgb be from wraith prism and rog strix in the dark? Lots of questions but wanna make sure I make as few mistakes as possible when building my first PC Thanks in advance
  4. sorry in advance i suffer from dyslexia keep in mind 17 year old no job do odd jobs for my dad's company and some freelance work so do not have stable income have some exprice so not a complete idiot on these things backstory/why/purpose i have been studying game design and computer sians for a few years now. i have bilet computers in class and work in are pc repair shop at mycolog. dew to this i thought i whud be prepared to take on my first system bile but jesus christ is this harder than i thought. i gave myself an £800 give or take and have spent the last week or to on pc part picker and over sites comparing and trying to work out what's best for me as i need the right to priority play games but also be able to hdel some lite to moderat game production (this includes most stages of production minus audio production i have a micen capable of that at my band's studio.) after all this time i have come up with this list what i need from you lovely people. first of all give me your opinion on what i have so far and what i can improve/ downgrade if it is overkill. i have only left myself for enuf money for a budget case i what to know what exactly should i really be looking out for in a case and what do you recomend. ascetics wise i don't what enny glass/acrylic side panels or windows or rgb if it can be helped. last i will obviously need to cool this build so what are some good airflow fans but can also double as reasonable static airflow fans if needed but this is secondary to its cfm. tom kenny body that helps or gives feedback thank you you deserve a cookie and i hope you all have a great day morning evening or night
  5. Hello, Just opened my account on the forums. Happy to be here! I'm out of college and am saving up to build a strong PC that I can use for gaming, multitasking (I have a bad habit of leaving things open across multiple virtual desktops), doing normal work, occasional artwork as a hobby, video/music editing, and data storage. Basically, I wouldn't consider myself a daily movie and video editor, but I want to know that whatever I throw at it, the PC can handle it. Also, team red ftw. Ideal budget would be in the 1200-1500 range tops. What I've picked so far... AMD Ryzen 7 1800x CPU Cryorig H7 (non-RGB) Cooling MSI ProSeries B350M Mortar mATX Mobo ('cuz it has USB Type-C) MSI Gaming Radeon RX 580 Armor Mk2 8Gb OC EVGA 600 BQ PSU Patriot Viper DDR4 3200MHz RAM Dual-Band WiFi/Bluetooth PCI-e Adapter (simply for the sake of convenience) 4Tb Seagate Barracuda 3.5" Hard Disk for long-term data storage My Crucial MX300 750gb SSD for software and games - already have this Windows 10 (maybe pro, idk if I need the drive encryption yet) What I'm stuck on... Boot disk I'd like to get an NVMe SSD that'll provide a pretty nice speed boost for quite some time in terms of OS, and I currently have a WD Black in my laptop and I love it. I'm stuck between the equivalently-priced WD Black 250gb and Corsair MP500 120gb drives, just because I don't know how much the speed difference (2gbps vs 3gbps, respectively) will make. Case I want a Micro-ATX case that will be compact while still also offering upgradeability, like: Tecware Quad: https://www.tecware.co/quad Kolink Sanctuary: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-sanctuary-micro-atx-cube-case-black-ca-02k-kk.html Am I making a mistake looking at those? Should I consider something like a mini tower instead? My primary goal case-wise is small form factor, high density, while still offering good thermals and performance. Cooling It seems that liquid cooling is a popular choice for Ryzen users. I am open to any solution, but I chose air cooling for its lower price and lower failure risk mechanically. Plus, I've heard that AIOs tend to need replacement once in a few years. I'd like to avoid that problem, if possible. GPU I am definitely a Radeon guy, and like everyone else, I'm trying to find something that's feasible for long-term use at a low price. Does this mean changing to the 4gb card instead of 8gb? What about a different gpu model? Also, crossfire? Future-proofing Yeah, maybe there's no such thing. But, I'd like to make a machine with a powerful, competent CPU. I'm willing to accept that I may need to swap out the GPU once in a few years, but I'd like to invest in worthwhile, long-life components so I can hang onto that machine for at least 5 to 10 years. So, that's my plan. Any thoughts? PC Part Picker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xLZnGG
  6. Welcome to part 2 of my build log! This part 2 will cover my addition of a 4th case fan through the use of PWM fan splitters. If you remember from my first build log, you'll remember I didn't have enough fans or fan headers to accomodate all my fans, but I just bought some fan splitters to enable me to use all four of my fan slots! Today I'll be putting in my 4th case fan, an NZXT FN V2, the stock case fan that came with my NZXT S340. This was the layout I eventually went with; Front fans would share one fan header (highlighted in red) and my rear & top fan would share a fan header (highlighted in blue). I went with this layout since the front fans are intakes and the rear & top fans are exhausts, so it makes sense for one of each to be slaving RPM from another for optimal air pressure. The top fan blends in well with the other fans despite being RGB-less, fortunately the rear fan's LEDs reflect off the top nicely so it can at least pretend to be lit up white! I will eventually replace this fan with another Corsair SP120 to match the rest of the fans. As mentioned before in my build log, I was using my AIO pump header as a 3rd fan header, which annoyed me an awful lot, and here we are now with CHA1 and CHA2 occupied by a fan splitter. Temperature-wise, the idle temp was around 29°C with the new fan in, previously my idle temp would be anywhere between 32-37°C which is a nice drop. Be sure to see my first build log on this PC here!
  7. This is my first build i plan on doing in the coming month. Constructive criticism please Budget $2300AUD Location Brisbane Australia Pure gaming and will most definitely upgrade in the future. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/mJHjWD
  8. I want to build my own gaming pc and wanted to ask if this is a good Setup for 1080p high Settings. Pcpartpicker: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/jjnYXP I hope you guys can help me.
  9. Hi all, im looking to build my first ever gaming PC later this year, and would like some help picking parts. I already know a fair amount about PC's as I've been in this community for 3-4 years now. I have a few basic specs in mind, but am open for suggestions and recommendations. 1. Budget My budget is quite large, considering I need to buy every component (except mouse, keyboard). I will spend up to around 2500-3000 AUD (1800-2200 USD). Im from Australia and would like to source parts locally to avoid huge shipping costs. I also need to include a monitor in the budget, as I dont currently have one. 2. Aim This PC is for gaming and 3D modelling and rendering. I need to have a NVidia card as blender (the 3d software I use) only supports CUDA acceleration. I also would like to have a CPU with a high core count, for simulations and multitasking. I have a few basic specs, but would like some help fleshing them out a bit. Also, I WOULD like to do a moderate overclock on the CPU and GPU. 3. Basic Specs 1. GTX 1080 (need brand recommendations) 2. Ryzen 7 xxxx CPU (would like recommendations for the CPU) 3. 16Gb of RAM (would like to go higher, but ram prices are so high) 4. 1440p monitor minimum (exact model recommendation) 5. SSD + HDD storage (256GB + 2TB should be fine, brand recommendations please) Other than that, I really dont know exactly what I should go with. I would love some recommendations for mobo, monitor, case, mobo, fans and any things else that I would have inevitably missed. (NOTE: Monitor can not be more than 360mm vertically (without stand) and needs to be VESA compatible for wall mounting) I dont need exact specs but I would love for some tips and brand recommendations, and anything i should look out for. Thanks
  10. Hi. I'm pretty new to building PC's so I'm researching as much as there is to know. I'm making a long term plan of components to save up to create a powerful and, hopefully, future-proof desktop for gaming and productivity (inc. graphic design, video editing, etc.) So far, here are the components I'm looking to get. Gigabyte X399 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X CPU Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB 3733MHz RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GPU Samsung 970 Pro NVMe M.2 1TB SSD's (at least two) Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste for CPU and GPU Corsair AX1500i PSU And a custom liquid cooling loop from EKWB Which all adds up to roughly $8000. I don't plan to overclock my system because A) I want to preserve it for as long as possible (hence the cooling applications) and B) Many of the games I play are just the classics that don't require such high specs which are mainly for productive programs including graphic design, 3D modelling, video editing, etc. I'm also looking to get several SSD's to form a RAID 0, which I hear gives the best performance boost. Last of all, in order to meet the requirements of a particular Linux distro I've set my eyes on, I recently discovered that the hardware I use needs to have support for Second Level Address Translation, which has thrown a spanner into my plan. So A) I'm asking if anyone has any advice I should consider when building my first PC and if there's any modifications to my plan I should also consider and B) I'm asking if anyone knows if any of my desired components supports SLAT. Thank you.
  11. Welcome to my custom PC build log! This is my first ever custom PC, built between the 4th & 5th of June, 2018. Specs as of 05/06/18 Intel Core i5-8600K Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Asus Prime Z370-P Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400 Asus Dual GeForce GTX 1060 OC 3GB Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD NZXT S340 3x Corsair SP120 RGB Corsair CX450M My case of choice is the NZXT S340 in white, it's a beautiful case that I had never seen in person before this, it's even better in person than in the pictures! I chose the S340 because of its simplistic styling and minimal design. I also have had previous experience building inside this case with PC Building Simulator on Steam, it's an irresistable case. My first step is to remove front and side panels, the thumbscrews were hard on so I had to twist them free using a screwdriver, once they were loose enough, I was able to use my hands, because they don't call them thumbscrews for nothing. It's also very nice and convenient that they're captive and hold onto the panel. I then took off the stock NZXT case fans to make way for my three Corsair SP120 case fans later in the build. I safely placed my NZXT case fans back inside the box, making sure to disconnect them from the back cables safely before stowing them away. Next up is the motherboard, which is the Asus Prime Z370-P. I chose this board for the overclocking abilities and also for its styling, its black and grey color scheme fits nicely with my S340 and my graphics card. I had never seen a full ATX motherboard before this, so this appeared much bigger than expected (that's what she said) to me. My CPU of choice is the Intel Core i5-8600K, I chose this CPU after many LTT forum users suggested I get an unlocked CPU, as originally I was going for a locked 8600. Sure enough, I shelled out for an unlocked 8600 and it fit nicely into the motherboard socket, making sure the arrows lined up. Thanks YouTube for all the CPU installation tutorials. My memory modules are next, which are a 2x4GB kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400 memory. They beautifully blended in with the motherboard and contrasted the S340's whites. I made sure to slot my modules in DIMMs B2 and A2, per motherboard manual's instructions. I also later found out the B2 DIMM was not seated correctly, as you can probably tell by the photo. The fixed clip on one side of the Asus motherboard DIMM tripped me up minorly here. Next is my CPU cooler, the Cooler Master Hyper 212. My original cooler was the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi but funds and shipping times held me back this time around, so this component is arguably the least powerful in the entire system. I had major hiccups during the installation of this cooler, especially the backpate and washers. I even video-called my friend whom had experience with Hyper 212s to help me out, and sure enough, we got my Hyper 212 securely fitted. This ate up at least half an hour of the entire build process. I also managed to fit my Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD into the far-left drive bay of my S340 case. In addition to it all, I also fit my new Asus GeForce GTX 1060 OC 3GB into my PC, the graphics card was much bigger than I anticipated, and I finally got to see real-life GPU sag in person. I already knew from PC Building Simulator that I had to remove the second and third PCI-e brackets from the S340 in order to fit my case, so that was no problem. After this major climb, I managed to hook up my PSU, the Corsair CXM 450W Semi-Modular PSU, and connect up all the necessary cables, including the front panel connectors, again per motherboard manual's instructions. I'll first address why the lower front fan isn't attached, and that's because I ran out of chassis fan headers. There are only two chassis fan headers on this motherboard and so I was unable to use my third case fan at the time of the build. With everything all set up, I hooked up my PSU cable to the wall, flipped the switch, and hooray, my system is functional! LEDs are on, case fans are spinning, It's a glorious day! it was at this point I sat in front of my half-assembled PC for ten minutes to grasp in the realisation that I had just built my first ever custom PC by myself. It was a magnificent evening. I then brought my new system up to my room, and had to use my TV as my display since my monitor refused to pick up any signal. (LTT tech support will know all about this incident) It was amazing to read my system on screen, new CPU, new memory, and a Samsung 850 Evo. I happened to notice my BIOS only recognised 4GB of RAM so I knew I had to reseat one of them, and so I did. Voila, 8GB of memory. Interestingly, I managed to get my third case fan on through using the vacant AIO pump header on my motherboard and setting aforementioned fan to DC mode so it doesn't spin at a constant 1500RPM. I am not certain this is safe but it works in the mean time and I'm happy I got my third case fan in. The next day (or morning, as I slept at 6am because of this build) I woke up to this beautiful sight. My very own working PC. I had the side panel off for a good few minutes just staring at my RGB fans as if it was a campfire, it was relaxing. I made sure to check my BIOS for my CPU cooler settings, set my RAM correctly to 2400MHz, and ensure my GPU was working, and then my build was finalised. I call her Sia. With my build done, I would like to take this time to share my thoughts and experience of building my very first PC. It's a scary experience, but after a dozen "How to Build a PC" YouTube walkthroughts, I came in confident that I could end the night (or morning) with a working PC. As soon as I gathered up all the parts, I was filled with confidence and adrenaline in building. I probably completed the installation of the CPU and RAM in merely five minutes. The CPU cooler was for sure the most difficult part, considering the Hyper 212 was not even my original cooler of choice. The included instructions were actually quite hard for me to follow that I needed a human to help. It really set my mood back a lot. It was my fault for not researching the cooler beforehand. I guess this is one of the points of building a PC where there's a steep learning curve, and I sure crashed into it. I really enjoyed building my first PC, just even putting on the fans, I could feel my individuality inside this PC, because I was the one who chose these and have assembled my own system. But of course, the best part was knowing the system works, and the sight of this PC showing its first 'ASUS' boot screen is an always will be an unforgettable moment.
  12. Hi everyone, I am building my first ever RGB PC and before you guys start giving me shit for going RGB, Let me you tell one thing I was a fan of RGB before it even became a thing so when RGB went mainstream I lost my shit. 13. So I finished building my first pc but theres a possibly big problem. The debug lamp of the cpu blinks in a wierd pattern (two times, although it should glow permanantly as long as a problem exists), stops after 20 sec and blinks a millisecond when I turn the pc off. Meanwhile the screen says: No Signal but if i unplug it slightly and plug it back in or press the plug even more into the port it seems to get a very short signal because it sometimes shows the message "No Signal - Please check your connection" Does any body know what i could do to make everything work? Many thanks in advance. mainboard: msi b350 pc mate cpu: ryzen 1700x ram: crucial ballistix sport lt gray ddr4 2400 gpu: gtx 1070 zotac psu: 500W be quiet! pure power 10 Tell, if there is any more information needed.I'll respond as early as i can.

  15. HI there. this is my first time building a pc. Lets get straight to the problem: I finished building, now I need to get a monitor etc. But, I don't know about windows. I don't have another pc with windows, so Idk what to do. My dvd drive is broke and not planning on replacing it, So I'm going to get a usb windows drive, but I have no clue if that will do the trick. Some advice? Thanks!

  17. I made this spreadsheet a while ago planning out my first PC built component by component and since I'm very inexperienced to this aspect I'm going to post the spreadsheet here and ask for sugestions for components to swap or better options entirely. (R$1 = US$0.2) I also uploaded the original spreadsheet file here btw. PC BUILD.xlsx
  18. To give a bit of background I have some experience with PC builds. What I'm running now is a standard refurbished office PC with windows 7 pro installed, DDR2 ram that I had to cannibalize from another, crappier office computer, and a GTX 1050Ti I shoved into it due to the fact it pulled power from the motherboard and was the only card I could find like that that could fit in the case. I'm pretty proud getting this thing up and running, but I want to not only get something more geared toward gaming, but I also want that experience of building a PC from scratch rather than Frankensteining one together. I have little knowledge in the fields of what is compatible with what and stuff like overclocking, heads up. I actually posted a long time ago before setting up what I have, but couldn't follow the suggestions I was given due to some medical issues that cropped up and took up my time and money. Any help is greatly appreciated. 1. Budget & Location I am in the US, my budget is around $300.00-400.00. GTX 1050TI already obtained, graphics card not needed. 2. Aim System is going to be used for getting into Overwatch competitively and, when it comes out for PC, Monster Hunter World. 3. Monitors Really only running one monitor, it needs an upgrade as it doesn't use HDMI, but it works for now. 4. Peripherals I already have adequate peripherals. I may need help figuring out how to turn over my windows 10 key from an old laptop I don't use to this PC though. 5. Why are you upgrading? Looking to be able to run things at higher frame-rates. My current PC starts Overwatch fine at around 60-70 FPS, but after about 15 minutes of playing will drop to around 30-20 without any immediate reason other than old hardware.
  19. Hello, My name is Matthew and I am interested in building my first PC. I have made a basic PCPartPicker list, and thought some people might have suggestions on how to improve it. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HL978Y My budget is roughly the current amount on the list. My aim for this machine is for gaming and video watching. I want to be able to run the latest games at 1080p 60fps at highest details, but also keep these settings later down the road. I often have many programs open including a game, YouTube Video, Discord, Spotify, and about 10 tabs of Firefox. I have all of the peripherals I need. I currently have one 1080p monitor. I may upgrade to two in the far future. I do have some questions about the current system in the list: 1. Is there any risk or differences from buying Windows from the seller on the list, or should I buy straight from Microsoft? (Windows 10 Home) 2. Compatibility Notes says The Noctua - NH-U9B SE2 37.9 CFM CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the ASRock - X470 Master SLI/AC ATX AM4 Motherboard. Is that something I should be worried about, and if so, what do I need to get to fix it? Thanks for your time!
  20. Hello everybody! I'm stuck with my old PC for quite a long time now, so I decided that it is time to buy a new one. To start: -> I'm a student so my budget is limited around €1.500 ~ $1800. -> I'm an average gamer, I don't care about 4k gaming and 8000+ benchmark scores, but multi-GPU is a thing I would concider to do in the future. -> I have a keyboard, mouse, headset and monitor (don't need to count that in my allready limited budget). -> You are free to choose if it is an AMD build or Intel build. -> I tried to make a PC part picker list, if that could help anyone:) https://pcpartpicker.com/user/NAGEL-MAY1/saved/QwHPsY Extra: -> Please note that I'm not rich and that I would like to keep this PC as long as I can (if this is possible). ->Is it possible to build a PC, with my budget, that could play games on ultra settings without any trouble? Kinds regards and Thanks in advance!
  21. Hello I'm reasonably new here and looking to build a workstation PC for general multitasking use as well as some light video, photo editing + media streaming in 1080p with Plex. This is the first time I have built a PC from scratch so go easy on me it is really important to me that this build is quiet though some noise from the HDD is okay because it wont be running constantly. I plan on running one 4k monitor but adding another down the track is a possibility. My max budget is around $2000 AUS. I know this could be overkill but I would like to use up my budget. Here's what I came up with for parts although I am unsure on these. (In Australian dollars) CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K ($498.00) CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock 3 ($89.00) Motherboard: MSI - Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 ($175.00) Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($277.00) Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.00) Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB ARMOR OC Video Card ($479.00) Case: be quiet! - Silent Base 800 (Orange) ATX Mid Tower Case ($169.00) Power Supply: Corsair - RMx 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($146.00) Total: $1906.00 AUS How do these parts look for what I have described? Thanks in advance.
  22. This is just a curious question but i'd like to hear out what pulled you people into playing games and made you a gamer you are today. What was that first system you have ever experienced that you have played games on? For me it was Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). When I was a little kid one of my cousins visited me for summer vacation, hes a lot older than me and he bought with him his shiny new gaming system. he have a glee on his face when he was setting it up and i had no idea back then why was he so happy and gleeful, but then he turned it on and then i saw it. It was amazing, it totally blew my mind, i was flabbergasted, i have never seen anything like that before and it was my first time. He was nice enough to let me play most of the time, he was very mature and understanding for his age. We played Mario Bros, Contra, Donkey kong, Duck hunt, Ice Climber, Excitebike, Bomberman. Those were my very first games. After he left i asked my father if we can have one, but back then we weren't really financially stable and those things were really expensive and i also didnt liked to bother him much when i already know we were struggling. But he did gave me small pocket change every now and then which i used to save up and go rent the machine for a day or 2 from the nearby rental stores. 5 Years later when we were finally financially stable enough, my father presented me with something i have never asked or dreamed of owning. My very own NES system. It was the best birthday ever and also the best present ever cause of how it made me feel. Things went by really fast after that, I introduced my other cousins who were younger than me to the world of gaming when they visited for summer. We used to play all night during summer. Those were the starting of my days as a gamer. We still play together, well not as often but once a year we host a big lan party and have a blast for old times sake. Well that is how i became a gamer i am today. All thanks to that one NES system my elder cousin introduced me to back when i am small. Thinking about it all again brings back those memories, the times we just spent playing together, just a bunch of kids, me and my cousins taking turns playing the game. Whoever looses have to handover the controller so everyone tried their best not to loose. Although my female cousins were not really interested in games but since majority of us were male they just decided to tag along and support us. Good old days eh? Yep good old days Sorry for the wall of text but i just got carried away by my memories.
  23. Hello, Im currently working on my first build and learning a lot. Id like to know your thoughts on the parts list i put together https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brandon_DS/saved/ksPCyc . I plan on using the system for 3d content creation using programs like modo , blender , maya, keyshot , marvelous designer, photoshop , photo scan Pro, Zbrush and other graphic/cpu intensive programs. I would also like to be able play games like Pub-g , tomb raider , Battlefield games, Far cry ,and racing games like dirt with a good amount of frames preferably at 2k resolution. I plan on running 3 monitors at some point one at 2k and the others at 1080p Im currently using a 2011 macbook pro that has had gpu problems in the past and isn't cutting it when it comes to working on 3d projects . I am In the US and i like the price its currently at which is $1454.90, Id be willing to spend a little more if its necessary for what i want to use it for. I also have another list thats slightly cheaper at $1376.81 with a cheaper ssd and different ram that wouldn't look as nice on the exterior but would perform about the same if im correct https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JQ4rV6 . I plan on adding more ram and storage later down the line as well. Please let me know your thoughts on what i put together , how i can improve it, or if there are any problems with it, Thanks!
  24. 1. Budget & Location Hey everyone! This is going to be my first post here. I'm planning my first ever PC build right now and I was wondering if what I'm doing makes sense. I like to believe that I've watched enough build videos and LTT videos to know what I'm doing, but a second opinion is never a bad idea, right? I don't really have a fixed budget, but I'd be ok with spending around €1100 (I'm from the Netherlands) (give or take about €100, not counting peripherals and monitor). 2. Aim The purpose of the pc will mainly be gaming (all kinds of titles, from more simple games like the Binding Of Isaac to the Witcher 3 and other demanding triple A titles). I'm not planning anything fancy like streaming or editing, mostly because of the cost associated with that. 3. Monitors I was planning to go with a simple single 1080p monitor setup (maybe an upgrade to QHD later down the line). Basically something cheap. 4. Peripherals & OS No fancy expensive keyboards or mice. Not straight out of the door anyway. For the OS I'll try to use the key from my current machine (windows 10). I am however not expecting it to work, since it came pre-installed. In that case I'll be getting windows 10 from kinguin (or use an old physical copy of Windows XP that I have lying around if all else fails ). 5. Why are you upgrading? The main reason I'm doing this build is because my laptop isn't doing too swell as my main rig. Full explanation in the spoiler. It basically turned into a novel, so I won't blame you if you didn't read it. TL;DR Noisy, slow, hot, broken laptop that I will not upgrade but keep as a somewhat flawed travel companion until it gives up the ghost. The objective: I care about looks as much as about function. My objective is to build a gaming pc with a classy, dark and stealthy aesthetic. No RGB and flashy colors, some white LED's are fine tho, like the Aorus logo. The parts: Case: Fractal Design Meshify C (Dark tempered glass) - €85.00 - I fell in love with this case. I saw a video of it on youtube and that was one of the main triggers that made me want to do a build in the first place. Cable management seems really good, the styling is (in my humble opinion) the best I've ever seen in a case, airflow is great and it isn't that expensive. Motherboard: X470 board - ~€120.00 - To go with the new generation Ryzen CPU. I'll check back on the pricing and availability in a few weeks. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 - ~€199.00 - The Ryzen 5 2600 is a good mid range cpu and the stock cooler looks good compared to intel's. RAM: Some ram, subtly colored 16GB (or 2x8GB) - ~€160.00 (€110.00 used) - Thinking about getting the RAM used. GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1060 6GB - ~€370.00 (around €280.00 used) - Also thinking about getting this used. I'm still debating whether or not to buy a GTX 1050 Ti or 1070 instead. CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Spire Stock Cooler - Comes with the CPU and looks way better than intel's stock cooler. PSU: Cooler Master Masterwatt 550 - €61.00 - After getting advice from here, I've decided to upgrade from a 450 to a 550W power supply. Case fans: 4x be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120 mm - €43.80 - These are for the front of the case as intakes and one in the back as exhaust. The two Fractal Dynamic X2's that come with the case will function as top mounted exhausts. This is because of aesthetic reasons. I want uniform fans front and rear. The top fans are less visible, so they won't ruin what I'm going for. SSD: Crucial MX500 SSD 250GB - €74.00 - Decided to downgrade from M.2 to regular SATA for the SSD HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3 TB - €83.95 - This should be enough storage to last me a while. I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice on this build plan.
  25. I am trying to put together a parts list for my first PC build. 1) I'm a Midwestern American, trying to keep a budget as low as possible (and definitely under $1000) 2) The system is going to be used for mainly meme web browsing. I do play Runescape, but I'm also looking into getting into CS:GO and Fallout. 3) I only plan on running a single monitor for the foreseeable future, but I wouldn't rule out a dual monitor setup in the future. 4)I'm going to need a new monitor, but I will look into a new keyboard and mouse in the near future (currently using Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse) 5) My reason for upgrading is my current daily driver is a Toshiba Satellite laptop that's 6 years old now. It's still functional, but it runs hot, the fan is noisy (bearing probably went bad), and the graphics drivers haven't had an update available in almost exactly 2 years now (Intel HD Graphics 4000, integrated graphics). I've looked on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace, but there's nothing in my area, so I'm mostly looking at Newegg or Amazon, and here's the parts list I've compiled so far. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ykccq4 Total as of right now, with all from Newegg, is $653.12 Including a GTX 1050 Ti, brings it up to $878.10 Do you think I'll be able to get by with integrated graphics (aiming for 1080P gaming) or should I hold off and upgrade later? Also forgot to mention I do already have speakers I am happy with (Sharp bookshelf speakers I got about 4 years ago at a pawn shop on a real good deal, and they are still sounding great)
