Hi! im planning on building my first rig only im not realy sure of what parts i should pick ( my budget is €1,300 / $1750 USD ) my budget is only for the pc it self so no monitor/mouse/keyboard/ os system. my goal is for the best gaming performance possible with my budget ( even preferable with some extra room to even expand in the future. ) i don't care if its Intel of AMD just who has the best performane for this price range. also what i prefer: 250gb SSD 1tb 7200rpm+ harddrive ( no more then 1tb needed) if anyone with allot of knowledge wanna help me that would be fantastic! thank you in advance.

OK so i have posted this pc...i think one time before on here...and was just wanting to know if it would bottleneck or anything..but i got alot of comments saying i could build something better , cheaper...but i was intent on what i had picked out cause i have did research making sure everything would work together and whatnot...but now im readdy to change it... SOME PARTS I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE SAME....AKA I WILL NOT CHANGE THEM (((if i see a comment saying to change one of the following parts i will not finish reading that comment and go on to next comment))) ***THE GTX 780 GPU *** THE STORM STRYKER CASE ***AMOUNT OF RAM, ***THE AMOUNT OF STORAGE ***THE OS (i do need a fully modular power supply) I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE CHEAPER...AND BETTER...LOL PLEASE HELP ...well here is my build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/gamer1000percent/saved/dJn8TW

Hello! I am new to computers and have been watching all the Linus Tech Tips/ Techquickie videos and build guides for the past month. This is my first post on these forums so i apologize in advance if i sound stupid or am posting in the wrong spot. I was hoping to learn about computer before I decided to start building my own. I am still unsure of where to actually begin planning . My preferences/ restrictions: Cost: - $150 - $250 for Monitor (Do i need more?) - $900 - $1100 for System unit (including case, graphics card, cpu, memory (8 GB pref), storage (1tb HDD + ssd, if i can afford), video card, power supply, motherboard, cooling and other(?)) - $50 - $60 for Mouse - $60 - $80 for Keyboard - ~$100 for Other (am i missing something?) **Is this enough money? or should I wait? What I plan to use computer for: - Rpg, Fps and Moba gaming (not hardcore) - School work - Movies/Videos, Music - General browsing I am currently using a 4+ year old Toshiba notebook which runs WIndows 7 Home Premium and has an Intel Core i3 CPU m 370 @2.40 GHz and had 4GB of RAM. It says the system type is "64 - bit operating system", I dont know what this means . When it first got it it ran fine for about 2 years, but I did not take very good care of it. It has had several overheating issues and is kind of slow, but I mostly have issues with programs going "not responding" very often. Did I mention its cracked open and held together by tape? **I am still saving up for the new computer (part time job), but I want to get it as soon as I can!! Are there any parts I can delay getting, without hurting the performance too much? I would greatly apperciate any advice or recomendations! Thanks!

Okay team, I have compiled what I believe to be a decent $500-650 gaming rig that, in theory, should give me moderately adequate performance for the cash. The question though, What would y'all change? I don't want an "AMD vs. Nvidia" debate, a full replacement build or anything like that. I just want tweaks, add-ons, or improvements. Thanks in advance for the help! (this would be my first build, btw.) AMD Athlon X4 760K CPU MSI A78M-E35 Motherboard 2GB EVGA GTX 650Ti Boost GPU 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD 430W Corsair CX430 PSU Rosewill Line-M Case Wi-Fi Adapter - TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 I thinks that's all... Thanks!

Hello everyone, I hope this in the correct area (I'm new to this forum) I currently game on a Xbox 360S but I'm really not happy with it and want to upgrade to a gaming PC. This will be my first time buying components and putting them together, so any advice/tips/warning are very much appreciated thank-you! I have a total budget of around £500-£550 for the actual components. And then more for games and operating system etc. Please can somebody take a look at these components and tell me if they are good enough, and are they compatible/will work? Hey Guys, I'm planning on getting a PC built by PC Specialist and would like some tips on things I could remove to shed the cost. Here's what I have so far: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/view/Vortex-750-gaming-pc/?set_country=GB&set_currency=GBP&x=13&y=7 It's currently at £1690 and I can only go roughly £100 more. I want to use it for gaming and CAD software (like solidworks, because my laptop doesn't run it that well). This is my first time not buying a pre-built computer and I'd appreciate any help. But please don't be too harsh, like I said, it's my first. Thanks, Been PS Please don't suggest windows 8.1, I've got that on my laptop and I despise it

Hello, I am doing my first build soon and I have almost all my components picked out. My current components: EVGA Hadron + 500 Watt 80+ Gold PSU M-ITX ASRock Z87E-ITX LGA 1150 Intel Z87 EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW Edition 8 or 16 GB of G Skills RAM SAMSUNG 840 EVO 120 GB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM So my problem is the CPU. I am not planning to overclock so the stock cooler is fine. I am sort of on a budget and I need a decent gaming CPU that is affordable! Please help, much appreciated!

So I am doing my first build in a few days and I was just seeing if there was anything else that I needed or should do. The thing that I am most worried about is the RAM, specifically the Vengeance Pro vs the Vengeance. Also I get Windows for free because of Dreamspark and already have a monitor and peripherals. Here is the writeup: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tgbYmG Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tgbYmG/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($269.99 @ Micro Center) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($89.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: ASRock X79 Extreme6 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard ($214.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($92.04 @ NCIX US) Storage: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card ($464.99 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: Corsair RM 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.99 @ Newegg) Other: Microsoft Windows 8.1 ($0.00) Total: $1421.97 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-07-28 15:45 EDT-0400

*Alright - so I noticed I'm a little short on cash... I forgot about the 13% Tax!* This used to be my old planned build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/QKshFT And this is my current one I'm looking at: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2rQYmG Aim: Firsts things first, this is going to be mainly for gaming, but I'm a small YouTuber and I will be uploading videos 2 - 3 times a week and I plan on doing game design/programming next year. I have a project planned for the future (Dev. time 2015 - 2017), which will require a lot of rendering. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to purchase an i7 (I don't think I need it as of now). So an i5 will have to do for now... I might just sell the CPU on Classifieds when I have an extra $150 in my pocket, but the question is... Is an i5 decent enough to render? Budget & Location: My budget is about $1400 for the build, $1600 total (Taxes included), Since I'm in Canada, I will be using NCIX. To save some money, I decided to drive to their store instead of getting the parts shipped. Monitors: I will be using 1 monitor, and I don't plan on upgrading to any more in the near future... Keep in mind, plans may change. The monitor I am currently using will run at 1920x1200, which I purchase a new one in months to come. Peripherals: No, I don't need any Peripherals, I have my own. I will need an OS, but I will just purchase a key off of G2A and boot it off a USB. (ISO drive) Side notes: - I didn't choose any SSDs for my build, but I may be able to get some off a friend who will help me with the build... I will add those later on, and plan to upgrade other parts as time goes on such as Dual 780's, SSDs, Water cooling, etc. - If you are going to re-edit my build please use ca.pcpartpicker.com and multiply the base total by 0.13 so the final price makes it easier on me. - Yes, I am going to SLI in the future, but you never know, I can turn that 780 to a 870 or 880 when before I start to SLI. That's about all the information I can provide, if you have any more questions - I'll be sure to answer! Reason I'm asking for help is I'm looking for any cheaper parts but has the same power. For example, I'm not too sure about the memory I have chosen, and hopefully looking for a cheaper, yet more reliable part in that category. Still quite new to this, so pardon my noob(ness) Thanks for the help, cheers!

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, but I think it's very helpful so far. I'm going to college and I have around $2000 to spend on a gaming rig. I'd love it if you guys could help me out on what I should build. Also, I'd like to play on really high settings if that helps. My favorite games are: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Just Cause 2, Age of Mythology, Age of Empires III, GTA IV & V, Star Wars Battlefront I & II, Borderlands II, Saints Row The Third, Minecraft, and Bioshock Infinite. I'd love to play other new games, it's just that my laptop is shit at playing games. I'd also love it if the rig is powerful enough to both edit photos in Photoshop and edit videos. Thanks in advance!

Hi I'm building a computer for the first time and I got mostly everything working but I'm still having some issues, my specs are: i7 4790k @ 4ghz (base value) Corsair H80i water cooler for CPU EVGA GTX 770 Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard 16GB Crucial Ballistix Elite 8x2 1x Samsung SSD - 250GB 1xWD Blue HDD - 1TB Corsair CS650M PSU Windows 8.1 64bit The problems I am having are: (1) The only way I can connect my monitor is through the graphics card HDMI not the port on the motherboard (2) Might be having issues with the CPU temp. not exactly sure- At idle CPU temp reads: 35 degrees Celsius highest read value 52 degrees Celsius After playing BF4 for about 15 minutes: 39 degrees Celsius highest read value 84 degrees Celsius <-- Thats what I'm questioning. Any help I can get would be great, I don't really know whats wrong and this is my first build. Thanks

My budget is around $700 dollars and for my first time build; this is what I have come up with - CPU: AMD FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon R9 270X Ram: G.SKILL 8GB (2x4GB) Ripjaws X Series MoBo: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 1TB HD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Case: NZXT Phantom 240 Your feedback is appreciated and I would love to hear any recommendations you guys may have! Thank you.

Cousin is buying the parts (I'm building). Need Opinions! I threw this together to keep in his price range. Keep in mind, the reason why it's so much for a first build is because he will need a few peripherals. Originally ~$730 USD. PCPartPicker / Price Breakdown by Merchant CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor -Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P RAM (Random Access Memory): Kingston Beast 8GB (2 x 4GB) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB GPU (Graphics Card): EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB FTW ACX Case: Thermaltake Chaser A31 ATX Mid Tower PSU (Power Supply Unit): Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Peripherals Monitor: BenQ GL2460HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor Keyboard: Corsair Raptor K40 Mouse: Getting this for him. Hopefully. Headset: Razer Kraken Pro Price For All: $975.87 USD What do you think? To me, looks nice, but you all my see somethings differently that I didn't see. So tell me, what can I change, but keep it in this $980 budget, but make it better for him?

I just built my PC, and I can't find a way to set up the network in the BIOS. The mobo is: MSI Z97 Gaming 5. Anybody know how to fix? I know it'a a noob question. It's my first build.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums I've been watching LTT's videos for quite some time now and a friend of mine recommended to use the forums. I've been wanting a new PC for quite some time now, and with some encouragement from the internet I decided to build a PC! Here is my build, and please leave some recommendations (Removal, Adding, Replacing, etc.) Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/D4PXJx The major points will be listed below for more information, Cheers! Aim: I'm a small YouTuber and I will be uploading videos almost daily and I plan on doing game design/programming. I have a project I've already begun working on, and I have a project planned for the future, which both will require a lot of rendering. This is why I chose an i7 for my build. However; don't get me wrong - I will be using this for my daily dose of gaming for new games. Budget & Location: My budget is about $1500 - 1600, and I live in Canada. I will be using NCIX to order my parts. Monitors: I will be using 1 monitor, and I don't plan on upgrading to any more in the near future... Keep in mind, plans may change. The monitor I am currently using will run at approximently 1366x768... Don't worry! I will be upgrading in a month or two as I store more money. Peripherals: No, I don't need any Peripherals, I have my own. I will need an OS, that's why I chose Windows 8.1 as it's faster than 7 overall. Concerns: (Please read all of the concerns, as this is important to note!) - I didn't choose any SSDs for my build, but I may be able to get some off a friend who will help me with the build... I will add those later on, and plan to upgrade other parts as time goes on such as Dual 780's, SSDs, Water cooling, Sound cards, etc. - I'm afraid the parts will not fit in the case, especially parts that will be added in the future, such as Water cooling, sound cards, and other parts, and I'm hoping I can get nice air flow through the case. I have a really thick carpet, and LTT recommended this case for those who have it. - The motherboard chosen was from my friend who told me to use your forums, however LTT said this isn't a motherboard for gaming... I'm not sure if this will be good enough, judging by the aims I set for the build... Will this be a problem? Thanks for helping me with my build, I will continue to use the forums after I get this out of the way. As I said, please leave some recommendations or ask me some questions, I'm free to take note as I only know the basics, so bare with me. Thanks for helping me out! EDIT: Noticed I need an Optical Drive, any suggestions? UPDATE: With all the help I have gotten, this is my current build so far: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/QKshFT

Hello, I'm making my first computer and I need help choosing a motherboard. 1150 Support Possibility to CrossfireX one day Now here is the tricky part I think, I'm going with a white Define R4 Windowed, and I would like a White and Blue style overall, so the ram will be blue or white, I'm going with a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X which is yellow but that doesn't really matter. The motherboard needs to match everything else Red and Black (which seems to be the norm) wouldn't go well with White and Blue (or would it ) If you could just suggest some motherboards I'd appreciate it. Hello, I'm in the midst of putting an online basket of PC parts together, I have picked a R9 290 from Sapphire, the Tri-X one, before I was going to go with Nvidia and take a 770 2Gb. Which one would be better. I plan on upgrading screens year by year until I have 3 , so Eyefinity has me covered there, but would the 770 last longer etc... ? Can you give me the pros and cons of each ? Msi 770 2Gb - 265€ R9 290 4Gb - 355€ It seems like the R9 is between the 770 and the 780 so a 775

I am saving up for my first (and probably last) gaming rig, and i wanted to be sure it's all compatible. I'm also worried about cooling, are the case included fans enough, or would i need some extra? One last thing: Are there any red-colored alternatives for the ram slots and the power supply? I dont like the yellow inbetween all the red stuff, i want my first build to be sooper classy 8) Link: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Sooperfish/saved/8PkwrH Budget: around $2200 (€1600 since i'm european) (I will buy some parts on ebay) And yes, i know titan is overkill. I just really can't resist buying one.

Hey guys! I'm planning my first build, and i'm both excited and terrified Therefore, to calm my nerves, please tell me what you think! I'm going to use photoshop, no heavy 3D though, and i'm planning to mod skyrim heavily and play some other 'heavy(?)' games, like metro last light. Would this work? Or do you know other/better components? Also, is it realistic to build for someone with zero experience? List on pcpartspicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/s6r4Bm The monitor I was planning on getting is the BenQ GW2760HE, is it any good? I considered an i7, however as a student, 100 euros extra is a lot of money. So I need to be sure that it's worth it. What is your opinion on that? Thank you for your time!!! Siliqua

I'm soon to be in the market to purchase an (Intel) processor for my first PC. I am aware that there are numerous factors that go into making this decision- but I don't quite get it. I want to go with a 4 core Intel i7, but additional details such as clock speed and those "other" specifications seem very strange. There are huge price differences for processors that seem very similar- a 3960x is nearly $1,000 while a 4770 is only about $300 (not that I am considering either of these). How do I make my decision?

Hello peoples, I am going to be building my first gaming build soon. I will be using this for 1080p, 60Hz gaming as well as general use and maybe some streaming and/or recording. My budget is around $1300 and I plan on overclocking. This is what my current setup looks like: CPU: AMD FX-8320 CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3-1600MHz SSD: Corsair Force LX 256GB(if it is released by then) or Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM GPU: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB Gaming PSU: Corsair RM650W ATX12V/EPS12V Case: Corsair 450D ATX Mid Tower Edit: Another thing I forgot to add was a monitor. Currently I picked out a 22" 1080p, 60Hz IPS panel for $140, however TN panels I suppose are good enough for me. All parts picked using pcpartspicker and it comes out to about $1250. I understand there is some hate towards AMD from some people(especially for the 3-year old FX line), but this is budget and I want to overclock, so the next step up is the i5-4690k and that is about $120, more depending on where you look, and the price of the motherboard is more as well(not sure how much exactly, but I'm guessing at least $50). If any of you have any suggestions, questions, or anything, let me know!

Hey all, I've been throwing the idea around of building my first computer (although I likely will not actually do so until I desperately need a new one), and have been snooping around for components. I noticed that Austin Evan's most recent personal build is based in the Fractal Define R4 case. Although it would be my first, I would like the build to be a long lasting and effective one (such as room to watercool multiple components and/or add a second graphics card later on in its life). People who have bought the Define R4 like the sizing, layout, styling, and sound solutions the case brings, but many of the wire management and hard drive locations have sounded inconsistent and a bit more difficult to manage for a new builder. Can anybody with experience (either with this specific case or in general) vouch for this case or recommend a more practical one? I'm up for a challenge, but it still need to be doable with my zero experience. To be completely honest, I have not really dived into the case market yet, so someone who could also simplify and explain major brands as well as their strengths/weaknesses would also be a huge plus for me.
