Hi, I am in the process of making a gaming pc with a budget of $1,500. This is my first time building a computer, so any advice will be appreciated. Here is a build that I had in mind: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZMJsvV . Any constructive criticism will be appreciated.

So i made a post early today with some parts for a new pc build. To be honest it was a mess, CPU didn't even match the motherboard lol. After taking all the tips given, extended reserch and stuff this is what i came up with: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor Asus Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboards H170M-PLUS/CSM {what does csm mean? couldn't really find answers to that. Should i get the one that it's just plus? i chose this one just couse it was cheaper} MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB GT OC Video Card Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Deepcool TESSERACT SW ATX Mid Tower Case RAM (i'm thinking 16gb (2x8), hyperx fury maybe?) Corsair CXM 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Some facts as instructed in the recommendations thread: Budget & location: i live in Uruguay, we got it tough here, prices are very high due to importation and not really a big demand, so much that it's actually cheaper to buy everything on amazon and make them send it all. My budget is about $1000 which minus taxes and shipping let's say it's between 600 and 700 (i'm talking usd here). BTW the current build is about $600 Aim: Well, gaming as much as it can handle, also study and work (but that doesn't matter here). I like to do some multitasking, playing and maybe some video on the side or whatever, i'm pretty sure the i5 can cover that. Monitors: One, for now. which i have to buy so if you have some suggestions... Peripherals: I got that one covered. i'm going to run windows. May do a virtual pc to run linux. Why are you upgrading? the one i have right now can't even handle some indie games been using it for over 6 years and it's awfully outdated. All of that said. What are you guys opinion? Should i change something? Will i create a massive bottleneck somewhere?

Any advice on sites who have hardware at good prices? i know of newegg and they have some amazing sales, but is there anywhere else?

I want a little advice about my system. I have chosen the following parts and as you can see I haven't chosen a case neither the cooling system. The reason is that I want to make it as silent and as cool as I can. As for the budget, I'd like to spend something between 100-150 and for the cooling system I'd like to spend maximum 60% of the case's budget. Do you have any suggestions for a silent PC case and cooling system? Parts picked

PCPartPicker Part List First time building a PC. I'd love it if you could look over my parts and see if I'm overlooking anything. Purpose: I'm going to start my Masters in Engineering next year and I wanted to beef up my computer. While gaming is appreciated, I'm looking for something powerful first and gaming second, which is why my GPU is likely to be my bottleneck. Looking to spend somewhere in the realm of $1000. CPU: I plan to overclock the Ryzen 5 2600. I also wanted a water cooler mostly for the flex so that might be slightly mismatched. ¯\(ツ)/¯ GPU: Question, which would be better, a $200 ($180 w/ Google Express) XFX AMD Radeon RX 590 Fatboy OC+ or a $210 Sapphire AMD Radeon Nitro+ RX 580. I have heard very great things about the Sapphire Nitro RX 580 but I'm not sure if the RX 590 deal from today is a better one. macbook pro died. Building first video editing pc.
aclebre posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello everyone, First time posting and new to the pc world. I've been using an old 2011 macbook pro 17in laptop to editing videos for over 6 years. Sadly, like most 2011 macbook pros, the graphics chip died...again. So with the crazy high prices for new models I've decided to look into the pc building world. After some months watching a whole bunch of videos on youtube, I think I have a starting point for a build, but could really use some feed back to see if I'm missing something. Following the format for this thread heres what I got. 1. Budget & Location Around $1500 US. I'm planning to order the parts one Cyber Monday here in the States to get some killer deals to save some money for a monitor or for better components. 2. Aim Video Editing is the main purpose. I'm going to be start regularly posting videos on youtube so it's going to be a work horse. I use many of the Adobe CC programs like Premiere, Audition, Lightroom, Photoshop, and some others. Maybe some light gaming but it's not a need. 3. Monitors Right now I could use my 4K tv to hold me over for now. I've been looking into the Dell - P2715Q 27.0" has been getting good reviews from other content creators. 4. Peripherals No idea yet. Planning to use some spare ones I got lying around until I find ones I like. I'm open to suggestions 5. Why are you upgrading? Walking away from the Apple tree. I loved my 17in macbook pro but the world, and Apple, has changed quite a bit. Here's what I'm thinking so far. Intro: Hello there! I've been wanting to build my own PC for a while now, but also wanted to make sure it's high-end and done right. I've been watching LTT's youtube channel and read some stuff here and there, swapped computer parts and am pretty handy, but have never really built a PC from the ground-up and wanted to consult you guys before i go into it. Goal: I'm trying to build a PC that will last me for a while and will not be outdated in like 2 years. It will primarily be used for coding, some image editing and games. None of those will be in like heavy use. I'm not trying to get the best FPS from the latest titles, nor i'm going to render heavy 3D models or anything of the sort. With all that said i want my PC to be capable of tackling heavier tasks every now and then if needed, while simultaneously looks somewhat decent. Budget: I haven't set myself a specific budget yet, as i'm ready to spend a buck more, but also trying to stay away from anything over $5k USD. I'm not that into it lol. What i need help with: I'm trying to get an opinion from real-world use on the parts that i'm getting. For example if it's worth spending the extra buck for 1080ti over 1080 or should i go next gen and get 2080/2080ti. Best places to purchase said parts. Advises on the build itself: what should i be careful for, how should i prepare, what should and shouldn't be done. Example: i've never had experience with water cooling. Does it come pre-assembled, what kind of liquid do i use, how do i make sure to prevent liquid damage etc. etc. Selected parts list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Njm0iKosUcabEhzqJyRMR2fF2q2xnf-YOWwzU9c9Ts/edit?usp=sharing Thank you in advance! EDIT: Forgot to mention i already have a monitor: Acer CZ380CQK 37.5" WQHD+ 75Hz Peripherals are not that important i can figure that out on my own

Hi all, Looking to invest and build a a gaming PC. Nothing too fancy but I don't plan on changing / upgrading any part of it for 3-5 years?. Daily use will be limited, but on evenings I want to be gaming - 1440p preferable and not bothered about 4k. Mainly i play sim games ( HOI4, CIV, Total Wars, Train sims and also open world style GTA 5 / Red Dead Redemption) Originally i was going a 'budget' build (hence ryzen) but once the total got close to a £1000 i thought i'm happy to spend that little bit more - get the tempered glass case and admire it every time i see it. If i'm paying good money i want to see it in all its glory. This should allow me to buy on any deals ( black friday / xmas / new releases ) I have old peripherals and don't need to buy new ones until i know my setup better in my new house. (desk sizes / placing etc) Not fixed on any parts in particular so i'f you can advise any substitutions let me know below. Plan is to boot and use the Samsung M.2 as my primary with the OS and general programs, my game library isn't massive so i'll pickup a 500gb SSD card. GPU i went from 1070 then for ~£50 more up to 1070 ti then for ~£50 more up to the 1080 which i think is worth investing in to future proof? Just a few questions - I'm not planning to overclock so will stock wraith cooler be sufficient or do i need bigger? Will have at least 2 fans at the front and 1 at the back, or up to 3 at the front and 2 at back/top. Not looking to water cool. Can i use the M.2 stick as a boot / will i be getting the best performance from it? Or am i wasting money and a SSD be no loss? I know the wireless adapter is a tad OTT but is it worth getting it built into the motherboard? I know the 16GB ram is OTT and will probably drop to 2x4GB and that still leaves room for another set of 2x4GB. This was an end game plan. Will power be an issue? i went for bequiet as i want this PC on top of the desk. Any help appreciated.

Doing my first build, I'm wondering if the order in which you install the RAM into the DIMM slots matters? Not the configuration, my motherboard goes slot 2 and 4 and then 1 and 3, which I'm sure of, but the actual order that you install them in before turning on the computer. So if I did slot 4 and then slot 2 with two paired sticks of RAM, would that affect anything? My motherboard's manual says to install slot 2 first, but I think that might be if you're only using one stick.

Hi my name is <removed by staff> and from singapore, I'm working on my plans for my first pc. My room is pretty small since it's a expanded store-room in a 3 room flat. I tried getting help from hardwarezone but got no reply, and since I'm watching LTT vids to learn building my system i thought I could find some help here. My budget is around sg$1400/us$1100, im hoping use a sg13 or CM H100 so it wouldn't take up too much of my space. I plan to use the system for editing my baking videos and playing some games (smite, rocket league, LOL, Fortnight and gtav.) and schoolwork. Thanks for the help and suggestions

I want to make a PC with a Ryzen 5 3600 or an Intel i7 and a RX5700XT or a 2070 Super but beside these 2 things I don't know much about motherboards, power supplies. cases ,etc if someone can give me an idea of a good build that isn't to high in price but in the middle of $900 - $1200 tops $1300 if anyone can help? I want a build for both streaming and gaming above 1920 x 1080 and 100 fps+

Budget (including currency): $700 or PHP 35,000 Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Solidwork, Blender, AutoCAD, MATLAB, and CSGO Other details: I'm stuck between having a Ryzen 5 2600 and a GTX 1660 with it, or a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1650. Trying to avoid bottlenecking and at the same time going for what I consider the "ultimate" choices for parts that I can afford at the moment. Hi guys! It's my first time posting and building a pc of my own, I just wanted to know what you guys think. Cheers!

motherboard 8+4 pin eps connector required?
beepboop6 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, planning my first PC build at the moment. Looking to get this motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-GAMING-7-WIFI-rev-10#kf . Noticed it has both a 4 pin and an 8 pin ecs connector on it. Are both of these required to be plugged in and if so is there a specific keyword to look for when searching for a Psu to ensure it has a second port for the second cable -
Hey everyone! Long time viewer of the ltt channel first time forum poster, well I am finally building my very first PC after having used an PC that my dad had handed down to me, So now I am planning on making a brand new computer and giving my current computer to my little brother. I am planning on reusing the GTX 1050ti that I have in my current PC in the new build, here's the PC part picker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sCTdr6 My budget is roughly $700 USD however I can stretch it to $750 USD max for a little more performance. I am located in Florida, United States. My aim for this computer is really for some 1080p gaming and for school as I'm currently in school for programming and having a computer that can run some code without dying would be really nice. Along with some HD video watching and web browsing. The type of gaming would be for games such as League of Legends and some Civilization 5 but I'd like to eventually get into some triple AAA gaming. I am currently using a single 32" 1080p 60htz Samsung TV and don't particularly plan on moving towards more monitors and plan to use it with the new PC as well. I already bought new peripherals so I do not particularly need a new Keyboard and Mouse. I don't think I'll need a new OS as I'll be keeping the HDD from my current PC and run it off of there if I can't figure out to move the OS to the SSD. I am upgrading as my current PC is quite limited by the motherboard as it's at least 10 years old and I think it's time to upgrade as it's pretty outdated and it's pretty rough to do much in and it really hurts to be such an enthusiast and have something from the stone ages at home but I finally have a job that allows me to follow my enthusiast passion any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, so I have decided to build a custom PC for my work at home job and some gaming. I'm not looking to build something that is super high-end. All I need is a computer that can do some moderate video editing (adobe premiere) and can handle Borderlands well for gaming (at 1080 with 60fps). I know I want it to be mid-tower (micro-ATX), but I am stuck at finding the right CPU, GPU, Motherboard combo. Any suggestions on combos that work well together that are within the $350-450 budget range? I have the case, power supply, and SSD/HDD.

Hey guys, I'm building a pc for the first time. Im in the US, and I'm a casual gamer. I don't play demanding titles like crysis 3 or rise of the tomb raider. I mainly play things like CSGO, Dead by Daylight, Fallout 4, Skyrim. Im looking to play at high settings at 1080p. I'm also at the top of my budget. Here are the parts I've selected. Let me know if this is a solid build, and if there is anything I should consider. CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i v2 GPU: GTX 780 ti (I know it's old, but it'll be plenty for CSGO and PUBG) MOBO: Asus strix B350-F RAM: G skill Ripjaw 16 GB (2x8) PSU: EVGA Supernova G3 650 watt CASE: Fractal design Meshify C. HDD: WD Blue 1 TB 7200 Also does the Meshify C have enough room for a front mounted radiator? Little concerned about that. Thanks so much guys! Excited to join #pcmasterrace!!! I have been foaming at the mouth to build my first PC, and after a year of watching LTT and other tech channels I finally have the chance to create my build. Going into this build I have a few wants and needs: -Must be under $1200 US(Although the lower the better) -Must use 7th gen i7-7700k -Must use GTX 1070 Ti -Must be ATX board in mid or full tower case (Window is preferred) -Must have fully modular power supply -Preferably has Trident Z RGB RAM (No preference on speed) -Preferably has aesthetically appealing motherboard (RGB and aesthetically appealing is Double Plus Good) So on to the list: I have gone through multiple drafts of part lists and have finally settled on the following: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dtF3yX The only problem with this build is that I am trying to treat myself but not use all my money, and this build does not have a overclocking capable motherboard. I am well aware that overclocking is for the experienced, but I am concerned that if I do decide I am ready for it, I will have to spend another 300+ just to get the proper cooling and board to support it. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated

I am an engineering PhD student whose work involves image processing with MATLAB, and I'm also into casual video editing and 3D modeling in Blender. Naturally, I also like to game a little on the side. I would like to build something that can do it all for under 1900 USD if possible. What do you all think of this build? Is there anywhere I can save money? Do I have any bottlenecks? Is the case super gross? Please give me your two cents on this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7y7rTH

Just want to start off with a quick thank you for helping me out, I'm so grateful this forum exists. I have been doing as much homework as I can but I'm new to this and there are so many options that I'm struggling not to get lost. Ok, per your build plan recommendations: 1. Budget & Location $1200-1500; BC, Canada 2. Aim I need a new computer for 1080p gaming (fallout 4, Farming Simulator 17, etc) that can also easily run Adobe Photoshop & InDesign, as well as sound recording/editing software like Reaper for making podcasts (maybe music as well in the future), maybe also some light video editing, but nothing too crazy. I am hoping to build a decent, yet moderate rig with lots of room to expand and upgrade. 3. Monitors Right now I have one 1080p monitor, I might add a second for work stuff, but not necessarily for gaming. 4. Peripherals I already have all the peripherals I'll need. Although I'll need to pick up windows 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? My Lenovo Y510p laptop kicked the bucket, and although I could probably get it fixed it's getting pretty old (+5 years) and I would rather just get a desktop anyways. Where I'm at so far. Here I'll list some components I've picked out and why I think they're a good pick. Obviously I'm looking for your help so feel free to suggest alternatives or tell me I'm way off the mark. Case: Corsair Vengeance Series C70 - I feel dumb listing this first but I feel like it is the only thing I've settled on. It's a quality build, the aesthetic is right up my alley, and there is a ton of room for expandability and improvement. The price is a little much, but worth it. CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 - I would also consider an i5 8600, no brand preference. I feel like this would give me enough power for image layout/editing and sound editing without going overkill on the budget. The 1600 also comes with a stock air cooler, something that I want to be able to upgrade in the future, but for now will work as is. GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 3GB - based 100% on the LTT video last month. I'm going to be keeping it 1080p for the foreseeable future. Plus I had a GeForce graphics card in my laptop and I was pretty happy with it. RAM: 8GB - I'm a little up in the air about 8GB or 16GB, but I figure to keep the costs reasonable I can keep it to 8 for now and get another 8 in the future. (is it better to get one 8GB stick or two 4GB sticks?) Motherboard: MSI 350 Tomahawk - There are so many motherboards on newegg that I'm completely overwhelmed. This one stands out because the design isn't over the top, but more importantly is has USB 3.1 (with a Type-C port!!), 4 RAM slots and a reasonable price (although I don't know if I'm going to want a seperate sound card or this is going to be good enough). PSU: Seasonic 550FX - quality PSU with great reviews, big enough for what's listed above with room to grow. Storage: I was going to start off with one 500GB SSD and one 4TB HDD, and the case offers a ton of room to grow. So this is where I'm at now. Please feel free to ask questions or pick apart my selection. The only thing I'm really set on is the case and my budget, everything else is up for scrutiny. And thank you again for your time, I'm very grateful.
