Pretty much settling on a build after a long long time of debating. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4vNbbj This is the build I chose, I am still going to wait for coffee lake to see how it compares but I'm really liking how this build turned out. I do have a couple questions however... Do you think the 1700 and gtx 1080 will be able to handle 1440p and be able to match up with the monitor? Is it worth switching to a X370 MOBO or does it not really matter? Thats about it, if anyone has any other feedback please let me know. Thanks

I've been looking to build a new pc for awhile now and I am now fully able to. This is the build I picked out on PC part picker. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YLkjTH Im 100% set on the 7700K and 1080Ti combo but other than that i'm somewhat open to changing parts. My main goal is just gaming, I would love to be able to keep this rig for years to come and not have to do any serious upgrading but still being able to run new games. The main things I'm not too sure about is the motherboard, cooler, and PSU. I'd love to lower the price a bit but not sure where I can change things. I'm new to PC gaming and have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to motherboards. As I said I'd love to lower the price but if the mobo I have picked out is garbage i'm fine with changing. I'd hate to have to upgrade it in the near future. When it comes to the cooler I was looking at the Cryorig H7 but based on the price I didn't think it would be good enough for this rig, I was also looking at the Cooler Master Liquid 240 but I was a little worried about 1) the price and 2) I have no knowledge of liquid coolers and would hate to have a leak or mess something up and ruin parts. When it comes to the smaller stuff I want to make sure everything will work fine and I don't have issues during or after the build whether its a program, compatibility issues, etc. . If anyone has any big or small suggestions please let me know. Thanks

I've been looking to build a new pc for a very long time and am definitely set on buying one very soon. My main focus is purely gaming, I have no interest in changing the CPU to AMD. Here is my build so far, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VFjfWX I have mostly everything picked out besides the case and monitor and possibly some other small accessories. My budget is around 2300 but i'd really like to stay under if possible. I am pretty much set on a 144hz 1440p 27 inch monitor but not sure which one I should go with so if anyone has some suggestions please let me know. I was looking at the BenQ but wasn't sure if I could save a few bucks and go with something else. Also the case, I am not set on one what so ever and would very much appreciate any suggestions. I'd like to keep the case under the 120$ mark if possible. Thanks to everyone who helps out

1. Budget & Location Around €2000 - €2600 or $2300 - $3000 range. Netherlands, but there is quite a big markup on parts bought from vendors here so I’m also looking for cheaper alternatives on Amazon and Ebay or anything else that ships to The Netherlands. Tips on this are very welcome! 2. Aim Game development with programs such as Unreal Engine, Visual Studio etc and the occasional movie editing. And of course AAA gaming! 3. Monitors At least two monitors each with 2560x1440 resolution. 4. Peripherals I have a keyboard and mouse for it and I intend to start with a Ubuntu OS and otherwise Windows 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm looking for a game station and work station in one able to play AAA games at 2560x1440, 144Hz/FPS, high/ultra settings. I have been using a Lenovo Y500 for the past few years as my only computer, which is why I am more than ready to go all out on the specs and get the best possible system. So far I have compiled the following list of my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8tvF6X *Note 1:* >NZXT - Kraken X62 Liquid CPU Cooler and SHARKOON - DG7000-G (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case are not compatible. I checked and the NZXT Kraken should be able to fit at the top of the Sharkoon Case so this should (?) be a false flag. *Note 2:* Prices seem about right, as a reference I made the same list for Dutch vendors here: Tweakers List The total is €2870.95 ($3279.57) which is considerably higher than the list from PCPartPickers so it seems better to just order everything internationally. *Note 3:* In the future I hope to upgrade from 32 GB to 64 GB of RAM and to order the monitor again to have a dual screen setup. I furthermore don't intend to overclock anything outside of what is allowed by the manufacturers through their software. *Final note:* This is to become my "Dream" computer which is why I have chosen parts that go well together in terms of aesthetics with an overall black and red led lighting theme. See the Sharkoon case demonstration and my Tweakers List for the impression i'm going for. Another example Any suggestions are more than welcome and if it is good to go then I intend to start ordering. Thank you very much in advance!

Hey guys! Been awhile since I've posted. But, I've started thinking about recording videos again lately. I have a Blue Yeti (silver one) and a pop filter. I understand most of the setups and such. My question is, how can I eliminate feedback from my mechanical keyboard (green switch) without buying a $100 arm stand? Can I use a full length mouse and keyboard mat to prevent feedback? I've heard of people using shirts (hell no) and o-rings. I'd rather buy a new mat than $10 o-rings. Thanks guys!

Hello everyone, (This is my first post, so I hoped I posted this in the right thread) I just wanted to get feedback on a new build that I was planning on getting (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NhKKD8). I originally wanted to get the RX580 but seeing as it is out of stock everywhere along with the RX570, I decided to go with the GTX 1060 3GB. I also plan on maybe getting the Deepcool Captain 240 down the line. I will be running dual monitors with this; however, I do not plan on doing any overclocking. Any feedback on the build is appreciated, thanks! - JJ

Hello friends, I want to share with you guys my experience of changing an old HDD with an SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250GB). First of all, I want to say, after this change, I think the SSD upgrade is one of the best options to speed up your PC or laptop. My laptop has an B980, 4GB ram and now an SSD drive. Samsung's product gave my laptop a great speed up in everyday tasks. like booting time boost, opening apps is instant without any delay. I don't play games on this system, but I code on it. The results are great: programming is a lot faster now. I advise everyone with HDDs to upgrade to an SSD. It will speed your system a lot. Thanks for the atention, and have a nice day!

I've been on here a lot recently and had multiple threads regarding my new build and this is the build I ended up with. I will mainly be gaming and maybe stream or do YouTube later on in the future if my interests change but if I do stream or create content it'll be very little so i'm definitely gonna stick with Intel for now. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gRkXwV I am going to be getting a LINNMON / ALEX table (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49181570/) and have a single monitor with my laptop on the side and I'd like to keep my pc on the table if possible. I have also been looking for a good set of wireless headphones but not too sure what to get and don't want to spend a ton of money on them either. I'm extremely new to all of this stuff, never built a pc what so ever so if anyone has any suggestions let me know right away. Regarding the video card, if there is a better 1080ti option thatd get the same performance I am completely free to change. I've heard a lot about the STRIX but not sure if its worth the extra money. This whole setup will take me some time to build, if it would be a good option to wait a bit for new parts to come out or prices to lower that's completely fine for me. I really don't want this to be a bust and make it not only look fantastic but perform great as well. Sorry i'm all over the place, tried to give as much information as possible. I'm mainly just looking for feedback on the build in general and if there is any tips y'all can give me when it comes to building a pc for beginners i'd love to hear them.

Hi all, this is kinda a copy of my reddit post which didnt get any comments so I thought I'd ask on here. I've had a forum about it before but thought I'd get some more feedback Thanks https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GnsYFd My main goal is to build an insanely nice all around setup. The PC itself will be built for strictly gaming and little to none focusmof things like video production, editing, and streaming. At this point in time I don't play many games because I don't have much to play them on. I'd like to branch out into a variety of games such as PUBG, BF1, CSGO, R6S, and whatever other games come along. **If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? Very high FPS along with great video settings. All around just fantastic gameplay. I want to get the absolute best performance I can. **What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?** My budget is around the 1,500-1,800$ range. Right now I'm at around 1600 and I don't want to change that too much but if I need to that is completely fine. **In what country are you purchasing your parts?** US. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GnsYFd Here is the build I have picked out. **Provide any additional details you wish below.** I'm starting my setup from scratch but have a very strong plan of how I want to do it. I have never built a PC before so it will definitely be a hard process. Regarding my PC build: I was heavily debating between the Ryzen 7 1700 and Intel 7700K. I'd love to stick with the Ryzen because of the simple fact that what I can see from videos and other forums the Ryzen is a better option in general. Yes, game performance is lower which is all I am going for but people tend to talk about how games will be better suited for the Ryzen in the future and it has more potential, I could be completely wrong. I was told that the Ryzen stock cooler will do the job so I didn't bother picking one out because 1) I am not too sure what to get 2) It'll add an additional 100$ to my cost, and 3) It may not even be necessary for me. I would seriously like to stay away from water cooling as I have no experience and don't want to mess anything up. I am completely versatile on this if that makes any sense. I am willing to do whatever I need to to get the best build for me, if anyone has any ideas on what to add or change out please, let me know. I have quite a bit of time to plan this out aswell.

I've been getting a ton of feedback from people on building a new pc and this is the build I came out with hhttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/fGDngL I have no experience with building computers or setups what so ever and I want to make my overall setup as nice as it can be. Since I don't have any experience I was a little worried about cable management or just messing something up in general. I know prebuilts are mostly terrible but I came across this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-desktop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-240gb-solid-state-drive-2tb-hard-drive-black-red/5600310.skuId=5600310 and wanted to see how the two compare. They're around the same price and both have a 1080ti and intel i7 7700K so I figured it might not be a bad prebuilt at all. It would save me the time and I wouldn't have to worry about messing something up when building. I seriously would love to build one just to say I did it but again, I am worried about cable management and messing stuff up. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-desktop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-240gb-solid-state-drive-2tb-hard-drive-black-red/5600310.skuId=5600310 VS https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fGDngL Thanks to everyone who responds and helps out, it means a lot.

Hey guys! New to the forums and also new to PC building. First, some info about myself: I live in Canada Originally, my budget was $1000 CAD. Seeing that my current build is ~200$ over is fine. However, I am trying to lower its cost, if possible, without giving up in performance. My intended use with my PC is for some casual gaming (LOL, Overwatch, Minecraft). I also do some intermediate-level video editing. Usually, I have Spotify, Discord, Skype, one game, and Chrome tabs open. Here is my parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/KY39Z8 Any feedback is welcome! Extras/Explantion: I am going to overclock my CPU I intend to use this PC for a long time (hopefully at least 5 years) without upgrading parts CPU: I chose Ryzen 5 1600 because it's 6 cores, which is apparently good for video editing. It is also more "bang-for-buck" than the 1600x as it also comes with a stock cooler Motherboard: I chose that motherboard because it is the cheapest option that has 4 ram slots and supports overclocking Memory: 16 GBs to be future-proof. 3200 Mhz because I heard RAM speed is important. A friend recommended buying 2400 or 2666 Mhz ram sticks and overclocking to 3200 Mhz. Any insight on this, and is it hard to do? Storage: 1TB HDD + 120GB SSD should do. How are the specific ones I picked? Are they loud? Are there better options for about the same price? Video Card: I heard the 1060 is one of the best budget cards. Also read that the MSI GeForce Gaming X is the best 1060. Is this true? Case: The Cooler Master MasterBox 5 is cheap and I heard it has good cable management. Any better options for around $60 +/- $10 CAD? I'd prefer one with a window. Power Supply: The one I chose is the cheapest 80+ Gold. THANK YOU for taking the time to read through my post and looking at my parts list. I appreciate any feedback and information you provide!

So up until this point i have had nothing but prebuilt Pc's and have finally decided to properly joining the pc master race with my first custom build pc. Now since this is my first pre build a little bit of feedback would be apreciated. So far i see no reason to replace my hard drive since it works and i havent had problems with it that i'm aware of. However i would like to replace pretty much everything else, so far this is what i have come up with. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-Gaming K3, Socket-1151 CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K CPU cooler: CM TX3 Evo CPU Cooler GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Ram: HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2133MHz 2x8GB PSU: Frankly havent decided yet since i'm not 100% on the other components (hence why i'm here) Now keep in mind i don't care much for looks, i'm not gonna be starring at it neither is anyone else likely to do so, so if things aesthetically dosen't fit together i'm not really going to care, i would rather pay a little less and not have the RGB leds. If you think this setup is shit cus i'm an idiot and decide to recommend me something actully good i would like for the parts to be somewhere in the same price range. If anything else is wrong please point it out, i would like to have something that at the very least works once i actually decide to buy and slap everything together. Any and all help is appreciated, thank you.

To the Linus Media Group Team I guess this is a long time listener, first time caller situation. The recent changes to Linus tech tips have made me want to comment and reach out to the LMG team to let them know how they're doing from a long time viewer's perspective First of all I want to congratulate what Linus and his team has achieved over the years, I've been watching LTT for probably around 5 years now and I've seen them progress from random outdoor unboxings to the bookcase set and from the iconic kitchen to the amazing office you guys have built. I'm sure many people on this forum and the millions of viewers you've gathered over the years on you tube appreciate what you have done for the community in terms of inspiring interest in the computer industry, creating entertaining tech related content and being a source of excellent LTT goofs and gaffs. I'm writing this post today because for the first time in my 5 years of watching I feel your team has changed parts of LTT in a way that goes against what I feel is the 'LTT identity', My intention is not to offend anyone who works on the content of the videos, I understand the incredible amount of work that goes into LTT and the fantastic drive your team puts into improving the content everyday. Any forum members who feel the same or have their own opinion are free to comment below, the more perspective we have as a community, the better the direction LTT will go in in the future. Here are the points of change that don't seem to gel with what LTT should be. 1. Thumbnails The idea of refreshing the thumbnails to a new style is an attractive one, however I find that they stand out less than the old huge white text on photo style. The new thumbnails look like they are suited for an 'indie' tech channel, and I feel less compelled to click on them. The biggest problem I have with the new thumbnails is that they're incredibly clickbait-ey and somewhat unpleasing to have show up in my sub feed. Here is an example of a clickbait thumbnail Watching the video you'll see that there was no water involved, Luke wore the lab coat for only 3 seconds of the video for the sake of the thumbnail. and the entire content of the video was just swapping a HDD for an SSD in a laptop. Most of your viewers could see this thumbnail was completely off topic and misleading. Here is an example of an unpleasant thumbnail Now I know this is meant to be some sort of a joke, but do you guys really think your viewers enjoy having images of Linus' crotch with a banana shopped into it popping up on their feed. I fancy myself as a mature person, and I frankly don't want to see such a crude thumbnail like that showing up. I ,however, don't mind if you pop these sort of jokes inside the video. (some of you may argue that theres worse stuff on youtube but we arent comparing LTT to those cancerous channels, we are comparing LTT to what LTT have done great before) I think many of us would prefer if you switched back to the old style of thumbnails, it used to be a case of insta-click when i saw that iconic thumbnail, now I find i'm scrolling past these new videos without realising i'm missing a video from my favorite tech youtuber. 2. Video content The first part of this pointer is in regards to the scripting of the videos, both Linus and Luke feel more like they're reading off a script, which i know they've always done but you can tell the scripts don't feel as natural as they could be. Linus doesnt really speak like himself when he's reading another persons script, and its very obvious when you see how Linus presents at CES vs the scripted office reviews. I find that linus is far more entertaining when he's relying on his natural presenting abilities rather than reading off a prompter and I'm sure other people feel this too due to the demand that linus bring back his old unboxing style or film more seasons of scrapyard wars because there's this charm that linus has when he's freeballing a video and that charm is what we all subscribed for. BTW I've thoroughly enjoy all the CES content this year so and I really appreciate the hard work that goes to covering that show. The second part is the strange content that been posted on LTT. The quality of the content in the video seems unfiltered, videos such the recent DIY Waterproofing video which was a fail was still posted and it just feels like "oh we've already filmed it so we might as well post it" The only real Linus tech tip we got from those videos is to not do what linus does and we all know that already. But on a more serious note, the video wasn't that informative and I feel like I wasted 11 minutes. It would be greatly appreciated if the videos were somewhat curated so the viewers actually get something out of it. This being said, the LTT team is still doing great content, all the CES videos, Weirdest $h!t you bought on amazon, macbook pro review and DIY desk PC are examples of the great content we know and love (they also happen to have more views) My point is that I wish the content would be consistently good and the team would leave out the less than informative videos. Asides from those two points, I think the team is doing a hell of a job. I'm not sure if anyone on the team will actually see this message but hopefully the community agrees and the message gets somewhere. Thank you for reading my post and perspectives, feel free to add your own points.

I am looking to game modern games with as high of settings as possible, as cheaply as possible. The Gtx 1060 can do that very well. I only seek to game at 1080p with one monitor, but I am also going to do some video editing(probably), gameplay recording, and potentially streaming. I would appreciate feedback. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/WhiteoutDota/saved/X7zNGX I have only put in the SSD because I have a 1TB WD Blue at home I will use for this. Is there a different variation of the GPU I should go for, instead of the PNY one? And should I use the PSU selected? I don't need a really big one, and 500 watts is the most I will ever need. The other concern I have is with the motherboard. It is micro ATX. Should I get a full size ATX one, and/or is there a cheaper board I can use for additional savings? Aside from that, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Aim Hi, I am planing a new system, mostly for 4k gaming and some productivity. Budget & Location My budget is, as in the tile, around 1500€. I life in Ausria. Monitors My current monitor stetup are : one 60Hz 3840x2160 display and a 1920x1080 60Hz Displas. Peripherals I have a standart set of mouse, keyboard, speakers. I will also utilise my old storage (M.2 SSD and harddrive) and operationg system Why are you upgrading I noticed, even after checking all my drivers for updates, constant bottlenecking of CPU and GPU in titles as AC origens and other AAA titles. My goal is it to build something that can provide sufficient power for at least 60fps 4k Gaming and up till medium producktivity workloads havent decided on a case jet so i left 100€ish for that. Depending on my needs I will also upgrade the two 8GB sticks of RAM and will buy 2 extra ones My goal is it also to Overclock the cpu and , maybe, the GPU.. Please leave Ideas for Improfments and ignore my, at least 1000 mistakes in writing this post.

Planning first HTPC/Media Center with Raspberry Pi
Gaboris posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello LTT forums! So I got my first NAS with ZyXEL's NAS326 that I've been setting up and messing around with for a while now and am really liking so far. Originally I just planned to use it as a more advanced backup storage than my old HDD connected through a USB dock, but while messing around I kinda ended up uploading all my parent's old movies as a safe keeping method, but after I also connected my mother's smartphone to it so she can watch them anywhere I got the urge to go even further and started looking into a WiFi based HTPC for them to use on their TV. After checking out reviews, guides, benchmarks and my local retail offerings since there are only a few RPi retailers in Hugnary I came up with this setup as a first try. Raspberry Pi 3A+ https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-3-model-a-plus/ It's just as powerful at the 3B+, but I have no "real" use for wired Ethernet or extra USB ports so this compact little thing is more appealing. Also it might be "too much" for just an HTPC/streaming box and maybe a Pi Zero would be enough, but if it doesn't work out in the end I'd want to have the overhead in case I want to use it for something else. The official 3A+ case https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-a-case/ Personally I love this design, but I'm getting it mainly because I can't get anything else that fits the 3A+. The official Pi power brick https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-universal-power-supply/ They say that the Pi 3 is power hungry and might not work off of just any USB plug or adapter and since the fixed EU plug isn't sold separately I have to go with this one. Things that I'm not sure about are: - System compatibility Probably going to install OSMC to run Kodi without the extra hassle of keeping a full distro running or having to mess with keeping things updated, but is there anything that would cause a problem? The lack of the Ethernet port, memory being limited to 512Mb, WiFi not being strong enough to stream off of NAS or it just doesn't support connecting to a LAN NAS out of the box or the likes? - Cooling The case I can get has no ventilation what so ever so even if I got a set of heat sinks they might not help, but if they do are there any meaningful differences between all the sets they sell online? Is there a point to buying one of those single copper blocks compared to a dozen of those aluminium grills they sell in bulks? Same with those flat copper plates that are meant for the chip on the underside of the board. I just don't want it to fry in case my mother wants to re-watch all the seasons of GoT in summer... or just general problems with thermal throttling. - Control I can guess that there are a lot of options for controlling or at least connecting to the Pi, but the ideal thing would be to use a remote. Heck, the shop I'm looking at sells a mini remote with the Pi's own IR sensor, but again the case has no holes for it so I'm kinda bummed out about that. Are there any HDMI passthrough options that could allow the Pi to use the TV as a sensor or something? I know about CEC and our Panasonic actually supports it with Viera Link, but so far I got the impression that that's about the system being able to control other devices and not "detect" the remote through a device. Did I get that wrong? Luckily most things about RPi are quite straight forward by now and after just a few guides and store listings I'm pretty confident I'd be able to set things up, but what I'd be interested in is anyone that has any experience with some of the pitfalls and maybe help with these questions I had. Also I'd just like to have this thread be here in case someone else thinks about doing the same and would like to find people talking about it. I know I would've loved to find something about this before.-

Ever since getting my speakers a few years ago (KRK Rokit 5s), the right speaker has always produced a high pitched noise constantly. It never really bothered me 'cos I usually only ever use them when I'm making or listening to loud music, but the problem was there (and got much worse when playing games or rendering something). Usually I could dial down the problem somewhat by changing the rotation of the jack plugged into my mixer-thing (Alto Professional ZMX862) and the position of the cable, and it would sometimes find a sweet spot. This lead me to believe it was a cable problem, so I switched out the cable for a new XLR to Jack, only to have the same problem - but now a consistently quiet sound that doesn't change, rather than a potentially harsher one that could be dialed back. Curiously, when I run a Cinebench test on my tower, the problem goes away mostly for the duration of the test. Things I've tried: - New Cable - Plugging the right speaker into the left speaker slot (still makes right speaker hiss) - Plugging the right speaker into a new power source - Moving the cable away from other cables to reduce interference - Swapping the cables between left and right speakers - this makes the LEFT speaker hiss instead, but was consistening with BOTH cables, so not a pure cable problem - Swapping which slots the speakers are plugged into on my mixer - right speaker still hisses - Plugging my mixer into a different audio jack on my PC Throughout all this the left speaker stays completely silent - as I would like the right one to as well. I'm starting to worry this is a hardware problem with the right speaker itself, but I don't really have the money to replace it or anything. Could a fix be attempted by myself? Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks! P.S. yes I know I should have sorted this a long time ago when the problem started

So If You Miss The 1 AM BUS & Want To Go Home Youre Kinnda Stuck University Timing Are 8:30 to 4:30 Constructive Critisism And Suggestons Are Welcomed +I Hope I Have Explained The Idea Although Please Do Ask Me If Something Is Not Clear

first time pc First-Time Build PCPartpicker List Feedback
m1key posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello, I have recently been wanting to build my own PC. It would be the first PC I've ever build, so I made a PCPartpicker list for it, and I'm just looking for some feedback on it. I don't need the best specs, just something that can run my games better than my gaming laptop. (?) Link: pcpartpicker list- 6 replies

I just bought a "gaming" PC last evening and the keyboard and mouse leave a lot to be desired as I thought would be the case. I started out gaming on PC's and went to consoles and now I was in need for a good workstation for my business at home so I thought I would get one I could also game on. What I want now though is a good keyboard and mouse that has great tactile feedback as that is what I also most like to type on. I have seen some videos on the channel, but would like some good feedback from those who have bought some items to let me know what you think I should get. Thank you, Steven
