Looking around at the used CPU market - I don't see that many Ryzens' out there. Obviously they're too fresh to be widely available, but just glad people are liking them. At the same time I see open-box ones or barely used ones for ~$100 less than the market price. How possible is that those are fakes? Asking because I've had a chance to get an 1800x for the equivalent of $360 but as my AM4 board is still in processing - didn't have a way to test, so had to give the idea up. Did I screw up - or was my caution warranted?

A Youtuber has made a video on some of the smartphones with fake dual cameras. Instead of actually using both cameras, it only uses 1 of them.

Was surfing ebay for some GTX 1080s as the prices have started to come down on graphics cards this week, but I'm seeing a bunch of listings for around $50-$60 USD!? Can anyone tell me what's going on? Different sellers, all claiming that they're new but some only accepting Paypal payments? What am I missing here? Did a truck of GTXs recently go missing? Some of these sellers have good ratings and several reviews, they seem legit!? [Links removed] There's more than that! What is going on?!

Fake Ryzen CPU have been popping up on Amazon. Two unlucky buyers got the bogus cpus. Amazon have given their refunds as well as a gift card. So be careful of who you're buying these from on Amazon as well as other e-tailers, especially with these 3rd party market places. http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-rma-fraud-on-amazon/

I recently purchased a used Dell T1650 workstation from Electronic bay .com. It was advertised as having a Samsung SSD, however Samsung Magician (their SSD software) fails to recognise the drive. CrystalDiskInfo also showed the serial number as 0s (also visible in screenshot), suggesting that the drive has modded firmware. I am therefore aware that the drive is fake. What should I do? (Yes, I am aware I have it plugged into a SATA3 Port)

So, I bought this Xeon E5 2650 v4 from Amazon (sold & shipped). The only SKU for it that turns up on Google has 2011-v3 socket type associated with it, which is the kind of server board I have for my application. Here's the issue, the processor that I got sent has the right etchings on it, but it's NOT 2011-v3 as can be seen in the attached picture. The sticker at the bottom of the cpu box says "LGA2011V4" on it. The question is, what sorcery is this? And what's LGA2011V4? Thanks.

I work for a company that recycles computers and PC parts. Someone brought these in and saw the stickers on the back labeled "1050ti" and "1060 3gb". I take it these are fakes, or did i find gold? (both have an HDMI VGA and DVI for display outputs)

I bought myself a 1024GB Huawei SD card for £7.90. When it arrived I immediately noticed problems when trying to use it as additional storage and any files copied over were impossible to open. I ran H2testw to check it over several days. Only 32GB of the advertised storage was legit, the rest just doesn't exists. It took ebay stepping in themselves to get me the refund. The seller wanted me to disable my firewall and disable all security settings to test the card, INSTANT red flag! I demanded a return label so I could send it back, they claimed to have tested the card and deemed it as OK and fully functional. This is impossible as the card is still sitting right here with me and I haven't been given a return label. Clearly I made a mistake and should have paid more attention to the warning of buying cheap stuff off ebay. Sorry Linus, I'll do better next time :( I'll post the details of the H2testw results too so I can see and get tips from you all: Warning: Only 1023981 of 1023983 MByte tested. Okay, so here is some backstory. While browsing eBay for some cheap graphics cards, I wondered upon an auction for a fake 750ti. It was clearly a fake card, as even the seller stated in the description that the card was fake, and was in fact a GTX 550ti. My curiosity was peaked, and after thinking for a few minutes, I put in my max bid at £15, and forgot about it. A few days later, I got an email from eBay saying that I had won the auction for £5.60. Pleased with my bargain, I sent the payment, and waited for my purchase to arrive. Now, I must stress that I knew about these cards at the time, and about flashing the bios to make them appear correct, but hadn't read up on the subject. I was under the impression that you could flash the bios of these cards through software, but I now know this isn't true. I would very much like to get this card working as a 550ti but nothing I have read online makes sense to me. This video from PhilsComputerLab explains the process, and provides links to some of the hardware needed (Although these links are now either dead or not being sold anymore), but I cannot figure out how he actually does it. The software for the programmer he uses seems like utter gibberish to me, and how would I get hold of the bios in the first place to flash onto it? Now excuse my ignorance, I still haven't done much reading up on the matter, but I suppose if somebody has the knowledge and can give me some insight on here, then it saves me scrolling through web pages wondering if what I am viewing is the right thing. I need to know some simple things. What hardware do I need? What software do I need for the programmer, and how do I use it? What bios do I need? Is there anything else I am missing? If someone could give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! If you have any questions please ask.

Hi , I've found these DDR3 "HyperX" sticks on eBay , thought like "ok they seem legit" and then I've found that they sold HyperX heatsinks for RAM on Amazon for like 3 bucks the unit. Now that I've thought, they are obviously fake and it's just some cheapo chinese DDR3 with fake HyperX heatsinks (they've also slapped on fake stickers) Now, I'm just asking if this is reliable enough to use it in my PC. If not, where can I find reliable RAM nearing this price (or a little bit more , want to buy 30€ max for one 8GB stick) Again , I apologize for my bad english , I'm French. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/For-8GB-Kingston-HyperX-PC3-12800-DDR3-1600MHz-240Pin-CL11-DIMM-Desktop-Memory/183082131560?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D7b25379cad7b430387a3df0d02aadac5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D223581697042%26itm%3D183082131560%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Hi all ! I've been reading some topics here about fake gpus, saw Linus video (with Phil's computers lab one among others) and decided to try by myself ! The deal was okay-ish (for where I live) The description was clear with all the corresponding data (obviously from another source) and the picture is legit (for what I received not for the actual GPU...) But for science I decided to go through (and paid with an insurance on my card on Aliexpress... Even though I have never used it before.) Here is the GT1030 that has no marking ?? I don't even know what that is ... It looks like some GT450 but some things are misplaced (fan connector, the 1r0 on the right ...) The yellow DVI connector made me think about Zotac but I thought it would have been written somewhere ? So maybe an oem card ? So I thought about asking for help with this game ! The winner will obtain game and glory among all the Linus forum And btw it's also to Inform you not to buy this GT1030 on Aliexpress... Have a nice day !

Recently I bought a new motherboard ga-h61m s2v b3 because h61m s was not in stock. When i brought the pc and started it, there was a boot logo of sungju computers instead of gigabyte. I asked the seller, he said it was japan unit but i will still get warranty if anything happened. But i suspect that it is a refurbished or repaid mobo but it looks brand new. Should i get it replaced or go with it..... Guys reply fast.....

so for my build i have been looking for the best value gpu as i have a low budget and here’s a trick to telling apart the fake chinese gpus from the real ones so first you need to find the gpu you want and search i am trying for a gtx 1060 when you find the card you need to go to the description and look for core frequency and memory frequency. you then search the memory or core frequency and it will come up with the card it actually is. hope this helps thx for reading this

I visited this website https://www.dell.com/en-uk on the support page they listed this number Free phone 0800 085 4961 but when I called the person that picked my phone had no clue what my order was and even I told him my order he said he didn't accept PayPal as a payment method which highly suspicious. I want to know did I screw up and give my personal details to a scammer? please help I don't know what I just did?

I'm building my first pc and ordered a Kingston SA400S37 (240 gb) SSD online from a chinese seller (silly me) . Upon reading the recently added reviews for the item I got a but apprehensive because of people saying it was fake (only the recent ones hence why I was complacent in buying it) and I won't be able to use and verify it with my build for at least a few weeks. I plugged the SSD into my old laptop (Model: LG LGC50) [note: laptop can only boot to BIOS cause it died a while back] to see if it would be detected in the BIOS but it didn't. Are there other ways I could verify if I could use the SSD or is it safe to assume that I've got a counterfeit or did I miss something else such as a BIOS update?

Hello, On my second Windows 7 PC I can easily create a dummy display by adding one manually via control panel (And I can broadcast it using something like TW or realvnc to my win 7 laptop). Now, I need the same option on my main Windows 10 machine, but old trick does not work anymore in Windows 10. Is there any other software solution to create a dummy display under Windows 10 or (I would prefer to avoid it) to convert an ubuntu system into wireless display, sort of miracast receiver (i can run ubuntu on my laptop from usb-stick)?

Intro I was looking for a high capacity powerbank 30000+ mAh, I realised that all powerbanks from reputable companys (anker, ...) all max out at ~25000 mAh. Looking at less reputable sellers I found some large powerbanks for a super low price. However, looking at the advertising for them, it advertises a low amount of charges, wich would equal more or less 10000-25000 mAh. List I found these powerbanks that looked (partially) legit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0897HHRR3 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000574931415.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000958856013.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001143233173.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001139059008.html Help needed I have no experience buying powerbanks, I am looking for someone who went trough this already or someone who knows about this. ps: I need this powerbank for camping about 10 days, with multiple poeple. There are no poweroutlets nearby. Conclusion I put this here so you don't have to look trough all the comments. Why the ~25000 mAh limit? - Airplane travel limits. Are these real? - Some of them, the romoss one is legit but should be bought from a more reputable store. What should you buy? - Below I made a little list A - Portable generator - Large groups using multiple recharable devices. - 500+W - Requires Fuel Source - 150+€ B - Portable solar panel - Medium group using recharable devices. - 16-28W per array - Requires Sunlight - 30-100€ C - Large power bank - Small group using recharable devices. - ~18W 40000mAh - Requires charge before use - 30-150€ D - Medium power bank - Small group using recharable devices travelling airborne. - ~20W ~26000mAh - Requires charge before use - 30-60€ What is your profile picture? - It's a cat, and the round thing is the nose, I used to draw this all the time in my textbooks, it's real easy to draw. Huge thanks to Moonzy & Origami Cactus for answering!
