I want to fully reset my PC because I ran into a problem that I couldn't find an answer too. I reset my PC by using both options it gave me which were "Fully clean this drive" and "Just delete the files" or something i don't remember. Usually it gets pretty close to 100% and then it just says "There was a problem resetting this pc". or "There was a problem resetting this pc. No changes were made." I did a chkdsk and since it finished right when I typed it in I figured that everything on my hard drive was wiped. It's not letting me reset it at all. Also, yes i'm still going to use this pc personally it's just it has run into so many problems I or others can't fix. It's been really frustrating.

So I have a Asus Q501LA laptop that originally came with Windows 8. Since Windows 8 is basically a dumpster fire, I downgraded to Windows 7. I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 for 2 days with no success at all. Every time I get error c1900101 20017 and boots me back into Windows 7 and also DEACTIVATES it! I've tried the regular upgrade, the media tool, and using the iso from the official media tool. I know it isn't the iso because I've used the same usb to upgrade 3 other machines in my house. I've read in various places that this error is caused by bios settings but I if I load optimized defaults in my bios it won't boot to Windows 7 because it turns off Lauch CSM. I don't see any settings for 'UEFI only' which people are suggesting I turn on, so I can't do anything in that regard. I don't want to clean install either because then it won't be activated. I should also mention that I've upgraded the drive in my computer to an SSD as well. So I'm stuck, can anyone help? These are the only lines in my Setuperr.log: 2015-08-01 13:46:56, Error [0x08085f] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: LoadLibraryExW(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ReplacementManifests\Microsoft-Windows-RasServer-MigPlugin\RasMigPlugin.dll, LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH) failed gle=0x7f.[gle=0x0000007f] 2015-08-01 13:46:56, Error [0x080863] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::COMGenericThreadingHostThreadProc: LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext() failed hr=0x8007007f.[gle=0x0000007f]

So i just reinstalled win10 (which failed but thats not important right now), and before doing that i disconnected all my HDD's so they wouldn't get in the way of the installation (happened before). I have 7 HDD's connected and while reconnecting them after the install i connected the wrong cable to the wrong drive. To be clear here, i have 3 WD blacks in raid-0 and 3 1TB raptors in raid-0 all connected to 1 controller on my mobo (x99 deluxe). Next to that i have 1 WD black, to store some crap, which is connected to a different controller on the x99. I switched 1 raptor with the sepperate black by accident. Then the x99 decided to just kick the raptor out of the raid-0 array completely and make the array FAIL.... now the drive thats kicked out is working 100% but is showing up as a non-raid drive. My question is simple, how can i recreate the array or put the drive back in without losing data. There is crap on that thats not been backed up yet that i REALLY need.... is there any way?

Hello I have lenovo g505s laptop, amd apu a8 4500m procesor with HD 7640g integrated Radeon HD 8570m 8gb Kingston hyperX, dual chanell. I have problems setting windows. It was running windows 8.1 for few months and I wanted to upgrade to tehnical prewiew (think i did on desktop long ago), and after install (fresh since it didnt wanted to upgrade) 1st time it rebooted I was geting error asking me to restore to previus version but not leting me (becose there is no admin account?). I tryed booting that hard in destop and I passed error, but back in laptop after windows logo i was geting nothing beside black screen. so I decided to return to 8.1, and after Installing it there is no way to make wi-fi work (drivers from cd, drivers from internet, I tryed them all, checking air plane mode, in bios..). Reinstalled 8.1 yet again and still same. So I formated disk, and Run another windows 10 install and here I am getting the wifi (out of box,no driver needed), But now I cant install graphic driver. I tryed from cd, from autodetect, manually selecting it on amd site, I am only getting "Failed to load detection driver " and 1st time windows 10 was booted I could get driver running. Does anybody know how to fix this, i never tryed harder to install any OS in my life, mac on amd was peace of cake for windows on this pc, Just cant get all drivers working. Thanks

hello guys, i'm setting up a dell r520 server with 6 intel s2500 (600GB) ssd's but when i use a ssd in bay 1 the array will fail. i've already swapped the drive with another one but the issue keeps existing, but when i put the same drive in bay 6 it will work just fine. does anyone know if this is a (known) issue with the perc710 controller or if it can be fixed with a firmware update? (i'll check if there's an update available) EDIT: i've got the latest firmware (21.1.0-0007) cheers, simon

Recently my windows 8 computer broke down. It said it needed to be repaired but when i tried do so it didnt work and stayed on "diagnosing our pc" for ever. After exhausting all options (restoring to before windows updates and using command promt to restore) i gave up and did a clean install on windows 8. After that my computer seemed to be ok, i spent the day setting up the computer and playing some games. Then when i went to bed i shut down my computer and then in the morning I boot it up and all of a sudden, Has my SSD died?

mount -o ro /dev/ufs/FreeNASs3 /conf/default/etc failed: dropping into /bin/sh That is the error I am constantly getting when I try to install from USB flash drive. I don't understand this at all! I tried setting the IDE controller to bypass on my Dell E310. It has 2 gigs of ram and a pentium 4 clocked at 2.8Ghz. I tried to do some research, but I'm not finding the solution I need! Please help me with my goal of jumping ship with windows.

Hey guys, Recently I was dusting out the fans on my PC, very lightly with a wooden paintbrush, just generally tidying it up after 4 months of use of my PC, I may have knocked a stick of ram softly with the handle but that's about it. However, after I had finished and I tried to turn my PC on and the motherboard usually has a cycle of displaying 'PNY GTX760' and the general specs, then it goes onto the ASUS screen for a second or so, then loads Windows 8. Yesterday however, it went onto an 'American Megatrends' screen i've never seen before and an 'Overclocking failed' message came up; I know my Motherboard, CPU and GPU are possible to overclock but I haven't tried it just yet. The PC then went into a loop of turning off and on, off and on, until it chucked me into the BIOS and I thought i'd try out resetting to defaults, so I did and tried it, and it worked; however i usually use the 'High Performance' setting in the ASUS BIOS, and this was running on normal... Could this be a problem with any hardware (RAM, Motherboard etc) and could it hinder me when i come to overclock the PC? Thanks for your time. Rhys Edit: I have not noticed any drop in performance whilst playing things like GRID2 on Ultra and 1080p settings with screen recording.

Yesterday my lenovo laptop blue screened and shutdown, when I rebooted it this error came up "default boot device missing or failed. Insert recovery media and hit any key. Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media" after pressing ok the laptop says boot manager failed and shuts down. I currently don't have a boot disk but it still seems odd the the boot manager failed, if anyone knows why this is happening could you please help I can access the BIOS but not the F8 boot options.

Hello all, I'm having quite the issue trying to get windows 8 installed on my computer. Currently, I'm running an in-genuine version of Windows 7, but I'm trying to be good, and upgrading. Every time though, it gets to 100%, then says "Windows 8 installation failed." I currently have Windows 7 Home premium installed, Trying to install Windows 8 Pro (got it through college store) I have 60GB free on my SSD. I've tried telling it to keep files, and to keep nothing, same results. I've attempted rebooting before I tried, still nothing. I've cleared temp files, no luck. I'm out of ideas, and google is no longer helping! Help please!

I've been using an MSI 760 in my rig for close to 6 months and now I believe the card has failed. I did a fresh install of 8.1 and tried it on my pcie 16 and 8 slots, neither will detect the card. I will be testing it on a friend's rig soon. However, I plugged in a wireless adapter (x1 slot usually) to my pcie x16 slot to check if it was working... and my system wont boot when the adapter is in this slot (fans spin up but no BIOS and then it shuts off, and repeats this). My system will boot if the adapter is in any of the other slots. Is there a way to test the pcie slot other than with hardware? I'm thinking this is why my 760 failed. Thanks

Hey guys, having a really weird problem here... Going to post my system specs first. Built in October of 2011: Case: HAF 932 with 2 intake, 2 exhaust fans (stock) Motherboard: Sabertooth 990FX Rev. 1.0 RAM: 8gb (2x4gb) Corsair Vengeance CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition OC'd to 4.0Ghz (3.2Ghz Stock) CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO Push/Pull config with additional CM Fan GPU: Originally Galaxy GTX 560Ti 1GB OC Edition. After that a GeForce 210 (just to test with) PSU: OCZ 700Watt Semi-Modular HDD: 750gb WD My Galaxy GTX 560Ti randomly failed about 2 weeks ago... Looks like a resistor failed near where the power transistors are close to the PCI-E power plug... So I thought maybe it was just because the card was close to 3 years old (Galaxy wouldn't honor the warranty because the PCB got burnt a little...) (mind you I always work on my electronics in an environment that's as static free as possible, with an anti-static wrist band) I grabbed a cheap card to test with (GeForce 210)... Threw it in after clearing CMOS for like 5 minutes, and the computer booted up just fine, signal to monitor and was able to get into the BIOS, then boot into the OS. Cool, seems like everything is working fine. 2 weeks go by, In this time I have run some stress tests on my system with Prime95 and AIDA64, everything seemed cool ran for ~1 hour with no problems. Suddendly the other day, I come to turn my computer on... I had the switch on the PSU off because we were having some lightning storms here in florida, even though I have it connected through a battery backed up surge protector, and the computer took 5 seconds after hitting the power switch to turn on.. Would not post, stuck at the first LED that the system usually turns on with was the CPU LED. (it usually goes CPU, RAM, VGA then Boot Device as far as LED's in the boot process) Had to turn it off manually with the PSU switch as the case power switch was not doing anything (Even after holding it), tried again, this time more than 10 seconds to start, and stuck at the same point. At this point I turned the system off did a quick check to see if anything was shorting out or what not, everything seemed fine, gave it one last try after resetting CMOS again and now It will not power on at all, only the green LED turns on on the motherboard when I flip the PSU on. Seems to be the PSU is going bad? or the Mobo? I have tried to isolate the system as much as I can but I don't have an extra mobo or PSU to test... Going back to the GTX560Ti failing in the first place i'm getting the feeling that the PSU was the culprit. Any input would be nice, also I am going to grab a PSU tester from Tigerdirect tomorrow and try to hopefully eliminate that as a possible cause. Sorry for the lengthy post .

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice. I built a completely new rig for myself around 16 months ago and the only real problem I have had (up until now) was an assumed power surge that fried the on-board sound on the MoBo necessitating me adding a sound card. My Build: Case - Corsair Carbide 500R MoBo - Asus Maximus V GENE Z77 CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K Memory - 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 GPU - EVGA GTX 670 2GB PSU - Corsair TX750 Cooling - Arctic I30 SSD - Crucial M4 128GB (Running OS) HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB Sound Card - Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 Optical Drive - Pioneer DVDRW OS - Windows 7 Premium --------------------------------- The Problem: A week ago I decided to undertake some much needed cable management (something I had neglected since I first built the rig). I took all the necessary precautions (that i am aware of) - unplugged all peripherals, turned off and unplugged power supply, worked with an anti static wrist strap (I must admit that I did forget on occasion that I had unclipped the wire). I unplugged everything from the MoBo other than the CPU and Cooler, gave everything a quick blast with an air duster, organized and routed the cables properly and then plugged everything back in. Everything seemed to be working fine, the computer booted as it should. Then, a couple of days ago, I went to open a program I have saved to the HDD but instead of popping open I got a message saying that the drive where this program is saved wasn't attached. I went to 'My Computer' and sure enough the only drive showing was the SSD. I figured there must be a loose connection somewhere, so I booted down and proceeded to open up the case and make sure everything was secure and where it should be. After I decided all was as okay I booted back up but this time...nothing. The motherboard BIOS screen flashed past as normal but that was followed by a black screen telling me to plug in a drive and then hit enter. So at this point it seems the MoBo is not recognising the HDD or the SSD. --------------------------------- What I Have Tried: To begin with I started uplugging the sata and power cables and then refitting them, all just to double check that I hadn't left anything loose. No fix. I went into the Boot menu in BIOS and all that was showing was the optical drive. The SATA config menu in BIOS showed no devices present. I then got online with my old computer and started to google my problems but found no threads dealing with the specific issues I am experiencing. I then did some cross testing. I took the HDD from my old PC and attached it to my new PC using the New Sata cables and I got my new PC to successfully boot albeit Windows Vista wanted to go through a start-up repair. I took the SSD from my new PC and plugged it into my old PC. Old PC would not boot and asked for a drive to be inserted. BIOS showed no drives attached. I took the HDD from my new PC (no OS installed) and plugged that into my old PC. No boot and the BIOS again showed no drives attached. --------------------------------- This has all left me scratching my head. If it is the drives that have failed what are the chances that both the SSD and HDD would kick the bucket at near enough the same time? What would cause the drives to fail in the first place? Have I completely missed an obvious step? Thank you for taking the time to read and for any help you may be able to offer. Please accept my apologies for a lengthy post but I felt it best to supply as much info as possible. Jack

Okay, so I have had this H100i for about 3 months. The first one I had for maybe 2. My first one needed to be RMA'd after the bugged firmware bricked it as I tried to update it to fix THIS EXACT PROBLEM. The LED's have burn't out on the 2 H100i's I have owned, I really don't want to RMA this one, as it is time consuming and too much hassle. So does anyone have a fix for it? All I have are green LED's the blue and red have gone completely. Things I have tried: Reinstalling Link Resetting profiles Unplugging it all I don't want to try firmware again, just in case... What type of cheap crap LED's did corsair put in this thing? there are many other people with burn't out H100i's out there, and this is my second, unless it's a software fix... So yeah, if anyone has a fix, would be much appreciated.

While this relates to Windows 10 idk if it should go here or in the Windows 10 section Ok, so I have this old laptop that I most likely won't upgrade for a while. I enjoy the massive port selection and docking among many other things. Anyway, currently it is stuck on 1809. EVERY FUCKING DAY without fail windows tell me there is important updates that need to be installed and only gives me the option to restart now, restart tonight, or schedule a restart. I have to keep scheduling a restart and then just turning off the schedule everyday. If that wasn't annoying enough, recently it has decided TO REMOVE THE GOD DAMN SCHEDULE button! So I literally can't do shit, I can restart now or have it restart later that night. Now you might say 'well than just update it' that's where the problem is, every time it tries to apply the update the same shit happens: it restarts some time i'm not there without my knowledge does some shit that I never see I come back and all the screens are black The only thing I can do is press the power button, once I press it it immediately turns off (no holding the button, no shutdown screen) I turn it back on and wait another 20-30 minutes just for it reboot AGAIN and then tell me 'there was a problem installing updates' like NO SHIT, maybe if the update didn't work the first 4 FUCKING TIMES you tried it probably isn't going to work the 5th time... I have nothing but problems like this with windows 10, I have never been able to keep a single windows install for a year or longer, every few months I need to reinstall it (and I guess i'm going to have to re-install it AGAIN). And for everyone who always comes back with the argument that it's the eGPU, or it's insert some other jank thing I have with my setup I have problems on every device, my mom's perfectly normal Toshiba satellite will constantly lock files and you have to go into properties and unlock the file. It also doesn't think half the built in apps are installed, photos (the windows media viewer app) doesn't open on hers even though it's all updated and everything. My old normal desktop (FX-4350 w/ GTX 960) had just as many problems, it's not because of the eGPU it's because windows 10 is fucking awful. Even before that, my old toshiba satellite had several problems as well....
