So long story short I was browsing on Facebook and came across an old account of mine which was created back in 2014/15 don't exactly remember, before that, I don't even remember this account existed. Now that this account has no use I decided to delete it but I don't remember the password or the phone number that was used, so I clicked on "forgotten password" and tried my phone number when that didn't work I tried phone numbers of all the family member still nothin I tried emails too but couldn't find a way to log back into that account. Does anyone how I can delete the account without having direct access to it?

Do you guys still use Facebook messenger? if so im so confused on something (messenger is still widely used in my area) So i have pinned messages with this specific person that i would like to remove, but something is weird i could not find the unpin button, its just not there. You might say that update my app, but it happens on both browser messenger and iOS messenger (yes the app is up to date) and also its only specific to this person. My other contacts still has the pin/unpin buttons. Anyone knows why is this happening? Am I blocked or something? The type area for the text is still there though and i dont see a "you cannot reply to this conversation" prompt. any ideas?

Summary Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) launched action against Meta (Facebook), with the court ordering its subsidiaries pay $20.4 million dollars AUD* (included court costs) for misleading advertising of its VPN security application Onavo Protect, which was advertised to "keep your data safe" but was in fact scraping user data to form aggregated data that was sent to Meta for commercial use. * $14 Million dollars USD. Quotes My thoughts Yay! Facebook admitted it did something wrong... while their spokesman claims all their problems are in the past while ignoring they still have a Cambridge Analytica case still pending in Australia. The most disappointing thing is the last quote from the Judge that she thinks $20.4 million dollars (AUD) is enough of a "sufficient sting"... the same day Meta reported a $32 billion dollar in revenue this year, a 11% rise in revenue, and earned them a 7% surge in its share price in trading. Like $145 billion dollar maximum would of stung and woke up most of silicon valley to immediately review every advert, EULA,TOS, privacy policy and then promptly make them to just delete all the data they scraped from Australia in the last 20 years out of fear. It was a missed opportunity to sting them harder to get a positive change out of the industry. I just noticed a serious privacy issue with Facebook. When just viewing someone profile on Android app it's automatically sent requests to them. At first I thought it was a human error then I couldn't locate the "friend request" or the message to cancel it. Other users on reddit have reported the issue. Now I have all these unsavoury friend suggestions. Check your Facebook hasn't been affected, hope this information helps. Sorry if this is an already known topic (I couldn't find it on here). Since beginning of this year I noticed that Steam/Valve or rather PayPal forces you to accept the Facebook Data Policy by receiving the receipts in their messenger when purchasing games (pictures further down). At first I tought this was maybe a mishap on behalf of PayPal or Valve and canceled the transaction to repeat the purchase, this time without the prompt to accept the policy of Facebook. To clarify, I have no Facebook account because of privacy concerns (big news, huh?). Today I noticed unfortunately, that this behaviour is still present as of writing this post. Also it seems that I am not the only one getting these prompts when using PayPal as my payment provider as there are already these community threads on Steam and Reddit: Steam-Commuity-Thread by Nelly (dated March 7th, 2023) - LINK Steam Thread Reddit-Thread by u/HELPMEIMBOODLING (dated February 18th, 2023) - LINK Reddit Thread Within the Steam-Thread it was recommended to unlink your PayPal-account from any Facebook-account but the users in the Thread and myself were not able to find any linked FB-accounts within our PayPal. As a workaround it was recommended to try to purchase without storing the payment information to avoid this perticular pop-up, which does not seem to ask for Facebooks permissions. Another would be to not use the Steam-Client but a ordinary browser to process the payment within steam. I have tried several checkout options myself and have following results with attached screenshots: (please note that some screenshots may have been edited to hide sensitive information and to consolidate scrollable content from paypal for better format): Checkout using PayPal (not the "My PayPal" selection in Steam), like I would buy first time via PayPal on Steam and choosing to save the payment-information (checkmark before heading to PayPal). Paypal then asks you to accept Facebooks Data Policy without any visible other option except cancelation of the purchasing process: Checkout using PayPal, exactly the same as above without restarting steam. This time PayPal doesn't seem to ask for any permissions for Facebook. I assume this process differs a bit as the Steam-Client already has my PayPal-Login cached locally which also resulted in me only needing to reauthenticate my MFA: Completely restarting the Steam-Client and repeating the process as described results in first case, again asking to agree to Facebook's Data Policy. Checkout using PayPal (not the "My PayPal" selection in Steam), like I would buy first time via PayPal on Steam and choosing NOT to save the payment-information (no checkmark before heading to PayPal). This time we get a different PayPal-dialog (similar to any single-purchase process where you only consent for a single transaction) where no agreeing to any policy from Facebook is requested: I wasn't able to get in touch with any party (Valve or Facebook) yet but wanted to ask you first if you had any similar experience? Greetings from germany, Cheers! ~Palte

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day. I'm having a wonderful time playing tech support for my mom, who is 80 years old and uses Facebook to post simple memes that aren't offensive in any way and to say good morning to people that she is friends with, along with using her Facebook portal to video chat with her niece and her great nephew. A few days ago, at night, all of a sudden her Facebook Portal asked her to connect to her account. I'm like, okay I can do that, so I go to log her in and her account was locked for breaking terms of service. I'm sitting there scratching my head and saying to myself "This can't be right, I know my mom hasn't done anything wrong. At this point I get on her phone and login to her Facebook to the message again "This account has broken terms of service, you have 180 days to appeal the decision". After talking to my mom and taking her picture, I uploaded it and decided it would be fixed soon. Before I know it my mom is chatting with them on Facebook and trying to get her account unlocked by chatting with them. Later that night, her account came back and everything was just fine, or so I thought. Fast forward to the next day, right after chatting with her niece and great nephew on the portal, the connect to Facebook appears on the Facebook Portal screen once again. At this point, my mom decided that she wanted to throw her phone out the front door. She was so upset, and rightly so, for she had done nothing wrong. At this point, I'm thinking, something has to be wrong with the Facebook Portal, maybe some security issue I haven't heard about. After some research, I came up empty. I tried to go to Facebook's support website and try to find a way to chat with Facebook but found none. You just have to fill out the forms and hope that the support team sorts it out. Fast forward to earlier today, her account was restored again, up until a few minutes ago. I hear my mom yell, BRANDON!!!!! and I'm like, what now? So we are sitting here, just waiting for a reply from Facebook, not knowing why her account received a ban, nor receiving an e-mail about it today. (I had to get her old e-mail account unlocked so I could receive e-mails, but that is a story for another time( I did manage to get her e-mail restored, thanks Spectrum support team)). I'm just wondering, has anyone else been through the nightmare that is Facebook tech support? Has anyone else had this issue where their account gets locked and they can't get it back till it gets unlocked by the support team without any reason as to why? To be honest, I love to see a Linus Tech Tips video covering this subject, I bet it would make for a great watch. I look forward to seeing the replies on this topic. I hope you all have had a great time reading. Later everyone, Brandon Dalton P.S. Now the portal is a giant brick, because my Mom can't use her account (unless you factory reset it and use a different account)

UPDATE: Thankfully I'm a pack rat and I found an old Huawei phone from three upgrades ago that had my authenticator app setup. I'm back in but still not impressed with the whole ordeal and technically this is still an issue for many others. I apologize for the bait-clicky title but I need eyes on this from any of you who can help or may have contacts at the right people at Meta/Facebook who can resolve this issue. TLDR: A factory reset on my phone caused me to lose access to my Google Authenticator 2FA. You can not recover your authenticator codes because they are not tied to your Google Account, they are tied to the device (which now no longer exists due to factory reset). While I was able to restore and set up new Authenticator codes for all other websites and apps, Facebook's recovery process is bugged and there is no way to recover my account. This has caused me to lose access to my 16-year personal FB account as well as Facebook Ads management on the several businesses I oversee and manage. FB self-help articles, troubleshooting, and even FB Business Meta Pro team have been unable to resolve my issue. The ASK: I need to contact a real person from Facebook login team who can Identify my identity and remove my 2FA authentication from my account so that I can restore it. Hopefully, this can also serve as a PSA to anyone out there who either loses their phone or doesn't transfer their Google Authenticator data to a new device At this point I'm reaching out to the community in the odd chance that some of you know someone at Facebook in the Login/security team who can help. Or maybe the team @LinusTech can shed some light on this glaring issue. I can't be the only person who's ever lost access to their Google 2FA EDIT: SO F**** Ironic, YESTERDAY April 24th Google annoucned that Google Authenticator is finally adding account syncing for 2FA Codes. This still sadly doesn't help me resolve my issue today. Details Personal account of 16 years: https://www.facebook.com/xXHappyJonXx/ This account has Facebook 2FA as well as SMS and email verification setup. This account also manages the following business accounts and pages: https://www.facebook.com/HPAMotorsports - Currently has Ads running, Our company's Customer service ticketing program is also tied to the FB Messenger chat which needs to be reauthorized. https://www.facebook.com/cotybuilt https://www.facebook.com/GoVADpro https://www.facebook.com/www.moosh.media - My personal Freelance business https://www.facebook.com/LUSAsoccer - The local non-profit community club As you can see, there's a lot of history, data, time, and money tied up to this personal account and I have essentially been locked out of my personal data. The Cause Of The Issue I brought my phone to a Samsung service centre to get my screen fixed. I anticipated needing to factory reset my phone so I did a cloud backup at the time to save my data. What I failed to do was transfer my Google Authenticator app to another device. While I was able to restore my other Google Authenticator accounts using other methods of identificationSMS/email etc. Facebook's account recovery codes via SMS and email only allow you to reset your password. If you have 2FA enabled, it still asks for the 2FA code, even if you have access to your email and phone number. See below. View Full Size Image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q3-UmtYXXsXscjDfz80hJFhD4orMr4Zg/view?usp=share_link On PC Full size image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K0k7qww-mFqtgibCztkl2qVjJS8Tiltc/view?usp=share_link I have tried every article to recover my account but all of those lead to setting up a new password. It does not remove your 2FA access so logging in with a new password just presents you with the request for a code as you see above. In my efforts to troubleshoot I have also tried "My Account is Hacked" to see if I can re-secure my account. The closest I got was to This page here where you are asked to provide a different email than the one tied to your facebook account to secure it. I provided the email, got a security code to input, and I was greeting with this fantasitc /s page: I've seen other's people online have options to upload an ID at this point to provide identity confirmation, however for me, i have NO OPTIONS to choose from. I have reached out to our Meta Pro Team that handles the advertising where I was actually able to speak to someone on the phone. They said they would "open a case" and get back to me in 48-72 hours. I never heard back. I've tried multiple times again via email explaining everything above and I keep getting the same responses. At this point I'm reaching out to the community in the odd chance that some of you know someone at Facebook in the Login/security team who can help. Or maybe the team @LinusTech can shed some light on this glaring issue. I can't be the only person who's ever lost access to their Google 2FA

I took an old system I had around and put a few parts from my big box of parts in it to try to sell it and declutter. Does this seem like an effective listing and a reasonable price? I listed it on fb and craig's. Listing is as follows: Title: Gaming PC w/ RX 6600, i7 3770, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, WiFi, Good PSU - $400 I've had this tower since it was new but decided to put a few better components that I had on hand in it and sell it. Some of the components I bought new to finish it off. Components: CPU: i7 3770 (4 cores 8 threads) GPU: RX 6600 (8GB GDDR6 VRAM) (Used for 8 months on another system with excellent airflow) RAM: 16GB (2x8, DDR3 1600MHz) (New) SSD: 500GB SATA 3D VNAND (New) HDD: 500GB 3.5in 7200RPM DVD R/W: lol yes it has one and it is automatic with a hinged door to hide it nicely. Wireless: Onboard Wifi PSU: 750w DeepCool DQ750 V2 80+ Gold, Fully Modular (New) The RX 6600 is as fast in most games as a GTX 1080, (faster in newer games) and uses half the power. It's a little faster than the RTX 3060 but slower than the RTX 3060ti for reference. The heatsink says AMD on it because I swapped out the fan on the CPU heat sink with one from a Wraith Spire to give it a little extra air and be quieter (the fan on that cooler is made by CoolerMaster). The screw holes were in the same spots so it fits perfectly. I've also installed an extra 140mm corsair fan onto the side ventilation to get some extra cold air in and give the system positive air pressure (good for temps and dust). The power supply is brand new and fully modular and I have all of the extra cables for it. It's a really good power supply, way overkill for this system. I just needed a PSU for this system and had a sweet promo code for it. I've installed Windows 11 Home on it and fully activated it. The Windows key is still on a sticker on the case. 125-140 fps average at 3440x1440p in Overwatch 2 online matches at Epic settings. These are the pics I included with the listing.

If BJP's Amit Malviya Reports Your Post, Instagram Will Take it Down – No Questions Asked Summary Seven posts by satirical account @cringearchivist were removed without any verification because the head of the BJP's IT Cell falls under Meta's controversial 'XCheck' programme. Quotes My thoughts Meta is now colluding with the Ruling Right-wing party in India and removing posts flagged by the party's IT Cell chief (a non-government post ). The ruling party runs an army of bots on social media to spread fake news and hate against the minorities, while any posts critical of them is flagged and taken down citing bizarre reasons with the help of these shameless corporations who just want to keep the Rulers happy and get their share of this huge market without any introspection. I would also like to point out that Twitter has gone to court against some takedown orders by the Indian Government. Seems like atleast someone's batting for Free Speech. Summary "Population One" is a popular VR battle royale game Facebook acquired in 2021, it could be played on the company's Quest 1 headset without additional hardware. With the release of the newer (and more expensive) Quest 2 headset, Facebook has announced that "Population One" players will no longer be able to play the game on the Quest 1. Players will still be able to play "Population One" on the Quest 1 headset if paired with a VR PC. Facebook has offered a conditional six month refound window. (the game is about two years old). Quotes My thoughts Facebook wants to build a Metaverse. While the metaverse is a nebolous concept, at the minimum a Metaverse should be cross compatible with a vast catalogue of first and third party applications and hardware to be called such. Zuckenberg already went on record expecting the metaverse bet to take at least until 2030 to pay off. It should be clear to everyone involved that the Metaverse is a bottomless money pit to achieve critical mass. Yet, Facebook isn't even committed to maintain first party support to a first party (more expensive) hardware upgrade, nor is willing to offer a cheaper upgrade to the Quest 2 for "Population One" players. It's going to be hard for Facebook to promote adoption of its metaverse while at the same time monetizing those very same early adopters. It's very much the same story with Facebook company scrips the Diem/Libra cryptocurrency that Facebook was planning to use inside its metaverse. I think Facebook vision is too short term for them to achieve the Mertaverse. Projects that put monetization ahead of adoption don't do so well, it's usually the reverse, with companies monetizing a product after it achieved adoption. Summary A Bengaluru-based bakery named FaceBake has received a restraining order and a Rs 50.000 fine from Facebook. Quotes My thoughts I don’t know how to feel about this. On the one hand, yeah Facebook needs to keep their copyright. But to also go after a small bakery and fine them, I don’t know. EDIT: After doing more research, (reading the comments) I can comfirm how I feel now. Facebook is in the right. That bakery is copying Facebook so much in design, it’s kinda funny. But, it’s still infringement, so yeah, $630 is too little. Sources qz.com

I don't use social media, but I needed a facebook account to sign into a something a while ago so I made one. I never posted on it and since Facebook thinks that its a bot if you don't post, it got banned. I went to appeal, it got denied. I can't make another facebook account, and even if i did, i wouldn't use it for anything other than my oculus and it would probably get banned and that might make me lose my oculus account. How do i get around this?

This has been concerning me big time. For the last week I have been getting daily account recovery codes from facebook. I use randomized passwords for everything and 2-factor authentication, so it appears that no one has been able to actually access my accounts, and I used the setting to sign myself out of everything just to be safe. In the emails there's always an option for if I wasn't the one that requested the code, yet this is still happening. I remember facebook used to show locations of where attempted logins came from, but it looks like they don't do that anymore. This has been weirding me out for a while. Normally these kinds of things happen a couple times and then they stop, but this person or program has been relentless with trying to get in. Does anybody have some advice or a similar experience to share?

hey guys, so i sent money to a seller on facebook using paypal goods and services and now hes telling me he cant use the money as its showing as pending and he wants to return the money because he doesnt want anything to do with it now after getting to know that he has to wait till i receive the item and confirm that its all good, now i really want that item, is there a way from my side to make the money available instantly before receiving the item so the seller can go ahead and ship the item already as hes hesitant that i will scam him and get a refund after he ship the item. TL;DR : i want to make the money i sent by paypal goods and services available to the seller asap even before i receive the item

Hey everyone, A couple days ago I had my first experience being hacked on Instagram. How it happened is something I cannot figure and its seriously bugging me. I use a password manager that generates a strong password to secure to my account. I have 2 factor authentication set up and my choice was to use the password managers one time password as the authenticator as well as sms code. I have login notifications on as well so anytime I login I get an email and a push notification. I also have suspicious login attempt notifications on. Upon waking up the other day, I received a text from a few friends alerting me I was hacked. I did not receive a email login notification nor did I receive a push notification or suspicious login attempt notification. I did not receive a text with a 2-step code. Thankfully in my case, my password was not changed. I was able to open Instagram as usual and logout the other person who signed in. They were signed in from Germany. Here's what I do not understand, I logged in on my PC to change my password, immediately I got an email and push notification alerting me of a suspicious login attempt that requires my approval. Why did this not happen when said hacker logged in? I know most "hacks" are phishing except I've only ever been logged in on my phone and I have never used a third party app to sign in with my Instagram. I also change my password every 6 months out of fear of being hacked since its happened to multiple of my friends. Does anyone know how it is possible that they were able to by pass 2-factor and login notifications?

I dunno if Peripherals is the correct subforum to post this under, but I searched and saw other VR posts here, so if this is the wrong place, let me know. The company one of my family members work for has bought 5 Oculus Quest 2's that they want to use for community events and online meetups, I suppose. However, it appears that they have no clue how to actually get them set up and didn't know about the facebook account requirement before purchasing them. They thought they'd just be able to make one account and share it across all the headsets, but it seems they wouldn't be able to play online with each other if they do that. I've been told there's a more business oriented version of the headsets you can buy, but that doesn't really help because they've already purchased 5 regular consumer model quest 2's. I guess what I'm really asking is what the best way to go about setting up these headsets would be. Do they just have to make 5 facebook accounts to tie to each of the headsets so they can play together? Is there any risk of those accounts getting banned and bricking the headset since there's no actual person tied to them? Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks.

Saw this Asus Ad on Facebook, thinking it is too good to be true, but on the off chance it is real, thought it wouldn't hurt to ask around. If you click it, it brings you to the Asus store, and lets you put your selected items into your shopping cart. Maybe I just got a virus from it?

It seems as though Facebooks new logo for their new brand Meta is pretty much an identical copy of a German development app business called M-sense Migräne by Newsenselab. Both logos are extremely identical to one another which could lead to a potential lawsuit. Quotes My thoughts I think this is extremely funny as they pretty much look 99% identical. I'm just curious as to how the lawsuit would go down if they wanted to take Meta to court, should be quite interesting. Also the fact is Facebook most probably has invested a lot into their rebrand and if they lose a potential lawsuit it could be more problems in the can for them. Summary Investors from a consortium of Facebook shareholders are suing the company over its unlawful gain in market power in a large lawsuit that was filed in Delaware. Some of the allegations are that FB had failed its 2012 consent decree, removed apps from its platform that didn't give it data, knew about the Cambridge Analytical Scandal but did nothing, paid the FTC $4.9B to protect the Zuck personally, insider trading occurred, among others. My wife and I have mostly chatted long-distance on Messenger for most of our relationship (6 years and counting), and it'd be a hard blow if we lost any of the contents by some freak of nature (i.e. Facebook going out of business, however unlikely that is). Is there a piece of software or a method I could use to back everything up in say, a PDF format? I've looked at the Decipher Download tool, but I just want to make sure there's no other method floating out there before I drop $20 on mystery software. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Summary Facebook maybe be kicked off the App Store and Instagram may also Now it’s nice seeing apple taking a step towards a more private way but people are going to be very very angry There either going to get rid of it on the App Store or they’re going to have to make Facebook stop getting so much data.
