Hello all, I recently have been having a specific problem with my PC, where it can randomly restart while playing a game. It can occur quickly within 5 minutes of play, or even take much longer up to 4-6 hours before it will randomly restart with no warning or explanation. Eventually the problem started happening even when i was not gaming, like simply watching youtube or browsing Chrome. I have been running my PC normally now, simply browsing the web and playing video games, for about 6 months (it is still fairly newly built), with no issues, and this problem has only started occurring for about 1 week now. SPECS- mobo : MSI B250M GPU- GTX 750TI 2gbCPU- Pentium G44008GB DDR4 RAM500GB Sata HDDPSU - EVGA 450 BT While not limited to occurring only when gaming, (as stated above, it has happened recently simply on idle or youtube etc) this problem seems to occurr MOSTLY, when i am trying to run a game, in this case the game being MGSV Phantom Pain. Naturally i monitored all temperatures and everything is in exceptionally good ranges, no oveheating, PSU is fairly new and appears to be running fine as well. It may also be helpful to note that the game itself suffers no recognizable slow downs or lags while i am running it, temperatures for GPU hover around 54C and CPU sits around 46C, all at a stable 50-60FPS. Tried everything i could think of, cleaned all components, reapplied thermal paste, swapped RAM and RAM slots etc. I am also running the latest Nvidia drivers. I have come across a lot of posts claiming that such a problem is most likely PSU related, but before i also go down that road of randomly buying a PSU when it might not be necessary, i should mention that I checked my Event Logs, and there are MANY random warnings and errors before the eventual random restarts happen. A lot of them having to do with something called "DCOM". Right off the bat I dont have much experience with much of, if any, of what these event log errors are trying to tell me, but i will share some of the logs of the past 2 days. Hopefully someone can help lead me to some type of answer. One thing i have noticed with these logs is that every single time, the one error that occurs right before the restart, is one relating to "DCOM". The logs are below, everything you see is basically repeated constanstly over the past couple of days, and there are currently around 3000 total exactly identical log error message, before and after the random restarts, from the past few days alone. Maybe they are not even related to my restarting issue and all i really need to do is switch my PSU despite not having any idea why, but i am here for help. So I am having problems with google chrome not being able to load websites randomly. I have a stable internet connection and even other web browsers work fine. I have tried multiple ways to investigate the issue but nothing has helped me fix it. I am looking for anything that can help me fix this issue considering chrome has been my main browser and I would like to keep using it. Another thing to note is that for a moment upon restarting the computer Chrome will work just fine for roughly 10-30 seconds.

Corsair Dominator Platinum - Warnings
flaviu.vlaicu posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, Could anyone pleased enlighten me with a more specific information regarding this? Is this a warning or an actual error? Attached are pictures with model of ram and the warning. Will this cause any issues? RAM is running with XMP setting at the specified specs Regards, Flaviu -
Its been months since my hard drive has started giving issues. 1. Every time I boot up my PC, I get this error in the notification area - Scan to Repair Drive Errors. 2. It happened twice that after the chkdsk repair utility was executed, the files on my hard drive disappeared yet consuming space on the hard drive. 3. I had to run a data recovery software in order to recover those files. On research, I found that the files disappeared because of the chkdsk utility. The problem keeps arising although the S.M.A.R.T. status of my drive shows "Good" (used Speccy) I don't know if my HDD is about to die. The solution to this problem will be very much appreciated. Respect. - Sarvesh K.

So i recently built a new PC with no OS. I wanted to install windows 10 on it, but am having problems doing so. I insert the usb installation tool, that i created with Microsoft's "media creation-tool", boot the pc and get the following error 0xc0000098 (something about ntoskrnl.exe / indicates to memory problems, which from my understanding should only appear for the actual OS system, not boot usb) Keep in mind there is NO OS on the drives. After some troubleshooting: - checking ramsticks and slots. - disconnecting hdd/ssd to see if the error came from them. - connecting only the necessary parts, like 1 screen, mouse, etc... I found out that one of my rams is causing the error. When ONLY the bad ramstick is placed in, i'll get a new error 0xc0000017 (which indicates to not enough memory) and when both are placed i get the the previous error. Conclusion: one stick allows me to start the windows installation process, while the other is causing errors preventing it. But to be sure that the ram was bad i did some testing: - Memtest86 v7.5 did 2 tests with 8 passes (4 passes were done at a higher voltage) no errors. https://imgur.com/SHLErNQ - No error beeps, just one short beep when booting pc - Ram visible in BIOS and LINUX (bootable usb). - No posting problems. And this is were i'm scratching my head. how is it that a ram is causing problems, but has no errors and seems fine according to every test. Bios is also up to date, otherwise i wouldn't be able to use the CPU on my mobo. So that can't be the problem. Contacted Asus about the sticks if there compatible with the mobo, they tested my ram out and it worked for them with the same mobo and cpu. I'm at a loss, asked a pc repair store if he ever heard or encountered something like this before and he said no. also asked a couple of other ppl they never heard of a ram that has no error that won't work while everything indicates it should. Here are (maybe) unusual thing i noticed: (maybe its useful info or not) - When going into boot menu i see 2 different versions of my USB named: * UEFI: (usb name) * (usb name) I don't understand why? my built: 1 AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Wraith Boxed 1 Asus Prime B350-Plus 1 Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GD5 Special Edition 1 Seagate Barracuda, 2TB 1 Fractal Design Define S 1 Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15B (2x8gb) 1 BitFenix Formula Gold 450W 1 Samsung 860 EVO 250GB I hope this is enough info for you guys to help me out. if you need more info i'll be happy to fill in the blanks. Has anyone else encountered something like this before?

Ok in short my programs crash. Now long story. Yesterday I changed my startup sounds on my pc. It worked fine and tested after acouple restarts. So today I put on my gpu bracket.(i have a radeon hd 6780 x2) and I went out shopping. I came home and World of warships refused to play. I kept getting errors like createEffect error unknown error. So after giving up, I just went and wiped windows (all games on another hdd drive) and now almost every program wont work. Like microsoft edge you can search for somthing, but when you click on the link that you want it crashes. Ive changed memory and gpu. Is it possibly a bad install of windows or cpu? Help. Thank you.

I was wondering if anyone could help, when I shut down my pc occasionally it comes up with a memory error ( something like 0x0000000000000038) I was wondering if and how I could fix it and if the error mattered seeing as it disappears after like a second. Id appreciate any help, thanks

Since I woke up my audio hasn't been working, it was perfect last night,I've updated drivers nothing working still.

Recently I made my first Computer Build. In it is a Ryzen 3 1200, GTX 970, 8gb ram and a Msi B350m mortar motherboard. I immediately updated the bios due to it originally only showing 2 cores (updated and fixed, shows all 4). I then download a Windows 10 iso. and installed it on a USB 2.0 flash drive using Rufus. I booted on the flash drive and selected to Install. I was then greated with a message stating "A Media driver your computer needs is missing". I searched for fixes online must leading me to INTEL RST, but I assume this will not work with AMD's architecture. Any help on a fix to this driver issue would be greatly appreciated.

So I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 about a week ago running Windows 10 Pro 32-bit and it worked fine. But now after disassembling the PC to upgrade the CPU and give the case a new paint-job, it refuses to boot. Now I get the Dell splash screen, then an error message that says "Floppy Diskette Seek Failure" And I have the options to press "F1 to continue, F2 to enter set-up, F5 to run diagnostics". Running diagnostics produces no errors. Entering set-up and turning the diskette off removes this error. Pressing F1 goes into my Grub boot menu to choose between Linux and Windows. Booting into Windows throws another error "Inaccessible Boot Device", while rebooting will give me the "automatic system repair", but my keyboard doesn't seem to work during that so I cannot continue the repair. Booting into Linux (Manjaro Linux 64-bit, Budgie Desktop) doesn't even produce an error, it just boots into an Emergency shell. In addition, the diagnostics LEDs on the case seem to flash in a pattern while powering on in this order (3 4, 2 3, 1 2 3). The power button just stays a solid green. Also, using the BIOS set-up menu shows my 1Tb HDD as not being online, yet the case LEDs shows it is reading from the HDD and I still get my Grub menu. This is my only Windows device so I am unable to create installation media to reinstall Windows. I do however, have a Xubuntu 17.10 laptop and a Chromebook. Flashing a Windows ISO onto a USB drive doesn't boot at all. It'd be great if someone could possibly provide a solution to at least be able to boot into Windows (I don't care much about not having a Floppy Diskette ;-) ), or if you could link me to a relevant source that may provide a solution that'd be awesome too! And no I don't have important stuff on this HDD so completely erasing it is fine by me, oh and my BIOS version is A10 just so you know.

Hey guys, just built my new computer and is currently around 3 weeks old. During this period, I have received almost around 10 BSOD's out of no where. The blue screens occur when i'm installing things, launching things, or just searching the web or even through my computer. Error Codes: Video_Scheduler_Internal_Error DPC_Watchdog_Violation Specs: Ryzen 5 1600 Gtx 1070 OC edition Asus Strix 2tb WD blue 5400rpm (Considering that this might be the problem of the blue screens) 16gb of ram Corsair LPX (Running 2133mhz but should be at 2400mhz) 750 Watt bronze power supply by EVGA ASUS b350-f gaming motherboard What I have done: Checked for windows latest updates and installed them sfc /scannow thing reinstalled windows (Using windows built in feature to reset) Exchanged for a new video card Did a windows memory diagnostic and it detected no errors. Checked for latest drivers and installed latest drivers. What could be the problem? All help is appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm new here and my friend recommended this site to me because I've been having some major issues with my PC. (sorry if I break some rules by mistakes) So for starters, these are my PC specs (Custom built PC btw) FX-6300 8GB of RAM gigabyte Windforce (Rev. 1) R9 280X Windows 10 Pro Now I don't know much about PCs and stuff but I have so many problems with it lately. For starters, there's no audio, my games on steam don't run at all (Team Fortress 2 and Fallout New Vegas should run on anything), on start up I get a bunch of errors. So those are the current problems, as far as I know when I first got the PC it refused to turn on and I had to get it fixed. Sadly I can't afford to do that since I'm on a tight budget. I really need help and at this point I am willing to do anything. Feel free to ask me anything.

Hey. I have a fairly old computer that has the minimum requirements to run windows 8.1, it's a 32 bit system with 2gb of ram and a dedicated graphics card. It had some problems I was able to fix in the past (dead ram stick) and install an OS on it. The hard drive in which I installed it wasn't mine so I had to wipe it and give it back. I haven't touched the system since then. Now I'm in sort of a hurry and since I had an external hard drive I never used, I decided to gut it and get the hard drive, it is now connected to the system. Here the problems begin. So, I had completely forgotten the system was 32 bit and tried installing the 64 version of windows there. It gave me the error and I swapped the OS on my hard drive for the official windows 8.1 x86 image from their app thing(media creation tool), and used the official windows usb tool to burn it to the usb, which usually works. I got something like this: File: \Boot\BCD Error code: 0xc000000e The boot configuration data for your PC os missing or contains errors. (the first message was something related to having changed the hardware on my system which makes 0 sense because it's a clean install on a clean hard drive) I tried burning directly to the usb with the media creation tool, which gave the same results. Important to notice the external hard drive was completely wiped before any usage in this scenario and is fully functional, also no other boot devices were active on the system at this time. Next step: I tried everything possible. I pulled out the DVD drive off my rig and connected it to the system, so I tried installing both windows 7 and 8.1 booting from both the DVD and the pendrive, media creation tool or usb tool. Nothing seems to work. On DVD it actually goes into windows but it just gives me a freaking error message I need the setup dvd and that "kernel bla bla is missing or corrupt". I tried multiple hard drives, I don't have an IDE one, but I even tried an SSD, all with the same result. The only peripherals connected to the system are the keyboard, screen and pendrive when not using DVD. I'm pretty sure it's not a RAM issue, the CPU seems fine, motherboard is also unlikely because it's usually much worse. I once tried memtesting and it gave me some error about not the executable file not being "legit" and that the computer in which the DVD was written might be contaminated. I ran both AVG and malwarebytes and nothing popped up. Now I had to tried real hard not to use the F word 1000 times, I'm quite frustrated, any help would be appreciated, as all these errors make no sense, seeming that it's something that would happen with an already installed windows. Thank you.

I started up my pc I had built recently today and discovered that the internet was not working. After checking my modem and hardware, I checked device manager and next to the driver 'Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V' there was an exclamation mark where there wasn't one before. I clicked on the driver and it had the following message 'The device cannot start. (Code 10). {Operation failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful'. This was not definitely not there before as I had checked the drivers previously. I'm new to building computers and I don't know what to do about this or if I can fix it, it was working just fine previously and now suddenly it isn't for no apparent reason. I'm running windows 10 and the motherboard is a Asus Z170-A, in case that's relevant. Please help. Also in windows 10 I have no option for wifi in network settings, which is weird, which is why I'm using ethernet.

I am having an issue with hard drives failing. I have gone through 3 hard drives, boot drives in a month. The first two I had bought in 2010 so I figured they were just old. The first one started clicking really bad and an error message kept coming up saying something like "Bad Drive back up data" or something similar. So I got one of my other drives which I was using to store movies on for the past couple of years and a week later same thing. So I used a hard drive i had bought and been using for 2 months and it keeps clicking and freezing up but I am not getting the error message. Its like it is constantly scanning. It is only 16 % fragmented and I have the partition split so I can store my frequently accessed movies on the bigger partition. Anyone else had a similar problem or know what is going on. Posting a picture should I put all my movies on the second disk drive and just do a single partition on my main drive.

I have 2 hard drives which are being reported as caution by crystal disk mark program. I am not sure how severe the warning are. Are they failing and do I need to replace them? What should I run to try and fix the erros if possible? Which one of them would you say is in worse condition the 320gb one or the 500gb one? Here are the pictures for both hard disks.

So I'm totally at a loss here. CPU - i7-580k Mobo - X99-Pro RAM - Dominator Platinum DDR4 16GB 2666 (Quad Channel Kit) (CMD16GX4M4A2666C16) - Checked, this IS on the QVL. - I am running all DIMMs in the correct config, I read dat manual, don't worry. Now to the story: I ran memtest a few days ago, because I suspected something was wrong with one of my DIMMs. Since I built my PC a year ago, occasionally only three of four sticks would be detected by BIOS or by Software like CPU-Z. Weird stuff that I thought nothing of at the time. Usually a different XMP profile, or different overclock for my CPU solved the issue (no idea why). I ignored it, as I wasn't ready to deal with the fact that there was wonky s**t going on with a PCI had just built. A year later (now) I finally got around to running memtest with all four sticks in their proper places -> I got 6000+ errors before the test crashed. I began removing individual sticks to see which one was the culprit. T Take 1 of 4 dimms out, run with 12GBs, get errors. Take the next of four dimms out, run with 12GB, get errors. Take the third of four dimms out, run with 12GBs, no errors, BUT BIOS only detects 8GB of RAM (wtf? how does that make sense) ----So I mark the dimm that I removed in that last test as the one producing errors. I assume this stick is the culprit. Still doesn't explain why I now have 12GB in my system, and why only 8GB is detected. Test the stick I assume is the culprit with one other dimm (8GB installed, 8GB recognized), and I get zero errors now. I'm totally at a loss here. Now I'm into testing sticks in dual channel at the moment. Have not done single channel tests yet. (I guess proper testing would mean I test each of my four sticks in EVERY DIMM slot, right? Meaning 32 tests I need to run total. (But at 3~ hours per test, thats a LOT of time I don't have.) The reason I am concerned: I've been reading around the internet, and have come to the conclusion that the only acceptable Memtest result is 0 Errors (right?). So I've no idea what's going on. Anyone have any ideas? I'm this close to just RMAing both my motherboard and RAM at the same time, just to see if that clears everything up. Pardon the wall of text, but thanks for the help.

Hi, I have a one month old installed system with: Asus Ranger VIII Intel i5 6600k CPU A Data XPG 2400 Mhz PC4-19200 4x4 GB DDR4 Corsair H100i GTX Thermaltake 630W SE Intel SSD 530 120GB Geforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming and yesterday i got a BSOD and system reset and could not boot into windows anymore, i got a lot of BSOD errors and Q Codes including AE AD 04 A9 and a lot more but for now it is constantly in a restart loop or just stuck with Q Code 04 and the orange BOOT_DEVICE_LED always on. And sometimes i get a message about setting the RAID correctly in the situations where i do not have any RAID connected devices. I am desperate as i have a lot of work to do and i alredy lost some projects from the past days i was working on the SSD as i erased the SSD along all other advices i got online but the bios keeps resetting when trying to access it and when i get to boot choice and i select either USB or DVD Drive with the windows installers the windows logo shows up but them the system restarts and keep showing code 04. I changed CSM and SECURE BOOT settings and still nothing worked. I removed RAM one by one and tried to enter BIOS and i managed to upgrade BIOS from 0401 firmware to last upgrade 1201 and now UEFI BIOS shows the correct BIOS version but still the pc keeps restarting in BIOS or stuck with Q Code 04. I cleared CMOS removed battery and re-installed batery. I dissasembled and re-assembled the system and the cables one by one and i checked them properly one by one. I also tried with a different SSD and a different HDD one by one. I removed all cables and replaced SATA and PSU cables with new ones and still same issues. I removed GPU and tried with mainboard HDMI and DISPLAY PORT with 2 different monitors for each. I tried with Windows 8.1 and 10 CD installers and USB drives created with WINDOWS DVD/USB Tool and RUFUS and POWERISO too and nothing booted and still the same error so let me know what i can do! I tried with a different RAM stick specified in the MB manual and still the same Q Code 04 error or showing the Windows logo and then BSOD with a lot of different errors and then restart loop again. I tried with a new PSU and still the same. The system was running Windows 8.1 Pro updated wednesday with the latest updates and i use Bitdfender Antivirus and i actually found some treaths before updating windows last week so that is why i updated windows, maybe this might have something to do i don`t know i really am out of options right now. At this moment the 2 pieces that might be broken are either the MB or the CPU so what do you think? Should i try something else or should i RMA both? Thank you in advance for your answers, GTRobert

Greetings, I have a problem with my computer, this is what happens usually: It randomly freezes, and the image stays like a print screen, and I can't click anything, or move, etc (this happens while playing, watching videos, surfing the internet...) Then I have to restart the computer and it freezes a couple more times for a while, until it gets back to normal... And until it happens again All drives are updated, I've tried to switch the GPU, tried with individual disks (I have a 500GB + SSD), formating... But nothing fixed. Can anyone give me some guidelines of where the problem may be, and possibly how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
