My father's job involves restoring old media to digital formats. This requires some editing as the hardware he uses re-records the original format with all its errors including poor color grading, out-of-sync frame pacing, track skipping, and upscaling to 4k. He spends most of his work time in Wondershare Uniconverter and he's been lamenting how after the cropping and color grading that takes only a few minutes, the 4k upscaling takes more than an hour for each video. Moreover, working on more than 3 projects simultaneously will dramatically slow down the entire process. But as there are sometimes over 100 individual videos and multiple days' worth of footage to record and edit, would a simple GPU upgrade be worth the investment? Right now he's using an rx6600 and a Ryzen 5600g. I'm not sure if it's a CPU limitation or a GPU limitation, but I have a hunch that it's the 8GB Vram that limits him on how many videos he can load at the same time.

I recently started concert photography, thus far anything photography related ive used my phone and lightroom mobile to edit but scrubbing through 2k+ photos has become quite a burden. Im looking for suggestions on a laptop that can handle lightroom/photoshop and maybe even some gaming (prefer to play destiny 2) price range is around $1k USD, ive been looking at the MSI katana 15(13650h + 4070) but it seems its lacking in the screen department in terms of editing. a desktop isnt out of the question either, but i would need to get a monitor.

I am a 20-year-old small content creator who needs some help Upgrading/Re-building a computer that I won't have problems with and that will work well for multi-tasking (Gaming, Streaming, Editing) and be as reliable as possible. My fps drops constantly, and it can barely run games like rocket league (my main game) and Fortnite at low quality settings ESPECIALLY while streaming, leading me to just buy a laptop which has been working great but can only do so much. I can't afford to buy parts to upgrade yet but I'm all about progressing so I'm really just trying to plan out my next steps if that makes sense. but if you could please take the time to help me out with some type of advice or something I would really appreciate it! Hey everyone, hope you all have a great day/evening! Apologies if this question gets asked a billion times, but to be honest I couldn't be bothered to read through countless threads I am in the market for a new monitor that will cover both my gaming and photo editing needs. I have a budget of roughly $400-600 and min. requirements are 144hz, 27", 2K and low latency. It of course also has to have good color accuracy as I am planning on calibrating it. If there are barely any monitors which sufficiently covers this, I am willing on increasing my budget. But I would first like to know how the market looks! Appreciate all the help I can get!

TLDR: I want a Premium gaming laptop for gaming, ai image creation, local chatbot, and light Photo editing. I currently have a wonderful Desktop but cannot travel with it. I care about build quality, Performance, product longevity- long term technical and hardware support (3-5 years). Budget: no more than 3K USD Story time! Back in 2017 I bought this, and I have loved the performance. But the build quality was lacking, and if it was built better I would still be using it today. I have replaced the fans 3 times and upgraded the storage and ram; on my last replacement of the fans I somehow damaged the circuit for the screen. It still turns on, but the screen is completely black but works with an external monitor. The msi laptop also had many other build problems, screws falling out, dented and damaged monitor back plate that caused hot spots on the screen, the back protective grill started falling off, and early on my little brother somehow knocked off 3 of the keys (I was never able to fix them or replace the keyboard because I could not find replacement parts for it.) I am also quite rough on everything, I'm not necessarily saying the laptop was bad or built poorly but it was built too poorly for me. Needless to say, that laptop is far past its reinterment age... On to newer and better things yes!! Well hold on, I am also an idiot! So I need to tell you one more short story. EGPU time, I have been using my girlfriends surface pro for the last few months an upgrade from my surface pro 5, and was thinking I should just get an EGPU, I already have a 3090 in my desktop and this is way cheaper than getting a new gaming laptop. A compromise sure, but one that would save me thousands of dollars, I am ok with that. I order one off of ebay for less than $300 for the Razer Core x Chroma, quite a deal! Get it in yesterday, hook it up this morning and it says thunderbolt performance may be limited... ok. I made sure to get a thunderbolt 4 cable and followed all the troubleshooting steps that razer offered. long story short, the surface pro is a 7 not an 8. The 7 does not support thunderbolt....... F. Taking everything into consideration I need a new laptop! I want to game with my friends and I want to continue doing the AI shenanigans I have been recently. I also like to edit pictures that I take with my DSLR. If I choose to still try to use the EGPU I have no idea what kind of laptop I want. I would not want to spend more than $1500 on the highest end.. Regrettably, I feel that getting an entire system would be more beneficial for me in the long term especially because I'll be in up to 3 different hotels every week. (I was a wind turbine technician but am now switching over to solar). Here is the laptop I am considering. I am definitely ok with refurbished and in general do not like to pay the premium brand-new tax. As far as laptops go, I do not like to buy used off of ebay. lets talk support, I don't necessarily need OEM customer support, but I do want an online community with lots of people with a similar laptop and more importantly the ability to buy replacement parts when needed. I'm not against the idea of the gaming Framework laptop, but I'm not convinced that they will be able to give me the power I am looking for, plus it is not out yet. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks LTT community!!! GPT4 TLDR: I need a premium gaming laptop which includes gaming, AI image creation, local chatbot, and light photo editing. My budget is $3k USD, and I'm looking for a laptop with good build quality, performance, and longevity, with long-term technical and hardware support (3-5 years). I had a bad experience with a MSI laptop due to poor build quality, and an attempt to use an eGPU with my Surface Pro but it didn't work out. Therefore, I need to purchase a new laptop, and I'm considering a refurbished option.

Hey everyone - I’m a freelance video producer and need to buy a laptop that allows me to edit on-site for quick turnarounds. Currently edit on a desktop system with a Ryzen 7 3700x and a 3070. Looking for a windows machine with a light enough weight to not be a huge burden for travel but has the power to handle 4k editing when needed. I know I’m describing a mac here but I’d prefer a windows laptop. Budget is 1500 but I can kick it up to 2000 if it’s mandatory.

how’s the performance on premier pro with your ryzen computers or intel? Might upgrade to a 5700x

Budget (including currency): Around $1200 USD Country: USA Verdict: So currently I'm just Editing on Davinci Resolve which for the build I have now, it gets slow at times, and I thought my memory was fine but I think I might need more or get a better version with 64 GBs instead to make it less of a hassle. But editing aside, the following is slightly a bigger priority of mine, I also Stream often and I done a couple test runs and whenever I play long hours I tend to get dropped frames on Stream especially on games with HD graphics like It Takes Two, so, again maybe better/more ram is needed. Gaming without Streaming anything is fantastic so no problem there. Other details: I plan on streaming on 1080p 60 for the most part, as far as editing, Its nothing insane like, I'm not editing 4K footage at all. Its 1080p gameplay and I'm cutting them up, maybe a few transitions with subtitles but that's it. I leave the pro FX to the experts if I want anything extra I would just not like to have to worry about any lag or setbacks when doing my tasks and streaming, I just want it out the way. I don't think I need to upgrade my motherboard but if that's what helps than so be it. I really think its either GPU or the Memory, or Both that need upgrades to help my case but, you guys know more than me. All help is appreciated, thanks! I have a Ryzen 2600, 16gb 3200 ddr4, 240gb ssd with no ram, rx 570, a b450m, 500w psu. case is forsure going to be upgraded but what should I change. I can probably get myself a used 3700x not sure if its compatible and a rtx 3060 with a samsung 1tb ssd and call it a day. Mainly edit iphone videos on my pc. I shoot on an iphone 14 pro max in 4k and it lags so hard. i dont care for gaming too much just know that the nvidia cards are more useful. I have a scythe fuma 2 i think for cooler

Over the weekend I shot some video and edited it down, I didn't realize that I was shooting in 4k and when I imported it into my timeline in premiere my system was not enjoying it. When I was editing my 4k footage, it simply would not playback smoothly until I dropped the resolutiong to 1/8 or 1/16. I currently have 32gb of DDR4, and right now whenever I go over to another program then back into premiere, it won't playback the video for about 30-40 seconds and then its relativly snappy and fine. From everywhere that I read online, they suggest 32gb of ram for 1080p footage, then 64gb for 4k footage, and 128gb for 6k-8k footage. So I know I proabably need to upgrade to 64gb of ram if I want to actually start editing 4k footage, but I am trying to kill 2 birds with one upgrade; primarily the delay i'm getting whenver I switch from premiere to another program then back to premiere. So my questions are: Would 64gb get rid of that delay from switching between programs on a 1080p timeline? Would going up to 128gb further improve playback responsiveness and quality at 1080p and 4k? And lastly, would there be a difference between getting a 3200mhz kit or a 3600mhz when at these higher volumes of ram?

Hi, I do photography when I travel abroad and i've been struggling with some hardware choices to make to backup/edit my photos on the go. I know my way around PC hardware pretty well, but never had the need for a laptop. Now I'm starting to think it's the better choice. I passively watched some LTT videos in the past about laptops so I kinda know that to be aware of. I need something slim, screen FHD is fine (avoid extra costs) around 15" to be compact. A good and large trackpad and a keyboard that holds up. No need for an i7 or tons of ram, I only plan to use it to browse, transfer files and do some Lightroom and Photoshop, but I don't want it to get obsolete too quickly. Also at least 1 USB type a port, 2 would be better. I know my description points me towards apple but I want to keep it PC. (So yeah maybe whats a good macbook PC equivalent ?) I'ts a pretty open question, but if you could give me some brands/models pointers so I have a starting point, I would be grateful. Thank you !

Can anyone point me to a software that enables me to create a virtual pc inside my machine? My friend wants to edit some footage on my machine (virtually thorugh parsec) since her laptop is shitty and cant to that. Since i dont want to give her the acceess to my full pc while im not here nor do i want to sacrifice my own time on pc i wanted to instal a viral machine and let her in so she can edit. I installed Oracle VM VirtualBox but i cant install nvdia drivers and the video memory is like 128 mb, is there a way to change that or are there any alternatives to virtualbox? For the record my system is i5 12600k, rtx 3060, and 32 gb of ram

Budget (including currency): I got the dough, but ideally 2500 and under. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, No Man Sky, Shadow of War, The Witcher 3, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere. Want to be able to hit at 120 FPS on 4K in games (I have a Sony X900H I'll be gaming on) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So here's where the fun begins. I want to create a SFF PC very similar to this build Linus about a year back, but with some key differences. The major differences are: - Same case, the Sliger 580 w/ bifurcated PCIe slots, but with a window panel on the CPU side (I have the NZXT Z53 I'm bringing from my last build), and instead of two 140 MM fans at the bottom, I want to place two 2.5" SSD drives in the spot where one fan could go. These are the drives I'd like to be in RAID - Speaking of RAID, instead of a capture card, I'd like to do a RAID controller connecting to the two SATA SSDs (As a photographer, I'm bringing over a LOT of data and files) - 5800 CPU instead of the 3900 - A non FE 3080 where all the fans face the same direction and pull air in through the slotted panel. My questions are as I begin this process: - In 2022, is a dedicated RAID card necessary, or could I get by with just a software based controller? Keep in mind, I'll also have two NVMe SSDs where the games, apps, and non work related files will be kept. - Will loosing a 140MM fan significantly reduce airflow and performance? Even if I'm using a GPU that's technically better then the FE at cooling a sandwich style layout?

He has put my dreams and the family house hold first, with many of his dreams going to the waste side. I can't do any gaming with my friends much anymore, so it can't do any editing or even handle simple windows without freezing. Even if they got me the pc I need for an upgrade, this pc wouldn't benefit my dad and I want to give back to him. | When | I don't know, probably not for a long while. I would like to know a goal and a list of potential builds and their prices, so that I can keep a watching eye on what I can or can't get. | Resolution | Something to give decently smooth gaming, but I don't believe he'll mind with a few less pixels in pretty detail of quality. Thank you.

Heyo! So my problem is when I try to have 2 videos playing at the same time in this scenario which lags Premiere a lot on playback even with lower the quality (1/4). I've had trouble with this a while ago with other footage too so could this be because of how my obs footage is being encoded (currently I use nvenc) or am I potentially bottlenecking my 3070 ti with a 3700x? My ram is only getting utilized 30% by Premiere as well. Specs CPU: 3700x clocked at 4.00 GPU: 3070 ti Ram: 4 slots of ddr4 8gb 3000hz Storage: 500gb ssd, 1tb ssd, 1tb nvme ssd, 2tb hdd, 6tb nas hdd.

On top of the “Photography and Videography” forum, there should be a sub-forum on top of that for video/photo editing. It should be called like “Photo and Video Editing.” It would be a great improvement for the photo/video editing community that is on this forum.

Hey pros, I’m hoping to gain some knowledge from you that have experience managing large amounts of data (we have 200TB+) across multiple NAS devices (we have 3) and types of cloud backup (we’re using wasabi). Our content creators edit straight off the NAS via 10Gb Ethernet with PC and Mac and the capable machines see 1GBps+ Read and Write. I’m wanting to learn more as I develop a tiered “hot”, “warm” and “cold” storage model/strategy that is scalable and can be roadmapped. Does anyone have experience in this or know of a resource? Thanks in advance!
