I have 2 Display Port monitors. One is a Dell and the other is an Acer. Every time I wake my PC from sleep, all my windows on the secondary monitor have been resized and moved back to the primary monitor. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to fix this issue. On my old PC, this would never happen, and my windows would stay in the same position after waking from sleep. My new PC is running a Ryzen CPU and a RX 5700 graphics card, but since my previous PC had an AMD card as well (HD 7970), I don't think it's a GPU issue. It could possibly be an issue with AMD CPUs since my previous computer had an Intel Core i7. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's driving me crazy because every single time I wake my PC i have to reposition my windows.

Asus X370 Crosshair VI Hero Dual NVME
Mr Technician posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I've got an Asus X370 Crosshair VI Hero and currently have a Samsung 960 EVO installed. I'd like to ad a Crucial P1 1 TB drive for extra storage but only have a single m.2 slot. I'm planning to get something like the link below to make it work. Does it matter what Pcie slot I use? https://www.newegg.com/riitop-model-dul-m2tpce4x-pci-express-controller-card/p/17Z-0061-00062?Description=m.2 pci adapter&cm_re=m.2_pci_adapter-_-9SIA6V89GC6543-_-Product -
Need some assistance before i chuck my monitor out the window. Everything worked fine on my second monitor then today. NOTHING. The monitor powers on and displays no signal detected (I've tried swapping the cables and booting it up with just that monitor plugged in still have the same issue) Windows display settings and Nvidia settings detect the monitor but windows says it isn't active and Nvidia wont let me tick the box on setup multiple displays. Booted the pc up in safe mode... All pops up fine in 680x480 resolution and can access the monitor settings now. But still nothing when I load the pc back up normally! Main monitor ROG PG348q Second monitor XB280HK GPU 180TI Any help is much appreciated.

Hi guys, I have a 4K, 28" monitor and a 1440p, 27" monitor - stacked. Just wondering, as you guys would know that windows 10 'Display' settings see the monitors as 2 different sizes due to the differing resolutions, is there anyway to align these monitors in windows as if they were the same size/an inch out. Just looking to not have dead spots when the mouse is changing displays, be able to 'span' wallpapers, ect. Hope that all makes sense Anyone have any ideas?

Budget (including currency): Already have most parts, just going to buy what's needed Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Plex (multiple 1080p streams, no 4k) + 1440p 140hz gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Yes it's a very weird build. Current plex Build: Current gaming build: (yes I know 980 TI isn't much for 1440p, planning on upgrading to 2070S after 3000 series launch) So the current plan is to get these two builds into a Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL with a Revolt X power supply powering both. I've got quite a few questions which I hope others can help me clear up. Do network switch expansion cards exist? I mean like the simple $30 switches just for getting 1 ethernet wire in, and another out to the second system. I would really hate to have one system on wifi; and I'm not sure if having a small switch just outside the case or in the rat's nest is any better. Storage fiasco. I don't really know anything about RAID and whatnot, I simply plug HDDs into SATA ports and fill them up. I figure when I get more storage down the line I'll look into it--would that require deleting everything I had amassed up to that point? Storage fiasco 2. Are SATA port expansion cards reliable? And I think I've seen you need to buy special, much more expensive ones in order to do RAID set-ups with them, no? Asking because I'm expecting to turn the plex build into the mITX system, but it seems to me like most mITX motherboards are limited to 4xSATA ports. I'm expecting to have a single SSD and another 4-6 HDDs for the plex side of things. Thoughts on turning gaming system into the mITX side instead? I don't expect I'll have anything other than the GPU to plug into pcie ports and I don't think I'll be generating too much heat in the system to choke mITX area. Thoughts on turning plex side into cheap AM4 alternative? I already need to buy a new motherboard, but I think I could probably get $200 for mobo/cpu/ram in current plex system, with which I could get close to making an AM4 build. It would probably have to be a 3000G though, if I got lucky on sale perhaps a 3100 would fit in budget (maybe a 1600 AF would be better? not sure what to look for in cpu for plex). Do you think doing so would have an improvement (#/quality of 1080p streams)? Plus I've still got the 95W cooler for 3600X which I could slap onto a 3100. Those are the current questions I have. Please feel free to share your input because everyone thinks I'm crazy for doing dual system and I love the ridiculousness of it hahahahahaha

Ok guys, i just bought a new HP P224 monitor and i hooked it up to my HP OMEN Gaming laptop, and it started working fine, then i decided to play some GuildWars 2 and my mouse started shifting or drifting to the other monitor when i am in FullScreen 1080p mode, read a lot in the past hour and people say only some 3rd party MouseLock software helps but that looks like a scam, can you help me with something. And after more testing: the mouse drifts to the other monitor only from the side which they /connect/ so from the right side of the main screen I dont know if whoever is reading this will understand what i am trying to say but if you could please help me ;(

Hello there, In my studio I have 4k TV (hdmi only) as a main screen and second HDReady screen with only VGA input. Now, I would like to avoid, if possible to have graphics card in this setup (lower noise, temps and so on). I am not planning any gaming on it. I have z170 motherboard with i7-6700k cpu. I have two outputs from my z170 motherboard - DisplayPort and HDMI. So I have connected HDMI->HDMI on TV. By itself it works great, nice and sharp, 60Hz running well. When I connect my DP->VGA adapter and VGA->VGA cable into my second screen, both shows up, but the 4k TV is a bit muddy, not that clean and sharp as it was before connecting second screen. Also, after lets say 30 seconds, it switches off for few seconds and then load back. And it repeats after another 30seconds or so. Also it runs only 29Hz. Is it even possible to run this setup? Maybe the DP->VGA adapter is not the best idea? I would like to keep the second monitor, since its small and I use it only for Audio EQ visualisation. Thank you in advance for your input. Martin

I’m looking into cinematography with my iPhone Pro Max. The Beastcage setup looks absolutely fabulous, but I want to be able to use my iPhone with a Røde SC6-L Mobile interface connect over Lightning made for iPhone while being able to keep my iPhone charged with a battery bank. Is there a lighting -> dual lighting splitter that would support this? If not this way, is there another option? BeastGrip is the site I’m going to gather most of my Cinema and photography gear from.

Hi! I'm new here, but I've been watching Linus on youtube for some time (thankz dawg!) and I came here for some advice. I had seen the dual xeon videos, and had read a few articles and had decided that whenever I recieved my IRS refund, I wanted to build a Dual Xeon (E5-2680 in my case) PC inside a MACPRO/G5 case ( the case I currently have is a First gen MACPRO, I also have a beat to hell G5 case) and I have ( at least I think ) 90% of the parts purchased and either on the way, or already here. My plan is to use this as a general purpose computer, some mild video editing / 3d modeling with Blender and perhaps gaming. I understand it's not going to break spacetime or gain sentience, but I wanted to see how bad ass a system I could build for my lil' money, nd plus I've heard that it may continue to be relevant, with VULKAN and Dx12 having additional support for multicores. I p lan to use this system in conjunction with a 55 inch Vizio 4k TV as a monitor ($TAX REFUND$) My problem is, that after buying all these parts, last week my gainful employment came to an end and now I would like some guidance as how to get this thing going and get the most out of it performance and otherwise, as cheaply as possible. I plan to use Windows, whichever version is best! My part list on PcPartPicker 2x Intel Xeon E5-2680 2.7GHz 8-Core Processor ( I bought these as a pair ) 2x Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ( bought separately on eBay not sure how to mount? ) 1x ASRock EP2C602-4L/D16 SSI EEB Dual-CPU LGA2011 Motherboard 4x Kingston 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory 1x Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive 1x MSI GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Video Card 1x EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply I'm considering - 1x Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card 1x TP-Link TL-WDN4800 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter 1x TP-Link TG-3468 PCI-Express x1 10/100/1000 Mbps Network Adapter 2x Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan I'd like to hear any advice you guys might have - I mean if there is any way I can make this thing WORK for me, that'd be great. Thanks!

I first built my system about a year ago thinking that 8 gigs of ram would be plenty for me. I'm now noticing that this isn't enough and I'm looking to upgrade to 16gb. I've been asking around and can't get a straight answer as to whether or not buying another stick would work with the one I have. The exact stick is still in my amazon order history so I can buy the same one again, I'd just like to know if it's an acceptable alternative to getting a 16gb kit. So I've moved and now I have a new desk in the living room. The thing is that I want to game on the TV too but I only have one VGA output in my PC, I was thinking on getting a VGA splitter cable and call it a day but the TV isn't 1080p capable, so the image would look distorted or incomplete. I have a very tight budget right now and although I know a new graphics card would be the way to go, I would need a new PSU and case (this one is slim). So if anyone could suggest what are the possible solutions (considering I need low latency) and I have a tight budget, please let me know. Thanks. Note: TV has VGA and HDMI.

Since both are at about the same price, I want to know if there's any difference between Single and Dual Channel RAM. In my opinion, Dual Channel is aesthetically better, but I care much more about performance. Is there any difference? P.S: I'm going to buy DDR4 RAM.

Hello everyone, I have 4k 28" samsung monitor (Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch UHD LED-Lit Monitor with Freesync support https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YD3DBOC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Bj1JybBKXDR6V) I want to buy second Led monitor for dual monitor setup. My current monitors height is 375mm. I want to buy something matches with this measurement but the problem is my desk is not big enough to have 2x28" monitors. So i need to buy something else. The first thing that came to my mind was to buy a monitor that, its width matches with height of my current one so i can use it 90 degrees turned. I found out that there are lots of possibilities. I found a 19" 5:4 Dell monitor (Dell Professional P1914S 19" Screen LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FZ2AQOI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_iD1JybYG64R7Z ) that can be used 90 degrees. So what do you think ? Is that good or do you have any suggestion that i can buy? What disadvantages will i have with a 5:4 monitor. Please don't mind the tv. It will be gone. Thanks Bora

Hi, I'm looking for more information about the Asus GTX1070 Dual OC edition. I've looked at the Asus website and for reviews online but wanted to know how many power phases and what type of heat sink is used. There aren't any pictures of the PCB or the heatsink that I could find. Any help would be great.

Hello, I'm a Linustechtips fan from day one. I bought a cheap Cina Tablet for college with dual os (Windows 10 + Android 5.1), this one to be precise http://www.zdnet.com/product/teclast-tbook-16-pro/ The Windows booting process is kinda unstable and I won't use Android anyway, so I wonder if there is the possibility to disable Android 5.1 and the Teclast bootwindow altogether and just boot directly to windows 10 ? Maybe in the bios ? Greetings from Europe DonQuijote

i'm studying it in highschool. in the hardware class we had the subject about dual chanel and quad chanel memory and the teacher said that you have different ram kits designed for these things and that you should buy them so if you want to install 4 dims into your board you should buy quad chanel and 2 dims buy dual chanel kit. 1st of i dont think that these kits make a difference if you buy a 4x dim kit or 2 times 2x dim kit and also I dont think this is the case. That you have 1 chanel that uses 2 dims and another that uses 2 so if you want to install 4 dims you have dual chanel. and 8 sticks on x99 platform that you use quad chanel. because you can see in cpu-z if you have put in 2 dims it still says dual-chanel Can someone clarify this for me? thanks

I only have about 60-70$ for a CPU and am wondering if the Pentium lineup of cpu's would be a good option. I want something with a decent upgrade path and something that will hold up well with modern games at reasonable settings. Is getting a dual core going to hold me back in the long run?

Hello everyone, I am going to be building my full gaming setup (including PC) soon, and need help choosing some monitors. I have around a 350-400$ budget for my monitors, bud can increase or decrease the cost of other components if necessary. I will be using an RX 480 Nitro + from sapphire, so- no 4k. I really want an ultrawide (2560x1080, not 3440x1440) but most of the ultrawides I have found for that price have very low specs. Since I am using an RX 480, would love to have FreeSync on it, but I realize that that may be a little unreasonable. I could also run dual monitors, preferably with both with FreeSync, with each costing 175-200. If you have any recommendations for ultrawides or dual monitors setups, or simply want to suggest something completely different, then go right ahead. I am currently located in the US and this is my parts list. Sidenote: is kinguin.com a reputable site for Windows 10 keys?

@CableMod I'm looking to buy a set of sleeved cables. What are the differences between Dual 8 (and 6+2) Pin and normal 8 (and 6+2) Pin PCIe cables and what do they look like? I've been trying to google but the results have been varying and I'm still unsure. Also what is the distance between the two power connectors in Dual SATA power cable? I'm going to need White set of ModMesh cables for HX1200i soon. How long would it take from making the order using configurator to get them? I live in Europe and more specifically in Finland. Thank you.

Hey folks, I've got an interesting conundrum here and I'm hoping some of you might be able to help out! I've recently acquired a new job that is requiring me to utilise an isolated system, I require two screens and that's fine but... what to do?! My problem is that I only have one HDMI port, one DisplayPort and one Dual-Link DVI port (which I've already ruled out for analogue reasons). I have a budget of around £200-250 (The British are coming!) and I'm hoping one of you knows how to make an extended display (and if possible, recommend two monitors within my price range) with only one port (be it via HDMI or DisplayPort) because I know using a splitter will only mirror the displays and I require extended functionality. I've searched about online but I haven't been able to find anything definitive, it's probably common sense but any and all help is appreciated. General System Specifications: AMD Athlon X4 860K Processor NVIDIA GTX950, 2GB VRAM 8GB RAM 5TB HDD 1TB SSD Thank you in advance!

Hello Is there a dual monitor stand that is easy to adjust the positions? I center my chair on one of the monitors with the other monitor on the right, but I want to be able to easily change which one is centered in front of me by just swinging them over/under each other. thanks
