  1. Ok so here is my plan I am getting the x-carve by inventables and I was thinking that a fun project would be to build a wall mounted pc that would sit above it. So above it a quick sketch that I did of the basic layout of the project I am thinking that 4' x 4' would be a good size so that I can have plenty of room to mount things Here are so of my ideas so far: now all the graphics will be led back lit and removable so that you can change them by simply milling a new design and setting it in place all of the pc components will be set on acrylic and led edge lit 32" led 1080p monitor will be used and flush mounted into the main board front i/o panel w/ fan controller, usb 3.0 ports, audio ports, sd card reader all water cooling will be done with clear water blocks and hard line tubing with a triple 120mm rad I believe the main board will have to be cut using 4 different board and then joined after milling is complete on each board (I can only do 800mm x 800mm at a time on x-carve) Computer specs so far: Gigabyte gtx 960 2gb g1 gaming samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd 2x seagate barracuda 7200 rpm 3tb hdd tp-link wdn-4800 wifi card Now my question to you guys are: What do you think of the idea? Who would you improve on it? What do you dislike? What cpu, mobo, rad, res, psu should i use? I need serious help on making thr front i/o panel I am not sure where to start on this? Now I will be using the computer to run the x-carve and work in the design software so no gaming or nothing like that But I would like the components that I still need to be all matching in looks and kinda match the theme of the project with the led lights (color changing) and main board begin wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl thanks in advance
  2. want to build a pc specially for gaming and including monitor and windows 8 or 10. If you can i'd like it to be red/black or blue/black (dont include leds). And if you can please make the list on pcpartpicker thanks alot
  3. hi guys i wanna get a pc that can run gta 5 good and i wanna play csgo and league of legends too and i wanna get around 60 fps and mid/high settings so if you have some time can u pleas give me a setup i have around 900 euro's i live in the netherlands and im just using it for gaming if its not possible for 900 euro's u can go up but please keep as low as possible
  4. Hi all, thought I'd share my finished PC with you all. This is my first ever build using acrylic tubing and I thought, "why not try acrylic tubing in a tiny case?" I've always loved the Corsair Air 240 and so the challenged began, how to fit all this hardware in a small case with hardpipe water cooling... Specs Case: Corsair Air 240 PSU: Corsair AX860i Motherboard: Asus Gene VII CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k Ram: 32Gb Corsair Platinum Dominator Graphics Card: MSI GTX970 System Disk: 2x Samsung 850 Pro 512Gb (Raid 0) Storage: 4Tb Western Digital Black CPU Waterblocks: EK-Supremacy EVO Radiator: EK-CoolStream XE 240 Reservoir: XSPC Photon 170 Pump: EK-DCP 2.2 X-RES Tubing: Monsoon Hardline Acrylic Tube Fittings: Monsoon Chain Gun Hardline Fluid: Mayhems Pastel - Ice White Coolant I sadly lost all the images from my SLR Camera as I dropped the SD card in a glass of soft drink However I was able to upload some of the images from my phone so sorry about the lack of quality of the actual build process Anyway hope you like it guys, let me know what you think as I'm tempted to start my next hardpipe build... just don't know what colour theme I should use...I'm thinking either green or purple, yep, purple
  5. Hey there, I'm planning on building a semi-good gaming pc to get in to pc gaming. I'm new to the building scene and I could use some advice. Please take a look at the components I have chosen and give me some feedback Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Graphics card: MSI GTX 960 GAMING 2G Mother board:MSI B85-G43 GAMING ( I know it's expensive but I really want to keep the option open to keep improving my pc ) Processor: Intel Core i5 4460 Power supply:XFX TS Series 550W Case:NZXT S340 ATX RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB - PC3-15000 - DIMM SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series totals around €825
  6. Hello there people of Linustechtips.com. I'm planning to build my first pc in the next week or so. I have spent a decent amount of time planning my build. Now, I'm not the most handy guy when it comes to computers so I had some friends help me out with the components. I did some research myself aswell and this is what I ended up wiht. Could you guys give some feedback on this? Is it al compatibel with each other? I want to play some fairly big games like GTA V on this PC. Thanks for your help! Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Graphics card: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 4690K 3.50 Ghz Power supply: Corsair Builder CX600 V2 Case: Aerocool Aero-1000 or NZXT S340 ATX RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series (500G) (sorry for the bad English)
  7. Hey, im new to computer building and the laptop I have is on its last legs and can berly run csgo on the lowest settings. My budget is 1000 can go a bit over or even under if possible. I have watched all sorts of videos to help try and understand what goes where and what i need. This is what I have gotten so far, http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/vMT3pg , I dont really care about over clocking as that is something i can do down the road. Not to sure if it is any good but most games i play are not to graphicly demanding ( that was beacause of my shity laptop) any help would be greatly apperciated, as your worst guess would be my best. Thanks EDIT: Thanks for the help everyone means a lot!
  8. Heya linustechtips guys, I'm about to purchase my first PC that I'll be building myself and I have spend quite a bit of research on the components. Could you guys do a quick run through to check if everything is compatible and comment if you see something that should be changed before I purchase the PC? Thanks! Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Graphics card: MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G Motherboard:MSI B85-G43 GAMING Processor: Intel Core i5 4460 Power supply:XFX TS Series 550W Case:Cooler Master N600 RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB - PC3-15000 - DIMM SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series - Solid state drive
  9. After many weeks of awaiting package deliveries and adding components here and there. My build is finally completed. The main thought about this case was to make beauty per buck. I'm a big fan of a black/white scheme, and therefore I've gone with what I could. This isn't directly a 'budget' build, but I did have limited funds due to me saving for college this spring. With that said, let's start with the past; I moved on from my old build inside a Phantom 410 case. Specs: i5-4690k(stock), Asus GTX 670, 8GB Kingston 1333Mhz, 1TB Seagate HDD, 240GB Kingston SSD, 64GB Corsair SSD, Corsair TX650M, MSI Z97 Gaming 3. (This is a picture I posted for the ad where I sold this old build for $500. It has an i5-2320 and is on an Asus Mobo. Hence also why the SSD and HDD ain't there. Isn't it gorgeous?? It may not seem like it at first, but I do care a lot about aestethics. The build above was purely made from value components and used hardware I could find online back when I was in high school. -------------------------------- The parts for this build weren't that difficult to pick. Intel and Nvidia is still the masterrace for me, and the i5-4690k is something I already had. Now do bare in mind that I had to buy some new parts where I could have used old ones instead, but selling an unfinished build is not the easiest. In my new puppy there is; Intel Core i5-4690K (Cooled by a Corsair H75) Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 MSI Z97 Gaming 3 2x8GB HyperX Fury Black(really wish I had gotten the white ones, but the black were on sale :c) 2x240GB Kingston SSDNow in RAID-0 (these suck, I wish I had read up on reviews before buying them, and I am considering selling them for around $100 each and getting another 500GB SSD) 500GB Samsung EVO 850 Corsair RM750W NZXT H440 NZXT Grid+ Fan Controller And here she is! jk This is just the assembly after getting the case, PSU, RAM and GPU in the mail. I figured out pretty fast that I hated the look of the Gigabyte G1, and decided to give it a new look. After getting some paint over at our local car store me and my uncle(who's a mechanic) went painting(spoiler alert: we suk). Took around 6 hours to do. Sand papered the parts down after removing the GPU from the cooler. Followed by a wash in some alcohol, and then 3-4 layers before we were happy with the color. The new look of my GPU gave the build as a whole a positive lift(in my opinion). But that's not enough!! So, I went over to moddiy.com and ordered some custom sleeved cables, a few sata cables and some lights(the SSD mounts in this case are pretty difficult to use if you don't have the right cables, I ended up having to bend the power connector to my SSD's in a 60 degree angle, which I'm sure wasn't healthy for the cables nor the SSD. With that said, and 2 weeks later(such delivery, much wow) the cables arrived in the mail. I'm really happy with the outcome. Still wish I could have gotten another mobo, or gotten rid of the red light near the bottom left. --------------- Onwards we go, how does she perform? The overclock of both the CPU and GPU was relatively easy. Only 1.15V needed to keep the CPU stable at 4.5Ghz, and RAM at 2133Mhz. I usually push the GPU to 1520Mhz without any voltage to add. The computer is powering a 3x24" monitor setup, all at 1080p, with the middle monitor being at 144Hz. Here's a head to head comparison with the RAID-0 Kingston SSDNow on the left, and the Samsung 850 EVO on the right(I'm aware that due to the Samsung currently being empty, that may cause inaccuracies in my readings) It topped a Cinebench R15 score of 641, just below the i7-3770 Sorry for the bad images, I wasn't really planning to do a build log, so they were images I found. What do ya'll think?
  10. hey guys, so my monitor is here and the old one is gone so leave a rating if you want monitor is a benq xl2411z btw http://i.imgur.com/mgrJVMx.jpg love, sgtRafsta
  11. Hello people of linustechtips.com. My name is Tom and I'm planning to build my first pc but I'm new to it all. I want to play games at a decent framerate. Please rate the components I have chosen. If you have advice please tell me I can really use it . The components I have chosen are: Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO graphics card: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5 Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 4690K 3.50 Ghz power: Fortron Hyper Series - 500 Watt case: Aerocool Aero-1000 RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB I have not chosen a hard drive yet, but I vind a SSD card too expensive. So I think I'll just get a normal hard drive of 500GB or 1TB. I'm going to be using windows 10 thanks for your help! sorry for the bad English
  12. I'm a photographer/gamer and I built this rig so Adobe applications and games can run smoothly. A bunch of the parts are bought second-hand to save money so I can afford the GTX 980 Ti. CPU: i5 4670k (Used) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S This shot of the parts is incomplete. A bunch of stuff has not yet arrived like the Noctua CPU Cooler. RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury White 8GB (Used) SSD Boot Drive: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB (Used) Connected two cables to my GPU so it can have all the power it wants <3. HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Super JetStream This is actually my second attempt at cable-management, which was a breeze to do in this case. CASE: Fractal Design Define R5 w/ Window (Titanium) PSU: SeaSonic M12II 850W I'll be real with you, the Noctua Fans actually look good. Case Fan: Silverstone AP121 120mm (Used) Case Fan: 2x Fractal Design SSR2 120mm (Used) Beautiful. Monitor: Dell u3014 (Refurbished) Keyboard: Corsair K65 (Used) I am now a firm believer of running a single big monitor rather than multiple smaller ones. Mouse: Razer Orochi Speakers: Creative SBS A350 2.1 After a decade of using computers, this is the first time I'm on a mechanical keyboard. It's a joy to type on even though it's Cherry MX Red. The 4000dpi sensor of my Orochi is still more than adequate. I can't imagine how people use upwards of 8000dpi sensors. Headphones: Bose QuietComfort 15 My desk is ready for the upcoming Battlefront game. All in all, I've saved around $800 because of buying things used/refurbished. I even went within my budget! With $10 to spare. I'm keeping that as funds for my future upgrades (Seagate 3TB and Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB) Nothing was defective but the motherboard still had its old settings running. So I had quite a lot of BSOD until I reverted it back to default and adding a bit more CPU voltage. 14. Hey LTT, I have an idea that I am planning to do on a build. this is more of a concept build rather than a performance- hence I will be using older parts not really meant to do much gaming. Ok well anyway here is my idea. I want to modify the corsair 600t that I own and put a custom built bladeless fan- made from acrylic so it is see through. I think that the bladeless fan idea would be great to show off the front bays- potentially to mount something. I understand the bladeless fans are not the quietest or move the most amount of air but I am looking forward to trying this concept out (pardon the paint sketch attached as I dont have any software to do rendering) Let me know what you guys think!
  15. Hi guys, I'm building a new build for workstation use. I've narrowed by build choice down to these. Keep in mind that this is for RENDERING and WORKSTATION use, not gaming. I already know what I kinda want, and I posted a thread this morning asking for suggestions. This is a combination of the suggestions I got. mATX z97: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($325.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($104.99 @ NCIX US) Motherboard: ASRock Z97M OC Formula Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($99.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Mushkin Stealth 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg) Storage: A-Data XPG SX900 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($60.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB STRIX Video Card ($157.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: Corsair 350D Window MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Antec High Current Gamer 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($53.98 @ Newegg) Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $1063.86 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-06-07 19:53 EDT-0400 mATX x99: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($372.95 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($67.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer Micro ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($193.98 @ Newegg) Memory: A-Data XPG Z1 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2800 Memory ($139.99 @ Amazon) Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP900 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($47.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($109.99 @ Newegg) Case: Thermaltake Core V21 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($54.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: Raidmax 530W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($42.99 @ SuperBiiz) Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $1110.72 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-06-07 19:53 EDT-0400 ATX x99 (is there even a good reason to go ATX?): PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($372.95 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($67.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($162.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($149.99 @ Newegg) Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP900 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($47.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($109.99 @ Newegg) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Raidmax 530W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($42.99 @ SuperBiiz) Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $1114.72 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-06-07 19:54 EDT-0400 THX! 16. Hey guys I'm new to the whole PC building scene and I was wondering if I could get some help from any veterans or experienced eyes. So this is my build right now ( http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YRX43C) what I'm aiming for is 1080p gaming at about 60fps at maxed settings on most games (not trying to max out witcher 3 lol). I've been saving enough money for a pc for about a year, and now with the money saved up I was wondering if anyone could take a look at it and add any comments or anything. Basically I just want to make sure that I'm not making any noob or rookie mistakes with my first build. So if you guys could help me out that would be great! I'm just a poor console scrub trying to make my way into the so called PC master race and if you guys could help me out with this transition I would be forever grateful!
  17. Hello all. I'm new to the forums and i'm having a bit of a issue with the build i'm about to do. I'm going to be building a work station for my heavy workload of video editing, Photo Editing, 3D rendering and audio work as well, But i also want to do some gaming while on my down time or while something renders. with all of that in my head i went over to micro center and i told them the parts i wanted and made two different list of Parts to go for and i would like to share this list and see if i can get some opinions and Ideas from others. here are the two lists i have for the build abnd the build i have is a budget of 2700 I'm using for the build, List 1: Intel Core I7 5930K ASUS X 99-A 2011 -3 ATX Crucial 16GB 4x4 DDR4 2400 DIMM EVGA SUPRNOVA 850G2 80g FM PSU EGVA GTX 750 TI FTW 2GB ACX PCIE SAMSUNG E 120GB 850 EVO SSD 4x SEAGATE 4TB SATA 6GB/ S HDDSEAGATE ASUS WIRELESS 300 DB PCIE LP CREATIVE SB ZXR HI -FI PCIE SNDCARD CORSAIR H1OOI GTX LIQUID COOLER NZXT 5.25 USB3 BAYCARD READER List 2: Intel Core i7 5820k ASUS Z97 -AR ATM 1150 Crucial 16GB 8X2 DD3 1600 DIMM C9 IPSG LG 24X DVDRW SATA OEM SAMSUNG E 500GB 850EVO SATA3 2.5 4x SEAGATE 4TB SATA 6GB/ S HDDSEAGATE CORSAIR HYDRO H11O LIQUID COOLER ASUSCOMP GTX760OC 2GB DDHDP PCIE
  18. Hello everyone! I've been a PC enthusiast for around 3 years so it was time to build a proper rig ! So to expain the title here comes a little backstory. I've been a PC enthusiast for around 3 years, but never really seemed to save up enough money for a beast enough rig. Now at last I had the opportunity to jump out and think "Heck, let's give it a chance". Codenamed "Greyscale", This build is supposed to be a combination of great parts, at both aesthetically but also performance wise. Some of you might go crazy about my spec selection, but as it was some of the components I thought fit well together. Enjoy! June 4. Recieved my first two parts of the build today! Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 @ 2666 mhz & Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD. June 7. Unexpectedly as I was taking some B-Roll of my new RAM & SSD. I recieved two e-mails. My two next parts had arrived, let's start building a bit shall we? Install RAM into Motherboard, and enjoy the view. Time to Install the dust covers for all ports on the motherboard. Unbox dat case. B) Wait, why is the accessory box there? Ouch.. The case had taken some shipping damage, luckily it wasn't that bad. Time to install the motherboard which means I have to take out the port covers for the back I/O ports cause they don't fit through the I/O plate .. Fine I did it.. Well it's installed now! Let's do some light cable management..Well USB 3 cable says no. Time to install my trusty old HDD, using the best HDD sleds I've ever used. Hands down Phanteks! There we go. Now for the more exciting stuff, let's test out the lights on the case. I hotwired an old PSU from a Pentium 4 build I had lying around. And bam - there was light! So far so good people! I hope you've enjoyed this so far!
  19. hi everyone this is my build log of my Corsair 500R build i chose 500R as my canvas because this case has lots of potential and as i have surfed the internet only a few (or i think no one) has fully moded 500R before, so here i am fulfilling my second mod (the first one was a fail, it was 300R ) so this is my case i am converting this normal layout to 90 degrees layout SPECS: PROC: Intel i5 4670k MOBO: ASUS Z97 Sabertooth MARK 1 RAMS: Crucial Ballistix Elite 1866Mhz PSU: Corsair VS650 80+ Bronze (650watts) STORAGE: Corsair FORCE LS 120GB SSD Western Digital RED 1TERA (NAS) Western Digital BLUE 500GB CASE: Corsair Carbide 500R http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/4163.html https://www.facebook.com/ravenraga/media_set?set=a.1104396722910089&type=1 now im cuttung for the back plate where my 240 radiator will be mounted
  20. Just finished putting together my new (for me, anyways) Intel build featuring the 4690k and a GTX 970, along with a Corsair CX600M, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance, and an H440 case. I wasn't too sure about how everything would go down, but joining the forums here proved to be a huge help! Thanks everyone, you were all very helpful and I look forward to utilizing (and hopefully helping others in the future!) the awesome community here for future upgrades, etc. Though it's likely mediocre compared to other builds on the site, I am very happy with it and it was surprisingly easy once all finished! Can't wait to see how she handles the Witcher 3 when it releases! Just starting to build: Got everything together but had to wait another week for the GPU Cable management in the H440 is infamously difficult, but... ... I managed to get it perfectly flat! Hello 970! Once all together, it looks pretty clean in there I think! Only thing I'd like to add is a led strip to brighten things up more Went to peel the plastic off the window when suddenly.. Realized it was inside too yes I peeled it while it was running and realized later how it could've ended very badly.. (not sure if you can see the black computer on the floor but that's my old one.. Feeling guilty for leaving her like that #justcomputerguyfeelings #missheralready)
  21. Hey guys! I just ordered some new stuff for my computer, will arrive after the weekend, tell me what you think, later on I will buy a new motherboard that supports DDR4 RAM and 2011 socket, also a new PSU that is modular and with higher watt, but it was to expensive atm! When I've built everything together this is what I will end up with: Chassi: Corsair Obsidian 750D GPU: Gigabyte GTX 980 4GB G1 Gaming @ Current card CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.0 GHz RAM: Vengeance Pro 8GB @ 2133MHz DDR3 x2 (so totally 16GB) PSU: Be Quiet 600W @ Current PSU Motherboard: MSI Z87-S02 @ my current one, wanted to upgrade but to expensive though I want to upgrade to a better socket but then I have to get a different CPU etc etc .. Cooling: I ordered CPU and GPU cooling blocks, fittings and so on so that my CPU and GPU will be completely watercooled with three fans @ 120mm, will maybe upgrade later on for an additional radiator. Blue UV colored hose and liquid, I decided not to order the UV strip atm since it was like 40 bucks on that website, but will get one in the upcoming week/weeks! What do you guys think? Good/bad combo? Give me your opinions! Thanks! (And of course I will upload pictures when everything is installed)
  22. Hi guys, Still planning my build. Hopefully it will happen in the Summer; I'm planning on doing a watercooled system but I want to sort out my colour scheme first and I wanted some suggestions. I'm planning on buying one of the H440 with the black as the base colour and plasti-dipping the accents white (like a white case but inverted colour scheme). Anyway these are the specs: I7-4970k (I cba to wait for skylake unless it comes out during the Summer) Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark S Avexir Core Series 16GB (the one which matches the sabranco camo) GTX 780ti /980/ 980ti HOF Watercooling wise I was hoping for 2 x 360mm but I think I will just got for a 240mm and 360mm. I'm planning on doing my fans like this (credit to AMD Lover and his Vanilla Ice build) http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/148568-vanilla-ice-750d-in-progress/page-8 This got me considering a Blue and White themed build or maybe the same style i was going for before but with blue coolant instead of the milky white one. Would love to hear your opinions Here are some similar builds I got inspiration from: http://www.avexir.com/casemodding/case-modding-30.html http://www.avexir.com/casemodding/case-modding-41.html Change of plan, I don't see any point in upgrading so i'm going to stick with my i7-3770k and my Asus z77 P8z77-v Deluxe however I will upgrade my gpu for a 770. I'm going with a predominantly white/blue theme with a bit of black. Do you guys think there is any point upgrading? (All i use it for is gaming mainly)
  23. Alright you Linus Tech Tips Fans... Here is the Blue/Green Build I've been waiting to build throughout high school. This build log will be VERY slow, but in the end, it will result to something fantastic. The background is a lot to read, but please do, as most of my thoughts are there. ~ BACKGROUND ~ This is my junior year in high school. In my freshman year, I went down to the local hardware store and picked up a brand new, passively-cooled 2GB MSI Radeon HD 6450. It was all I needed at the time. I had an old Dell Vostro 220s with some cruddy core-2-duo in it at the time. I upgraded this machine, which is the one I'm currently typing this on, to 4gb of ddr2-800, the max. I also upgraded the CPU to an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, which has 4mb of cache and runs at 3 ghz. Basically the i5 at the time. So while I sit here and play my games on low @ 720p, I imagined. How would max settings @ 1080p look? So I did some research, coming across the GTX 750 ti and the R9 270. The R9 270 beat NVIDIA, but I looked further. I figured with 50 dollars more I could get the GTX 960, which is the current goal. So, I looked for stuff from the competitors, and found the R9 280. This card shines, but the power and sheer heat output is much too high for me to be comfortable with. So, for the GPU, I settled for a 2gb GTX 960 from Gigabyte, which I will be purchasing sometime this summer hopefully. For the case, the NZXT Source 210 seemed like a no-brainer. I just purchased this along with 2 Rosewill fans (They are better than the cruddy CM Sickleflows I bought a while back) today. The Fans I am using are Rosewill 120mm fans that VERY closely resemble the CM Sickleflows. Except, they are quieter, have better directional airflow, feel much more expensive, are cheaper, and have fluid dynamic bearings. These will mount horozontilly and have no issues whatsoever, where Sickleflows have sleeve bearings, and this would presume a HUGE issue. For the fan controller, I'm going to get a NZXT Sentry Mix 2. 6 fans, basic, who could ask for more @ 30 dollars? CPU. Intel Xeon E3-1230v3. Xeon because the i7 that is comparable is an 80 dollar price hike. Plus, I don't need the GPU or the 300mhz clock increase. RAM. Crucial Ballistix Sport. 8GB. 1600@ CAS 9. I don't need 16gb because I barely use the 4 I have. MOBO. Gigabyte H81 or MSI B85, haven't decided which yet. B85 is ATX, which will fill the case better, and the H81 is about 30 bucks cheaper. CPU Cooler. CM Hyper 212 Evo. No Brainer. All of this, when I am done, will be valued at about 800 bucks. This will take a while to build, but please stay around for more! ~ BUILD DETAILS! ~ NZXT Source 210 Case (bought) 7x Rosewill RNBL-131209B 120mm fans (4 bought) NZXT Sentry Mix 2 (Need to buy) Samsung 850 EVO 120GB (Need to buy) Seagate 250gb 7200rpm 3.5" (bought) 2GB Gigabyte GTX 960 (Need to Buy) Antec VP-450 Power Supply (Need to Buy) LGA 1150 Motherboard (Need to Buy) Intel Xeon E3-1230v3 (Need to Buy) Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (Need to Buy) Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4gb (Need to Buy) ~ PICTURES! ~ JUST BOUGHT TODAY!
