  2. Planning to Build this PC. Need thoughts or suggestions from the community! CPU: Intel i7 4790k CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX Cooling Motherboard: MSI ATX LGA 1150 Z97-G45 Gaming PSU: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Fully Modular (White Sleeved cables) GPU: EVGA GTX 980Ti 6GB SC SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB HDD: Western Digital Blue Caviar 1TB RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3-1866MHz (White) Case: NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Case (White)
  3. Mineral oil + passive cooling = ??? The purpose of ths build is to show off what passive cooling is capable off when you have recources to to wild. Like my last two passive cooled build, this one is also thoughtfully desiged and is able to runn in an environnement up to 30°C including stress tests. This time the setup allows a TDP of 1100 watts! This is achived by using six amssive heat sinks that form an enclosure. As only flat sides are mounted together it can be seald with welding or a screw and glue combination. So it can be filled up with mineral oil to cool the VRMs, chipset and RAM as well. All main heat sources are still directly coupled to the heat sinks and do not rely on the mineral oil. Thats why I should get away without additional fans circulating the oil. Also the build can be run without the mineral oil for test purpose as long it is not stressed for unreasonable time. As the possible performance is extremly high, so is the price. Also this build was designed on my passive PC so I do not actually need a new one. There I created a blueprint for you, if you have robbed a bank and some money to spend. The whole interior will be filled up with oil. CPU cooling: 8x 8mm heat pipes GPU cooling: Directly mounted to the heat sink with a copper block. This works fine with my GTX 980. Top view: I will explein now why I these choosed the parts here: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ Of course you can modify the list to your needs and save some money. MoBo: Asus Z9PE-D8 WS I went with a dual CPU workstation MoBo. Sadly the models aviable are limitteded, because the RAM slots must be in 90° ange the the PCIe slots. Otherwise they will block the CPU heat pipes. So I choosed the Asus one with the LGA2011 socket. Maybe there will be feasable LGA2001-V3 board soon, so you can pick up better CPUs. CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2637 V2 3.5GHz If you find a better LGA2011 CPU you can afford go for it, but there ones are a good point to start. RAM: Kingston 32GB (4 x 8GB) As much of ECC registered memory as you like. GPU: 3x XFX Radeon R9 Nano This was, as in most build, a difficult decision. The GPU must match these conditions: - No dedicated SLI/CF bridge because the cards are to distant (R.I.P Nvidia) - <600 watts for all GPUs - Single slot IO, so you don't have to use a 40mm think (!) copper block to surpass the second slot. With one slot the copper block is already heavy. - 3x200 watts are much better than 2x300 watts because of the power density - Good scaling (obviously) The AMD Fury Nano meets all this conditions. Also the coolng capacity of the heat sinks is conservative calculated, the actual performance should be better. The Fury allows to rise the power target and scales good with the power allowed since it's held back a bit by the standart TDP. Also the Fury lineup shows very good CF scaling in general. The CAD models of the GPU are not the Nanos. I just cut my GTX980 in half to create the model and save time. I don't have acurate drawings jet, so it's silly to spend a lot of time on the model. PSU: SeaSonic 1200W 80+ Platinum Good quallity and efficient. Due to the oil cooling the fan should hardly spinn up at all. And even if it does the sound should be dampened by the oil because it is at the bottom of the case. Main drive: Samsung 850 Pro NVMe Should be aviable soon and seems better to me than the Intel 750. Second dive: Samsung 850 Evo Don't dare to use a HDD If you are interested I can provide the blue print of the system to you (when you don't use it to generate profit with it). Also I know suppliers for the heat sinks used as well as for custom bent heat pipes. So what do you think of my little dream project? EDIT: For these interested here is the proove of the concept: 250 watts: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/342534-finished-full-passive-powerful-workstation-gaming-rig-who-said-it-cant-be-done/ 500 watts: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/351134-finished-the-silent-cube-pushing-passive-cooling-to-the-limit-with-dual-gtx-980-update-17-pictures/
  4. Ok so a few days ago I asked the community for help on building my first gaming PC. I would like to get more complete builds. Again this is the case I would like to use: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Carbide-SPEC-01-Gaming-CC-9011050-WW/dp/B00I6BJATW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1445196721&sr=1-1&keywords=CORSAIR+CASE Now I would like to run my games at 1080p with 60fps at max settings. The games I play aren't to demanding. Examples are League of Legends and World of Warcraft. I would definitely love to play WoW on ultra with a consistent 60fps+. I prefer a CPU by Intel and plan to use the stock heatsink. I do not want to overclock. Also my plan was to use a GTX 970, but if my demands aren't possible with a GTX 970 could anyone recommend a better GPU for around the same price or one that is slightly more expensive? My original budget was $1500, but I've decided to cut it at $2000 max. For storage I prefer 16gb of RAM and a 1TB Hard Drive. Also a 250gb SSD that's good quality. Also if anyone can recommend a good monitor I would be extremely grateful(this doesn't count towards the budget).
  5. I would like to build a gaming PC. I've been doing a lot of research on how to build a gaming PC. Let me tell you guys what I am looking for. I want to use this case: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Carbide-SPEC-01-Gaming-CC-9011050-WW/dp/B00I6BJATW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445081572&sr=8-1&keywords=gaming+case I'd prefer a CPU by Intel and would like to use just the stock heatsink. Also I want to use a GTX 970 graphics card. I don't plan to do any high end gaming. I just want to play League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and a few other games at 1080p with 60fps+ at max settings. If anyone knows a better graphics card for around the same price, that'd be great. As for the memory and ram I want to use a 1TB hard drive and 16gb of ram, so if anyone could recommend me on what to get that'd be super helpful. PS: Price range at $1500 max. If anyone can help me out or has any other questions to ask me I'll answer as best as I can, thanks.
  6. I'm looking for opinions on my dream setup. I'm definitely not building this anytime soon, but I may build something similar in the future. I will use this computer mostly for gaming and entertainment purposes only. I also do some music making and work. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TCFVn I'm also thinking of including the Samsung SM951 M.2 256GB SSD. Do leave some comments and tell me if anything can be improved. Thank you!
  7. I am a long time fan of Fractal Design. I have had my personal rig in a Define series case for the past 4 years. Starting with the R3 (put my own window in it), I had several R4s, and now my personal favorite, the R5. I have to say, Fractal Design did a great job with this case. They took the R4, which was already great, and somehow improved on almost everything. That's my take on the case. When starting this build, I wanted to make something really clean yet be able to hold all the hardware I wanted. One thing that I have always liked from some of the NZXT cases is the PSU shroud. It makes the whole thing look that much cleaner. I decided to put my own version of that in my R5. I got a piece of 3mm alloy and put it in a break to get the bend I wanted. Then I hit it with a few coats of paint. It cleans the whole build up. I also did my first cable sleeving job. I had always been afraid to do it, but I decided to give it a shot this time. It came out pretty great I think. Since I had the PSU cover now, I decided to go ahead and hide the hard drives under it also. The bottom one is mounted with 4 anti-vibration screws that are screwed in from the bottom fan vent. Then I just used some velcro and a hard drive sled to mount the other one on top of it. Yes... I know, not the best solution in the world, but hey, it works! And for anyone wondering, the hard drive and power supply temps are totally fine. Since I had the hard drives under the power supply cover, and my SSD on the mounts in the back (thumbs up Fractal Design, the SSD mounts are 100X better now) I had no reason to keep the stock hard drive cages. I also don't use a optical drive and since it isn't riveted in anymore, I took that cage out also. This left me with a ton of room in the front. I decided that it was time to upgrade from my 2 year old H80i to something bigger and nicer. I stumbled upon the Raijintek Triton and fell in love with the way it looked. I got it. No mine hasn't leaked. This 240mm radiator fit perfectly into the filtered front intake on the case. Raijintek's stock fans were way to loud so I replaced them with a pair of Corsair's SP 120mm Quiet Edition. I also kept the stock Fractal Design 140mm fan in the back as an exhaust. And that basically about it. Last new thing I did was add some LEDs. In my previous rig, I had a RGB setup, which was nice and all, but the "white color" looked terrible (it was just the red, blue, and green lights on at the same time). So this time around I went with a 12V LED strip which I think was intended for car use, but I just soldered a molex connector to it and called it a day. The rest of the system is pretty straight forward. Maximus VII Hero, i7 4790k, 16GB of Corsair's Dominator Platinum, and a R9 390x ASUS Direct CU II. In the end I think It left me with a really clean and full setup. Totally the look I was going for.
  8. Hey could check my system for any bottleneks and any better solutions. My budget is 800€ I am building system for picture editing, gaming and light video editing. Also I live in Lithuania, so I not always can find right parts. Pcpart picker url.http://pcpartpicker.com/user/karoliscerskus/saved/mgr8TW Thanks for your support
  9. So I'm looking at two possible configurations for a PC, I know what parts I want, but I can not decide as to weather I want to build a small form factor rig or a full rig. The reason why is because if I go with a small form factor it will be cheaper for various reasons (see links to parts lists) and simply because I like the idea of the small form factor. But the problem with that is if I ever wanted to add another graphics card or possibly a PCI-e based SSD in the future, I can't because I do not have room sue to there only being one PCI slot on the board. 10. LET'S CHANGE THE NAME TO Is this worth for 550$? Hi guys, I'm new here. And my first question here is, is this worth? For "gaming pc" that can run for example: GTA V on medium, low sett. Crysis 3 medium.... http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9wprkL GPU is about 100$ CPU cooler is about 20-30$ Also thinking about upgrade after 1-2 years of using this "stock" PC All of the components are new. THX TO EVERYONE WHO REPLIES.
  11. Hi! Im planning to build my first computer ever. Im unsure if the coupons are a good mach togheter. I have seen x times whit people that build gaming PC’s and I think the build locks like its easy done, but im very unsure about the bios settings and all that. I planning to game 4K games at high/ultra high settings. Whit the Asus 27" LED G-Sync ROG SWIFT PG278Q So if you know about a good video that shows all that bios settings i will be happy if you link it. Another question, I have a bad computer from before whit 64 bit Windows 10 home on it, can I that just take that hhd from the old case to the new one? And that it will starts like normal? Another question because im a noob, do you think the ram will fit whit the gigantic CPU cooler? Also I planing to over clock so maybe I need a better CPU cooler, i happy for tips . 12. First desktop pc I've made/had after 10+ years of macbooks and consoles. Feels good! Built this because I wanted a small, powerfull and quiet pc. First build I've seen with atx psu and full length graphics card. Specs: i7 4790k Cryorig C1 with Fractal Venturi HF 140mm Asus z97i-PLUS 16gb Corsair Ram 1TB total ssd storage Corsair CS650m EVGA 980 ti SC+ Ncase M1 Originaly went for Msi 980ti Gaming 6G and it fit without modifications to the card itself, but the fans went haywire and RMA'd it and changed to EVGA one since it was rated as the quieter one. Soundlevels are dead silent, and acceptable when gaming. Temps normal use: Cpu - 40-50c Gpu - 45-60c During gaming: Cpu - 60c Gpu - 77c All powercables are custom made by Mundi at Icemodz He does great work and is really competative on price. . Now pictures of the build. Hope you like it.

  14. okay, so on the past few days, I decided to choose pcpartpicker for gtx 970 build for myself. But then I decided that maybe gtx 980 will be much better build and it will last me longer so here is my new list. I want everyone to critique of which part that I should change which can save me more money. Thank you everyone. I appreciate the opinion and critique. Note: I won't be overclocking my cpu. I won't be overclocking my gpu as well. For wifi card, I only wanna put because I want to save internet speed for my brother for his programing work (speed less than 1gb/s). I stick with nvidia because from my experience, nvidia able to keep cooler temp than amd (at least on my laptops) but I will still consider AMD if 8gbs is worth it. Gaming will be on 1080p to 1440p. (4k does not make sense to me) The build is for gaming and engineering college work. Update: I am making lots of adjustment on my build and now I end up with 3 configuration. All haswell refresh has been changed to skylake with similar price but more powerful. The build this time includes 980ti and Fury X for consideration. 16. This will be a lot of firsts for me. Number one, I have never done a proper build log. Number 2, I never done a full custom GPU/CPU water loop. And number 3, I have never done hard line water cooling before. So this may end up being an ultimate failure, or end up looking pretty cool. This build is being done on a budget, so don't expect 7-way SLI or anything too crazy. For me a computer should look clean, elegant, but not over the top. That's what I'm going for with this one. So time for parts and plans (most have already been purchased or I already own.) Components: Case: Fractal Design Define S Motherboard: MSI MPower Z87 (will modify) CPU: i5 4670k GPU: XFX 7950 3GB (might change to ASUS R9 390X) RAM: 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum (May change to different set with custom heat spreaders) Power Supply: Corsair CX 750W Storage: An SSD of some sort, not sure if I will use an old OCZ Vertex I have layinng around, or an new 850 EVO. Also haven't decided what to do about disk storage. Cooling: 3X Corsair SP 120mm Quiet Edition Aluminum 240 mm Radiator (possibly adding or swapping it with a 360 mm Radiator) 190mm x 50mm Acrylic Reservoir 14W DC 12V Pump with Black rack Generic CPU Block Generic GPU Block 8X Compression Fittings for Hard Tubing 4X Acrylic Rigid Tubing 15" 3/4 Long 10mm ID 14mm OD Rubber tube thing for bending the acrylic 10X Barb Fittings (will only use 1) 2X Angle Barb Fittings (wont be used) LED digital Temperature indicator 8 feet of Clear PVC tube 1 Male to Male coupler adaptor LED light for reservoir Mayhems Aurora Blue Water Dye Custom: PSU Shroud/Cover to hide the power supply and possibly the pump under there All white sleeved cables. I might put a hint of blue in the cables also I am going to painting the yellow spots on the motherboard white I am currently tying to 3D print a backplate for the GPU Might also do some little mods that would include putting a 4 inch screen in there for the heck of it. Plans Blue and white, hence the name Iceberg. It will be mostly white/black, but I am gong to use the awesome Mayhem Aurora Blue water to add the blue accent I want. Like I said, I don't want to go over the top with crazy paint or too crazy mods or anything, I just want a really clean and not jam packed looking system. Not sure how well that will work out considering the Define S isn't a huge case, but hopefully it will still give me enough room to not make it looked crammed. Here is a really rough paper and pencil drawing of the water loop. Sorry for the terrible quality, I'm not an artist

  18. The Gamechanger, my PC build is finally coming. The goal is to make a 'no comprimise, no holding back' gaming rig. The build idea is simple. Make something overkill, but something to fall back on. I have just recieved my first part today, the case, and I'm recycling a old drive on my old pc. Next, I set my PC Case on the desk, opening it up. More to come soon!
  19. Hey guys, this is my second post in this forum. In the first one, I recieve a lot of feedback from good people, which I really appreciate. I made some changes to my pre built. I would like to know what you think about it and if it is necessary to change or add more parts. My budget is between $800 USD and $900USD , but it would be nice to reduce it to 800$ USD or less ( if it is possible) Thanks P.D - I already have a mic,a keyboard, a mouse, a keyboard, a monitor and an optical drive. - I am majoring in software engineer and I love playing videogames ( Dota 2, CS GO, Hearthstone, Starcraft 2 , HOTS, Mortal Kombat X and more on) so i am gonna use this computer for engineer stuff and gaming. - I am going to overlock the computer, but I dont know if the PSU is the right choice for it. Please, let me know, so I can change it Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core ProcessorIntel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card Corsair SPEC-03 Red ATX Mid Tower Case EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

  21. hi everyone, hows u all are doing ? I am going for a gaming computer basically upgrading. I made this combo for setup :- PROCESSOR - AMD 3.5 GHz FX 8320 8 Core Processor Black Edition GRAPHIC CARD - Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon Dual-X R9 270X with Boost OC 2 GB 2 GB DDR5 Graphics Card RAM- kingston hyper x 1600 mhz 8 gb or corsair vengeance DDR3 1600mhz 8gb motherboard :- Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard PSU - Corsair S650w cabinet is of cooler master, basically i am very confused about what i am buying because i live in India and stuff is pretty costly here. This build is not a cheap build here, not everyone gets this type of build and i want whatever i spend on should be awesome and worth. I need help that what i am buying is worth or not ? and open for all type of genuine suggestions. Please reply me ASAP. Thanks
  22. So I want to build a gaming pc and with amd's kaveri processor is it a great idea if i get an amd build or do I go for the casual i7 or an i5?
  23. So I have this friend who is my best friend since grade 3, he wants to start getting into PC gaming with me. I thinking about building him a $800 PC $850 MAX, it MUST! include windows. The GPU (and CPU) must be good enough to handle arma 3, csgo, borderlands, warframe, and a bit of minecraft (honestly any will run it aha). It will be nice if had an SSD but I will be willing to give it up for better GPU/CPU horsepower. I do not think he will be doing OC anytime soon.
  24. This is what I plan to build. Is it good for 1080p, 60fps, and high settings gaming? Any recommendations? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BHJyhM
