Okay, so, regardless of what SSD youre picking (m.2, SATA etc.) it seems that you should always go for one with a DRAM catche. but why? what is it, why do I need it and how can i tell which SSDs have it?

I took out the cpu fan and looked at the 24 pin cable and my 8 pin cpu cable and they both looked fine with no bent pins, I also tried every possible ram combination and there was no change in the res lights at all. I have been searching on stuff in the internet and see checking those two things as the only solutions. I just built this so I don’t see how one of my parts can be ruined already! Any help appreciated, thank you!

Hi! While I do acknowledge that there is "no post on sundays" (thanks Uncle Vernon) I am nevertheless trying to make my new build post. SPECS: ASUS x570 f-gaming AMD Ryzen 7 3700X G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz 2x16GB Corsair RM 750X V2 Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB Phanteks Enthoo 719 WD Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 1TB WD Blue 3D SATA SSD 1TB I am also transplanting a GTX 1070 from my old build. The PC will power up - all lights and fans spin and glow, but there is NO DISPLAY SIGNAL. ALSO the DRAM light is LIT AF. What I have tried so far: Reseating the RAM sticks in every configuration. The preferred seating is A2 and B2, but I have tried both A1 and B1 aswell as only running one stick in A1, A2, B1 and B2. No change in behaviour. Plugging in additional power to the CPU. At first I only had the 8pin connector connected, but I have now also connected the additional 4pin connector. No change in behaviour. Changing GPUs and PCIe slots. I have tried both a GTX 970 and a 1070 aswell as both the top and middle PCIe lanes. The GPUs both work fine in my old PC. No change in behaviour. Flashing a newer BIOS version. I have downloaded the latest (non beta) BIOS build from ASUS and flashed it using the FLASHBACK functionality on the motherboard. Flash seemed to be successfull. No change in behaviour. Different screens and different HDMI/DVI/DP ports. I have tried pretty much every port on the back (even the ones straight from the MB even though there is no iGPU so that shouldnt work anyway). No change in behaviour. Resetting the CMOS. I shorted the CLRTC pins for 5-10 seconds as per the manual. No change in behaviour. I am also pretty sure that the RAM is certified as compatible with the MB/CPU. The product ID for the RAM is: F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC. I am ripping my hair out and just straight up not having a great time. I loved building my previous PC in 2014, and this one is built to specially for CP2077 - I HOPE I can fix it in time! I am super thankfull for every reply here - even if it might not fix it, please contribute! I ending this post with a quote that I think describe my mood right now: "I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy. I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel." - Charlie Brown

Heyo! So I’ve got: - M270 SLI motherboard - i7 7700k - 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz ram (4x8) - 1060 6Gb - 750W PSU System is about 2-3 years old, but I did get it second hand. Problem: About 3-4 months ago, I moved to an apartment for college. The car drive seemed to shake some things about and upon arriving at school, the computer would endlessly go into a boot cycle, where it’d boot for about a second, fail, then try again 3-4 seconds later to no avail, endlessly. Eventually figured out it was a RAM issue, reseated the RAM repeatedly until one of the tries it just worked. It then never failed again for the entire time I was in that apartment. I’ve just driven home with the PC, and lo-and-behold, the issue is now entirely back, but worse. Here are the scenarios: — all 4 sticks seated (32GB 3200MHz): Aforementioned boot cycle. EZDebug shows it flash CPU then DRAM followed by an immediate fail, and the cycle proceeds. — 2 sticks seated in either slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 | 1 stick seated anywhere: No boot cycle, however, the EZDebug light shows it flip between CPU and DRAM continuously, with about 0.5 second on CPU, and about 2 seconds on DRAM. — 2 sticks in 3 & 4 or 1 & 2: Curiously, this is the only method that seems to semi-work. The EZDebug shows that the CPU then DRAM lights go on, followed by the VGA light, then back to DRAM, then VGA, then the final light before they all go dark and the PC continues running. However, even though I can tell my GPU is receiving power (and I know for certain that it works), no video output comes out of it. Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I recently RMA my motherboard because of an issue I was having (it was a gigabyte aurous x570 elite) I got a new motherboard (gigabyte aurous b550 pro) and with this motherboard came its own problem. I plugged everything in and everything turns on, AIO, fans, etc. except the troubleshooting leds on my motherboard indicated that my DRAM memory was not working, with this problem I get no display to my monitors. I have tried: 1 stick of ram in every dimm slot two sticks of ram in every other dimm slot I have even tried four ram sticks at once nothing is working, please any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance, my computer has not worked since christmas following a snowball of problems specs: 2080ti founders edition gigabyte b550 pro MOBO 16gb (2x 8gb) ddr4 ram Ryzen 7 2700x GIGABYTE p850gm power supply (850W 80+ gold) cpu is cooled By duel fan corsair AIO 6 fans including the 2 cpu cooler fan 2 monitors, one is DVI, the other is HDMI (no response from both)

So I just recently built my first pc, it booted perfectly fine and I installed windows 10 64bit. Today I got around to installing some games and updating drivers and such. I was playing The Forest (great game so far) when my pc just shut off. Tried to boot, reset cmos, reseat ram, and currently it will get a short burst of power .. rgb prism cooler lights up and my pc won’t boot. It worked fine two hours ago. I believe it would be something along the lines of cpu overheating or motherboard short/driver issue but I am new to the pc world and have always played console. Here is the full build. Per the title.. spent an hour or so looking thru similar threads. BIOS keeps showing 3200mhz Timing/voltage looks right and I turned on XMP in the BIOS. DRAM speed only shows 1599.1mhz on the Memory tab, but then SPD tab shows 1066mhz. So is the XMP profile working or not? and trcd and trp is accurate as well. i paid for 18-18 not 20-20 Mobo is an MSI b450m mortar max. btw, its corsair vengeance rgb pro

I upgraded my CPU from an i5-8400 to an i7-9700k. I immediately got a yellow DRAM light and I tried to switch back to my old CPU but the error prevails. I unplugged everything and took it all apart. After putting my PC back together it's still here. I've been doing this for 6 hours and am just exhausted. My motherboard is ASUS strix z370-e gaming, my ssd is Samsung 1 gb, my power supply is evga 650w, my cooler is cooler master, my ram is 1x8 ballistix and a 1x32 teamgroup. I tried switching out the ram in all slots and got no results. Please help I'm tired

Hi Guys, I'm building a system and it's pretty low profile, as it's going into a rack with audio gear. To get the be quiet cooler on there, I had to remove the heatspreader for the RAM. It wasnt a hard task, as it was just double sided thermal tape... strong tape... but not a glue or anything. I just slowly peeled it off and it seemed to come away without any fuss. Unfortunately, I think I must have broken something, although I can't see what exactly. All the SMDs look absolutely fine. One of the sticks will not boot with the system at all. I have tried the RAM In another PC, and it also doesn't work there. The new PC works fine with the RAM from the existing machine, and also with just one of the sticks plugged in. it definitely worked before I took the heatspreader off (was in a working PC). I have given it a clean as best as I can with 99% alcohol and looked at everything with a little cheap microscope, and can't see anything... but no booting and the DRAM warning LED Is lit on the motherboard.. so it's not looking good. It's single sided CL14 3200 B-Die... so a bit gutted. Before I get my wallet out, is there any ideas or testing anyone can recommend?

I have a GIGABYTE B450 AORUS M (AMD Ryzen AM4/Micro ATX/M.2 Thermal Guard/HDMI/DVI/USB 3.1 Gen 2/DDR4/Motherboard) & on startup my motherboard has 4 red lights on startup on VGA/CPU/BOOT/DRAM. Often staying on VGA for longer than the others. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I also cannot play most games where my gpu temp goes past 65. When reaching that high there will only be a little amount of time before my pc abruptly shuts off. Need a bit of advice on this one. Now I've read a lot about DRAM-less SSD's being a bit poor on speed and life, but Amazon had a sale on some Kingston A400 Drives, and i couldn't resist. But the use case for the SSD is a secondary drive for data like work documents, not games, or anything large or write/read intensive... etc. very low strain. DRAM ssds were triple the price, hence why I went for one. What's people's experience with them for this kind of workload?

So Ive just changed my cpu, psu, and motherboard because some of my components were broken from my old pc. After putting them all on again my pc booted and I managed to use it for an hour, after which it suddenly turns off by itself. After trying turning it on again it failed to boot, giving a dram indicator light for a couple of seconds then to a cpu indicator light. Summary The market is still oversupplied so the price of nand flash and dram are predicted to go down about 10% in q4 2020. Quotes My thoughts I know this isn't a really exciting news compared to all the new launches but lower prices for the same product are better prices and who knows if this persists maybe things will be dirt cheap by the time I build my computer. Ok, so we all know a few years back DRAMless SSDs were not recommended in any way shape or form. But now with more and more drives going DRAMless (like the Samsung 980) are they a good deal? I am looking to buy an M.2 NVME drive to use as my main storage device and being on a budget DRAMless drives are all I can afford. (first time m.2 user here)

So i downloaded hardware info and saw that my ram was only going at 1800 MHz still even though i thought changed it to 3600 which it is supposed to go at so I went into BoIS and turned on d.o.c.p and nothing changed, so i looked around in BoIS ( i have a Asus motherboard with AMD) i found memory overclocking and put it on 3600 MHz and now the dram light is on and it refuses to go in to BoIS or start. Hi, I'm building with the Gigabyte B560 AORUS Pro AX motherboard. This is my first build. I have a seemingly DRAM issue on the red light of the motherboard. Please excuse the mess and lack of some parts, as I've been trying to find the root cause. My ram is a single stick of 16gb DDR4. In this photo, there is no ram placed as I wanted to see if DRAM would persist without the RAM stick, but it still has. Note that some fans are still not installed, as this is an earlier test to see if it'd at least boot up, but there have been no signs of life on the monitor. Here is some information about the build itself, if that would help. This is all from the Dell XPS 8940 that I have dissected, by the way- 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD +1TB SATA 7200 RPM HDD Item number: 400-BIQQ 16GB, 16Gx1, DDR4, 2933MHz Item number: 370-AGFW NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) RTX 2060 SUPER(TM) 8GB GDDR6 Item number: 490-BFUF 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700 processor(8-Core, 16M Cache, 2.5GHz to 4.9GHz) Item number: 338-BYVU If anyone could provide some insight into anything that may be wrong, I'd be really grateful!

Hi, so on my motherboard there is red light on DRAM. It all started when power outage happened, pc shuts down. Whe power outaged I turned off psu on switch, and when power came back. I turned on psu on switch and started pc, but it showed up something like Select Proper Boot Drive I think. Then I again turned on pc and got in bios, wanted to select my boot drive, and when i were selecting i missed ssd and clicked on hdd, again I tried to start pc but screen that display Asus stuff and that click "Del" to enter bios, just didnt pop up, and I ned to turn it up few times and when i entered bios and clicked on ssd, it started Automatic Repair, but got in loop, again i turn on pc and it is just windows blue logo and black background loop. Then I opened my pc saw that light, pulled out Ram and putted ram back in slot, but it wont show the display, monitor isnt activating on pc startup. Then I couldnt shut down pc on button, I need to switch it off or to hold on button. Also when i click on button to turn on, it starts, turns off itself and turn on again itself. Think it had some type of smell, and baddest thing that on site where is info about power outages of my city, there was no my street...

Starting yesterday, I've had this issue where, after about 15 minutes of playing a game and having discord open, sometimes with Brave window open, my PC will freeze, cut to black, and leave me with a 0d error and a yellow DRAM light. The first time it happened, I was emulating a game through Xenia and watching a YouTube video, then it froze and blue-screened, which is very odd as I've never had that happen with this build. Since then, after cutting power via the PSU switch, I've had my current problem with no blue-screen while playing Destiny 2. I've tried updating my BIOS, reinstalling Windows, swapping DRAM slots, but the problem persists. I am at a complete loss as to what caused this or how to fix it. Does anyone know of a potential fix or do I just have to get new hardware? Thanks Specs: ASUS ROG Crosshair Hero VIII wifi (BIOS ver 4201) G.skill Trident Z neo 32GB 3600 CL16-19-19-39 Ryzen 7 5800x RTX 3080 FE EVGA G3 1000w PSU noctua cooling Windows 11, latest updates built around late 2020/early 2021 UPDATE: I still don't know what is causing this issue, but I don't think its something with PC's hardware, as I've started having the same problem on my laptop (MSI Raider GE76, intel i7 12700H, RTX 3080, 16GB RAM). Could it be an electrical issue? I have no idea, please help

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x GPU: EVGA 2080 Super MOBO: Aorus B550 Elite v1 DRAM: 16 GB G Skill Ripjaws DDR4-3600 Most recent benchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/51828379#Intent;action=open_link;launchFlags=0x10000000;component=com.opera.gx/.MainActivity;end I need help figuring out why my computer is stuck at running my ram at 2133 rather than 3600 as advertised. Things I have tried: I have switched ram channels from A2 and B2 to A1 and B1 to see if anything changed. I double/triple checked that X.M.P 3600 was set. I have also updated BIOS to be the latest version provided by Gigabyte I cannot, for the life of me, figure what is going wrong. I'm not sure if it's my MOBO or DRAM at fault here.

specs, intel 11700f corsair hx750 psu 4x 8gb 2666mhz kingston fury ram nvidia 1660ti (going to be upgraded to a 3070) msi 590z pro wifi motherboard some 512gb m.2 ssd i took old main computer was a alienware aurours a11, i have taken the cpu from the computer and got more components to make a better pc that cna be upgraded further down the line, issue the current problem i have is that the orange dram light keeps flashing back and forth with a red cpu light, it does this a couple times, then switches to a solid orange dram light. different ram sticks in different slots seem to change the behaviour of the the flashing, as two work in the furtheset slot without any red cpu light, one works in the third slot and the other has a constant cycle of the two lights. i have resettled the cpu many times, the cpu is clean on the contact pads , i have cleaned the ram with no change to outcome. i have litterally zero clue what the issue could be as i have looked at loads of youtube videos and formus with no change on the outcome, if anyone has any suggestions that would help
