Is anyone else experiencing white screen issues like the attached in doom on pc? i'm running an i7 4790k and an R9 390 with the game's graphics setting set to low as it struggles to stay at 60 frames otherwise.

I just downloaded and tried to play doom. But I get in game and then about 45 seconds later it just crashes with no error report or anything. Just dissapears and shows me whatever was under doom when I launched it. I have tried verifying files and restarting my pc and neither of these have fixed the issue. My pc can handle doom. (i5 4690k and a 390) Thanks for the help! let me know if there are any other things I can do to troubleshoot this.

So after reading the Steam forums, reviews, and official articles, I have come to a conclusion that the player-base for all games is nothing more than a pile of elephant shit these days. It's the same, now it sucks They changed it, now it sucks Unpleasable Fanbase Why fandom can't have nice things These are the things why video game designers are so goddamn frustrated with their player-base. It's like the players demand 1,001+ features at the same time in a game, or even move forward with a game franchise, or how "we are the greatest reviewers on Earth". They voiced their frustrations in every possible place possible (Including, but not limited to: blog posts and conferences). They're going "what the fuck! How can we make these people happy with our sequel of our (insert game) game?" DOOM is trying to compete with the more bigger titles like Battlefield and Call of Duty. This is not an easy feat at all. There is your older player-base who indeed played DOOM and DOOM II: Hell on Earth, and your newer generation player-base. Trying to make DOOM play out like the older DOOM games isn't going to cut it at all. So is trying to make it play out like the newer games. So the developers at id Software behind DOOM has to find their middle ground one way or the other. So they took the classic gun-play and added some modern appointments (such as mantling/vaulting, double-jumping, and the melee execution system known as 'Glory Kills' which you don't have to do. It's optional) to the game to bring it up to date. The sad truth is that both camps aren't going to be happy, and you can't please everyone whatsoever. It's been proven that if people try to please everyone, they simply will fall out of the spotlight, like authors retiring altogether. And this is why we, as fanboys of our favorite game franchises, can't have nice things, because we act like a bunch of salty, unruly 12 year old's. Right now as it stands, I am taking the side of the developers because they're the ones shouldering all of this unnecessary bullshit we have thrown at them. And this is why we, as fanboys of our favorite game franchises, are the ones at fault for the most part, because they try to improve the game by taking in our lame criticisms that's nothing short of bitching and whining. And at the end of the day, we still shit on them. What kind of logic is that? To me, it makes literally no sense whatsoever! We criticize the developers. They improved their game with our input. And we shit on them after the fact. This is a sad tale of why we, as fanboys of our favorite game franchises, don't get nice things at all. This generation's misbegotten player-base has gone to all Hell. That's all I have to say about it. The bottom line is if you want something nice, don't bitch and whine. How hard is that? If you're going to criticize, be: a) civil, b) rational, and above all, c) constructive! Criticism can only maintain its form. That is until it turns into nagging and ranting, which gets us nowhere at all. I do apologize if this came out far too scathing for your taste, but I just want to write this up on the current state of player bases in general, and how horrible they've become. I also wanted to voice my frustration with player's logic and reasoning for why they've become they way they are because, as a video game developer student, I have to face this too. If you have questions or concerns, please PM me. Don't post them in the comments section. That's for the comments/opinions only. What do you have to say about it @LinusTech and @Slick?

I currently have an AMD Radeon 7950 GPU. It is the only bottleneck in my system and I need a new GPU for Doom coming out May 13th as well as VR support for the future when I can get my hands on a Vive. I want a NVIDIA GPU for my next card and I am wondering what you guys think would suit me best for this game as well as VR carrying out into the future. The GTX 970 or the 980Ti? I'm still not sure if I want to spend twice as much money to get a little extra performance. I am currently gaming at 1080p but I would like to run Doom at max settings.

I need an appropriate refresher on how ID rolled out DOOM 3 during its year of release. I've been told by some people that at the time the game was released, not a lot of videocards were able to run it right. Yeah, the 4th one's gonna go for open beta next week and Beth hasn't made any final decisions on what's truly the expected specs for the game. I'm being cautious, even though recent videos on the 4th's closed beta seem optimistic in that the 970 can really run the game.

Source OC3D: http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/doom_closed_alpha_requirements_announced/1 So, now that closed alpha release is commencing for DOOM's reboot the required specifications are out. Considering the amount of terribly written requirement specifications I have seen that's not bad. However notice how once again a FX-8350 in minimum= a FX 8350 recommended.....

The Nasty Experience: DOOM & DOOM II: Hell on Earth After the LinusTechTips and TekSyndicate HighLANder videos constantly appearing in my auto playlists, The thought of playing DOOM had slowly wiggled into the back of my squishy brain. I finally decided that it was time for me to finally experiment with this so called gem so I could formally denounce it to annoy the internet. I had played the tiniest amount of DOOM a couple of years back when I nicked DOOM 3: BFG Edition on a Steam Sale. However it became just another unplayed victim to my wallets sale casualties. My experience with it was rushed and uninvested, This was during a time when I would live in hotel rooms more than my own house leaving my midtower Desktop PC at home in the corner to cry as I played games in hotels with a silly selection of Xbox 360 games. So Quakecon 2014 happened, Well I wasn't there, I was too busy being a convict in Australia our whatever it is we do down here. Apparently a secret auditorium viewing of Doom 4 had popped its head up with fanboys hyping it as if it could cure the all worlds diseases and transcend it into a utopian state covered in chocolate. Me however not biting onto it one bit because I simply took it as a childhood nostalgia machine pumping out a sequel for future wallets to become Steam Sale victims. So finally I cleared my desk, ready to ingest the world most overhyped game with a smug content look on my rose cheeked face ready to tear this game apart… And you know what… I had a blast... New Game > Knee-Deep in the Dead > Hurt me Plenty. First I was greeted with the sound of some sort of midi heavy metal soundtrack sounding like a snes game going through a strange teenage emo phase. Then it begun, I went out running and gunning enemies with only a one handed pea shooter that dealt enough damage to 2 shot most enemies but felt like the pistol did as much damage to those demon yetis as a friendly pat on the back. On reflection, The whole start with a pea shooter is a great way to make unthreatening enemies appear threatening, A lot of the smaller enemies throughout the game act more like cannon fodder, a way to somewhat reward a player for exploring places they haven't been, as well as subtly implying they are in the right direction. *Hur Dur I'm a Demon Yeti* I’m not going to lie the shotgun is almost too much fun, I'm surprised that Zynga hasn't tried to buy it out it and made some sort of cookie clicker clone of it. Ducking left and right as I satisfyingly squee when one-shotting bunches of pixelated demon yeti into chocolate and jam floor pudding. The game is strangely quick, fun and snappy as you circle strafe around slow high damage projectiles, guns blazing and dancing with the opponents in front of you. Once you get it in your hands it feels quite natural. I found myself in the most intense firefights ducking and weaving my head around the bullets coming at me from the screen, much to my Girlfriend’s giggling enjoyment. Floor Pudding [Not Edible] Stronger enemies along with stronger weapons are slowly introduced, As you break out and rocket launcher to greet the new life forms by constantly failing everything that the First Contact classes at Starfleet have taught you. Lets face it, Are they fun to shoot? Yes... Do they scare you when they go ooga booga when you mindlessly dash through the room to pick up a free health kit? At first... Its not as much of a scary set of games its more like a fun thriller when you walk into a room and three strong opponents appear from secret doors and launch their flaming hearts at your innocent baby face. However after the first time you get screwed over from these surprise demon bashings you treat each suspicious item and path the same way you treat a every chest in Dark Souls after being eaten alive by your first mimic surprise. Know the Risk The story is flat out much more approachable than most of the multi-cutscene scripted shooters of today. Your go to mars and one of the scientists spill their coffee on the radioactive hamster or something and a portal to hell is formed. You see demons make a great fit for bad guys you don't need to create some elaborate back story about someone hitting their pet dog or anything, They just come in and want to burn you. I'm not saying all games should abandon storylines for the sole purpose of focusing on gameplay but ID Software seemed to know its strengths when it came to DOOM. Their Gameplay trumped their Story and from the looks of the way the game is set up they knew that. Quick story text blurbs don't drag on, once complete you're ready to remove more demons from the world. The Visuals get a pass by me even without considering with the age of the game, I was constantly finding myself able to look into a room and know what I had in store for me without much guess work on what pixel sprites do what, and the size and detail in some of the bigger enemies still makes you turn the corner and go nope.avi. I had great fun playing DOOM and DOOM II through to the end, If you're on the glorious PC Master Race and haven't played it, I strongly suggest buying or family sharing yourself a copy and check it out. DOOM and DOOM II get NastyJerk’s Play This Certification. [They could probably put this on the box art] What are your thoughts? Have you played it? Do you disagree? Let me know!

A nice twist on the standard interview, John Romero replays Doom and gives us an in-depth history on many parts of the game. It was a good interview; you get to find out how The Legend of Zelda help influence Doom. http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/12/10/we-play-doom-with-john-romero

source: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Doom-2016-Spiel-56369/Specials/Benchmark-Test-1195242/ I will skip the quotes, since .. german, and jump directly into the benchmarks: 1080p: 1440p: UHD: something to note: on AMD's hardware, Doom uses the OpenGL 4.3 API / and for nVidia's GTXs, OpenGL 4.5 if you recall one ValvE's developer rant about OpenGL state http://richg42.blogspot.ro/2014/05/the-truth-on-opengl-driver-quality.html specifically about AMD: are AMD's OpenGL drivers so bad? if history taught us something, yes they are - this might be the reasoning behind id's decision to use an older OpenGL version to run on Radeons things will (most likely) take a different turn when Vulkan support will be added to Doom
