This seems like something that could be very useful for frequent international flyers, with the ability to save information so that the form doesnt have to be filled out every time. This trial is currently only for departures and still requires a customs office to look through the printed version of the card. Hello, I really dislike, when I need other apps to run and install games that I purchased. I like to just get an installation file/s and be able to install them whenever and wherever I like, so I won´t be reliant on some 3rd party tool after every OS reinstall. I was really happy when I discovered GOG.com, since it does just that, but the range of titles they offer is quite limited, so I would like to ask, are there any other services like that? Thanks :-) .

Hey For Christmas I am building a PC. All parts are ordered consisting of a MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr 2gb GPU, and have arrived safe! The reason for this post is that I recently realised that the 1920x1080 Samsung monitor I have, only utilises a single VGA output. My question is, will I notice a difference in quality in comparison to if I was using a HDMI cable. Another option I thought of was to buy a HDMI to VGA adapter an use that, allowing me to utilise the card's HDMI output. I realise that this just turns the digital signal to analogue via the adapter convertor but I had a feeling this would help in some way as analogue signal can degrade. Thanks

So it's 2014 and digital content has become extremely popular in the format of services like netflix, amazon streaming etc. And while that happens games also are as practical as ever on Steam. In the case of games it's something I can agree and be happy about. It's more practical, still the same gaming experience, doesn't scratch. But what does bother me is content like movies and series. As much as you downloading a movie on iTunes in HD or watching it on Netflix on HD or Amazon streaming service in HD or even download a pirated movie in mkv in full HD blu-ray rip( for the sake of considering all options) is/canbe a really good experience it's not the same as blu-ray. Linus has said so many times in his vids how physical media is dead and all but all the digital options that i mentioned includes compression that doesn't match Blu-ray quality. Besides compression there's also the matter of higher audio quality like dts 7.1 and dolby surround in Blu-ray.And if you ignore the physical space it takes to store and if you are careful not to scratch the disc there is that really nice feeling to hold in your hands and feel the movies and series you are collecting. Anyway I would like to hear the community's thoughts on the subject.

Hey Guys, First of all if this is in the wrong forum please move it. Now, i have just built a system with an H105 in a Bitfenix Prodigy, the fans on this thing (the corsair) are worse even in comparison with a ceiling fan. For now I want to drop their RPM below 1k, atm they run around 1500ish. But as it seems i cant do it from the Sysfan 1 header. I tried FanSpeed and all that staff but nothing works. So I though of buying a digital fan controller like the NZXT Grid+ (which i cant find in Europe), do you have any alternatives to propose? Hopefully I will upgrade to some nice Noctua NFF12s in the coming weeks but till then I think my ear drums will explode. Im think of buying one of those two HDDs but I dont know which. They have exactly the same parameters like storage, cashe, RPMs, and SATA3 the only difference (I think it is one) is the different manufacturers so could you give me some advice. Thanks in advance.

So in photography wise film vs. digital has been a ongoing war and what not both with advantages and disadvantages. I myself think that one should start with a full manual Film camera and work your way to Digital to really appreciate what both sides have to offer. But I want to know what you think. Should film photography hold its place as a starting point? Or should Digital rule all. My input is I truly love film since its a much harder way to take photos and plus the quality of Film images is way better than any Digital picture.

Hello, I originally had a WD blue 500gb where I stored all my data, then I purchased a 2tb Seagate drive where I started to save the games I was downloading from steam. It worked fine for a while, but now, the games I stored on the Seagate HDD seem unreachable and Steam says I have to install them again. I tried to move my STEAM folder from Program filesx86 from the WD to the Seagate drive. Nothing seems to work....help me please. I have 37 games and I can't download all of them again.

Does anyone know If G2Play is any good, and are they legit? Their prices are almost too good ;) Anyway, feel free to recommend other good sites to buy PC games from. I currently use Steam + GMG + Gamersgate.

I found this in my internet travels: http://ukie.org.uk/content/first-official-uk-games-industry-digital-sales-chart-debuts It's nice to see an official game sales chart which actually takes download sales into account (or in this case is entirely focused on them). So many times I've seen sales charts which have a PC section on them, but have a * which says that it "doesn't include downloaded games". Which is a pretty sizeable chunk of PC games sales, afaik. It's not perfect ofc, as they get information from publishers; this means that indie games, or games from a publisher which they don't have figures from wouldn't be on there, but hopefully this is going to lead to digital game sales actually making it into more well publicised sales charts.

I'm curious as to what the advantages are to a digital power supply (namely, the Corsair AXi series). I realize there's Corsair Link. But seeing as I likely will never have other components compatible with Corsair Link in my system, it doesn't really appeal to me. And as for monitoring power usage and stuff......eh. The AX and AXi series both have 80 Plus Platinum certification (at 760/860W) so efficiency isn't the concern. Are there other more technical reasons why one should go with a digital power supply over one that isn't? (Granted, the AX860 and AX860i only differ by $10 on Amazon right now, so I guess you might as well get the digital version anyway...I'm still curious, though. :P)

I have a 3tb external drive (Mybook from WD) and inside its a green drive I'm sure. I have it shared on homegroup from my desktop but every ten minutes if its not accessed it will sleep, and disconnect itself from homegroup. (So if I want to watch a movie of the drive on my laptop, I have to go to my desktop and "wake up" the drive before my laptop can access it. The sleep mode can't be fixed with any WD software or power options in Windows through device manager so I'm using a program called NoSleepHD or KeepAliveHD, which basically writes an empty file every ten minutes to keep the drive from going into power save mode. Will a program that keeps the HD running 24/7 reduce the longevity of my drive? I keep backups on it..

Hey guys, so apperantly my 2 y/o external hard drive is dying. It's this WD 1 TB 2.5" drive. I use it to back up my data and store the full system backups, that i created using Acronis . I first noticed something was wrong by the transferspeeds of ~5 MB/s through USB 3.0. It also takes abnormally long for the PC to detect the drive and actions like right click on some data or copy paste take longer than normal. So i tried to backup my HDD to my internal drive and reformat it. But while backing up it failes on (only) 2 datas everytime. Unfortunatley those 2 datas are the only backups that exist of my PC, very shortly after I've installed windows etc. on it. - So later when i wanted to reinstall i could just use those backups instead of reinstalling everything. -. The error message is: [german]"die quelldatei oder vom quelldatenträger kann nicht gelesen werden" which freely translated means "the source data or from the source drive can't be read" So i did some testing with HD Tune which, despite my observations, says that everything should be fine, see files attached. I also tried chkdsk /f /r, which took for eeeeever (not 24h for ever but 24 years for ever) so i aborted that. So do you know a proper repair program for such cases. Also how do i get those two backups off there without damaging them and without spending a fortune on some hard drive recovery specialists. -Meow

I was wondering if does exist something (software or hardware) that makes on windows 8 the same effect that the enhancement Dolby Digital has on the Lumia series... Thanks, EMENCII

Post at /. ... This doesn't bode well. Hopefully they can get these bugs fixed ASAP and get everything back up to normal. I'm still mining away personally, as I expect this to go away once the bugs are indeed fixed. It's sad that DDoS' are being abused so much these days. I'm hoping someone comes up with a way to fix it soon. I know, I know. It probably can't be fixed because of it's nature, or the required investment needed to fix it, but still. I can hope. Maybe I should move to a different exchange. The big ones seem to be more dangerous now even though they are more established. Or sell my coin on Ebay. That's an option. What do my fellow miners think?

I have recently set up a home server which I am using for central storage, backup and ftp as well as domain controller, DHCP and DNS. I currently have a WD 3TB Red drive for main important storage that backs up some of the files to an external 1.5TB USB3 WD drive. 2 WD 500GB black drives (setup as virtual 1TB drive) 2.5 WD 1TB blue and a WD 640GB green. Regardless of the current drives i'm looking at setting up a RAID with a dedicated card. Basically i would just like recommendations for RAID cards around £70-80 and HDD's for 3TB+ on RAID 5. (eg four 1TB drives or three 2TB drives) Server hardware; Asus Gryphon z87, Intel CT Gigabit NIC, Intel G3430, 8GB Vengeance RAM (taken from my gaming rig :L) Samsung 256GB 840 EVO + all them other drives i listed earlier What about this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ADAPTEC-ASR-3805-128MB-8-PORT-SAS-RAID-CONTROLLER-CARD-PCI-E-HBA-/291005765884?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_InterfaceCards&hash=item43c14b98fc

Hi! My system will only contain 2x WD Black 1002 FAEX 1TB 64MB HDDs. I wonder which raid I should set them in, 1 for securing my files or 0 for double the speed(?) and having 2 TB of storage on the "same" drive. Yes I know "you should have an SSD for boot drive and storage for apps etc" but my case doesnt really support that. Sure it got a drive bay or whatever able to contain 6 2.5" drives, but I removed it to make the wiring a ton times easier (curse the cube cases). But seriously, which RAID should I use? Thanks beforehand.

Hey guys, i think about getting a NAS for christmas, since my external HDD died on me quite some time ago. I need it for -my backups (300 GB laptop, 60 GB PC SSD, 400 GB PC HDD) + backing up other stuff + other media files. -university stuff (generally just a personal cloud would be useful) I also want to be abled to access it from all around the world, to e.g. make backups at home and upload them to my NAS that stands in my other home where i study. A good mobile app for accessing, managing and if possible sending data is also important to me. budget is around 250 €. I will run RAID 1 and want at least 2 TB of storage. cheers

Hi, so I just recently ordered myself a new external HDD from western digital, one of those passport ones (small handy dandy ones). I put another backup of my files on the new one, and it blew me away how fast that one was compared to my old one. They're both USB3, however the first one is a 1TB model from 2011, and my last one is a 2TB from this year. Why is the performance so different? The new one reached speeds of over 110 MB/s where the old one barly manages to hit 65 MB/s.

Hello I am having issues with my Western Digital 4TB Black Hard Drive that I recently bought from Ebuyer, it sometimes only detects it in IDE mode while my boot hard drive is in AHCI mode, and when it does it does not show its capacity (unformatted?). Image of the Drive Installed: http://imgur.com/a/ePIcl When it is connected it makes a weird noise, not the "Death" noise but a sort of light beep. It says on the HDD to not cover any of the drive holes, but the drive holes are technically covered with the silver stickers, I am not sure if that is the issue. In POST it takes a while to finish with the drive connect and I have experienced several errors: Primary Slave Drive Failure AHCI 0 Device Failure (And not really an error but) It detected it as a Tape Drive. So is it a dud? Because I am really (without swearing) annoyed as my boot drive messed up with the patronising ":(xDDDDD screen of annoyance" (I want to punch whoever made that BSOD screen) requiring me to Refresh my System (which basically means "Oh hay guiz let uz jst remove ALL of your applications instead of just scaning and repairing the corrupted file!") meaning that I have to reinstall all of my applications. The reason: Because I had the audacity to press the restart button on my chassis while at the desktop.

Polygon game got word on the pricing for XBox One games from a Microsoft representative who said: It does not seem like they would carry a lower price tag or special offers for digital copy which several people (such as TotalBiscuit and Penny Arcade) were arguing would be an advantage for digital distribution similar to the case of Steam. That said that statement seems to be the only source of their information so we definitely need to hear more details. Not that MS hasn't made any stupid mistakes lately, but they must have something planned which attempts to make digital more compelling than physical... Source: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Xbox-One-Physical-Digital-Games-Carry-59-99-Price-Tag-56761.html Update: AJ just published an interview with Major Nelson, he discussed the possibility of offers similar to steam being available from XBox Live (starting 08:38). Whether it is to the extent of steam sales or not, the information given is still very vague (which is understandable at this stage).

I know the guns in close quarters DLC get camo (LSAT AND AUG Etc.) but i have one critical question do you need to be premium to unlock them or just do some challenges?
-
This is a mighty fine case, not going to lie. Glass is far more premium than acrylic or poly ever will be, of course it adds weight and its not cheap once it breaks, but it looks classy and it works in this case. Of course this won't be cheap, no you can't buy it on your own unless someone at Digital Storm really likes you. Who cares, its gorgeous. If I had the scratch I would go for it. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2905353/digital-storms-new-bolt-3-adds-a-sexy-edge-to-edge-glass-door.html This post has been promoted to an article
