I am planning to buy a mobile workstation for my daily workflows, occasional 4K editing and a lot of Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign.. I do not have a lot of money to spend on a laptop (~1500$). I looked over the internet and I found the mid 2014 model with the NVIDIA card and a 512GB SSD... This should be the best choice for me, I think. What's your opinion guys, is it worth it nowadays, should I opt for something else? Another great choice for me would be the 2015 Dell XPS 15 with the 1080p panel - is it okay for print ready work? I've searched online and it covers 95% of sRGB, but I couldn't find how much it covers from the Adobe color spectrum. Which panel is better? The 4K display would be a far better alternative, but my pocket is really crying at this moment. Thanks!

My case is a Fractal design R5, and this is going to be my first ever build. Well, I'm not personally building it, and am having it professionally built for me. Here is the full part list (Everything is up-to-date with what I've purchased/pre-ordered): https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/sdTwZ8 Picture is of the layout that I think might work? Just a head-sup: I unfortunately am cursed with non-verbal learning disability, which makes it incredibly difficult for me to explain things. It's also difficult for me to process large amounts of information at once; it takes me much longer to learn something than others would. Question: So since the cooling setup is the last stage of my planning, I'm hoping you guys could give me in point form/instruction-like format, (if the setup looks correct) what I should be telling/showing the guy. The reason why I mentioned my learning disability is because giving him a list of instructions would be the best way for me to convey what I want done. So, I guess look at my setup, and tell me what I should give him. Picture is of the layout that I think might work (I already own one AF 140mm fan): On a side note: Despite this section being cooling, I figured that a side question that maybe, kinda, sorta belongs in another topic, could be quickly answered here. The question is this: Will I need to be buying any extra cables, considering all the parts of my build? If so, could you list what I'd need? Thaaaank youuu. P.S Despite having a learning disability, I've accepted how I am, but I still always do feel terrible about how I make things harder than they should be for other people. So, I just wanted to thank you guys in advance. I genuinely appreciate all the help I can get.

Hi there, I recently decided that I wanted to learn about programming and I'm looking for suggestions on where to begin. I have started looking into different topics but the vast scope and numerous languages are somewhat terrifying. I have been using Apple computers for several years now. I gave up Windows because I couldn't stand them any longer but my growing impatience with Apple inspired me to take some time to learn about computers. I recently ordered a new MacBook and was going to recycle the old one but now I'm thinking to hold onto it while I play with programming to run bootcamp if need be. My goals are: 1. Understand how the OS works 2. Learn the difference between languages and what each are used best for 3. Apply simple coding and design I guess the "shoot for the stars" question is how do I create my own operating system and programs for consumers? I Don't have the time to go to school for several years so I'm looking for a way I can learn this in the evenings and weekend.

I remember seeing this a couple year back, looks like design is now finalised and it will start to ship to backers in mid-July. They claims that the mixture of 16 different types of lens (each with a smartphone-like sensor) will be able to produce DSLR quality images. As a photographer myself I feel a little skeptic that the combination of the lenses will produce images worthy of the $1,699 price tag. For reference that would get you a Fujifilm X-T2, a top of the range mirror-less with interchangeable lenses. Then again I guess this is aimed more at the high-end consumer looking for a DSLR-quality point and shoot. From an engineering point of view what they're doing in software is similar to what Apple has done in its dual lens setup or Google's HDR+ in the Pixel. Essentially capturing a load of information then fusing it in software. I'm guessing the tele-photo lenses are for minor detail whilst the wide-angle and fast lenses are for the framing and bokeh. Sample images from the company: http://captured.light.co/mostly-cuba Community blog pointing out flaws in processing here: http://lightrumors.co/2017/04/14/new-light-l16-images-from-cuba-oh-the-dynamic-range-and-the-narrow-depth-of-field/ How it works by Wired (From 2015): https://www.wired.com/2015/10/light-l16-camera/ More pictures of the device Full Specifications

I am well aware that this is a highly subjective topic but I just think that some basic principles of design seem to be violently brocken with these motherboard designs. About my own taste: I am not against colour but I usually prefere something subtile and organized. It might come as a surprise but I don't acctually caer to much about the colour of my stuff. I have a MSI Z77-GD65 which is brown/blue with a mix of 2x Kingston HyperX RAM in blue and 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX with a Gainward GTX 1080 Phoenix (red ...) which I bought for performance and great cooler not the colour. In the back of my Fractal Design Define R4 sits a poop-brown Noctua NF-S12A and I bought windowed sidepanel after the fact. When it is dark I don't see it that much but i will be starring at my screens anway. Why do I care? -Idk, I just see a lot of people caring and despite the fact of not caring feel that i have a sense of what a well desinged board looks like. In the end I felt the need to ask some more people like you if feel the same way. Additionally Jayztwocents recently made a video with a strawpol under it asking if we would rather buy neutral looking gear. I would if the performance wasn't a compromise but it usually is and feel like neutral doesn't meant whatever the hell some of these manufacturers do with their 'neutral' black/white/grey/silver boards. I would like to know if you guys feel the same about these motherboard or is is just me? CAUTION, spoiler below is huge. If you are just here to simply the ask me why I care please do me a favor and just ignore this post and move on. I would really like to hear your opinion in this topic though.

Hi, this is my first build ever, but as I'm still learning about components and all that, I'm going to be having this computer built for me. What I wanted to know is what fans should I get and any extension cables I'd be needing; updating the PC part picker list would be great. I want to try and keep things under $100 CAD. One important thing to know is that my computer, during summer, will be running in a room that goes up to 85F/29.4C and my PC will be in a fairly cramped space due to lack of room on desk. I should also note that the back of the case will unfortunately be backed against the rear wall of my desk (about 7" away), right where my power bar is. I know that there's air intake, but I don't know if it would be better to blow the hot air out. If you wanted to know what I plan to be doing with the computer: Potentially overclocking (safe amount) both the GPU and the CPU; this computer is solely for gaming. What I also wanted to know is what I should exactly tell the builder for how I should set everything up, and a quick diagram drawn in paint; think of it as kind of a script. the reason why I say exactly is because I have nonverbal learning disability, which is basically minor autism without the social awkwardness. So since I have NLD, it makes it very difficult for me to explain things verbally without rambling on, over complicating things, and just missing the point entirely. Now that I think about it, if I were to just be given a list of things to tell him instead of a script, that'd be great, too. Sorry for needing so much detailed information; I've just never done it before. Watching videos on how to do things is pretty hard for me since things are normally explained partially verbally, with some demonstrations, which is something I have trouble retaining. My current parts that I have: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QTQBYr Picture is of interior for the paint diagram.

<?php include_once "removed.php"; $user = $conn -> real_escape_string($_SESSION['username']); $query = "SELECT * FROM REMOVED WHERE removed ='$user' AND removed='1'"; $result = $conn -> query($query); if(!$result){ die($conn -> error); } else { $row = $result -> num_rows; for ($i = 0; $i < $row; ++$i) { $result -> data_seek($i); $row = $result -> fetch_array(MYSQLI_ASSOC); ?> <h4><?= $row['Group_name'];?></h4> <?php } } mysqli_close($conn); ?> So this code that I have written has given me one issue it successfully creates the <h4> element with the $row data. However, it also creates an empty <h4> element as well. I only have one entry in the database for test purposes.

Does anyone know of some good reading or videos that talk about fundamental aspects of games? Like why people play games. Why some games do better than others. What do 'good' games capitalize on to make players 'want' to play the game? Why do people spend hours and hours playing games like Kerbal? I mean it's fun, but why is it fun? There's no real 'endgame', there's no competition, etc.. Why do people decide to put effort into improving their skills when they don't really seem to get anything out of it? Why do I play and greatly enjoy games like Half-life when I know the story is already planned out? I'd love some stuff that talks about this sort of thing. Gives examples, ways to apply it to video game design, etc.. Hell if you want to give your 2 cents I'll read that too. I've been working on a game. I have all the gameplay 'mechanics' layed out and a good story. I think it'll be fun and all, but it's like having built CS:GO without having ranks. Most people wouldn't give a s***.

Hello people from LTTF, how are you? I am in need of some help today. I am a designer and i've recently been moving around far more than normal with not much time to spend at home, and since most of my work is digital based not being able to work while i'm away really affects my workflow. I've been looking to purchase a laptop to use on a daily basis with programs such as Cinema 4D, Illustrator, After Effects and such. I don't know much at what i should choose as i've seen and been told too many different things from people. I was wondering if you could help me find a laptop, my budget is rather large, however i'd prefer to stay under the £5000 mark. Normally the renders are not super complex but from time to time there will be a heavy load which i'd like to take down fairly quickly. Can any of you name me a few options i could choose from? I'm excluding Mac Book Pro's from the beginning as i am not very comfortable with them, thank you very much.

I have this configuration, shown on the image made through partpicker.com, so the thing is i can´t decide which motherboard is better for it, i checked some of them like Asus Z170-A ATX DDR4 or Gigabyte Z170X- Gaming 3, but i want the best option that my 150$ budget for a MoBo can afford. * I intend to use my PC mainly for design programs, like Revit, AutoCAd, 3D max, and Lumion (main reason for the gaming configuration), ocassional gaming and some Adobe's programs. knowing that, i got a question: Will this configuration run all of them?. I already have bought all except the MoBo, so if my configuration it wasn't very accurate for my purpose at least advise me with the MoBo, so later i can update and optimize it.

I've always been fascinated about how a single person could make cool games. I myself have many ideas for a videogame but find some areas harder to fulfill. I'm a computer science student with already some practice so programming isn't a problem on any game engine. I don't have problems designing the videogames either. The main problem I find is the art. Animations, 2D/3D designs, backgrounds... I'm pretty useless at drawing and I don't own or know how to use a drawing/designing program. I'm currently trying to learn Blender by myself, but it feels so massive to start with that I'm getting a little desperate. So I was wondering if you guys knew about some free program for desiging/drawing sprites or animations for videogames because there aren't either any artists round my area so I have to do everything on my own. As always, thanks in advance

So I wasnt really sure where to put this on the forums so Mods, if you feel this is inappropriately place I apologize and feel free to move it So I'm kindof stuck...I have a ZOTAC 980 Amp edition [gray metal shroud orange fans] and an ASUS Z97-A motherboard. I want to move to custom sleeved cables and I have a bunch of RGB LEDs throughout my case and in my peripherals but I cannot decide on a color scheme to go with..I'm using a 3-color idea right now of LTT Orange/ NVIDIA Green/ Deep Blue but I wanna cut it out to 2 colors, some combination that is very uncommon because I wanna take my rig to LAN parties in the near future. This color scheme may eventually extend to the exterior of my case as well with Cablemod exterior cables and with custom case painting on my Cooler Master HAF EVO XB case

Hi All, Planning a build for my wife with about $2000-$2500 as the budget. By trade she is a Textile Designer and currently does 3D design / rendering in which she wants to do some of this on the side for a potential home business. Computer Usage = Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Textile CAD and come casual gaming (CSGO) This build won't be used for 3D design or rendering. Her computer @ work is running 2 Quadro M6000 ($4000 a piece!!!) Here is what I've been looking at so far. Any suggestions? I'd like to stay with Intel for the CPU but open other brands/options on the other components. Anything else that I need to keep in mind or consider would be helpful as well. Hi, with Black Friday deals coming up, I am looking for a new case to put my ATX system in. Nothing special: air-cooled, single GPU; HDD, SSD, BRD-Drive. I will also buy a new after market cooler, so I am flexible with clearance, I would prefer a larger case with more room, though. I'm looking for an understated aesthetic; black/grey with optional colour highlights (e.g. BeQuiet silent base, BitFenix Colossus) I don't need a side panel window, LEDs or anything. I'd rather invest in dust filters, a roomy interior and maybe sound-dampening. Budget: <100€ (or ~100$, prices are generally similar) Any ideas? What do you think are my best options? Thanks

Hey, readers. I'd like to know your opinions between these two laptops I've chosen as my finals. I wanna know your experience with MSI and HP laptops, what issues they have, benefits and etc. As a designer, these two laptops are my conclusions mainly because of their displays which is important for doing colour accurate works and they're just around RM6000 / $1500 USD which is actually my budget. For the moment, I don't need to know of other laptop recommendations that you guys have because, I just wanna focus on these two right now. What attracts me about these laptops: GE62 - Full sRGB coverage with true colour calibration Omen - The option to upgrade to a 120Hz display or 4K (if the display isn't good enough for me) They're also not that ugly. Cheaper compared to Surface Book 2 and MacBook pro...obviously. The only thing that turns me off about MSI laptops are the bloatware which I might need to do a clean Windows 10 install. This version also has an optical drive which some users mentioned it affects cooling and whatnot? https://mystore.msi.com/product/ge62vr-7re-052my-apache-pro-gtx-1050ti-4gb-gddr5/ http://h20386.www2.hp.com/MalaysiaStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=ECC_BUNDLE_6599860&opt=&sel=NTB&p=c-omen Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Hey guys, I couldn't figure if this belongs here, but anyway. I am searching for a "tablet arm" or similar for my wacom intuos 4 drawing tablet, do you know if this kind of stuff exists? I don't like when I have to move my tablet awkwardly around my keyboard at my too small desk, and also as a leftie the tablet placement is kind of problematic when doing mockups/drawing/editing etc. Some notebook "cooling stands" are a known fix for the angle of the device, like in this reddit thread about drawing tablet stands I am living on a limited deskspace currently, due to the number of peripherals I have on my desk. Please help a sad UX designer out. Thank you. Is this kind of a solution sturdy enough to work on the tablet?

Hey All, I'm in the process of making a sci-fi strategy game. The game is about 50% feature complete and is currently up and running at https://fleetwars.net. At the moment it is a browser game (because that is the development environment I was most familiar with a few years ago when I began the project). Now, I am looking to develop a fully featured version of the game in Unity. Most of the server side coding is already done so I'm not expecting development to take more than a year to complete. My strengths are in UI design and coding. Unfortunately my artistic skills are lacking. That is why I have come here looking for help. To complete the game I need an artist to help me create assets. I am fairly flexible with the aesthetic of the game, but right now I am thinking of having a cell shaded look. So if there are any artists out there looking for a possibly profitable hobby I'd love to have someone to work with. Now back to the "possibly profitable" bit I just mentioned. Since this is a hobby for myself and I don't have much disposable income to invest in the game, I won't be able to pay you a wage. However, I am more than willing to share a considerable percentage of the IP, meaning you will own and earn an income off that percentage of the game. Feel free to private message or join the conversation below! Thanks, Guy!

Threw together these models and textures. Are there any things y'all recommend case-design wise? I'm already going to change the perforation on the side - I just needed to show something so I left it there. I also forgot to add a button in (oops). Current case volume is 5.65L. The Item besides it is a 12inch ruler for scale.

Hello all I Was wondering if you guys could help me. I am currently trying to find and buy a monitor that can be used for gaming and for content creation. I have heard that there are ips panels out there that are good for both however I find this topic a bit complicated. I think I am looking for something possibly with vsinc and or high Hz. But please you guys probably know more so Im open to suggestions.

Hey guys! So I love designing things and I redesigned Floatplane for fun tell me what you think! There's some small descriptions explaining the different design choices and what is missing. This is mostly a fit & finish exploration and not an actual "ready-to-code" design. So for the branding I went with something modern and simple. The perfect circle is uusable in any situation and represents the shape of a floatplane going forward. It is stylized but still recognizable. A design elements that I added is the frame/scafolding on the right. Floatplane is meant to be a a place for creators to be able to share to their communities, Floatplane gives them the frame to do that so the frame design represents this and supplements the design. The color palette is on the dark side because when you watch videos, you want to be immersed in the content with a slight tint of blue like the original color. So here's the basic channel view. To feel immersed in the channel you're viewing, the creator could chose their color palette, image and so on. The goal is to clearly separate the site navigation and the zone for the creator to work in. It is their place, their colors, their content. Right now the left elements (title, description, etc.) are big, but once you're subscribed to someone they would be way smaller to make place for more content. The creator could share whatever they want in whatever format they want. Single videos, featured videos, per week, per month, per playlists or even share links and files if it is relevent to the community. In this design here, we see a more "girly" oriented channel and how the design system can actually adapt. In this case, it's the back-to-school so the new back-to-schoool videos are featured in the top, but for relevancy, the older back-to-school videos are right under since it is that period. Of course, the side information is big, but this is just to show off the design and would be smaller if already subscribed. The design is highly responsive. Not featured right now is the navigation that would be on the left under the title, but this is mostly a fit & finish exploration. The goal was to take a different approach of the classic top cover and navigation (like every other site out there) and just run with it. Have a great day everyone! Jay

Have a Cryorig H5 Universal, but am getting 80 degrees with my 7700K in even the lowest ends of games, with every fan in my computer on full blast. Because of this, I'm thinking of getting a radiator instead. Here's the interior of my computer: I removed the front bays because I initially planned on getting a radiator, but then figured that air cooling would be enough. Fan at bottom blows upwards, grill fans are intake, rear fan is exhaust. My case is a Fractal Design R5 (no window). Let me know where I should put the radiator, which radiator you think I should get (and which fans, if I should get any for it), and anything else you might suggest for me. Thanks. <3

Hello! my name is wolf and i design graphics cards.. i made my own site! feel free to take a look https://ironidesign.jimdo.com if you know someone in designing of computer components business please let him know! or send him the link to my site. thank you

So I have a 7700K, and know how much hotter it runs than the 6600K, but I didn't think that it'd be consistently reaching 80 degrees no matter how demanding the game is. All the fans in my case are PWM except for bottom one, which is to block the air upwards so the intake has straighter path to the exhaust. I should also note that my 1080 Ti has never reached temps above 65 degrees. I currently have the Cryorig H5 Universal, paired with Startech Metal Oxide paste. If a different paste would reduce the temps, let me know. Here's a picture of my current setup. I'm using a Fractal Design R5 (windowless)

I'm leaning toward yes. 1) They take up space, which you could use for other parts. 2) They restrict air flow. 3) Many tend to be all-or-nothing. 4) They're pointless if you don't use more than 1 hard drive 5) When high capacity M2 SSD's become cheaper, they're going to age very poorly.
