Okay, oh my God, I bought a Dell Inspiron 3511 laptop, December 2021, within a month it developed a problem where it wouldn't boot up, the error lights would blink with the memory error code. Switch off... Switch on and it would boot up, showing "Warning: memory error occured" or "Warning: no memory detected". The problem has not been solved after multiple services by Dell during the 1 year warranty period. Now out of warranty and the problem has only increased in frequency. What do I do? Also wtf happened to Dell QC!!??

My friend has dell m17xr2 and he can't install windows on it. In bios he selected the usb drive with windows installer on it to install the os first. Unfortunately the display on this laptop doesn't work so if it does display any information we can't see it. Fortunately we can see the bios and some other stuff on external display.

The first performance benchmark (using Samsung Magician) I did on my 1TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD was very promising, 549MB/s sequential read & 505MB/s sequential write. This was soon after the new SSD was installed and successfully cloned the OS and about 600-700GB of files. The old HDD was disconnected, so the only storage device plugged in was this SSD. Running the same benchmark today, there is a slight reduction in read speed and a HUGE reduction in write, as well as random read falling. Interestingly, random write has stayed the same. What I've changed since the first benchmark GPU upgrade from GT 710 to RTX 2070 super (along with new PSU) additional storage device added: 2TB WD Blue WD20EZRZ HDD What I've tried unplugging the 2TB HDD and redoing the test - no improvement, we can rule out that option. Is the new GPU responsible for the write speed falling so much? What can I do to get the speed back up? System Info Dell OptiPlex 7010 Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz Samsung 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz RAM (dual channel) Zotac RTX 2070 Super Mini Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64-bit Huge thanks in advance for any reply & assistance.

Hey, just picked up a new laptop for uni. It's running Windows 11 Out of the box it uses heaps of RAM, sitting at around 41% of its 16 gigs on idle I've removed as much of the pre-packed bloatware as possible, what additional steps can I take to optimise the CPU and RAM usage of Windows 11? The laptop is a New Inspiron 14 with the intel 7

So I have a dell inspiron 14 plus laptop and bought it about half a year ago. I've been having problems with it since I got it and have had to contact dell multiple times for assistance. Well my current worst problem is that randomly my touchpad will just stop working. For some reason I can still click but I am unable to move my cursor. To fix it I have to shut my laptop, relog in, and then it'll start working again. I've tried deleting and reinstalling drivers and disconnecting Bluetooth devices(Someone on the internet said this would help) but neither have worked. I dont think its a hardware issue as I am very careful with my laptop and haven't gotten any food or drink on it. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!!

Hello all, i have two dell OptiPlex's (a 7010 with 3rd gen i7 and a 790 with 2nd gen i5). I am looking to upgrade their CPUs, but want some opinions first. This is to my knowledge all the cpus that will work in these machines: LGA 1155 cpu list – all processors Intel: Xeon, Core I7,Core I5, Core I3, Pentium, Celeron – FCLGA1155 socket (specifications) – CPU-LIST.COM The 7010 is being used as a server (for Virtual Machines and data ingest from Hard Drives and the like to images on a separate NAS) The 790 is being used for small games, content creation, etc. (will have rx550 i think eventually ) I've never used Xeon so if anyone has experience, please let me know how they perform and how they compare to intel core CPUs. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Hi ! So. I just picked up no less than 40 Dell and HP servers from different companies in Copenhagen. Now what? It is a mix of M620, R710, R720 and some R730s. Along with a rack, a 10G 24 port Cisco swtich, a new UPS, and a upcoming 4G WAN connection. I'm running a PR agency along with a influencer agency with focus on content creation and YouTube. We operate from the following locations: - Inner City, Copenhagen, Denmark (4GBe WAN via fiber) - Hvidovre, Copenhagen, Denmark (2GBe WAN via fiber) - Aalborg, Denmark (1GBe WAN via coax) - Aarhus, Denmark (1GBe WAN via coax) From Q1 2024, either CA, USA, FL, USA, or NY, USA, via a 4GBe fiber. (we are opening our first LLC) We use my old gaming PC as a server, running unRaid with 4 x 14TB and a 1TB NVME as cache. With 12 core Ryzen 3900X and 64G of RAM. We max that poor thing out. We have this weekly workload now and in the coming months: - 5 x live production in 1080p50 - 1 x event produciton in 2160p50 - 3 x YouTube production in 2160p50 - 10 x SVF production in 2160p50 - 5 x instagram / tiktok production in 1080p50 - 5 x "out of house" production in 1080p50 - 1 x big monthly production in 2160p50 - 5 x remote live production (via site-VPN) With this equipment: - Sony ZV-E10 - Sony FX30 - Sony FX3 - Sony FX6 - Sony FS7 In theese formats: - 2160p50 in XAVC-H and HS 4K in 422 in 200 MBit/s - 1080p50 in XAVC-L HD in 400 in 100 MBit/s - 1080p50 streaming Our workflow: - DIT to SSD SAN - Transcode - Setup in software - Rough cut - Edit - VFX - Mastering - Color grading - Rendering - Render upload to dropbox - Project files to HDD SAN Our SW needs: - 10 x VM for remote editing (LogMeIn software for smooth) - 4 x VM for DIT - 2 x VM for transcode - 1 x VM for Dropbox upload and management - 1 x VM for each YT creator with produciton agreement - 1 x VM for render - 1 x VM for management - 1 x VM for backup - 1 x VM for admin Our HW needs: - DIT server - RDP edit server - Premiere Pro render server - After Effects render server - Unreal render server - Cinema4D render server - Blender render server - Transcode server - VMIX server - SSD SAN - HDD SAN Our equipment (what we know of so far) - 1 x R720xd (Ivy) - 1 x R730xd (Broadwell) - 4 x R720 (Ivy) - 4 x R720 (Sandy) - 5 x R710 (Westmere) - 6 x R710 (Nehalem) - 1 x Dell VRTX - 4 x Dell M620 (Ivy) - 1 x Dell M1000e - 8 x Dell M620 (Sandy) - 1 x Dell PS4210 (25 x 10K SAS 1,2TB HDD) - 4 x HP DL380 Gen8 - 1 x HP DL360 Gen9 - 2 x HP DL380 Gen8 - 1 x Cisco 10GBe switch 48 ports with POE - 1 x Dream Machine Pro (rack) with 10GBe - 2 x Mac Studio M1 Max - 4 x MacBook Air 15" 16GB M2 - 2 x MacBook Pro 16,2 32GB M1 Max - 30+ SFP 10GBe (copper) cables - 10+ SFP dual link fibers (40GBe) - 1 Nestor GPU case 128GBit/s with 4 x PCIe x16 3.0 - 1 x HP UPS - 1 x 4GBe WAN Our setup: - 4 x editors on location - 4 x editors over site-VPN - 1 x live stream on location - 1 x live stream over site-VPN - 2 x studio for video - 2 x studio for audio - 4 x remote editors Everything will run 10GBe. We have CAT 5e in the on location building, they do 10GBe up to 30 meters. We will connect editors with CAT7 to a 2,5GBe switch, with 2,5GBe for each. Planning on getting that to 10GBe though. So! What now and how? We want everything to be well connected, and are tired of slow transfers and workflow. I do not even now if UnRaid is the way to go anymore? Or if a NAS is better than a SAN? And everything will need to be solid state, and yes, we can buy from both Canada and the US. As long as it ships to Copenhagen in Denmark. Give me all your thoughts and tell me what I have forgot to mention in my description above! All best, Thomas

So after I bought this laptop and completed the windows setup i checked the Nvidia Control Panel's System information and it showed that "Advanced Optimus" was available and I had a complete "Display mode" tab under 3D Settings. However, after the system downloaded some Windows updates and required a restart, the "Advanced Optimus" option became disabled and the "Display mode" tab disappeared. Here's what I've tried so far to resolve the issue: Uninstalling the recently installed updates. installing different graphics drivers. Performing a complete clean installation of the graphics drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Trying multiple BIOS installations. Resetting Windows. Unfortunately, none of these attempts have been successful, and I'm at a loss as to whether the hardware is actually incompatible with "Advanced Optimus" or if it was just a visual bug initially. I'm reaching out to the community for any suggestions, advice, or possible solutions to enable "Advanced Optimus" or restore the "Display mode" tab if they have been disabled or affected by the recent updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I am planning to build a NAS and it will be my first time. I am picking up the Dell OPTIPLEX 3020; i5 4590, 4g ram, and 500HDD. What OS will you recommend? the OS to use that I know so far is True NAS, are there any other options? My main goal for this NAS is to store my photos, videos, etc outside my pc and is accessible with my laptop, and phone and could be shared with someone. (ie siblings, partners) I will upgrade the PC with a 128gb SATA ssd and 2 clone HDDs. Future upgrades would be a GPU (for media server if needed), Ram (if needed), and PSU (if needed) I want to perform as follows: 1. Could access the NAS locally and outside (with my phone or laptop) 2. It is secure 3. RAID 1 for data protection 4. Maybe will run a server (for future projects; Media server, ad block, home automation)

I am unable to decide on which monitor size would be better for 1440p gaming. The two models that I have decided on are the Dell S3222DGM or the Dell S2722DGM. They are the same monitor just different sizes. Would 27 in. or 32 in. be better for 1440p gaming?

Wondering if I could get some advice. A buddy of mine gave me an old used laptop, a 13 year old Dell Vostro 3500. Its immaculate, well taken care of and I use it just to browse the web and do MS Office stuff. For that it works perfectly. There is no graphics card. CPU is a Core i3-370M @ 2.40Ghz 8GB RAM Win10 Home To watch YouTube when at home I hook the laptop up via HDMI to a small projector. The laptop chugs along for about 20 minutes or so and then immediately shuts down. The underside and side vents could likely fry an egg. The same thing happens when accessing a USB stick for a while. The stick itself gets super hot, the laptop even hotter and it shuts down. This only happens if writing/reading large files not for small read-writes. I used CoreTemps logging feature and it showed the CPU reached 89°C and then the laptop shut down. When not doing any of these things the laptop runs perfectly. What could cause it to try to melt itself when I use HDMI or the USB ports?

I sometimes have the problem that after the startup of my system both my personal and university OneDrive say that they are not logged in. My system then works for about one minute normally and then starts to look up completely. I still can move my cursor but don't get any responses when I click something. Normally a little later I then get a notification from Windows that a process stopped working and if I want to quit this process. But quitting this does not help. If I restart the same thing happens again. Until now I always had to do a system repair with my BIOS and bring my system to a previous state. But it always happens again after some time, does anyone know whats the cause of this behavior and how I can fix it? Thank you for your help About my system: Dell XPS 17-9700 CPU: Intel i9-10885H GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2060 Max-Q RAM: 32 GB DDR-4 OS: Windows 11

Specs: Dell Precision T3600 Workstation (425w Power Supply model) CPU: INTEL XEON 2670 GPU: NVIDIA Quadro K600 RAM: 32GB Silicon Power DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) 240-pin CL11 1.35V / 1.5V Unbuffered UDIMM PC Computer Desktop Memory SSD: 128GB Silicon Power 2.5" --- When trying to install Windows 10, there is first a Blinking Cursor in the upper-right hand corner - and then the Windows Logo appears for less than a second before disappearing. The screen then goes blank and nothing else happens. The machine does not turn-off, but there is no more indication that Windows should be installing. I have tried different RAM (initially, I was using ECC RAM but then I read that this type of Memory is only supported in the models that come with a 635 watt Power Supply). I have also tried using an Intel XEON E5-1603 CPU and a different model SSD. Nothing seems to change the problem or allow Windows to install. Why is the Windows Logo appearing at all? The system does seem to know that the USB is that (and this same Windows 10 USB has been used to recently install OS on other machines). What is likely causing this to happen? Is there any possible fix?

I've been looking to build a 512gb RAM dual CPU server for some ML training (research papers I'm looking at didn't use GPUs, just multi-CPU, and 512gb VRAM is affordable only in cloud), as it's cheaper than cloud for the amount I plan on using it. Money is tight enough that only Ebay bargains qualify. I have 2 questions about a motherboard I have already bought (it was on auction), that of a Dell T630 workbench. 1) While I did expect proprietary connectors and functionality being offloaded to daughterboards (cough, enterprise HW, cough), I didn't expect the power switch pins (all front panel pins for that matter) to be replaced by a proprietary a connector (picture) to a "control panel" daughterboard. The pinout of the connector is to my knowledge undocumented. If anyone (knows someone who) jumpstarted this mobo, assistance would be greatly appreciated. If not, is it reasonable to assume that a pair of those pins would correspond to the usual power switch pins? How could I find which pair to jump without frying anything? Additionally, high res photos of the control panel board (top, bottom, back views) would be useful in determining the pins by traces, if anyone has a full system. This Dell support thread about a T300 has a Dell rep saying the control panel is required to power on: https://www.dell.com/community/PowerEdge-Hardware-General/POWEREDGE-T300-Front-Panel-40-Pin-header-help-Power-Button/td-p/5113102 However, I'm not sure this applies, as the model and connector format and pin count are all different. 2) The linked thread also lists the power distribution board as needed to boot a redundant PSU system (ambiguous if redundant PSU equipped or just capable). The T630 is redundant PSU capable. As is, I cannot just try booting it with an existing PSU, on account of the previous problem. I am unfamiliar with redundant PSU systems, so is it likely that the PDB is required to boot?

Hello all, I have searched for an answer but have come to nothing. I acquired a Dell precision motherboard 3620 and some nvme drives. I attempted to place them in, and they never populate in bios nor device manager. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have searched for drivers. I am thinking they may just be incompatable. The m.2 drive is a toshiba nvme drive P/N 829095-005 model number: THNSN51T02DU7. From what I have found the mobo should support it. Can the OEM like disable the use of that or something? I'm not sure what else I could do at this point. I have 2 SSD'd running on the system now, a i7-6700, and a 3060, and 32GB of DDR4 ram. Not sure if any of that matters. I also found some HP nvme thing that slots into a PCIE slot (like the graphics card) which also didnt work, Thanks

Hi! I've just got used Dell Vostro 3900 MT for $35 in my local online shop, it came with 4th gen i3, 128GB SSD, 300W PSU, and 8GB of ram. I wonder if this system have several upgrade problem like many prebuilts. I just gonna use this PC for homelab use. Here list of my questions: Xeon CPU upgrade: I interested on buying either E3-1230v3 or E3-1265Lv3 because is cheaper than it's i7 counterparts, does this particular motherboard support xeon microcode? at least there's chances this microcode come stock with all motherboard BIOS from this generation? RAM compatibility: If xeon CPU is working on this system, does it guarantee to be able to run DDR3 ECC unbuffered RAM? PCIe whitelisting: Does this particular system have whitelisting on PCIe devices? I've seen many prebuilt in this generation limit PCIe card to only can be used with particular hardware PSU upgrade: This board seems like using standard ATX PSU and connector, does it guarantee to support standard ATX PSU? (I didn't have spare PSU to test it) Any help will be appreciated, thank you!

dell inspiron 15 3521 Dell boot logo takes too long
Hasan Aljobory posted a topic in Operating Systems
Hi my laptop is a dell inspiron 15-3521 with 3rd gen i5 and amd radeon HD something graphics an adata ssd and 8gb of ram my problem is that the DELL boot logo takes really long like 20-40 seconds once the windows logo it only takes like 10 seconds (windows 11) and windows is really really fast on it the only slow thing is the dell boot logo before the windows boot logo What’s the cause of that? Thanks. UPDATE: the problem was the stuck cd rom because it tries to make it rotate but because it’s stuck it doesn’t and the laptop will try over and over but eventually give up -
Hello my laptop is dell inspiron 15 3521 some time ago colourful and transparent thick horizontal lines appear on the bottom of the display there colour is green and pink they sometimes glitch and make the image on that part stick and don’t move it increases and decreases depending on screen angle and sometimes stop but still thin line is still there is that the display ribbon cable need to be adjusted or something because if you move the display sometimes it disappears completely the image below is when it mostly disappeared completely on its own after slightly adjusting the display angle and now it’s not returning my graphics card is an AMD radeon HD 7670M 1G DDR3 and intel HD 4000 graphics my processor is intel i5-3rd gen

I have this old dell Optiplex 7080 SFF that I don't use anymore but want to with a dell intel 8th gen motherboard and I'm looking to upgrade the case on this because it came with a 200w dell psu and the case won't fit other PSUs. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the hardware in this can be put into a better case or how I could check if it would fit into one before buying it?

I own a Dell Inspiron 16 5620 and the laptop gets pretty hot and since it sucks up air from the bottom and pushes it up to cool the laptop my keyboard gets pretty hot. Almost too hot to even touch it. I was looking around online for help on how to control the fan speed manually but I just couldn't find anything and even third party apps(MSI Afterburner, Argus Monitor) can't seem to do the trick. The fan speed control options on these applications are straight up locked off. Can someone help me on this??

I'm searching for a new computer that can handle my work, that goes from light usages such as consuming content to a little heavy such as 3D programs like AutoCAD and relatives. No big chunks or macOS system. I'm an usb-c charger type of guy. For consuming content, I mean playing movies with a decent screen resolution and a high peak of brightness, so it would be nice to have a resolution more than an FHD, and technology like OLED or WLED, hoping to find a screen with a 120hz refresh rate. As for the little heavy part, I'm graduating in dentistry, so I need a laptop that can handle 3D models of facial scans and so on, and, maybe, a bit of gaming sometimes, using Xbox GamePass. In other words, I would like to buy a laptop that would not limitate my ideas and creativity, that can need even a screen with touch input, with a good longevity investment. My choices by now are very poor and problematic because I'm stuck with laptops that have everything, but lack one or two points. Here they are. Dell XPS 17: I'll buy it maxed out, so with i9 and 4080. This means that I'll get a nice specs laptop, nice speaker, good upgradability, good battery life thanks to its 97wh capacity, with touch input screen, but not so bright or colour accurate as I want, and also stuck at 60hz. Nice investment though. Galaxy Book3 Ultra: Best consuming content laptop, thanks to its OLED panel and 120hz refresh rate, even if it's not touching capable. Nice workspace thanks to the Samsung environment (i got an S21 Ultra), decent graphics as it is configurable with a 4070, and poor upgradability (only SSD is replaceable). The problem here is the less powerful GPU compared to the 4080, and less battery life. Surface Laptop Studio 2 (upcoming don't know when): If everything is right, it should be packed with i9 and 4060. Given the fact that it would be my best choice if they choose to equip it with a 4070, I'm forced to ignore it because a 4060 is very less powerful for my needs. But it’s wonderful for its screen clarity, touch input and speakers. Oh, and it even has the nicest camera compared to the previous two laptops, and a trackpad with a haptic sensor. Damn it. Do you all have any further suggestions to give me? I’ve run out of ideas, and I don’t like so much Lenovo or others. Maybe I could give it a try to ASUS, HP, but I’ve not seen a large battery in their laptop. Let me know guys, hope to receive a lot of ideas from you. Many thanks to you all.
