Greetings everyone. Currently looking for a monitor upgrade from my AOC C72G2, a 1080p Curve VA 165hz monitor. I am torn between Dell G2724D and MSI MAG 274QRF QD E2. I'm tempted to buy the MSI since it has more features on paper(KVM switch, usb hub, quantum dot) and it's newer but I can barely find any review of it, I also worry about their quality control. Seems to have quite a few post about dead pixel, while Dell has a singular post about backlight bleed after a few months. Should I go with the Dell or the newer unreviewed MSI?

I have a problem with the fingerprint sensor on my laptop. The operating system behaves as if it does not exist and is not ready to set it. After updating the drivers, OS and firmware got me nowhere, I used Dell's troubleshooting software. In the end, after all else didn't work, I called their customer service, who told me to do the things I had already done. So I reinstalled OS and went to sleep. In the morning, the sensor still didn't work. I called them again, and after a few minutes of exchanging details on the computer, they referred me to local customer service, claiming that they would be able to resolve it. They were miserable. After over half an hour of conversation in which they asked me to change all kinds of settings in the bios that are not related at all and asked me if I even know how to install a fingerprint sensor in Windows, they had to seek help from those who really understand. After fifteen minutes of waiting on the line they said that there was nothing to be done about it and that apparently my computer simply does not have the fingerprint sensor. Of course, after that I checked, and I couldn't find any store in my country that sells it without the sensor, so I called them back, and after a moment they put it on hold, and two minutes later they hung up. The next time they did not transfer me to a service representative. The fourth time I called they answered and explained that there was nothing I could do and I had to go and replace the entire keyboard at their service center at my own expense, even though the warranty clearly also includes hardware issues that require replacing components. Just to clarify, the warranty package I have is the proservice. Does anyone have an idea what can be done?

Hi, I was following a tutorial to upgrade ram on my laptop. Each RAM slot has 2 retention arms that hold the RAM stick down. The idea is that you push them away and the RAM stick pops up. When I was doing it, I must have pushed the retention arms too far and now they are stuck. A little bit of metal won't let them get back into the right posirions. I can't get them to close and the new RAM sticks won't stay in the right position without them. I'm running out of ideas at this point and I really need help

Yeah I know there are a lot of questions about this type of issue but I checked everywhere and nobody seems to have the same issue as me. So, I'm using DELL Inspirion 15 7559 from 2016 I believe. Today my screen got infested with thin, horizontal lines across whole screen, height and width wise. Those lines aren't any exact color - they seem like it's 50/50 darker and ligher lines... Or maybe half of them are darker and half of them is 'normal' brightness? I have no idea. They almost look like scan lines on CRT TV. No those arent black, green or whatever else. They seem to come up after few minutes of using the laptop - they arent there from the start. Those lines seem to get worse, dissapear by themselves and re-appear all by random chance. Also. Sometimes, but not always, I do see those lines appear when my screen goes black if i don't use the laptop for a while, then those lines kinda 'fizz out' as the black screen of screen saver dissapears and wallpapaer appear. It's first time using this forum for me, I will try attaching a photo/video of this. And no, they don't appear on screenshots. VID_20240311_195421 (1).mp4

I have a Dell Precision T5500/T3500 (can't remember the exact number). It's running with dual CPUs with the second CPU and its ram on a removable riser. Is it possible to remove the riser and run the Workstation with just the one CPU on the motherboard? I'm using the workstation with TrueNas and I don't need both CPUs and I'd like to be able to lower the power usage since each CPU is 92W.

We purchased a new Dell PowerEdge R250 server for one of our business customers. In that new server is a 1TB SSD with no OS installed. They currently own a 10+ year old Dell PowerEdge T320 with Windows Server 2019 Essentials installed and activated. We have created a Virtual Hard Disk using Disk2vhd and ultimately want to spin up that VM on the hard drive in the new server. What kind of host OS needs to be installed to run the VHD made from the previous server's hard drive? Can it be activated with the same license key as the guest OS (the one activated in the VHD that was created from the previous server's hard drive)? If not, and we only get to migrate the activation key from the previous server's hard drive to be used in the guest OS on the new hard drive, does that mean we have to pay for another activation key for the host OS on the new hard drive?

I just wanted to know what's up with all these dell laptops having weird electric crackling noises? i thought dell was supposed to be excellent but i guess not. I own a 7000 series and just received it from Amazon yesterday, however when it is plugged in and especially when scrolling i here a crackling noise. When removing the charger the sound goes, so does stop scrolling using the trackpad. When i searched online, it seems a lot of other models have this same issue and dell has been ignoring posts on their own forums regarding this issue. Any fixes or updates i should know about? I have attached a video of the issue, if you turn your volume up you can hear it clearly. Thanks in advance. 1496194953_WhatsAppVideo2022-11-23at8_10_14PM.mp4

I bought an Inspiron 7706 2-in-1 about 3 years ago, and since the purchase, I've experienced random crashes. I believe the Best buy comments there are people experiencing the same here is my journey. Please remember to add to your joy while reading this that I called Dell in-between every step at least 3 times their fix was always always always, some new driver( either on their website or their updater or windows) , and if there was any available they got me off the phone and said that was all they could do. It wasn't until some angry and abusive language and a list of the troubleshooting steps that they finally caved and sent someone to replace the motherboard. I replaced the RAM no fix. I remember updating from Windows 10 to 11 was a hassle, but I believe that was due to the new drive not being partitioned correctly. I removed the stock PCIe3 Optane for a Samsung PCIe4 drive. I didn't know that was what was stopping me, but somehow, with a USB, I forced my way into Windows 11. Updating from Windows 10 to 11 on the new SSD still didn't fix the issue, so I began to believe it was a manufacturing defect from Dell. Dell come out to replace the entire motherboard, but the crashes still occur. A "recent" update seems to have made it much less frequent, which has me assuming it's something to do with software somewhere some how. I'm not sure what update did it, but it just became less frequent. I had a problem updating to one of Windows 11's updates it was a big Service update I believe, it would sometimes download but stop around 5% or download fully but never install or finish installing . This due to what I believe was that partition issue, but after not being able to figure out how to do that conveniently, I gave up. However, I noticed that one day my PC was able to do it on its own because that update was no longer offered and my pc was finally Up to Date. Currently my SSD is 100% full (not sure if it's related but I don't think it should be) so I bought a cheap desktop I'm going to use to back up any important files and I'm completely wiping this laptop. If I missed something or if there is anything I can do please let me know I think i will be writing all zeros to my drive as kind of recommended in the new LTT video. For clarity here is the order of my changes RAM SSD Win 10-11 Motherboard Random Win Update (Made issue less frequent)

Back in December I decided to go and buy myself an early christmas present. I had been eying the Alienware 34dwfOLED for awhile and noticed it was on sale. Sweet! I put my order in and waited patiently. About a week later it gets delivered to my door in my apartment complex and I open it up to find that it is full of bags of rocks. I immediately take pictures and get into contact with Dell customer service. They said they'll look into it and get back to me the next day. Two days pass. I contact them again. They state that the package was "carrier certifed" and I cant recieve a refund or replacement because the package was signed for. I told them I did not sign for the package. They told me they would get back to me shortly. Three days passed. I have to initate contact AGAIN. They repeate the same garbage as last time while wasting 3hrs of my time in call center/let me transfer you to someone who can help hell. Dell is now ghosting me. They refuse to respond to any of my emails regarding my issue and continually leave me on hold for 30+mintues until I hang up. 0/10. I will never buy anything from dell ever again.

Hello, I'll try to share this doubt briefly, but I have already searched for this answer everywhere, and I need some support. I had a 2023 Dell 5430 notebook for work purposes. In the office, I usually work with a DELL D6000 or DELL WD22TB4 dock and 1 or 2 monitors (no seat is fixed for anyone there, so it depends on availability) with ethernet. Everything works fine. When I go home, I use the same dock models (but are mine), always two monitors (an ultrawide 26" LG and a wide 21,5" HP), and ethernet or wifi (500 MB fast connection). But at home, always when I need a bit more graphics to be used (be it a PowerPoint presentation or a TEAMS meeting) the GPU use goes to 99% and the notebook becomes unusable until I reboot it. My company gave me (after several tests, and driver updates) a 7490 notebook from 2019 that the battery was not working and only works connected to the power source, and this notebook never had those issues. I searched a lot for this issue, some said it was a TEAMS issue, but sometimes it happened during other activities, and no one else at my company has those issues, and the 7490 didn't have as well when I'm home. After a lot of tests from Dell, they replaced my 5430 with a 5440 with i7 and 1 TB SSD, for about 2 to 3 weeks I thought the problem was solved. But now the problem is back. I have already made several tests here at home; connecting to the wifi, or through ethernet cable, leaving only 1 monitor or 2, disabling graphic features... this happens again, at some point. I'm going nuts. I wanna know what's wrong in my house (I have other PCs/MACs/videogames and no other device has this sort of issue). Can anyone please help?

Is going above 50 watts just okay? I saw this video by a nerd on a budget showing that he bought a used Dell Optiplex with a 240-watt PSU and an I7 6700. And he upgraded it with another stick of RAM, making it 16GB overall, and bought a 1650 Super with a SATA to 6-pin adapter. When I calculated the recommended PSU on the Cooler Master website, it stated that I needed 260+ watts for that system. And on that website, it just calculated that the CPU was 65 watts TDP, and I saw in an article that an I7 6700 can go at 100 watts, making the situation much worse. Pic from https://tekeverything.com/i7-7700-review-benchmarks/ My question is, is this safe??? because I have a Dell Inspiron 3668 lying around (with the same 240 watt power supply) and recently I upgraded it to a 16 GB RAM, GTX 1050TI (no 6 pin), but it has only I3 7100, and I am planning to upgrade it to I7 7700 and mainly use it for Video Editing. My Dell Inspiron 3668 taken yesterday

I bought a faulty Dell Latitude E5570 a few days ago... The fault was just that it would only work when plugged in so thought it would be a relatively simple fix, a new battery. Now I was looking at some 3rd party ones on Amazon but looking at reviews found them to not always work due to Dell checking that batteries are genuine parts and if not refusing to charge them. I therefore (as I didn't want to spend the crazy amounts of a new genuine battery but still want a battery) bought a slightly smaller capacity battery from eBay. Note, this 'new' battery is said to be compatible with this laptop on both the listing and having searched it and it is a genuine Dell battery so I saw no reason not to go for it considering the cost saving. Well I installed it in the laptop today and was greeted by it showing as 1 percent in Windows, which I noticed didn't appear to be increasing. As you've likely guessed by this point, when I looked in the BIOS it was saying it wasn't a genuine Dell battery. So after some research I came to the conclusion that prehaps this BIOS is too old to reconginise this battery, so went to Dell's website, searched the service tag and sure enough found it needed a BIOS update. So I downloaded the new BIOS and was greeted with an error saying that the battery needs to be above 10 percent for it to do... Little more research found that I could do it via cmd by running as administrator, typing the name of the file and then /forceit. At this point I then confirmed the actions on the pop ups and thought it was going to update, well it restarted, didn't update and just went stright to windows. Tried this a few times and same result. Well worth noticing as it was restarting it kept getting to the screen that the image shows, so I presumed the battery was causing the issue. I then removed the battery and tried again with the method via cmd, this time it just went stright into Win. So I then copied the bios exe file onto a spare USB and tried using the bios update option via the boot selector. This said inadequate for the power, which Im guessing is due to the battery. Google revealed little info about how to overcome this so I just tried to type the /forceit command in the options box and to my surprise the button to update them let me press it and the power thing had changed from inadequate in red to the word forced in green. Finally thought it would work but once again it just boots into Windows and doesn't update the BIOS. I don't understand why it's made so complicated to update the BIOS. I understand a warning about low battery or no battery but at the end of the day what's the different between been just plugged in on a laptop and using a desktop computer which I'm sure would let you update the BIOS fine. Specs: Dell Latitude E5570 with a core i5 6th Gen processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD, Win 10 Pro. TL;DR want to update the BIOS on a Dell Latitude E5570 without a battery. Tried a variety of methods but cannot get it to update.

Hi! I purchased my Alienware m15 r7 laptop from Best Buy in October, and for a couple of months it was running well. Then, it began to have very steep frame drops after playing for a few minutes. Where I would normally get 120fps to 140fps, I would be getting 40 to 60fps, sometimes lowering. Additionally, it often stutters in game, and sometimes even on the desktop, to the point that the audio becomes distorted and the keyboard will double type. Games that I have noticed this especially quickly in are Destiny 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Deep Rock Galactic, and Diablo IV. Some games run better for longer, Doom Eternal being a notable case of such. Steps that I have taken that have been unsuccessful: -Set up a new power plan for high performance -Disabled hybrid/ optimus graphics -Added a cooling pad -Run games at minimum settings, at low resolutions -Updated all drivers to latest -Uninstalled AWCC -Uninstalled Support Assist -Disabled SpeedStep -Disabled SpeedShift -Enabled Ultra Performance Mode I had already tried the above suggested fixes from forums before I contacted Dell tech support. Though the first ticket was marked "resolved" without having a solution, I called today, and spent an hour and a half on the phone with a tech. He took remote control of the PC, and none of the tests for CPU or GPU produced anything that flagged for him. However, to demonstrate, I ran Destiny 2, and though it began at around 120fps, within a few minutes it dropped down to 37-45 fps. He tried having me run it in a lower resolution than 1080p, which did not help. Next, he said that for Destiny 2, my machine would not be capable of more than 40-60fps, and that similar machines would rate similar. I mentioned that my 5 year old laptop, which has a 2060 card, was outperforming this. He said that was the issue: that I had a 30 series card. He said that all Nvidia 30 and 40 series cards are poorly built, and that as a consequence, Nvidia has worked with game manufacturers and Steam to limit the FPS in games. That is the reason for my frame drops. I don't think that makes any sense at all, as my brother has a 3060 that has no problem handling any of the same games I play (granted he has an MSI laptop build). He suggested that if I want a solution, I should contact Nvidia, Steam, and the game manufacturers to complain about having my performance limited. I noted that it is also on non-Steam games, and he asserted that Nvidia has had to limit many games, so it's possible all were affected. As for the desktop, Nvidia GPU being limited would explain the lags there, too, he said (though not why they occurred while running on the Iris integrated graphics). I had been using fn +F1 to try to get some better cooling after it first began to be an issue, but the tech also said that I shouldn't do that, and to only ever use Performance Mode, not Full Speed, as Full Speed would not allow for full performance. Has anyone else had issues with Alienware m15 r7 laptops? At this point, I cannot get a refund (or an exchange for the same model, he informed me). It was seeming to run fine when I first purchased it, otherwise I'm sure I would have returned it. Unfortunately I didn't run any stress tests when I first purchased it. I am sure that part of the issue is the CPU throttling, as I have failed every 3D Mark stress test I have performed (it passed the Dell 30 second stress test, however). The GPU has seemed to run fine in 3D Mark, though. Also of note is that the GPU power drops from 100 to around 50 or sixty at the same time the frames go down (measured using Nvidia performance overlay). I have to imagine this isn't just an issue with Nvidia, as it worked well at the beginning. Its descent into low FPS was gradually enough that I didn't even notice at first, until after about 5 minutes of playtime, my frames are down to 30 and my screen feels very blurry and stuttering. My specs are: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz 16 gb RAM NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3070 ti laptop GPU 1TB NVME PC801 NVME sk hypnix Windows 11 Here are some of the recent 3D Mark tests I conducted. Timespy Stress Test: http://www.3dmark.com/tsst/5715761 Timespy CPU Profile: http://www.3dmark.com/cpu/1662820 Timespy Test: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/44317383 Speedway Test: http://www.3dmark.com/sw/1066043 Speedway Stress Test: http://www.3dmark.com/swst/576662 If anyone can offer any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated! Hello, I recently got ( for free ) this laptop ( model g3 3779 from Dell ) from a company who discarded most of the older equipment. This particular laptop is in great shape, rarely used and etc. I saw it had dedicated 1060 GPU from NVIDIA which would make it a great budget gaming laptop, but there is a problem. Windows instantly blue screens whenever I try to install drivers for it, it just insta crashes.I get this : nvlddmkm.sys system_thread_exception_not_handled which would suggest that its a driver issue ( according to google at least ). I tried drivers from Dell ( older and new but without success ) same result, same BSOD. I updated everything else - BIOS, mobo drivers, but nothing helps. I cant find anything in BIOS related to dedicated GPU so I assume it switches to it when it needs in Windows. Had to boot to safe mode to disable auto drivers install from windows bcs it kept BSOD-ing every time I turn on the laptop so now I am stuck with only Intel UHD 630 but at least there is no crashes. I also tried downloading latest drivers from NVIDIA which installed fine and GPU is picked up in device manager but after restarting windows it gives me error code 43 - device reported problems so Windows stopped it ( attached picture ). This is probably hardware related so my questions are : Did anyone had anything similar to deal with ? Can it be fixed , or is it even profitable to take it to the repair store ? Thanks for the responses in advance. OS - Windows 10 x64 2H22 RAM - 16 GB

I got a new laptop from company Dell Precision 3581 with I7-13700H. My work needs powerful machines I was hopeful that this will solve my problems. However when I tested this system I can see when I am putting system under stress it is not giving me 100%. That is the CPU utilization is capped at 74% and frequency never goes above 2.16GHz. I tried to update the power options and everything in windows that I know but to no help. Can anyone suggest the cause of it and maybe help me solve this issue. Thanks.

Background: I have a Dell G5 5590 that is exhibiting some odd behavior. Specs are as follows: I5 9300H GTX 1650 32 GB Ram (Dual Channel) I've done a few things to this PC in this order: Cleaned the fans (spraying air cannister condensate into them by accident causing notable whining) Installed MSI Afterburner to attempt to give my GPU a small bump. This resulted in battery drain even when plugged in when gaming (and some really bad battery activity such as not charging to 100%). Uninstalled MSI Afterburner I removed my battery as it began to swell and used my laptop exclusively plugged in. went from 8gb to 32 gb of ram Recently replaced SSD and reimaged with fresh windows 10 (issue still persists) The Problem: Performance began to dip after Uninstalling MSI Afterburner and got notably worse when i removed my battery. During game sessions, I would experience extreme dips in FPS (80fps to low 15s) and would stay low for a notable amount of time. Generally this happened when more was happening on screen, however this was not the only trigger as it would happen when I hadn't moved in game at all with nothing on screen. For a time the fans would kick in, however they recently have not (though they are still functional, aka i can force them to 100% speed). With task manager open, I noticed my clock speeds acting extremely weird, with clock speeds dropping extremely low when under load. During my testing for example, in a situation where multiple abilities on screen, my frames dropped from 80 to 10, and when I checked my clock speeds, they were 1.15Ghz (For context the base clock of my CPU is 2.4Ghz). My temperatures at that moment were around 60c. What I've Tried: Running Aida 64 and stressing my CPU had a similar effect where my clock speeds dropped from 2.4Ghz to around 1.1Ghz under load, This was without any temperature spikes or anything, once under load the clockspeeds would simply drop. NOTE: During this test Aida 64 did not show the warning for thermal throttling. Fresh install of Windows, however problem still persists in games (I have not benchmarked aida 64 in this new install) My Question: What could be the cause of this downclock underload? I will be doing more testing with Aida64 and other tools, trying to replace parts by ordering them through dell. Is it a voltage problem? perhaps with the battery gone my 130W powersupply is unable to supply enough power? I'm no longer sure where to look, and some help would be much appreciated! Thank you so much for reading, I'm thankful for any help here!

Need vBIOS for Dell XPS 15 7590 (GTX 1650)
BuffJesus posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Device ID: 10DE 1F91-1028 0905 I've had this laptop for four years, and for the past two, it's GPU hadn't been working. I had blamed it on both GeForce Experience and probably the chip being fried. But turns out neither are the case, it's just a corrupted vBIOS. I'll attach a GPU-Z screenshot. Dell Support won't help, the shop is probably not gonna be any help either given the country I'm in, and I am really possessive about my laptop. So please, if someone who has an XPS 15 7590, check through GPU-Z if the Device ID matches, if so, please get in touch with me. I hope this community would be more receptive to my problem than the others have been -
Whats up, I randomly stumbled upon an old laptop I had gotten for college but was too bulky to lug around to class and was messing around with it. Currently, my family moved far away from my university and on vacations, I want to be able to play some games at home with my friends without having to lug my desktop all around the country. Currently it can run some games but at low settings and rarely 1080p. I also think I am limited by the lowly DDR3 VRAM. The specs currently are as follows: CPU: Core i7 3840QM @2.8ghz RAM: 16gb GPU: Quadro K2000M PSU: Generic Dell powerbrick, 180W I am trying to figure out what graphics card to buy to upgrade it, and it seems like I have limited options with the MXM 2.0a form factor. I could get a Quadro K2100M, which would be marginally faster or the AMD FirePro M5100. If any of you guys have any other suggestions please leave it below.

Hello. I recently bought a new Thermaltake Smart 600w PSU I needed to finally be able to use a RX 470 I bought some month ago for my Dell Optiplex 3010 motherboard with 12GB RAM, I3 3240, Windows 10 64bit I installed the new PSU, without the GPU and everything worked fine. The motherboard is old so it only has a VGA output which was fine because my monitor is a VGA only. Of course, the GPU I bought doesn't have a VGA output, but I thought I could use a TV with HDMI as a monitor in the meantime. I installed the GPU on the pcie slot and plugged the 8 pin connector and before plugging the PC to the TV I tried turning it on connected to the VGA monitor through the motherboard VGA output. The PC turns on with a message saying the current video configuration is wrong and I should plug the monitor to the GPU, which I expected, so the PC is recognizing the GPU. However when I connect the GPU to the TV through HDMI and turn on the PC there is no signal and the case gives the dell POST error code 1 2 blue On/Off button, the Dell POST code manual says it is a expansion card error, but specifically says it is not a graphics card error and I should remove or install any expansion cards I recently installed or removed. If I remove the GPU the PC turns on just fine. When installed, if connected from the Mobo, gives the message to connect to the GPU. When connected to the GPU, PC won't POST. I haven't tried connecting to another TV, since I have no other TV. I haven't tried connecting through DVI or Display Port since I have no DVI or DP monitors or cables. I haven't tried installing the GPU to another PC since I have no other PC nor I know somebody with a PC I could use to test the GPU. I'm from Venezuela, so it's kinda hard to buy stuff here at a reasonable price when earning 140$ a month One thing I noticed is that the PCIE 8 pin connector clashes a little bit with the GPU board so it doesn't go in all the way, it is just like a millimeter from going in all the way. I don't know if that's what's causing the problem and the GPU isn't getting all the power needed to work. I tried turning on the PC with the GPU installed on the PCIE but without the PCIE 8 pin to test if it was the 8 pin not being connected completely. The PC started just fine using the Mobo VGA port. GPU fans not spinning unlike when the 8 pin is connected.

I found this affordable WiFi 6E card that I wanna put on my old Dell Inspiron 15R laptop as I'm giving this away to a family member. I've had an annoying experience where my old Lenovo laptop from 2014 wasn't able to work with a newer WiFi card due to some BIOS lockdown. Do Dell laptops have that same thing? This video showed that it's a PCIe card.

Hi everyone, I would like to know if anyone has experience with the Dell Precision 5560. I recently bought one off of eBay and noticed the idle temps reaching 100C (HWMonitor). The fans kick on, and the laptop cools to about 96-97C. When I have a VM running on it, the fans will kick in after a while, but that seems normal as that is quite some load. I have cleaned the cooling fins, fans and repasted the CPU and GPU (MX4). I have contacted Dell, and they just turned off the ExpressCharge feature giving me that as a reason for the overheating, but that didn't fix anything other than my laptop charging slower. They then asked me to perform a hardware check and send them screen shots of the screen after the tests have run. I haven't heard back from them, and doubt they know what is causing the overheating. I'm tempted to try liquid metal, but am kind of scared as I have no experience with it. Note: the room temperature is between 22C and 24C. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
