I have an HP Omen 15t from early 2017 (7700hq gtx 1050ti 4gb model) For awhile I've had a pressure mark that hasn't changed, its on the side and doesn't bother me. And a dead Pixel somewhere. But, today after taking it out of my backpack the screen shows purple marks from the keyboard when the screen is on and on black. To me that doesn't sound like a regular pressure mark or dead pixel. What is it? Can it be repaired? If so how?

Hi guys, I recently received my 1920x today and I saw these marks on the IHS. The marks are in a perfect square and do not wipe off trust me I have tried. From some information from a rep at AMD I have been told it is fine due to it being from either manufacture or even more testing on the cpu before being sent to the retailer. Therefore, he said that my CPU may well perform exceptionally due to it being properly binned and tested. However any help from you guys is much appreciated as this isn't a cheap chip and the retailer I bought it through is not being good about this at all and believes it is my fault, this got me really annoyed because this is clearly long term over tightened usage of an older cooling block on the IHS. But from what the rep said I am much happier, but any help or information you guys can give is much appreciated. Thanks guys, seb

Hi there , my pc has just had an accident namely it fell onto my bed and then it got punched 2 times to the sidepanel by my younger brother , the pc specs are the following Ryzen 5 2600X GTX 1070ti asus x470 prime pro 500 gb samsung 970 evo 16gb 3200 mhz ram (after the accident ram went to 2400 mhz but after resetting it to 3200 its fine and stays at 3200) windows 10 64 bit Everything appears to be working correctly , the system does let me into the BIOS UEFI , does boot , all thedata is present , the gpu is correctly identified by the NVidia control panel , in the bios the 2600X is identified correctly same for the ram (except for it going to 2400 mhz but after resetting the profile its at 3200) and it appears to be fine . Is there any way I can further test my pc for hardware failures?Were 2 punches to the metal sidepanel likely to crack my mobo and cause it to fail/give wrong ram speeds?

Hi, so you know how your parents tell you things like "Wait until your phone says it needs to charge"; "Dont use your phone while it is charging" and all that stuff. So I have talked with my dad about this, because he likes electronics and it is like his hobby. He said that he actually doesnt know if it is true or not. And now I have got a new phone (S9+) and I am scared if i will damage my battery. So I want to know if any of these are true. I am actually not sure if they are too, because I already tried charging when it is at like at 50% and for the first few days everything was fine. Now I am seeing that my battery is getting drained pretty fast even when I dont use the phone. I dont know why is that happening. And now I was just watching it using like 3% in a hour and I remembered that I watched a video where they said that a simple restart can fix anything. I tried it and it is working for now, knock on wood. The battery is doing ok. So... Again... Is this whole bullshit true or not. And if yes it would be great if you can explain to me why is that happening. I am just wondering.

Hey guys! Save your MacBook comments if you don't mind. Anywho, I bought a 15.4" MacBook Pro on eBay a couple weeks ago for a really great price, as it was described as the Touch ID not working, and the speakers being distorted. I brought the device to a local apple store to get the Touch ID repaired for about $70 which I think would be a good investment. They couldn't end up fixing it because its a motherboard issue due to liquid damage. (Don't know if its water or not). I'm totally cool with JUST the Touch ID not working and the speakers. What I'm worried about is it deteriorating over time. I have the open to return it via eBay and PayPals return policy, due to the description not accurately describing the problem. Is the risk of keeping this liquid damaged device serious? Is there some way I can fix it or should I just return it. Thanks!!

At night spiled some water on my LED monitor removed it put it in sleep mode and went to sleep myself. Woke up in the morning and this was what happend. Has anyone experiaced this before and has any sugestions?

So while cleaning out my laptop fans I accidentally dropped a magnetic screwdriver head onto the motherboard, which then sparked twice but didn't release any smoke. Now my laptop display won't turn on but it still holds a charge and still powers my mouse and cooling pad up via USB ports. Processor still gets power though(I know because it still heats up). Anything I can possibly do to try getting the thing to boot up? or is it just dead?

So I noticed some pixels on my screen about a week and a half ago, had the monitor for years so I guess it would happen. But the it started to progress and now its a cluster of pixels. It's on the right side of the monitor and for some reason the right side has always gotten very hot and I have been using it like that ever since i got it. Currently can't afford a new monitor, Is this fixable? Refer to attached images. Also, I'm sorta new here so hi everyone.

I actually never thought that keeping the device off for an extended period of time can cause damage to the device. I own a Surface Pro 6 and I rarely use it. It’s been off for about 3 months now. I’m actually scared that it could be damaged. I know my questions sound a bit stupid but I’m really worried that I could have damaged the device. So I’m asking, how long would it take for the device to be damaged, is there a way to test if everything is still ok and what kind of damage should I expect (worst case scenario)? -
I just got a new Aorus F127Q because I honestly couldn’t stand the absolutely horrible contrast on the 27GL850, plus my unit had terrible backlight bleed. Anyway, everything seems to be great about the F127Q but it makes a strange pretty high pitched buzzing noise. It’s not really that noticeable, especially with headphones on but still pretty weird. What could be the cause of this and can I fix it without replacing it?

I spilt tea on my Logitech G102 mouse. Its not working now. So any suggestions on what to do. I really need to fix this.

It seems most phones with AMOLED I have seen does not appear to have external damage after dropped, yet they fail! So are AMOLED less durable against drops than a LCD? In most cases with LCDs they actually most be cracked before a failure seems to happen. So what is up with that? Is this a thing or just by chance? O3O

Hello ! I have a Sony kdl-42w705b TV, which i havent cleaned in a while and I want to watch the football game tonight but I dont have any specific cleaner for my TV. Only a couple of microfiber cloths and the cleaner that I use to clean my glasses. Now my question is... Can I use the glasses cleaner to clean my display ? Will it work and will it cause any damage to the screen ? I have read some topics on the matter online, from the looks of it, it wont cause any harm. Hey guys! I just tried overclocking the display on my Acer helios 300. I saw a lot of guys on internet going from stock 60Hz to 75Hz so i gave it a try. I just turned it on for a few seconds and it works nice without problems but then i switched it off, becouse i saw a lot of topics on forums, saying that this kind of overclock can reduce monitor's life span from 6-10 years to 3 years or even less. Is that true? The lapotop is brand new and i really dont want to ruin it. My second question is, how much better it would be, if i just turned it to 75Hz for gaming? I am gaming around 1-2 hours, around 3 times per week. And at last, is there any way you could tell if you are hurting the display before you do any real damage? Hello Readers, I have a Ryzen 3 1200 with the wraith stealth cooler and i was starting my build, i bought Arctic Silver 5 Thermal paste and applied it to my CPU. After an hour or so i realised that the Stealth cooler ALREADY! has thermal paste on it and i asked here on linustechtips and people said its bad because it will create a think layer and so i removed the cooler and cleaned the cpu and cooler with ‘Hand Sanitisers’ because i didnt have time to buy 99% alcohol. I removed all the thermal paste from the CPU but i scrached my cooler a bit. I was wondering if i F#CKED UP MY BUILD?

Hi I was replacing ram on my laptop when I accidentally dropped the ram slot cover on the motherboard. I saw a spark and when I turn on the laptop, it did not boot. I know that it's because of esd damage to the motherboard. I want to know if such type of damage is repairable or not. I own a Lenovo Y520 Thanks in advance!

I have the Dell S2417DG monitor and it works great and all but recently I noticed my monitor has this light cloudy marks I dont know how to describe (Pictured below). It is very noticeable when dark colors are in that area, it is not a reflection of anything or smudges on the monitor, I've cleaned it multiple times to make sure, turned off all light sources and it would still appear, It also is not from the computer itself, if you disconnect inputs a black screen appears and it is still there. Is this something I could fix somehow or do I need to request a refund?

hey guys just finished my build and i realized i stupidly put the exhaust fan as an intake fan, I have one standard exhaust fan on the back, and two intake fans in the front of the case, so with the messed up exhaust fan that i ended up making an intake fan at the top of the case, I have total of 3 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan just wondering if this is really bad and i need to change my orientation of the immediately thanks

Hey you guys, I have a question. I have about 10-15 power supplies. definitely worth fixing , they all work. but a big bottle of cola fell on the box and got on the power supplies. we dont want to plug them in because we know it may kill them. and i open a few and there is cola stains all over the board top and bottom. i got a tooth brush and cleaned all the bottom of it ok. but on the top where all the capacitors and resistors are. i have places the toothbrush cant reach. and i've left them soaking in 90 isopropyl alcohol for 48 hours but after i let it dry but the cola is still there. any ideas? i was thinking like a greaser or something like that.

Hi everyone, I got a new cooler, and I took off the old thermal paste to put a new one on. New temps weren't the way I liked them - few deg higher than before - so I thought I put too much paste, and I used the wrong method and got air inside. I took the cooler off, cleaned the paste thoroughly using a microfiber cloth and 99% isopropyl alcohol. I used paper towels in the begining too to take the big lump of paste off, then finished it with the cloth. I scratched the surface of both my IHS and the cooler, it looks terrible and it's making me paranoid. Will this effect the temperatures, or will thermal paste fill it in?

I currently have an MSI b150m pro-d motherboard. After I installed a new cpu I booted the PC and it wouldn't post. I looked and saw that the DRAM warning LED was on indicating a memory failure. I took out the second stick and it booted like a charm. Now it won't work with any stick of ram slotted into the second slot. I have tried using the old cpu, but no luck. The cpu I installed was an i5-6600 skylake cpu. The cpu I had before was an i5-6400 also skylake. My motherboard I believe should have been compatible with the new cpu. I now had to downgrade to a single stick of 16GB instead of the two 8GB.
