  1. Hi, I've got some serious problem. I'm running still CyanogenMod on my phone, did run fine up until 1h ago. Trebuchet keeps crashing and forces a soft restart of my phone, so I can't try any of the possible solutions that you can find, like deleting settings and cache of the launcher. Anyone got an idea how to possibly fix this without completely wiping my phone?

    Cyanogen is shutting down

Cyanogen is known for its version of Android which boasts tons of customization while remaining fluid like Vanilla Android. Its biggest partnership was with OnePlus which made them become largely popular among the Android community. However, just after one device, the OnePlus One, the company had to break its partnership with OnePlus. After years of struggling with bringing the OS to the masses the company has decided to stop its operations. This update means owners of a device that runs the Cyanogen OS — such as the OnePlus One — must now transition over to the CyanogenMod ROM, which is not a commercial product and is managed by a community of developers led by former co-founder Steve Klondik. I honestly liked what the OS had to offer with the promise of customization being present all throughout the software. The problem seems to have rooted from the company itself who has recently laid off workers in order to cut costs which was honestly surprising given the money that was being poured into the company. The good news is that the ROM is still available which is very good news for the loyal OnePlus One people. Source: Cyanogen, TechCrunch
  3. Why did Cyanogen die? Did ever devices ship with these OS? Yes I want to know everything! Wikipedia does not give me any usable facts I need! Also does anyone currently sell devices with these alternative OS? :3
  4. Cyanogen Inc. shifts C-suite, idea for OS following downsizing | Pocketnow Cyanogen outlines exciting new “modular” strategy | TechnoBuffalo Official announcement by Cyanogen Since competing head-on against Google didn't work for them, chopping it up and provide the software in parts might just work. At least, that's how I understood it. I'm glad they decided to try something a bit different. If they kept on going in that direction with McMaster, Cyanogen would've been vaporized. I hope they'll survive.
  5. please please please please help me here, I know it's a stretch but please help me. So, my cunt of a brother stole my old phone (Oneplus One, 64GB, Android Marshmellow based on CyanogenMod) which I had kept as a backup phone and WHICH HAD OVER A YEAR OF VERY SENSITIVE, IMPORTANT MESSAGES, PHOTOS, ETC on it and factory wiped the thing - thinking he'd get to inherit the phone. Now I know factory wipes may be forever but please can someone help me here I powered on the phone to a "Welcome to Cyanogen" page and I really would like anyone to tell me how to recover as much data/photos as I can off my device. I have so many memories that would be forgotten if I can't get my old data back, all my texts and photos of past relationships, with now deceased family members, I really need to get the data back. I'll even pay if it works. From my understanding, the data is still on the phone, but dedicated as "free storage" ? Is there anyway to dump all the storage and files before they're overriden or is Android smarter than that? Please help me ;(
  6. Video Link - brought to you by Android Authority: What do you guys think?
  7. So a few weeks ago I received my ZUK Z1 from amazon as it seemed it had an excellent bang for buck ratio. A Snapdragon 801, 4100mAh battery, 1080p IPS screen, USB type C (3.1), 64GB onboard storage and it runs Cyanogen OS all for £229. Screen The sceen is a 5.5" 1080p IPS panel and this was quite the upgrade from the crap-tastic Galaxy mini with a 240x380 resolution screen. When I first booted it up, it seemed like it was going to be a very cool temperature panel (6500K) and because I get eye strain quite easily, this is where Cyanogen OS helps with its live display, it is basically a tool to change the temperature and colours of the screen. Performance This phone runs the Snapdragon 801 V2 SOC and in Antutu it easily scores 55000 without a sweat as well of getting a single score of 971 and a multi core score of 2956 in Geekbench 3. (WARNING LARGE IMAGE) With daily usage this phone performs flawlessly with no hiccups at all and it is a beast at multi-tasking with 3GB ram.To push it to an even further limit, I played a 1080p 10Bit .MKV file and they require a lot of power to play and to my surprise it played buttery smooth. Also the 64GB flash storage built in has a score of 231MB/s read with a 51MB/s write as you can see this is where ZUK may have cut a corner to get this device so cheap. OS The ZUK Z1 runs 5.1.1 lollipop and has a marshmallow upgrade planned for this upcoming March. Where this device differs is that it runs Cyanogen OS, which is the same thing the OPO runs and it is basically stock android with MUCH MUCH more customization. Using the built in theme engine, the user gets many tweaks available at their fingertips even to change the boot animation. Other ways the OS compliments this device is that you can choose between on-screen and capacitive buttons which can make it easier to use this beast of a 5.5" device. Battery Let me clear one thing up. This battery is insane! It has almighty SOT's ranging from 9H and 30M on heavy use and 10H 30M on medium/ heavy use which for me, lasts around 2 days with a bit of juice left for the third. With it's bundled in charger (A 5V 2A affair) it charges in under two and a half hours from 0%. And because the battery was made by Sony, you can rely on it's quality.
  8. Hello there, I had my Oneplus One rooted a few month ago and today i finally decided to unroot to update the OS. After unrooting with SuperSU I tried to update but while rebooting to update TWRP booted and didn't let me update. So i downloaded the latest cyanogenmod from cyanogenmod.org to flash it with twrp. I reallly am a noob when it Comes to mobile devices, rooting etc, so i downloaded "Latest Release recovery" because when booting it says recovery  i feel kinda dumb while saying this Anyways not knowing what to do i flashed the Image to boot using twrp and after restarting the cyanogen recovery boots, but nothing else. How do i boot the System? And how do i updated now? I tried "Apply update" in cyanogen Recovery but it only takes .zip files or something like that and i only have the .img and i can't get the zip from my pc to my phone because Windows does not identify my phone as something it just says something went wrong when i try to connect via usb I know it was bad to do something i don't know anything about at all and i dont think i will root my phone ever again, because it takes so much effort and knowledge to do an update. Thanks in advance for any help
  9. Article on Android Central about its announcement First-look article on Android Central Hands-on article on Android Central Wileyfox Swift It seems that the king of affordable smartphones, the Moto G, has, what seems to be, a decent competition now. The biggest pro for the Swift is its cheapest storage option, with 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, is slightly cheaper than Moto G's 16GB variant and just slightly more expensive than the 8GB variant. Wileyfox Storm The Wileyfox Storm is Idol 3 (5.5" variant) & Moto X Play's competitor when it comes to specs and price. And it's cheaper than the Moto X Play. It's design somewhat reminds me of OnePlus One and Two, and OPPO Find 7. I just hope they didn't sacrifice too much stuff for its price. Hopefully it'll attract people's attention in a positive way.
  10. Someone needs to teach this shining example of a CEO that you really need to shut your mouth on making any sort of concrete promise to your customers. So never utter a single syllable that so much as lets anyone figure out a date of when your product is supposed to arrive. Don't give a date before you are actually done and can. Don't make such promises. Especially when you've already caught flack before for being a bit of a dunce and not understanding how to handle PR. If someone makes that date for you, dispel those rumours ASAP. Don't let them sit around, otherwise customers are gonna think they are real. But most importantly, don't snap at people over twitter. You're the CEO of a company. Grow up. This isn't how you get taken seriously by anyone. Childish fits are best left in the comment sections of forums or heckling comedians who you think you're funnier than; but not when you're trying to run a company. While we might have preferred something a bit more politically correct, it’s true: Cyanogen has always gone by the “it’s ready when it’s ready” mantra, and they probably don’t deserve the flood of hate rushing their way. http://phandroid.com/2015/04/01/oneplus-one-lollipop-delay-2/
  11. Ok, I have been trying for hours to get Cyanogen mod 12 on my GS4. It is rooted, I have super user. I am new to this but i seem to be getting stuck on installing a recovery thing. I have a GS4 Verizon (I think its the jfltevzw), and I have tried rom instller, twrp manager, cwm recovery, but every time i flash a recovery, whether it says successful or not, I either get stuck in download or Odin mode and have to reflash a kernal using the PAL part of Odin, or it will say you have installed a non verizon software (something like that) and i have to reflash a kernal using the PAL part of Odin. What Do I DO???????!!!!!!!????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!k
  12. Hi, There has been a rise in more obscure brands and their devices you can get unlocked. One brand in particular is Alcatel. They just released a new phone called the Idol 3 (mentioned lightly in this forum) and it would seem like a phone Linus (Media Group) could do a review on. A very inexpensive option with significant specifications. Idol 3 buy page: http://www.alcatelonetouch.us/ALCATEL-ONETOUCH-Idol-3/b/11350980011 There is also news of the new Cyanogen phone from Alcatel, called the Hero 2+. It's a note-style Cyanogen device and seems like a device that barely anyone is paying attention to. Want to arouse some interest and hopefully a review from Linus (Media Group) to inform his audience. Press Release: https://cyngn.com/press/introducing-the-hero-2 Alcatel Nofication sign-up: http://www.alcatelonetouch.us/ALCATEL-ONETOUCH-HERO-2-Unlocked/dp/B00TYQ5CLS P.S.: for future reference if this brand is in the WAN Show, Xiaomi is pronounced SHA-Oh-Mee.
  13. Source: http://gizmodo.com/cyanogen-wants-to-wrestle-android-away-from-google-1681642100 I'm not sure what to say about this. As a oneplus one owner, my feelings toward cyanogen aren't as positive as they were before the whole india/micromax thing. Cyanogen can make a hell of a rom, but I can't agree with how they operate internally. Also the loss of google services is a HUGE hit in my opinion. I have integrated my life into many google services and loosing them might not be the greatest thing. However, I do support an open-source environment as it brings a lot of interesting things to the table. If cyanogen really wants to play rough with google, they better come correct.
  14. Originally an article was posted on OnePlus' blog regarding their apparently severed ties with CyanogenMod in India over an exclusive deal with another phone company. A more recent article has surfaced over at XDA-Developers regarding the situation stating that Indian users will indeed still receive updates to their OnePlus One phones. There may still be an exclusive deal between CyanogenMod and the other phone manufacturers, but somehow this won't hinder updates to already existing OnePlus One owners. Personally speaking, I believe phone manufacturers have a legal obligation to support and maintain their phone hardware/software for a minimum of 2 years, or for the length of your carrier contract, whichever is longer. I understand that they currently have no obligation to do so, and they decide when to "retire" a product as they manufacture it, however, it paints a bad face on both carriers and manufacturers to allow a 2 year old phone to still be purchased on a 3 yr contract, when both the carrier and manufacturer know they will be discontinuing the device before the contract is up. At least advertise support is ending, then let me decide on purchasing the product. This is why I like the mandatory 2 yr manufacturer warranty on certain products sold in the European Union - it provides security and assurance to consumers' purchases. [spoiler=Cyanogen to Update OnePlus One Globally, Even in India - Dec 04 2014] Cyanogen to Update OnePlus One Globally, Even in India Posted December 4, 2014 at 08:30 pm by Tomek Kondrat Just a few days ago, we talked about how Cyanogen Inc. was set to drop support for the OnePlus One in India due to a conflicting contract. According to many articles on the Web, including those from the OnePlus team, exclusive rights to use Cyanogen OS in India were transferred over to Micromax. The One’s makers then announced that they were working hard to create their own operating system that would eventually replace Cyanogen OS as a main operating system on devices produced by OnePlus. It appears that some sort of miscommunication took place between Cyanogen and OnePlus, which lead us and users around the world to confusion. Needless to say, Cyanogen Inc. found the inaccurate uproar disturbing, and decided to release a statement to clarify a few matters that have been raised on various tech sites, including the XDA Portal. According to Cyanogen’s blog, the company will continue to provide updates for all global OnePlus One devices, including those in India. This means that the forthcoming Lollipop update will be available to download everywhere–through the usual update channels such as OTAs and factory images. The company also shed some light regarding its goals for the upcoming months. Cyanogen has signed agreements with two Asian vendors, Micromax and YU. We can only surmise that these partnerships will result in brand new devices by Micromax and YU that will run Cyanogen OS as default. We’re glad to see that everything is now in the clear, and that there is no room for misinterpretation. [source: Cyanogen blog] [spoiler=OnePlus One to Forgo CyanogenMod in India - Nov 30 2014] OnePlus One to Forgo CyanogenMod in India Posted November 30, 2014 at 05:00 am by Tomek Kondrat It appears that the deal between Oppo offshoot OnePlus and Cyanogen Inc. dangles merely by a thread. Last week, OnePlus announced that its One model would launch in India on December 2. Unlucky for all “Flagship Killer’s” fans, Cyanogen decided to granted exclusive rights to “Cyanogen OS” over to Micromax, one of the main rivals to OnePlus in Asia. Cyanogen’s decision came as a surprise both to OnePlus and Indian users. One of the latest OTAs (38R) included the SAR regulations required to enter the Indian market. According to One’s makers, the Indian market launch has been in preparation for a very long time. The decision made by Cyanogen doesn’t mean that the One is dropped and that cygn won’t provide Lollipop. The device will be supported over the next year. OnePlus also stated that next OTA will pack some surprises that will make “users happy.” This weird set of events forced OnePlus’s engineers to focus on their own software. Indian devices will get the community build next month, and a stable Lollipop release will come in February that will be “stable, fast and lightweight.” The company will avoid unnecessary bloatware and skinning. The ROM will contain features requested by the community. The announcement from OnePlus is probably a signal that the cooperation with Cyanogen Inc. may come to an end in other regions as well. It wasn’t ever set in stone permanently, but many users bought the One because of its firmware, which was light, clean, and customizable. Hopefully OnePlus will manage to keep its software in a similar spirit. [via OnePlus Blog]
  15. So what custom rom is best ui for G2 (I Use CM 11 On my G2 Right Now )
  16. so I broke my phone screen recently which meant that I could no longer use the bottom third of the touchscreen. I then decided it would be a great idea to install cyanogenmod on my phone. I am now stuck on the "welcome to cyanogenmod" screen because I have to press an icon I cannot press. Is there any way that I can get past this screen and into the actual OS without repairing the screen. any help will be greatly appreciated. My phone is an LG nexus 4
  17. Hi guys, I bought a used HTC One M7 off a fellow forum member. He sent it to me with Cyanogen Mod installed. However, for varying reasons, I had to flash the vanilla AT&T ROM onto it. Now, when I try reinstalling CM, it fails. It shows a red triangle with a phone coming out of it when I try installing TWRP/SuperSU Installer after the first reboot. This is where I'm stuck as I'm not sure how else to install CM. When I boot to it's Bootloader, this is what I see: I know for a fact that it had CM on it before, so I assume it's rooted. Not sure what TAMPERED or UNLOCKED means. I've tried googling this issue (where the red triangle comes up), but haven't found anything specific to help. Apparently something green is supposed to come up that basically says it's working. Any help is appreciated.
  18. Just a week before the release of Oneplus One in India, Cyanogen announces exclusive rights to Micromax. So no updates for indian users of oneplus one for cyanogen. The link- https://oneplus.net/blog/2014/11/a-letter-to-our-indian-users/ This week, we announced that the OnePlus One will finally launch in India on December 2, 2014. This has been a long time coming both for our Indian fans, who have been incredibly patient, and everyone behind the scenes who have been working towards this moment since June. OnePlus and all of our partners, including Cyanogen, have put countless hours of work into making this launch a success. Just last month, on October 7, Cyanogen released the 38R OTA update which included SAR values inside phone settings to comply with Indian regulations. Therefore, it was surprising and disappointing to hear from Cyanogen on November 26 that they had granted exclusive rights in India over the Cyanogen system to another company. Prior to this, OnePlus and Cyanogen have successfully cooperated to release the OnePlus One or carry out commercial operations in 17 countries and regions (including India). It is truly unfortunate that a commitment we both made to our Indian users will now not be upheld. The One will continue to be supported globally and receive frequent OTAs. In fact, the next update will pack some surprises with which we think you’ll be very happy. Cyanogen has unequivocally committed to continuing this global support and we look forward to working with them for another year on continuously improving our device. But today, we address our Indian users who may feel disappointed or deceived. We can’t explain Cyanogen’s decision because we don’t fully understand it ourselves. But we can explain exactly how we’ll continue offering our fans in India an amazing user experience and support for this device. OnePlus was founded not even a year ago and we have grown and evolved immeasurably since then. But our priorities have never wavered: our product and our users. Over the past year, we’ve often reflected on ways to better serve both. Those reflections led us to start developing our own Android team, as we’ve previously announced. That team was put in place originally to build the software which would power our future devices. So, though it’s not what we originally planned, we have shifted engineering efforts to the OnePlus One upon hearing this news. According to our current estimations, we’ll be able to release our first community build to our Indian users next month and have a production-ready build in February. Our system will be based on Lollipop, and will be built to be stable, fast, and lightweight. True to our original promise of putting user experience first, it will be bloatware-free and only carry the features important to our users. We appreciate the work that Google has put into Android, and we have no plans of departing from Material Design nor adding unnecessary customizations. We can’t wait to hear your feedback and to build it together with you. We will commit to at least two years of support for the OnePlus One, starting from the release of our first community build. When our system reaches a production-grade build, we will identify where larger clusters of our users are, and set up stations where we’ll meet you face to face and help you flash your existing OnePlus One to the new system. Of course, we will also offer online instructions for those who prefer to flash their devices from the comfort of their homes. As we fast approach the first anniversary of OnePlus, we’ve been looking back on the past year. Our experiences have made us think hard about what’s really important in life, what culture we want to build, and what legacy we want to leave behind. These are difficult questions that we’ll need more time on. But at the very least, we want to remind ourselves to think long term, while always doing good by our users, partners and employees. We’re extremely excited and confident about the team we’re building for our future system. We want to hear your feedback during a Reddit AMAA we are planning to host on /r/Android on December 5. Thank you for accompanying us on our journey, and thank you for your support. See you there! Never Settle. - See more at: https://oneplus.net/blog/2014/11/a-letter-to-our-indian-users/#sthash.fsxkd2qg.dpuf
  19. So basically multiple companies including Samsung Amazon and Microsoft already expressed interest in CyanogenMod, however now even Google has showed Interest, however CyanogenMod is not interested. Holy crap, They are the one who resists them all. 20. My favorite ROM that is a always go to ROM is Cyanogen Mod because it gives you close to bone stock android and adds features that you would actually use like an audio equalizer and other stuff like customizing your quick settings and keeping the OS looking clean because of the stock android look.
  21. So I used the Cyanogenmod installer to install Cyanogen on my S2, but now I would like to install another rom(I am open to suggestions) as I am feeling adventurous, so I was wondering, does the Cyanogen installer already unlock the bootloader and root the phone? Since I have root access and I have the recovery option. So basically, I just want to know if I can just install the Rom itself, since I used the Cyanogen Installer, or if I need to do something special before that.
  22. Not sure which one I should get. Love the value within the One Plus One, but isn't a proven brand. Does it even satisfy safety requirements? Nexus 5 is also fantastic, price is basically the same but I get worse specs, definitely a proven brand though, which appeals to me... What do you guys think?
  23. Okay so I've been wanting to get into rooting my Android phone (Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch) for a while. I finally upgraded and thought since there was no potential loss at this point it was a "why the hell not" time to do it. So I'm trying to get Cyanogen onto it and.... I'm stuck. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_d710 I'm using this link for instructions on how to do it.^ I keep getting stuck on this part (I'll insert an image) and keep getting this error (again). I only put ASAP because I would like to go to bed soon and am not sure if theres a turning back at this point to try again another day. I guess I bit off more than I thought I could chew here, so any help is greatly appreciated.
  24. Hi everyone! I hope this is the place. I have unlocked and rooted my Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 but there are no exact mods for my tablet. I am wondering if you guys know what would most closely match what I have and preferably from Cyanogen. Right now I have a recovery mod from ClockWorkMod but it does not replace the OS of course. I am currently running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and would like to go as high as possible with a compatible version of Android. Lenovo/Google seems to have no plans of pushing out another OS upgrade to my device. This is a Tegra 3 tab, front/back low res cams, SRS audio, yadda yadda yadda I have been to Cyanogen's site I have been to CMW's site I am registered at xda-developers.com And I have the latest Android SDK from Google on my PC Please help. Thanks!
  25. Hello all, I might be picking up a GS3 for $60 on Tuesday. I'd like to flash it with CM11 but I can't find the appropriate ROM on the CM Download page. Can anyone tell me if I can use the AT&T firmware? I thought you could because the AT&T and Rogers GS3 are the same Model. Any help is appreciated.
