  3. Hi everyone, I'm excited to be putting together my first custom loop! I've gone over a whole bunch of material - including the resources provided by this awesome forum - to prepare myself. Before buying any cooling components; I wanted to get some different opinions on what different people might do. Looking for component recommendations, layouts, color schemes, etc. All ideas are welcome. Here are some points I'm using as a guide to help me find the components I need: Nothing Exotic. Getting the maximum performance isn't the goal. I want to learn the process, and enjoy putting it together. Reliability. I keep reading that the pump is where I might want to spend a bit extra. Maintenance. Anything to help make things like draining or filling the loop to be relatively easy. No Bends. Straight hard tubes with angled joints wherever needed. Compatibility. I'd rather buy parts from the same manufacturer to make things easier for myself. If I'm not mistaken; the ROG Formula VIII board has EKWB blocks to cool the VRMs? I'm thinking that might be a good place to get the rest of my components? Here's a link to the rest of the parts I got to go with the motherboard: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GBhB9N Looking forward to hear from you all. Thanks!
  4. Budget (including currency): 300-350 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone, I am looking to upgrade the power supply on my custom built PC. This PC was my fathers who passed in 2013. I have no idea what brand/wattage this PSU is as it is completely powder coated with no info on it. I’m looking to get a modular power supply to remove some of the clutter of extra wires as I no longer use external drives at all. System Specs: i7 - 9700k 5.0ghz over clock at 1.35v (possible 9900k upgrade) MSI 2070Super Ventus OC (Upgrading to 3080 or 6800x let the Newegg gods bless me) **this is not currently water cooled but will be water cooled on GPU Upgrade** 4x 8GB 3600 c16 Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Memory 2x Samsung 1tb NVME 970 EVO 1x Samsung 2tb NVME 970 EVO 2x 6 fan radiators (3x on each side) 1x 2 fan radiator (1x on each side) Double reservoir dual pump 7 standard fans 1x Standard optical drive(90% of time unplugged) (Yes it’s a B*tch to clean) the case is but enough to fit any size PSU, it’s a complete custom built so no reference but kinda pic provided from what’s in camera roll.don’t judge blank walls they have stuff now.
  5. So, straight to the point. Noise emitted from the GPU, definitely sounds and screeches like coil whine. Recently, Turning OFF Vsync starts this coil whine effect, while turning ON Vsync has the opposite effect. Running games like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2033, Squad, Halo etc. Built my loop about a month ago. Fans are super quiet (Phanteks T30 120mm) + Pump RPM at 1200. No noise, super quiet and super cool. Around 50-55C on CPU, 60-70C GPU on average for most games on Ultra at 1440p. Apologies for Potato Quality but Imgur decides to reduce 4k Quality on the IPhone for some reason. tdV71Ie.mp4 Can someone explain what is happening in terms of the GPU itself deciding to scream its lungs out? Noticeable loud pitched, video doesn't do it justice. Photo for Reference to Build. I've checked the fittings, FAN RPM, PUMP RPM, loop, flushed the loop, turned off the PC, Flipped it in a 360 direction just to make sure no air bubbles are causing a whiny noise, which has been ruled out. So, whats your thoughts? Anyone experience or still experience this and know a definitive solution or answer?
  6. So I just finished my water cooling loop, air tested everything for about 20 or so hours for it to only drop maybe less than half a bar, so I was ready to get her filled up with coolant until I realized how short this tube is, it doesn't make contact with the O ring in the fitting itself, but the air test went phenomenally. Would this cause an issue when actual liquid is inside, or would it be safe to go ahead and use this. Thanks!
  7. As the title states, I dropped the plastic tip to my squeeze bottle while filling my custom loop up and now it’s stuck inside, what do I even do??? The pump/reservoir in question is the Corsair XD3 rgb, I have 2 280mm rads, soft tubing, Corsair cpu block, ekwb, I’m still doing my leak tests but I have no idea how to get that plastic piece out but so far it’s not stopping the water from flowing. PLZ HELP
  8. Hello guys. This is my system at the moment: I ordered a MSI RTX 3080 Ventus X3. It will approximately arrive at the end of January. In the meantime I'm planning my first custom loop. I will go with soft tubing because it fits the aesthetic of my simple matte black build perfectly and I don't want to start with hard tubing. I already chose a CPU block, a GPU block, fittings as well as matte black soft tubing. I really would like to have a distroplate like Jayz2Cents used in his newest AMD Build: But I don't know if there is one that fits in my Dark Base 900 rev2 case. Can you recommend something? Thanks in advance for your help and happy holidays. Martin
  9. Hello im planning to order a custom watercool loop and I have some questions for what i need. First off im gonna be using Byski and my loop will use: -D5 Pump 1100 L/h -Cpu block -M2 nvme block -Ram Block -360mm Rad -custom distro plate that i will be designing -flow/temp sensor -16 MM tubes Im planning to add in the future a GPU block (i have a vega 56 theres not any blocks for it on the market). The loop will be as such : Pump ---> M2 nvme ---> distro plate ---> Cpu ---> Ram ----> Distro plate ----> 360mm Rad ---> Distro Plate Will my pump be strong enough to push all the water fast enough so my components dont get hot? I know that usually people only watercool the CPU and GPU but i wanna go full Custom. I only had one watercool loop with soft tube and only CPU so its gonna be the first time i try hardline These are the parts I will be buying let me know if everything is compatible. PS: I already have a thermaltake Hard tube 16mm but its written 5/8 on it and all my components are 1/4 so are they not compatible? Thanks everyone, Stay safe
  10. Hi everyone. I'm looking to install a water block on the XFX THICC III 5700XT GPU. While I have already taken it apart and put it back together for curiosity's sake, I'm now looking to install the water block with a radiator and pump in my system. I have space for a 240mm Radiator or a 360mm Radiator in the Be quiet! Pure Base 500 tempered glass case. A quick search on YouTube doesn't show any results for my specific card to what is needed in terms of components, fittings and such. Is there a generic guideline or list needed to tick off what is needed to complete the water loop? The idea is to mount either a 240mm to the top of the case or a 360mm radiator to the front of the case and run it to the pump and GPU water block. If anyone could provide specifics or just some information on what I need to get started, please feel free. This is the Water Block I intend to order off Alpha Cool > https://www.alphacool.com/shop/gpu-water-cooler/amd-fullsize/25912/alphacool-eisblock-aurora-acryl-gpx-a-radeon-rx-5700-xt-thicc-ii/iii
  11. Started building this computer at the beginning of quarantine, modified it heavily to play with air-cooled components and give it its own character, including adding top and side panel exhaust fans. Ive been collecting parts to eventually water cool it, and realized I was running out of time before the components were completely last gen, so I went for it and water-cooled it last week. I ended up trying to replace the chipset fan and integrate it into the loop, which looks awesome, but I think is pointless, as the entire system heat soaks to 75 degrees and the loop starts heating up the chipset ( ) so ill be taking that out of the loop to see how it does with passive cooling. It all came together pretty nicely, and I realized soft tubing was the way to go for this, because I can actually manage to remove all of the components of the loop as one piece for maintenance I of course found this out, because I forgot to remove the plastic from the monoblock when I first installed it. Wondering if I should have gone with a more efficient front radiator than the Ultra Slim, if that would make a difference. Ive learned that likely because there's so little space and so little water in the system, this hits a point of totally heat soaked fairly quickly, but I'm satisfied with the system able to maintain 75 degrees. I do plan on continuing to work on this, possible adding a more efficient front radiator, better slim fans,(ive already ordered noctua) making a tighter seal between the radiators and fans, to get the most efficiency out of this I can. Possible down the road I might try and add quick disconnects to loop in an external radiator, I dont seem to feel satisfied without continued mad science and benchmarking... All ideas welcome! 12. So today i changed the liquid in my custom loop, after it running for a year. While changing the fluid i switched the CPU block from a EKWB-Velocity, to a EKWB Monoblock for the Asus Hero XI. Other than that i changed the GPU from horizontal to vertical, and bend some new hardtubing ofc for the change of CPU block and GPU direction. My GPU has a EKWB Quantum Vektor cooler on it, and its a 2080 TI, and running a i9-9900k as my cpu. However this so called upgrade ended in my cpu temps doubling, and my GPU temps going a lot up aswell, before the change my CPU was 30-50 at all time, and my GPU never above 41, even when under load, now CPU idle is 50, and GPU idle is 45. I removed most of the bubbles that was possible and in general removed as much air in the loop as possible yet i see these high temperatures, and wondering if there was any sugestions as what could cause this? And yes i do belive i applied enough theremalpaste and tightened the monoblock tight to the CPU. I changed my overclocking from 5.1GHZ off, and whent to factory settings, and yet no change in temps. *Specs* Asus Hero XI I9-9900k RTX 2080 TI Strix OC Edition 64GB Corsair 3200hz CPU Cooler - Asus Hero XI monoblock GPU Block - EK-Quantum Vector EK-D5 pump/res combo Using same liquid as before and flushed out the old liquid with destilled water, and again running EK-Blood red premix
  13. So I've been thinking about making a custom loop for my new build. These are my watercooling parts. I think I got everything that I needed but not sure. Any feedback would be appreciated. 14. In your opinion what is the best rgb with high static pressure and air flow for h20 and what one do you think looks the best. It seems that there is lots of new rgb fans flooding the market is there any people know of that are up and coming that might be better then what is currently available? I will be redoing my custom loop soon and replacing my current fan setup and just looking for some decent cooling with rgb touch! Don't hate I know there is tons of people they do not like rgb. Does anyone know how well the new soon to be released Aurora rgb fans perform? https://www.inwin-style.com/en/fans/aurora
  15. Okay, so a while ago I was watching a video of a custom loop pc and saw something that got me really interested. I think it was JPModified but cannot find a video of it on his channel. I saw that they were using a Corsair h100i v2 for the cpu block, with hardline assumed PETG tubing. Does anyone know how this was done? I’m not looking to expand a Corsair h100i, the pump is definitely not strong enough I’m solely interested in using the cold plate with some PETG connected to the rest of my own loop.
  16. Help please, I’m new to water cooling and just bought everything I knew I would need, pump, reservoir, Cpu block, radiator, tubing and just got my fittings theyre monsoon free center compression fittings for flex tubing and they came with two sets of O rings all I know is that one set is UV reactive and the other is a back up. Do I put the o rings on the barb end or the g1/4 end.
  17. My first custom loop. Blood sweat and cuts. Leak test for a few hours. Case didnt make it easy to build in. Drain valve in worst place. Apart from that im happy. When full system on should look good. RGB from fans and gpu block.
  18. Hey guys, I am planning on building a new rig that will be able to handle basically everything, I play games, AAA titles and MOBAs, but the primary reason for this entire build is for my side business that I am hoping to grow significantly this year. I work with drones, taking pictures, videos and collecting data from construction sites, farms quarries and so on. Basically a pretty varied load. There will be some rendering of 4K videos, photo editing and over night the rig will be crunching the numbers for Pix4D datasets. I am looking for feedback on this build. Any changes you would make, and why? I am not looking for the most budget friendly build, hence the RGB, because I thought damn it if I am spending this much on the CPU alone, might as well go all out. This will be my first time doing a custom loop on my own, but have helped some buddies before so it's not entirely new to me. I am trying to have it optimized for some overclocking, not too much, and for it being quiet as it will be living at my desk in the living room... 19. A little over a year ago when I was trying to build a budget gaming pc that I could play vr on. I had bought a used corsair aio and it kicked the bucket within a week. I bought another one and it ended doing the same thing both pumps just gave out. So I decided I needed something more reliable that could cool my overclocked i5 3570k. I decided to go to Lowe's and Amazon to buy a few things. I already had radiators from the two aios that gave out and I knew the metals would be fine since they were both identical aios. Note this was also my first time ever trying to do any sort of custom loop stuff. I typically just used aios or air coolers since I gamed on console mostly I had no reason for a super custom pc at the time. The build list was $10 for hose clamps $4 for the hose nipple things $5 for a few feet of clear hose $13 for a cheap pump from Amazon that was ment for a small fountain. With the tools in hand I decided it was time to get to work. And I was very suspicious if it would even work so I fully hooked the loop up outside of my pc and set it on a white towel and let it run over night to see if it was going to leak. And to my surprise it did not. I put it in my pc right next to my Asus turbo 1080ti and boy was that scary haha. The final product kept my PC at idle around 20c and I believe around 60 while gaming with three monitors running with apps on each one. Ps. I'd love to see what you guys think of this super sketchy but reliable loop. It was much more effective than any aio I had. Itd be awesome to see this thing in a video on the channel lol
  20. I swapped out my wifi adapater and when i turned off my computer and flicked the back switch off i pressed the power button to make sure all the powers out. Make it completely dead of power, which is what ive done for years with no issue. Just to note, right before this, unrelated to the wifi card my boot ssd wasnt recongnised as boot priority#1 for some reason. So when id boot itd say i need to plug in a media device or whatever, which i fixed. Its not related but i thought i may aswell mention it, just in case. And now after with everything seemingly fine, it wont even turn on! I've done the whole change the socket its plugged in and what not, changed the ac cable. Its not that. I tryed clearing cmos for whatever that would do when its completely unresponsive in the first place. I even got another powersupply and hooked it up to power it on. Nothing! This is tremendously annoying as ive got a hard lined custom loop thats been running perfectly for 2 months now. My specs Cpu: ryzen 3700x Motherboard: gigabyte x470 aurous ultra gaming Gpu: rtx 2080 Ram: 2x8 corsair vengence pro rgb 3000mhz Ssd: samsung evo 250gb boot Ssd: 2x samsung qvo 1tb Hhd: seagate 1tb Any help would be appreciated!!
  21. Hello there, it's my first post here so please don't be judge me if I'm doing it wrong (And please don't kill me on grammar - english is not my native language). I've recently build my first ever custom waterloop pc. I've not spare in parts so I've orded everything directly from EK in Slovenia. The build was all fun and stuff but now after like 4.5 weeks my liquid looses it's color. I've read about the color fading but i haven't seen anything about it fading after 4 weeks. I've used the EK-CryoFuel Solid Cloud White (Conc. 250mL) and mixed it with destilled water as described on the label. My question now is: do I get any temperature or flow problem with the liquid losing its color? I've got no flowsensor and everything looks fine temperature wise but the color pigments have to go somewhere and I'm kinda afraid that become like plug and kill my loop. I've given my system a good shake like a bottle and turned the pump up too 100% for a day now and in my opinion it made it even worse. I'm thankfull for everyadvise you can give me. P.S.: The spare mixed liquid I've got is sitting next to the tower and is still perfectly white.
  22. I am about to assemble a new computer with a 9900k OC to 5Ghz at 1.3v on the core installed on an ASUS Maximus XI Formula mobo and was wondering what the thermal impact would be on my water loop (2x 360mm rad including GPU also)? Would the temps increase by much or would they stay around the same idle (CPU 50ish C, Fluid 35ish C, GPU 35C)? Also any recommendations on thermal past for the CPU?
  23. How often do you clean and mantinace your loop? For my part i try to change the colant once a year and every 2 years rip everything appart and give it a propper clean, brush, new tubes and seals. Allso: What do you think about things like mayhems blitz? Cleaning solutions to flush trough your loop to cealn aout gunk etc Thanks for your oppinions
  24. I've had a black screen issue for about 4 months now. It is consistent in that it happens more frequently when im playing games, but it is not only when i play games. The game will drasticly drop framerate as if cpu load was maxed 10-15fps then will freese with picture durring this time I will still be able to hear sound including discord, then finally black scrren no sound monitors on but black with computer still running and will continue to run until hard reset. Sometimes willnot black screen will just freese with audio. All temps seem consistently normal and i have plenty of airflow over motherboard. I have tried a few things : ran 1 gpu at a time Updated bios Reset bios Replaced PSU Taken /:C Out of raid reinstalled windows Tested all Ram Sticks individually cheked CPU socket for bent pins/damage Specs: 4820k Base clock x2 gtx 1080 hydro copper WC 16GB ddr3 corsair vengence ram Asus Rampage Black IV evga 1000w gold psu 2 2tb segate barracuda running raid 0 1 samsung 850 pro 128gb 1 samsung 850 pro 128gb 1 4tb WD black Edit: added psu
  25. Won an 8086k from the Intel Sweepstakes. Decided to heavily mod my DeepCool Earlkase. Really loving this sweet Optimus waterblock. My goal for this case was to have the loop serviceable by only removing the front panel. The Earlkase uniquely provides a removable mesh that allows access to the reservoir. I had a wild idea to "integrate" the loop into the case using the front vertical partition, from there it spiraled out of control. I wanted to also have the handle for the drain fitting and a drain port passing through the front of the case, simply remove the front panel, remove drain block-off plug, screw in a hose and turn the handle to drain. I intend to add a fill port at the top, but for the most part it is "done", if there is such a thing as "done" Will update with RGB/UV lighting later today. 8086k (will be delidded) Aorus Gaming 7 16GB G.Skill CL15 3000mhz GTX1070 with EKWB block (cut to fit) 2x Samsung 850 Evo Optimus Waterblock Swiftech MP50X XSPC Ion Reservoir XSPC 280mm top rad Nemesis GTS 240mm front rad Arctic F12 Push/Pull on both rads Seasonic 750W Modular
