I am in the market for a set of cans, and I am able to get the hyperX Cloud 2s and the sound blaster tactic 3d rage wired headset for the same price. I was unable to try either before purchase, as they only had closed box units of those two, but I purchased the cloud 2s with the assurance that I could swap them with no hassle whatsoever. The sound blasters had several advantages over the clouds though: Removable / interchangeable cable. Allows replacement + reduces likeliness of break. The cloud 2 headset comes with a shorter 3.5mm cable built in that can attach to the usb sound card volume control + extension The sound blasters have mute + volume controls built into the ear cup, allowing easier accessibility IMHO + the ability to adjust volume without having a usb sound card attached, like when I use it with PS4. They are identical in all other respects, both have metal frame construction, removable mic, and good audio quality from what I've heard, but I went for the cloud 2s since I've heard more about them, whereas the tactic 3d rage is quite obscure. Is it worth exchanging them for these advantages?

*warning* This is a shit load of things to read, if you cant handle story time there is nothing for you here lol. with that said here's the story! Ok so the story begins a week or so ago when I decided to shove a Creative SoundBlaster ZS in my computer, I had it lying around collecting dust so I just said to myself "Whats the worst that can happen lol?" and this is the story of the shit that happened: I shut off my PC and put it on my kitchen table for surgery, touched the tap to ground myself or something and commenced with the operation. I scouted out that the second lowest slot on my motherboard was probably the best place to put it so it wouldn't interfere with my horrible, basically nonexistent, cable management. I unscrewed the cover and slotted the card in, I chose a pink screw and tightened the card into place, also just btw my mobo and PCI openings on the case don't line up that well so I usually have some problem installing new stuff in the case, I routed back the cables I had unplugged to fit it in and put it back in my room. I plugged everything back in except for my headset, flipped the switch on the powersuply and started the computer. It booted right up without any problems and everything seemed fine, I then proceeded to plug in my headset into the sound card and there was no sound, nothing. I was a bit surprised at first but then I remembered that I probably needed some drivers for it so I hoped on google and checked for them and the first result was to Creatives official website, this sound card was ofcourse marked as end-of-line and had no more real support but there was a driver from 2010 on there so I downloaded it and booted the installer. Everything seemed fine until it suddenly said "Please connect hardware you wish to install the drivers for and press OK" I was surprised because it was clearly installed in my case but I gave the PCI card a wiggle and then tried again, same error, and again, same error. At this point I was getting pretty pissed but I shut down the PC, removed the card and reinstalled it and the started it back up and now the driver installer was nice and let me install it. After several reboots during installation of the driver it was finally done so I plugged in my headset to the card again and still nothing, I realized it was not set as the standard unit in the sound controller after a little while and I fiddled around with it for a while to get the right thing selected and I think I deactivated something in the process but I'm really not sure what I deactivated.. I then tried again and after a while I could only get the sound out to work, not the mic but I was fine with that and used the motherboard for the mic and that worked just fine, and that's how I had it, until today. Today I found out that I actiually had the Audigy ZS Platinum Ex! I found a manual on how to install it and all the cables and the 3.25" extension just in a pile so installed them, did something about the shitty cable management and found some .25" David Clark headphones my dad had and reinstalled the drivers. After a LOT of trubble with it I got sound out of it, but with a lot of noice and almost worthless quality, so I started to google. After 10min of googling I found a solution, finally I found something that worked, the KX Project! I had some trouble with those drivers as well, not installing properly, but in the end I got them installed. I then spent about 20 seconds figuring out what to put as my standard playback unit and so on but in the end I got it working! I am right now listening to some music with my David Clark's and everything is working perfectly right now. Hope you enjoyed this read and respect to those who read all this .

Creative just released their new lines of Sound Blaster X headphones with detachable mic. I wonder how they will sound. Something tells me that will be very close to HyperX Cloud line of headphones/headsets but I hope that they will sound better. A couple of pics : They look beautiful though.

Hey guys, I just bought a mod mic 4.0, and after testing it with both my sound card and motherboard I get white noise. The white noise appears whenever my mic is on, but the volume of the white noise does not increase if i talk, it stays the same. Turning down the overall volume of the mic does decrease the white noise, but that renders the mic useless. I could buy this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003ZM0XIY/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B003ZM0XIY&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwtota0e-21 From what I've heard hooking that up to the mod mic will fix it, but i wanted to hear from you guys if you know anything that might help.

Hey friends, I have 2 problems I need to address. 1. A while ago my PC randomly reset all my audio settings such as EQ. Not sure why, but I went through it all again and it all seems normal. However, when I am playing music and have a game or something open, the music sometimes goes quiet. It's not the setting in Windows for communication programs to make everything quiet, because I have checked that and it is set to do nothing. Only when something else loud happens in another program it happens. I am running a Creative Soundblaster sound card!!! 2. I have also started hearing some popping from my headphones. I am using a reasonable amp, I don't think it is a lack of power because it was fine before hand. It isn't too bad, but enough to annoy me. I honestly don't know what is going on, and I have asked all my mates and no one really understand what I am saying. I hope the screenshots of my Soundblaster settings helps!!! Cheers guys!

I want to record a tutorial, but I have stumbled upon a problem. If I use the Voice Recorder built into Windows I either get white noise or a high pitched noise (used two different mics). Using the built in voice recorder in Sony Vegas movie studio gave the same result. The interesting thing is that when I use TeamSpeak - the audio is better (no white noise but it's a lot quieter). My questions: Do I have to get a "better" audio recording program? or Do I have to get a better mic or Do I have to get a audio adapter? If I have to get the audio adapter is the Creative Sound Blaster Play a good budget choice? I won't be doing game play commentary - just some tutorials [ http://www.komputronik.pl/product/75609/Sprzet_komputerowy_/Podzespoly/Creative_Sound_Blaster_Play.html ]

Like title says are built in speakers really that bad I won't use my headset all the time. Also in PcPartpicker when I see a build that has a monitor they rarely come with external speakers so I was wondering do i really need them. If I do which ones would I get? My budget is $60 I'm leaning toward the Z506. Yet i'ts my 1st time using 5.1 surround sound. I don't know is I should get 2.1 or 5.1.

So for my final project in my computer programming class (visual basic...not by choice) i'm making a maze game type thing. like where you move with WASD controls and you have to make your way through a maze and the quicker you get through it the more points you get. i was thinking about making maybe like 6 levels and a score board and have it where you have to beat each level to move onto the next and each one you beat you get a rating of 1-3 stars. and each level is more difficult than the last. and each one would have different music playing. i was just wondering though if you guys had any ideas on what else i could add to this game to make it more interesting/ set it apart from others projects. thanks

Hello, I would consider myself somewhat PC savvy as I have successfully built and maintained by current rig, but this issue has left me completely confused. I have an Astro A40 headset, and recently when in Skype calls my friends have been complaining of hearing what I'm hearing, be it music, and YouTube video etc, even when my Mic was muted. After disabling all other audio devices including Line In, "What U Hear" etc this issue still persisted after testing with recording tools, so I purchased a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium in order ot try to solve this, yet this had no effect on the problem. After contacting Astro support and essentially receiving a whole new audio system the issue still persists. Yet on other PC's this issue does not occur, and when testing other headsets on my PC is still does occur. I tried re-flashing my BIOS and checking that there was no interference between cables, but as I eventually resorted to using the Astro Mixamp, EM interference isnt the cause. I am completely at a loss, and any input into how I would fix this issue would be hugely appreciated. I also have a similar but unrelated issue since purchasing the sound card, as in order for the sound to work at all, I need to enable both SPDIF and Speaker in the Playback devices as disabling Speaker causes programs like iTunes and VLC to crash and not play any audio, whilst disabling SDPIF causes no Sound to play at all, as my Mixamp uses SPDIF as an input. I have to also select Speaker as my default device, now meaning that the software-based volume control is useless as even at mute the volume stays the same. Although this is trivial compared to my issue above My specs: 4770k @ 4.7GHz 12Gb RAM 290x MSI Mpower Max Z87 Creative SoundBlaster XFi Titanium Win7 64-Bit

((Disclaimer: While I could have made this topic in Linus' Videos News and Ramblings, I felt it would be more appropriate to discuss this on the CPU thread instead.)) I'm a content-creator who enjoys streaming while I do so, I am always running skype for comunicating with other content-creators, I am always running a browser in the background for reference, social media, and occasionally streaming, AND I like to do animation so while the animation reels are rendering in the background, I prefer to game or draw more content WHILE STREAMING. No surprise, my current build is sluggish and hard to work with. According to Linus' video on CPU Cores for Gaming, Streaming, & Rendering Simultaneously - Is More Actually Better, I realized if I don't want to sacrifice my usual computer workflow, I might want to start thingking about doing a serious upgrade to my computer with a focus on a higher end CPU with more cores. Will more cores actually help me in my case? What should I be looking for in my next build as far as CPU's go?

Hey everyone, So I'm currently a student studying design and this will be my last year at university. I'm looking to build a proper work computer just for now that's affordable yet packs a punch in games within the $2600 (Australian) mark. This PC will mainly be used with Photoshop, After Effects/ Premier and even perhaps branching into Maya or Zbrush. So I will need something that will have minimal brush lag on high resolution canvases in PS and just a computer that can tank most of my video editing and annimation work. As for games I'm just super psyched for Star Wars Battlefront 3 hahaha, so I want to be ready for that, oh and also GTA 5. Here's my list, hope I did good haha http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/fYRJGX I didn't add W8.1 because I think I'm able to get it at a student price which is half of what OEM would be. As for peripherals, right now I'll just use my mouse, keyboard and monitor from my old Dell pc from 2009. heh I'll try to upgrade these when I can. I'm aiming to buy an IPS monitor down the track and perhaps even further down going ahead with sli 980s. So yeah let me know what you think, I'm interested to hear opinions and I hope eveythings together haha. As I'm posting this now I realise this has a lot of msi parts in it, don't know why.

Hello. I'm a junior in high school and im bored sitting in ISS for the day. Oddly enough though, they let me use my school chromebook, which kinda defeats the purpose of ISS. Regardless though, i was thinking of how to entertain myself. And i was thinking, lets write a story together! Ok, so everyone just add a sentence onto the last one and i guess we'll just have to see where this goes. Once upon a time, there was a small boy named Linus.

Hey guys, I have a question. Would you be interested if I make a log about repairing volume control on my old Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 using standart electronics components ? Potentiometer in that volume control started fluctuating up and down randomly (common problem) and it started to annoy me so I did take it apart to find out if I can replace it somehow, because you can't use the speakers without it. I got it functional by using random components I find laying around and ordered the right stuff that I need. So please write your opinion on this topic (it could maybe help somebody ?) I know it's not hardware modding per se but maybe you are interested anyway or is it boring for you ? And by the spirit of LTT it's going to be ghetto, functional but ghetto TL:DR My volume control went and I gonna be repairing it the ghetto DIY way, should I make a log or no ? Culprit 2017 note - This was one of my first threads here, getting used to posting and it's little rough around the edges as a result. Still, nice to hear that it's helping people out.

I've been wanting to get a pair of stylish, yet good speakers for a while now. Mainly because I'm tired of being bound by a cord, when watching a movie with my headphones, but also to relieve my head of the clamping. Requirements wise, I just want them to be small, compact, and preferably 2.0. And of course, like every speaker, you'd want them to sound good/decent. This is what I've looked at so far: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LaCie-Speakers-Design-Neil-Poulton/dp/B001FA0FZE http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00544XKK4/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d9_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0EZKVY18A3ZANP2XNR76&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455344027&pf_rd_i=468294 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Inspire-T10-Multimedia-Speakers/dp/B000WQIKJ0/ref=lp_429889031_1_15?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1417552112&sr=1-15 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-A60-2-0-Desktop-Speakers/dp/B003829J68/ref=sr_1_79?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1417552203&sr=1-79 http://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-A100-USB-Powered-Computer-Speakers/dp/B00GHY5F3K/ref=sr_1_83?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1417552203&sr=1-83 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Edifier-Sound-Plus-Portable-Speaker/dp/B00812MKU2/ref=sr_1_120?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1417552232&sr=1-120 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trust-Remo-USB-2-0-Speaker/dp/B005625WR8/ref=sr_1_149?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1417552315&sr=1-149

I'm thinking of purchasing the "Photography" edition of Creative Cloud, but since I'm planning to move away from my precious Windows 7 about 2-3 months after the Windows 10 release, it seems like a waste. Well more to the point: Can I install Creative Cloud on multiple computers? Will I be able to disable a license, in order to use it for another PC? And a side-question: What is that "ProSite Portfolio Website" feature in the next tier? If It's just a regular website hosted by Adobe for portfolios, I see no reason to use it over a SquareSpace subscription that would IMO allow me more control and freedom over my site.

New machine for Adobe Photoshop: Need spec advice
Vitalius posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I'm building a computer for someone who will be using Adobe Creative Suite tools regularly (though not all the time). Photoshop & Illustrator will probably be the most used of the CS programs. The images won't be huge. I have no experience with Adobe and their system requirements, so I thought I'd ask what the most important specs are for this use case? Their current machine has an AMD A4-5600K APU & 4GB of 1333 DDR3 RAM. I'm pretty sure that's going to be horrible to work on. I know "Lots of RAM" and "preferably fast RAM", but what CPU power would make this acceptable rather than painful to deal with? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. @Slick @Whiskers I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. It's kinda planning, but ... eh. -
Hi everyone, I'm having a few issues with my sound card at the moment and I'm not too sure what's going on. Here's a bit of back story... I installed the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX sound card around 3 years ago which worked the moment I installed the drivers. Around 3 months ago I decided to reformat my computer and re-install windows just to clear a lot of unwanted junk off. As I expected my sound card was no longer working due to the drivers not being installed. I went to the Creative website, found the correct drivers for my card and installed them.. Everything was running smoothly until I got a message stating that I do not have any device installed for these drivers (I can't remember the exact message but it was something similar to that). It's almost as if windows doesn't detect the card at all.. I'm about 99% sure that the drivers I'm trying to install are the correct ones. I hold my hands up and say that I haven't gone into too much depth into finding any solution for this, other that attempting to install the correct drivers. I'm going to try installing the card into a different PCI slot and see if that gives me any luck. Other than that, I'm not really sure what to try... I appreciate any help or advice.

I have the Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Sound System and the Creative Sound Blaster Z Sound Card. I have it all setup correctly and all. 5.1 surround sound works and everything else is working correctly. However, I have a problem. When I have "5.1 Surround Sound" selected, all stereo audio (like music for example) sounds bad coming from the front-left and front-right speakers. It's sounds horribly weak, no bass, and just... Yuk. But when I select "Stereo" or "Stereo Direct", music sounds great and has all the bass and everything like it should. Is there any way to fix this? I'd rather have "5.1 Surround Sound" selected at all times instead of having to switch to "Stereo Direct" for just music or other Stereo Only programs/games.

Sound Blaster Audigy SE not detecting on Windows 7 64bit
JonathanH posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Okay so I recently found my Sound Blaster Audigy SE by Creative. I plugged it into my computer and at first I thought it was a plug-in-play. I plugged my speakers in and found that the sound card is not detected by windows 7. I checked Device Manager and found that a multimedia driver was missing. So I went to the Creative website to download the latest drivers. When I tried to download the driver it said that my card was not installed and I did not have a product from creative. (Paraphrased) So I looked online and found that many people had success by manually installing the drivers by loading in the P17.inf file from the actual drivers. But when I did finally download the driver into my computer... my speakers made a very loud constant buzzing noise and when I tried to reboot my computer I couldn't and I had to use system restore. Can anyone help me out with this frustrating problem?- 22 replies
