Does programming languages prefer less cores but higher clock speeds or lower clock speeds but more cores? So basically would a I3 or Pentium be better than a Ryzen 5 1600 and above and vice versa?

Hello, recently my APU started dying so I would like to get a replacement CPU and I need your help and recommendations for a new one. Wait...hold your horses keyboard warrior, I know what you're thinking, "this guy actually got an apu hahaha". I got a pre-built pc with an APU, not knowing that APU are not very good. Either way feel free to mock 'old me' but any help is highly appreciated. Please keep in mind Motherboard compatibility ( Socket FM2+ supports AMD FM2+/FM2 A-series APU http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4989#ov) Here are some screenshots which should help.(temperature readings are very Inaccurate) PC Overview Current APU Motherboard Graphics card Ram

So I run a Cooler Master GeminII M4 on my 860K, and I wanted to increase overclocking headroom by upgrading the fan. However, Cooler Master has no email address nor support. Anyone have any idea how big a fan the brackets can hold? The fan I wanted to put on can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Delta-TFC1212DE-Inverter-industrial-Cooling/dp/B00MGBTO6W/ref=pd_sbs_147_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8BAH7D3QRGPRASYE16NZ The fan is a 120x38MM block pushing 252 CFM. My current fan is an XtraFlow Slim 120, which is 15MM in height. It pushes 58.4 CFM, which is why I want to stick the Delta fan on there. Anyone know if it's possible?

Hey everybody. I´m new on this forum so pls dont kill me if the question has been asked before;) I currently own a xeon e5-2640. I could get a second one for free in the near future. Is it worth spending money on a dual cpu socket motherboard or should i spend the money on a single I-7 6700k(or similar). I´m a heavy gamer so that should favor the 6700k i guess. but what if i have 2 xeons. Shouldn´t they work faster bc they got more cache and cores(i know cores dont really matter for gaming). I also edit pics with light-bridge and do video rendering a lil. I definetly wanna mess around with vm too so alot of ram would also be cool. Hahah lots of thinks i wanna do i know:D so which one is gonna be better suited for me. I feel like the xeons would but just wanna get some more thoughts. I would appreciate some answeres. Thanks in advance guys and greetings from Germany. p.s.: gpu: gtx980 ti amp extreme ssd: 3,2tb fusion io Ram: 64gb ddr3 1333mhz

Hello, I've been having issues with my built computer while gaming. For some reason, when I play games for a while, my Pc freezes with a loud buzzing noise either with a blue screen or without one. This has been happening for a while, i've replaced my PSU for a high quality one and sent my motherboard for an RMA to see if that was the issue and sadly still no luck. I've re-installed windows probably about 3 times and re-installed all my drivers multiple times and don't think it's that, also updated my BIOS and reset the cmos. I decided to test the ram, I used only one of my ram sticks and it froze after a day of gameplaying, then the other one my pc froze after 5 days of gameplaying. I decided to run memtest with the sticks, one froze during the test and one had this, "[Note] Ram may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips". To also get out of the way, I don't think it's a hdd or ssd issue, I checked both with crystaldisk and ran the seagate tests on these and they both passed. I'm leaning towards the ram but i'm not to sure, this problem has been happening for a while and has just been causing headaches... all help is greatly appreciated. Here is a sample of what it sounds like/looks like. My specs: Here are my specs: Intel i5 6600 3.3ghzASUS Z170-A MotherboardCorsair DDR4 ram 2133 16gbASUS GTX 970 StrixEVGA SUPERNOVA GS gold certified 650wSandisk 240gb ssdWD caviar blue 1tbCoolermaster Hyper 212 evoand 4 case fans Note: I know for fact it's not a heat issue. My temps under load are 35-45c with my cpu, 45-68c for my gpu, and 45 for my motherboard. I don't overclock either.

Im scrapping the old family pcs today for the lols and Im wondering what I should pull for future use? Currently I have these cpus Celeron and Pentium, a 120gb 7.2k hdd and an asus heatsink fan combo. The psu in the "newer e machine is 250watts and the Dell is so low it only lists some kind of peripheral power at 80 watts. I also got 1.25gbs of ram out of both of them(which is weird that the dell had one 512 and one 256 ram cards). Now it just a matter of how to store this stuff till I use it, basically the most valuable thing to me was the hdd but I do have a funny dream of trying to build an xbox 360 level pc with the celeron and a gt 730 that was stock in a workstation I had torn down earlier. Any Cool ideas what to do with this junk, comment below

Specs: CPU: Intel core 15 6600kCOOLER: Corsair h100i v2MEMORY: 2 x 8 g. skill ripjaws xMOBO: Asus maximus 8 heroGPU: Nvidia Gtx strix 1070STORAGE: Samsung 850 evo 250g + Western digital caviar blue 1tbPSU: EVGA 650 g2CASE: NZXT Noctis 450So i started this build a while back and i realized it would not post. figured out it was a dead psu (Corsair rm750 at the time) and replaced it with the above. thought that was the end of it. wired everything up and plugged it into a monitor, and i get a message telling me that the system was in bios recovery mode and i needed to put a bios file on a usb stick, plug it in, and reset it. i did. nothing. tried again w/ the correct bios this time. still nothing. then i was told to flash the bios, and it would not finish flashing. i turned off and unplugged the usb. tried flashing it again later as an afterthought, and it actually worked. but now a whole new set of issues emerged. when i turn on the computer, i now get a cpu LED that i did not get before. somehow my usb got destroyed somewhere along the way. i also get a 00 qcode, the qcode was f9 back before the flash. i tried to clear the cmos, reseat the cpu, reseat the ram, tested the psu (it Works). all i achieved to do was to get it to restart a couple of times before stably powering on. also if i press the power button o mobo/case it will not work. i have to power off the psu itself. anyone know what the hell is going on here? ASUS said my mobo is dead, i suspect the cpu.

I have finally acquired the funds for a gtx 1070. However, I fear that my cpu (Amd a10 7850k) will completely bottleneck the card. So my question for the LTT community is what is the most affordable cpu and motherboard combo that won't bottleneck the card? (Considering there isn't much upgrade potential for the fm2+ format)

So i recently begun trying to overclock my CPU and i was looking around and i was constantly getting 100c no matter what clock i set it to. Im running a I7-4790k with the Hyper212 evo. An idea was that i running too high of a core voltage. Now 3 hours later. Iwe been downclocking my CPU and now i have it on 4GHZ and 1.185v. This is what the stock is and I have turned off the Intel speedup thingy. So it will run 4Ghz no matter what. I run the small FFA test and i get 90-92degrees instantly. The stock temps are around 50c. So i read up and the "solution" is to reapply the thermal paste. I did so and watching what is the best so i wont mess up again. Upon starting up with fresh thermal paste. Same temps and everything. The fan is set to run 100% at 70c so its not fan related eigher. I installed a Hyper212 evo on another pc i build recently for my brother and that runs a i5-6700k. That runs around 25-30c idle and on Small FFA test it runs around 55c. So there it works all fine. I usually dont ask. I really like to find out myself. But please. I need help. Update! I still have the issue. Sadly. But i have a H440 case with 3 120mm fans in the front. 1 140mm airflow fan in the back. The thermal paste is good. Im running it now on all fans at 100% (even CPU fan) and CPU boost off and at 4GHZ and voltage tuned down to 1.05v. WIth theese tunes i get around 40c and 80c at Small FFA. Its nearly the exact same as the 4GHZ at 1.2v, issnt it supposed to get cooler? I have no idea. I am so confused as of why this is happening. ANOTHER UPDATE! IWE SENT IN THE CPU AND I GOT IT IN RETURN WITH A EVERYTHING OKAY. THEY THINK 60c IN IDLE IS OKAY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO ANYMORE.

Hi guys 'With DX12 now taking hold of many of the newer upcoming titles and with the beginnings of VR, for someone looking at buying new processors would you recommend getting faster quad core CPUs like the skylake 6700k or one with more cores and slower clocks like the 6800k ? If Ashes of Singularity is a glimpse into the future then can we expect DX12 to favour high core configurations over ones with less cores but faster clocks ? Also so for someone looking to get into VR, how would that factor in ? Thanks for any input!

Hello! I need some help with my prebuilt system (Don't hate me) I don't know if my specs matter but i have an ASUS M51BC computer. I want to overclock my CPU (FX-8300) but i'm afraid that my PC is going to get too hot, or that i simply don't have a good enough PSU. Here is the full spec-list: EVGA GTX 960 4GB (Upgraded from an ASUS Radeon 7770) AMD FX-8300 8GB of DDR3 RAM in single channel. 500W Delta PSU Here is a picture of the case: https://www.google.no/search?q=Asus+m51bc&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=989&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiW3uqon-7MAhXEJSwKHRbLBygQ_AUIBigB#imgdii=SioPlQLXopHk-M%3A%3BSioPlQLXopHk-M%3A%3BW0ZH1cASqwx2jM%3A&imgrc=SioPlQLXopHk-M%3A Temps right now: (Open Hardware Monitor) Temperature #1=56°C Temperature #2=46°C Core 1-8=56,5-56,8°C I have no idea if this is enough, but can someone tell me if it's a good idea to overclock my CPU or not? Thanks

Ok so im planning on putting together a lga 775 system with a core 2 quad, not sure what core 2 quad yet tho but something like a Q6600 probably, so i need a motherboard and i know nothing about 775 boards like what chipset that allows overclocking or what to look for in general so i need some help with that. im mostly looking around on ebay right now and there are a bunch of Dell boards for example but i dont know if i could get one of those because i dont know if it will allow overclocking or if it even supports the CPU. i have a 775 board since earlier but it turns out that motherboard only allows for Pentium 4s and Celerons to be put in it and only supports DDR memmory(not that i mind that tho, i have LOADS lol) but that wont take a Q6600 for example and i want a repeat of that but after actiually spending money so what should i look for? thanks for any replies and any help

Do any of you physics people out there know the answer? I'm sort of doing a side project of figuring out a means of turning thermal energy into electricity. One of my friends brought up a good point, which is does a lot of the heat from a CPU, for example, actually get turned into radiation, or is a majority of it actually turned into conduction/convection? Just curious if any of you guys know the percentages or if only a small percentage of heat emitted (on average) is turned into radiation.

So currently I have an apu which is an a10 7800 at 3.5ghz with a vapor x r9 280x , in games like wow and Diablo which are the only two I play, I see like 30_70 in Diablo and 30_110 frames in wow, so I feel that it's dipping a lot and that there is a bottleneck or my CPU is weak so would upgrading to say an i5 4590 be a huge jump in frames also I might buy my friends i7 6700, will the frame jump be significant? Also if I have Windows and all my stuff on my hdd, if I change mobo but keep that hdd will I have to get a new copy of Windows? I hear rumors that a new mobo needs new windows but I already have it in my hdd? So I don't think I do...

So earlier on my pc just froze and after doing a reset/restart, It boot looped. Now the boot loop problem is gone but, there is no video/nothing showing up to the monitor, whether its the dedicated gpu and the on-board, it still not showing. Ive tried reconnecting almost everything, connections and re-seated rams, but still no luck. So I thought the board is dead (?) I am going to the retailer for the warranty, but before that I would just like to confirm that it isn't dead (yet?) Specs (if it helps) i5 4460 Asus h97m-e 4x2 1866mhz ram 1tb hdd r9 380 4gb seasonic g550 Thanks in advance! Cheers!

hi so currently i have an AMD Phenom x4 9750 and a Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H AM2+/AM3 Motherboard. I know that i can play some games at 1080p but I would have to turn the settings to low since my computer isnt powerful enough. my friend is going to give me a GTX 760 2gb soon for free so that would be the perfect time to decide if i should upgrade my cpu to a Phenom II X6 1055t. before i was thinking about buying a Xeon X5650 and an X58 motherboard but the downside is that the X58 boards is very expensive. ($200+ USD). So would i get similar proformace if i were to go and upgrade my cpu to a phenom ii x6 1055t. if i do upgrade the cpu on my existing rig all i need to do is buy a phenom ii x6 1055t and they are roughly $80. (plus $30 for a hyper 212 evo for overclocking) so the total cost that route would be roughly $110-$115. where as if i were to go the xeon route id have to pay 4 times that amount for a xeon rig. the reason why i want to upgrade my cpu is when i play battlefield 4 or fallout 4 i know that the phenom x4 is bottlenecking my quadro fx 3800 because the gpu would be at 15% to 30% while the cpu hovers at around 90% to 100% on low settings lol. if i do upgrade to a phenom ii x6 1055t would i gain some performance boosts when that new cpu is paired with a gtx 760 2gb. also i plan to overclock the phenom ii x6 to around 3.5ghz and if i do would that match proformance on a modern cpu like the fx 6300? thanks guys

i currently I have an i3-4160 and asrock z87m extreme 4 mobo. i want to upgrade and i don't know weather to go for the and i5 or get a newer generation i3 (perhaps even switch to amd if they are better for my gaming purposes). btw im selling my current setup so an i3-4160 the mobo and an msi gtx 960 2gb to my friend and i want to upgrade the cpu so it wont bottle neck the gtx 970 that im planing to get. i plan also to upgrade my tv into 3 1080p monitors so i want to be sure it will work fine (target fps at 60, with all the setting high to max ) thanks in advance for the help

Hi! I'm new here. Just wanna let you guys know that i want to Upgrade my PC into the newest Generation Of Intel(Skylake) I need help and suggestions on this. I'm looking to get the Intel Core i7-6700k 4ghz-4.2 along with the ASUS ROG Motherboard Maximus VIII Hero and a few DDR4. Currently my build is : Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (Service Pack 1) ECS Elite Group Deluxe H87 H3-M 1150 i5 - 4570 CPU @ 3.20 GHZ HyperX Fury 8gb 1600mhz PSU 600WATS Cougar Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr 256mb 2GB GDDR5 Samsung 850 Pro SSD 256GB PC Case: Ostrog Enermax I need thought about this since i know i'll be spending a lot of cash to upgrade my PC. Just wanna ask if it's going to be a worthy upgrade from my Current Build to Skylake? Also, i'm thinking about overclocking, wanna try it out atleast. Does my PSU need change? or is 600WATS is enough for the Skylake Build? As you see i'm just changing my CPU and Motherboard. I don't feel like changing my GPU as of the moment. Yes, i'm thinking about Watercooling my PC. Any great Watercoolers out there? Any thoughts or comments on my plan to upgrade my PC? Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you!
