I wanted to know if my CPU is bottlenecking me in games. I'm not sure if my CPU is under powered for my 1050 TI and that's why my FPS in games is extremely low or if it's something else in my system. I built my PC in January and have been using integrated graphics up until July when I got my graphics card. Does this have anything to do with it? My CPU is a I3-7100 My GPU is a GeForce GTX 1050Ti by EVGA (SUPER-CLOCKED) I doubt it but, is my card too strong for my CPU? Is my Gigabyte - GA-B250M-DS3H (MOBO) outdated or under powered for my other components? Or, is it my ram that isn't working well with rest of my parts? If you need any test or pictures of task manager or such, please type in the comments and all help truly is appreciated! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vwKgd6

Leak internal slides shows that Intel is going to use solder TIM on some of their 9th gen cpus. The 2 cpus that will get the solder TIM treatment is the Core i9 9900K and Core i7 9700K. No words on whether the Core i5 9600K will get Solder TIM or not. The 9900K will be the very first mainstream i9 CPU for the desktop and will feature 8 cores and 16 threads. Core i7, now a tier lower will not feature HT, putting it similar to a Core i5, except its main advantage, is the extra cores and larger cache. Bases clock and turbo depending on the individual cpus ranges from 3.6 to 3.7GHz and singel core turbo ranges from 4.6 to 5.0GHz. Turbo clock will be lower when more cores are being used at the same time. All of the cpus are officially supported Intel Z390 chipset, although Z370 and current ones may be supported to via a bios update. https://videocardz.com/77356/intel-core-i9-9900k-confirmed-to-be-soldered

So i'm currently using the intel pentium g4560 and want to upgrade. Yes, i know that i'll also have to change the motherboard too. I managed to find a cheap b360 board so i don't mind. My question is since i'm on a super tight budget right now, should i just buy the i3 8100 and upgrade to i5 8400 in the future? Or should i just save up and keep the g4560 until i have enough money for the i5 8400?

Hello all, new user here, so apologies if I managed to screw up the category. So I think most of the people here are familiar with LGA 1156 and how good value those xeons are. Sure enough, I picked up an asus p7h55-v for $35 and ordered one of those $20 xeons. Tested it out and everything seemed all good... until it came to actually getting to use it. First try with some generic Crucial DDR3, non ECC, failure to boot. Wouldn't even post through onboard without a cmos battery (though I managed to dig one out from somewhere). Great, Had to go out and blow $30 on a kit of Corsair vengeance ram. And now it finally works, but that was just a sample of the hell to come. Prior experience with asus motherboards all the way back to LGA 775 was good, but this newer and supposedly better LGA1156 board would ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO INSTALL WINDOWS. Tried to use my usb Windows installation kit... Getting blue screens everywhere. Tried to Preinstall windows 10 from another pc (which was older lol) and slot it in... Gave me a blinking cursor. Ok now i was getting a bit annoyed, since my ancient mobo worked far better. Well maybe it was because the bios was outdated and causing issues but NOPE it was already on the latest revision. Fine, maybe this motherboard just couldnt work with windows 10. So i proceeded to grab a windows 7 iso file and load it on another flash drive but guess what? Blinking cursor again. Now I was getting quite pissed, surely this motherboard could support windows 7 right? Funny thing is, it did boot up with some random HDD with an older install of Windows 7 (which was probably a 32 bit) on it. Guess its just my luck I have a pos motherboard which seems to be hell bent on not working with me. About to try to preinstall windows 7 on the drive Im supposed to be using with this system, so wish me luck. For anyone who is curious, its using a 2x2 kit of kingston Genesis DDR3, a 600w psu and a seagate 500 GB hdd.

BSEL mod for Intel Core 2 Quad q9650
YourNewPalAlex posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Can you do a bsel mod on a q9650 And make it run 3.66Ghz without overclocking. This is for my friend, he's planning on getting a chip, and i wanna convince him that its better to wait because if there really is a bsel mod, you chould overclock it and hopefully as ive read on the forums, you can achive up to 4.4ghz on all cores with a decent cooler. What are your thoughts? -
I decided to do some spring cleaning for my rig today, and so I took my stock intel heatsink off just to adjust it and make sure everything is working well, and now I’m trying to put my heatsink back in and the pins are just not wanting to go back into the holes. I’m installing a stock intel cooler into a Z-97 E USB 3.1 asus motherboard. I already know I need to turn the pins clockwise to make sure they aren’t locked. Any help would be appreciated.

While not a smoking gun, the barrel is definitely hot. Linus made a video on this topic, but only used a sample size of two. This uses a sample size of thousands, using the data gathered by Silliconlottery and the overclock results by reviewers. It shows that all cpus were at least Above average, and many were in the top 3% of all cpus. Take this as you will, but it seems like almost proof.

Hello, I’ve bought a laptop last year and feel like it’s underperforming. The first thing i noticed was that the gpu usage was always at 100% when playing any game. I checked how many cpu cores were enabled in the system configs and it showed 2, even though i had a quad core cpu. I checkmarked 4 and restarted my pc, the cpu usage is now an avg of 40 percent, max ive seen is 70. Yet i felt like something is wrong, so when playing a game i checked task manager and saw i only had 50% gpu usage even though my cpu usage was 45%? Isn’t the gpu supposed to go up to 99% unless the cpu bottlenecks? I’m sure the cpu isn’t bottlenecking because the the usage never goes high anymore. Does anyone have an idea why the gpu usage doesn’t go past 50%? I have to say my laptop is pretty bad but i should do better i think. Cpu : Amd A10 9600p Gpu : Amd crossfire, R7 M340 and R5 graphics. Game : Overwatch, i get under 30 fps on the lowest settings possible....

Hello knowledgeable people, As the title implies, I'm looking to upgrade my system to the new Intel chipset. I'm currently running a 6700K @4.8GHz on a Gigabyte Z170x UD3 board, and I'd like to upgrade to an 8700K. To do so, obviously, requires a new board. This current rig is my first build, and my first attempt at overclocking. I absolutely loved it, so I'd like to take it to the next level for this upgrade. I've been eyeing the ASUS Maximus X Formula, but if someone can make a compelling argument for a different board on the grounds of better OC potential, I'm all ears. Also, any added overclocking advice is always welcome. I've even considered deliding and phase change cooling in my quest for GHz's, so if you know a thing or two about either of those, let me know! (I've seen the LTT videos related to both, just so you know)

Hello everyone, I have a PC with an AMD A6-9500 that has 2 CPU cores and 6 GPU cores, It can stream to twitch while playing very non-demanding games but it can't if I play and stream Fortnite at the same time, SO, I was wondering if I get a Graphics Card, will that do most of the work related to playing the game and then will the CPU transcode/stream better, or will it not make a difference? Thanks.

Hello guys, I think I have asked this question before, but no one has an answer for me... Maybe I didn't say clear last time. Ok I'll start explaining my specs here first of all. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= specification =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= NAME: UN64V CPU: i7-4600U @ 2.9Ghz ~ 3.27Ghz (99.79 X 27~33) 2C4T GPU: intel Graphics HD4400 @ 1Ghz RAM: ddr3l 4GB x 2 @ 1600Mhz SSD: 256GB @ R: 300MB/s W: 200MB/s SYS: WIndows 10 64 bits =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Problem =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ok th Problem starts from here. I have searched a lot on the internet, and I see other bloggers says the temps should be around 70 degrees when full load... But the problem is, if it's 0% load, it's already 50~60 degrees, if like 30% usage, 60~70 degrees if on 100% load, it goes up to 92 degrees maximum. I have used this Mini PC for some light video editing (like music), play some games (such as Minecraft, Warframe, Fortnite...) and people say that I shouldn't but I still want to. Lots of people say that is normal, but I see a blog said that when he is playing LOL(Legends of League), it's above 60 degrees for him, How come he can get is so low? I have opned it up, I took the Motherboard out and I tide the CPU cooler... But I have considering should I change the thermal conpound or not... Becuase after I tide it, it goes 5 degrees down, it's really much tho... But in game the fps actually become a little bit higher, and the temp is still the same... but is it's in 0%, it's 46 degrees now... Oh ya, I also use this as an internet server(IIS) for my web application development, and also Visual studio, Andriod Stuido, etc... so what should I do?

Hello, I have an i3-3220 and gtx960 as a GPU. Now I feel like my i3 is not catching up and I would like to upgrade it but I cant go and buy a whole new motherboard ram and CPU I need to stay with Ivy Bridge CPUs If someone knows which CPU is right for me I play overwatch, the binding of Isaac, and stardew valley and I stream The binding of Isaac would like to be able to stream overwatch but even on the lowest setting I can barely stay on 60 fps and sometimes it goes to 90 and then drop to 60 which feels like it went to 20 and then back up. I have around 200$ Ty for reading {sorry for my bad grammar/ use in words}

I'm looking at building a workstation for keyshot rendering. Since keyshot uses cpu cores I'd like to go with the ASRock ep2c602-4l/d16 with two xeon e5-2689w processors. My main question is will this system work with windows 10? I've heard a few people say that they get random crashes and a some say that windows updates break their machine entirely. If anyone has some insights or suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. maybe a different motherboard?

Hi, After countless hours of researching and reading articles on how to fix this issue.. I still have it. A game called DayZ Standalone i use to beable to run fine a few weeks ago until i upgraded my gear from this: Operating System Windows 10 Pro 64-bit CPU Intel Core i3-4130 @ 3.40GHz RAM 8.00GB Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. B85M-D3H (SOCKET 0) Graphics 1028 MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Storage 119GB TOSHIBA THNSNH128GCST (SSD) 232GB Seagate ST3250820AS (SATA) Into this: Operating System Windows 10 Pro 64-bit CPU Intel Core i3-4130 @ 3.40GHz RAM 16.00GB (I made sure it was the same speed and type as the first one [DDR3 and the speed was 1600(whatever they measure that in)]) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. B85M-D3H (SOCKET 0) Graphics 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (EVGA) 31 °C Storage 119GB TOSHIBA THNSNH128GCST (SSD) 232GB Seagate ST3250820AS (SATA) 931GB Seagate ST1000DM010-2EP102 (SATA) Ever since then my system would overheat very easily and just restart, also.. My performance dropped A LOT. Before this 'upgrade' I had gotten 70-80 fps on DayZ Standalone, i would run CSGO at 130-150, and the fps would stay consistent it wouldn't just drop every 2 seconds. When i got ready to play a game on the upgraded PC i was surprised on how bad it was running (Yes i did download all the needed drivers and such). Like on CSGO i would get 20-30 fps and it dropping to 1fps every 2 seconds or so, and the same issue in DayZ Standalone, i tried other games and it did the exact same. I then switched everything out, took out the extra RAM and took out the GPU and.. it still has the same issue. Now I was checking the task manager 'Performance tab' while playing a game and it looked a little like this: The CPU and GPU would just stay like that, and keep in mind it did this with both GPUs, at this point i didn't even care about the RAM since 8Gbs is and was fine for me in the past. I then updated all my drivers (like my audio and such since my video card drivers was already updated). Same issue still.. Can someone out there please help me, I have been stuck with this issue for weeks, Thank You in Advance

So I'm looking at getting a i5-8400 but I'm a bit lost for what motherboard to get, looking between features and bang for the buck (or rather pound£) so if anyone can help me with looking through this confusing forest. Nothing too pricey, maybe around £100 - £170. Thanks to anyone who can help me out :-)

Will a Pentium G2030 be enough for a NAS?

I recently made a post about my CPU having high idle temperatures at stock speeds with stock cooler. I updated my BIOS to the latest version (7A34vA7, from 2017-09-19, I have an MSI B350 PC Mate) and temps got a little bit better. However, after looking for a while at Ryzen Master and also HWMonitor, I noticed that my CPU voltage jumps from 1.33 to 1.45 or even higher, and it usually stays like that for a decent amount seconds, and I noticed that this doesn't happen when I'm gaming (for example). What could be causing this? Because it doesn't seem to be healthy for the system. The VCORE is set to auto in the BIOS, should I set it manually even if I'm not OCing?

So I am using Asus UN64V which NUC, and it's i7-4600u @ 3.3Ghz and the most problem which I get in this cpu is OVERHEAT, so I have a question. What If you take out the motherboard and install it in a mITX case, get a extend GPU which connect to pci-e 1x 3Gen, and buy a new cooler for it which it supports BGA1168... Or any other solution for it to let it be cooler? it get 92 degree... My specs: CPU: i7-4600u @ 3.3Ghz (2 cores, 4 threads) RAM: ddr3l 1600 4GB x 2 SSD: 256GB(made in korea!?) Network: IEEE 802.1ac (???

Take some time to read through these articles: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/the-amd-athlon-200ge-surfaces-based-on-raven-ridge.html https://pcgamesn.com/amd-athlon-apu https://www.techpowerup.com/241372/mysterious-amd-athlon-200ge-surfaces-on-sandra-database Ryzen replaced FX as the high end option, with FX becoming mid-range and Athlon becoming a low-end option. As far as we can see, Sempron is gone. Think about this, if AMD refreshed their high-end segment with Ryzen, and their low-end segment with Athlon, that still leaves one segment untouched, and that would be FX. I may have discovered some evidence of an upcoming refresh, or, similar to the RX 550/560, a silent change to the FX CPU specs. Take a look at these pictures. Maybe we'll see some AM3+ motherboards with PCIe 3.0. I would love to see a refresh of the FX series, maybe even a cheaper alternative to Ryzen, but maintaining high core count.

Okay, so I'm pretty new to overclocking, so I was wondering what I need to oc a Pentium G3258. First of all will a h81 chipset be sufficient? Second what would be a sufficient cooler for it, in terms of overclocking it as high as it can go. Would a Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED work, or would i need an EVO? Any help would be appreciated :]
