I bought the 34 esport duo as it cool 5c less than the nh-d15 according to this comparison. Is that a good choice to cool a stock 3900x ? (also note that my 3900x will be bottlenecked by my 2133 mhz ram, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue according to this video) More info : I won't use it for rendering but for active work like this.

I was wondering if I should get a be quiet! Dark Rock 4 or be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 for a Ryzen 9 3900X but I have to make sure it fits in the NZXT H510 case? Do you know if the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 fits in the NZXT H510 case? Is it fine to get a be quiet! Dark Rock 4 for the Ryzen 9 3900X? I know that the be quiet! Dark Rock 4 fits in the NZXT H510 just fine. The very left image is the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. The very right image is the be quiet! Dark Rock 4.

Hi, I have a question about a cpu cooler sag. I have a be quiet! Dark Rock Slim and it seems to be sagging a bit towards the gpu. It is a medium-sized tower cooler with only two screws holding it above the standoffs so my question would be to all the big cooler owners, do you also experience it? Can it damage the cpu/socket/bend the substrate? The case isn’t transported, only sometimes gently moved so there isn’t much stress due to that. I will attach photos.

I built a few weeks ago a new desktop with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. I'd like to overclock it since I'm gonna use it mostly for software builds and I want it to be fast. I tried to OC it to 4.3GHz and it settled at around 85°C while stress-testing it. However, this happened in a chilly day. Today it's 30°C outside and I tested it again, I had to stop the test very quickly because it was going to rise above 90°C (I lowered it for now). My question is, if I want to go back towards the higher frequencies, should I get a better cooler or get better thermal paste (or both)? Currently I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (which I bought before discovering the cooler tier list in this forum), and I'm still in time to return it to Amazon. I was considering to replace it with a Corsair Hydro H100X AIO since it's not too expensive, seems quiet enough and I read somewhere that "240mm AIO coolers are good for almost any set up". Also it's listed as "tier 1" in the previously mentioned list. My biggest worry is that I noticed that, while the fan takes 2-3 seconds to get to full speed, the CPU takes very little to reach high temperatures, and once the fan is going it still tends to go higher (temp graph attached, each bar is 2 seconds, peak 90°C). I'm worried that this may cause trouble in CPU usage spikes, when the temp rises fast and the fan doesn't get the chance to go full-speed promptly enough. I used the Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste, I'm also worried it might not be transferring the heat quickly enough. AIO and air cooling both work for me, and I'm not too bothered if the cooling unit is slightly noisy when under load, but I wouldn't like to spend more than ~100€ on the cooler unless it's really needed. I don't really need custom GPU cooling since it's not a priority for me.

How big of an improment in temps will I get from switching from the Be Quiet Pure Rock BK009 to the Noctua NH-D15? The cpu i'm using is i7-10700k.

Hey guys, I'm using a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite mobo and I'm wondering if the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 is able to fit well in my set up. I'm running on an inverted case as you can see in the pic. So my concern is actually the large heatsink and my RAM that I circled. Will the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 be able to fit onto my mobo with no problem?

Will this air cooler fit with a quad channel ram? I'm planning to upgrade my dual channel memory to quad (saves me more) and also planning to get Deepcool Gammaxx 400 white as an upgrade to my cpu cooler. Mobo: MSI B150M Mortar

I'm building the Silverstone SG12 to be used as a coding workstation/casual gaming rig (I needed something I could bring home on a plane once Covidtimes that was expandable to 128 Gb of RAM). I'll be using either an i5-9600K or i7-9700K (mostly single threaded for computationally intensive scripting) and a GTX 1060 GPU. The case suggests that I use a low-profile L/C cooler that vents into the PSU. Noctua says I could use moderate O.C., but I imagine that's in a case with better airflow. I wondered if it would be possible to add an AIO to cool the CPU instead and made two mock-ups using the Corsair Hydro Series H80i. I did my best to make everything close to scale (except for the airflow diagrams, which are approximate). Option 1: Adding the AIO rad vertically where the current fan is located (would need to add attachments since the originals would be in the removed HDD/SDD drive bays) Option 2: Drill a hole in the bottom and mount the AIO rad horizontally. Questions Do you think either of them would work? If so, which would be better for airflow? Is the improvement in the one that requires cutting enough to justify the cost to rent the circular saw and drill from Home Depot? Would they be better than the suggested scheme of venting into the PSU? I plan on using Coolermaster Fan Brackets to add the all the fans by securing them to the base and zip-tie-ing where possible. Is that reasonable? Is there any issue to adding metal below the motherboard? (I assume not since the case is aluminum, but maybe the paint is non-conductive?) P.S. The MoBo graphic is a bit off--the GPU won't actually be going across the RAM. Lol. P.P.S. Sorry for my bad Photoshopping. Haha. And also sorry if the images are huge...I'm not sure how to fix that on here.

Hello everyone, first of all, English is not my mother tongue so i hope you understand what i say. So, i was thinking of buying a new CPU Cooler for my I5-750, because the temps with the stock cooler is a joke, 90c when playing CSGO at low settings..... I wanted to buy the Hyper 212 Evo but then the store that i wanted to buy doesn't have it and it had a different CPU Cooler that's called (as the title says) Alpenföhn CPU Cooler SELLA, at 27 euros, looks quite good, so i thought of buying that cuz for some reason it doesn't show any other air coolers, only shows this cooler and then water cooling. Back then it showed the Hyper 212 Evo on that same store but now not, i could probably order it but I'll see. You may say buy the 212 Evo on a different store, ofc i could do that but because on that store we will buy an air conditioner, i thought of persuading my parents to buying me the cooler as well. So what do you guys think? Should i buy the Alpenföhn CPU Cooler SELLA or order the 212 Evo on that store? In performance wise and money value, Alpenföhn or 212 Evo? Also the Alpenföhn is 27 euros and i think the 212 Evo is around 45 euros. Thank you

I'm hoping someone can answer a newbie question for me. I'm planning to do dual pc streaming setup, and I've decided on a Ryzen 7 3700x for my streaming pc. My question is, for a dedicated streaming pc, will the stock cpu cooler be sufficient or should I go with a beefier aftermarket cooler? Still new to all of this, so I get lost pretty easily on what is necessity and what is overkill.

I'm planning to buy an adequate cooler I don't know if a 120mm AIO is good enough or just stick to air cooler. Hyper 212 is currently out of stock in here and the gammaxx 400 is only at $25 while the CM 120 lite aio is around at $45. My Case can only support 120 rad. CPU: I7-4770K @ 3.5 Ghz Temps Idle - 48c avg. Gaming (Bfv) - 71c avg. If you have a suggestion let me know Sorry for bad english

Hi there, I was originally going to get the u12s given Noctua's praise for quality and performance but then I noticed the 34 Duo and it's gotten some great reviews given that I've seen some comparison charts on it with a 9900k at different clock speeds and it's only 1-2 degrees hotter than the NH-D15. I haven't found any comparisons between the 34 Duo and the u12s though so I'm here hoping someone can give me the comparison I'm looking for. Also, which one would you recommend I go with? I'm hoping to have the cooler last me through at least another CPU upgrade eventually. I currently have a 3600 but in the future I'd hope to upgrade to something more high-end. Thank you!

I recently cracked out my 3 years old Wraith Spire that came with my 1600. I am planning to use it on a computer I'm about to build. I've never used it so it still had the pre-applied thermal compound on it, though the compound did turned yellow. I wiped it off with some ethanol, but found blemishes on the copper contact. The surface still feels very smooth. My first guess is that the thermal compound corroded the copper. Will this affect its cooling ability much?

As it says in the title the bottom fan of my dark rock tf doesn’t spin. I was wondering why this may be I just installed it. PC SPECS - i5-8400 (soon to be i7-9700k) - EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3gb (soon to be GeForce RTX 2070 super) - 2x8gb 2666mhz ddr4 ram - ASRock B360M Xtreme (you won’t be able to find this motherboard anywhere but i have read that apparently it is similar or the exact same as the ASRock B360M Pro4) - Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 230V 600W 80+ PSU (will be upgrading to a 650W 80+ Titanium PSU) also should I upgrade my motherboard? (I have done a bios update to my B360M motherboard so it is compatible with the i7-9700k)

Booting a PC without a CPU Cooler
Michael McChesney posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Is it OK to boot a PC without attaching a CPU Cooler while trying to troubleshoot? I recently attempted my 2nd PC build. If I ever get it working right it will be a HTPC for my bedroom. After assembling it, I couldn't get it to post. It has a Gigabyte B450 DS3H WiFi Micro ATX motherboard and a Ryzen 3200G CPU. My troubleshooting was hampered because I had no other AMD CPUs or motherboards to use to isolate the problem component. That particular B450 mobo is only $90 and includes both integrated WiFi and an m.2 slot. I think I might like to build with it again, so I bought a 2nd one as well as an Athlon 3000G. My plan is to see if the Athlon CPU will work with the original board and whether the Ryzen will work with the new one and hopefully that will let me see if one of them is the problem. But I had a great deal of difficulty separating the cooler from the Ryzen CPU as the thermal compound seemed to like acting like an adhesive. What I would like to do is to install the CPUs and see if the system will post before I install the coolers. If they work, I will go ahead and install the coolers. If not I will try something else. I figure I should plug the cooler into the CPU fan header to keep the bios happy. But is there any danger in booting the system with a bare IHS? I figure to run the system like that for less than 5 minutes- 22 replies
