So my computer is in a rough state right now and has problems with cooling. I want to put my case fans below my gpu(the gpu's fan is broken and doesn't spin at all) so it doesn't thermal throttle. In doing so, I had the idea of removing the side panel so the rest of the system gets "passive" cooling. So my question is, will my computer need front and back fans if the side panel is off or will it be relatively fine. (btw my cpu is fine and doesn't have any problems)

I have an stock rear fan set as exhaust and deepcool gamerstorm 240 mm aio whose fans are set as intake. How should I change this to get better thermals. I plan to buy 3 additional fans and fix it in the front as intake and change the aio as exhaust.

High CPU temps while gaming, not during load tests (p95)
Wassap124 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Heya guys! Feeling a bit lost here. While gaming with friends (Rainbow 6 Siege if that matters), I touched my computer case and noticed it's fairly hot. After using Open Hardware Monitor, I'd found that my CPU temps PEAK at 100c (no bueno). to isolate - i ran p95 (for 24hours, blend, on all cores) - and it seems that the CPU peaks at around 70c there, so it seems like it can cool itself well enough. Granted - after monitoring and plotting the temps during gaming - i see that the temps sit around 90-ish degrees C most of the time Graphs are provided Below. Blue graph is while running p95, other one is while gaming - i selected only 1 core to simplify it but i made sure this was the hottest one. What could be the cause of this? Could this be residual heat from my GPU? it peaks at 80C Maybe should I get more outtake fans maybe to improve the airflow through the unit? right now I have 1 outtake, 3 intake cpu is cooled with AIO Specs: i7-9700k 3070Ti 32GB Ram Asus TUF Z390-PLUS GAMING- 20 replies

I have 3 spare fan slots in my PC, I have already decided I want to put fans in them. I need 1 120mm and 2 140mm fans. Unifans look good, but I want to know if you can use the extension cable that allows you to connect 120s over a distance without actual fans with the 140s, as it would be easier. If that’s not possible, what should I get? Ideally I want RGB, but my overall budget is 50 quid, 60 MAX. Thanks!

I have a Acer Nitro 5 (an515-54) laptop with an i5-9300h, and I've been recently trying out some undervolting settings. I've done undervolting before in Intel XTU and Throttlestop, and it worked back then: I got lower cpu temps, I got crashes while trying to find the sweet spot of the voltage offset. None of that seems to be happening anymore. I've just tried monitoring how my cpu clocks change during the aida64 stress test depending on the undervolting settings, and there didn't seem to be any noticeable difference. There are also no crashes regardless of how low i set the core offset. Can it be possibly caused by switching to windows 11? I have also gotten an external monitor pretty recently, so maybe it has something to do with that. I've also included my throttlestop settings in case any of them are wrong.

I have an NZXT prebuilt that came with an i5-10400f cpu and an rtx2060 gpu. Me not being an extremely savvy tech guy, using the NZXTcam that the pc came with I noticed my mhz was bouncing between 3900mhz and 4000mhz for the cpu, and gpu at 1300mhz. I wasn't sure if the cpu at max frequency was normal or if it was good for it. Its always at that frequency even when not gaming. I could be trippin, but Ive had no issues at all with temps or performance even on ultimate settings. Cpu reaches 45-60C, and gpu never past 75C when gaming. I do have x3 120mm deepcool fans and x2 140mm deepcool fans. Then again Im not sure on the accuracy of NZXTcam. The max turbo frequency is 4.30ghz and base is 2.9ghz for my cpu. Looking it up on google it does say it has "Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Frequency‡". Could this be why my cpu is always at 4000mhz? and is this technically okay for it? would it be necessary to make it so that it only goes that high when it needs? Thanks for any responses!

Hi, I am currently experiencing some high GPU temperatures in game, maximum temperature reaching around 88C and I would love to reduce that. I've recently applied fresh thermal paste to both the CPU and GPU to ensure the best possible outcome here. Currently, I'm running a 240 AIO intake on the front of the case and only a single 120mm exhaust fan at the rear. I invested in some Noctua case fans as you can see in the parts list below and before installing I would like to get your opinion on whether or not to switch the 240 AIO intake on the front, to a 240 exhaust on top. No doubt the 3 extra fans will help a lot, so they'll just go where the AIO isin't. Reason being, my CPU doesn't get challenged a lot in games and rarely goes above 65C, e.g. it has a lot of temperature headroom. Any quick tips before I undertake my endeavor, leave a comment below Note: I do have, and want, and need an overclock on my GPU to reach 144 FPS on Warzone 2, so this is why I'm exploring this option. Budget (including currency): $2,300 give or take Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CoD MW2, heavily modded Ark, Halo, and Elder Scrolls Online mainly, have several other games but those are the main ones Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/demonicvampiregirl/saved/fcCyFT this is the current WIP for the build I am planning. I have a few questions on specific parts of the build but otherwise, it is done. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/demonicvampiregirl/saved/CxPCzy this is my PC I am currently using. I am not keeping anything from it besides the speakers, mouse, keyboard, monitors and headset listed. I'm going to give it to a family member that needs a better PC. Do note with that PC that the cooler is a place holder, the one mine has comes from the company it was built from, that is the closest I can find as an example. I'm hoping to buy within the next month or two hopefully. 2560 x 1440 resolution is the aim. As for refresh rate, whatever works for whatever game. I try to match the game monitor I have but if I can't, I just lower it as needed. My main questions are about the CPU, cooler/cooling in general, and OS. I'm not looking to change anything else on the build and the RAM being bumped from 32 to 64 is all depending on the other changes, so no need to worry about any other parts of the build. I've had many people tell me I don't need that much storage but between 3 CoD games being nearly 300-400GB combined with Ark being nearly 500GB without mods, I'm going to want extra storage for other games as well. So I'm going to stick with 4TB+ on storage. Anyway, I'm wanting to potentially stream from this PC when I get my internet upgraded, my problem is should I get the i5-13600KF or the i7-13700KF? As this will be done with one PC rather than two, I am a bit concerned on it impacting my performance. I know one is roughly 100 cheaper than the other but it will still fit within budget if I change it to the i7. The other questions I had about these cores was how hot will they get if I am gaming and streaming from the same one? My room is on the hotter end of the house and I do try to keep it under 75F if at all possible, humidity around 45 or below. I also remember seeing that getting a Thermal Grizzly contact frame will help, is this still recommended for those cores? As for the cooling and cooling in general, I have been looking at the Noctua NH-D12, Phanteks Glacier One 360MPH (if they come out with a 420 version, I'll consider it as well), and a Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 A-RGB coolers. I've thought multiple times about going all air cooling this round, but that all depends on how hot I can expect the core to get with streaming. I do recall someone mentioning on reddit that they had found out that their MSI board was oversupplying their CPU with 100 watts and when he changed that, it dropped the temps down and was no longer thermal throttling on cinebench. I know that when I am gaming and/or streaming, I should not expect to see anything close to what cinebench displays as that is meant to test your PCs. I'm just honestly curious on if air cooling is an option or if I should just stick with AIO cooling. I also intend to set the PC over close to the AC, mainly so the heat no longer vents directly onto my legs as with where my current PC is. It will be about 2-3 feet from it at that point. The other issue I had was with the OS, I saw where Windows 10 was discontinued and I do not want an OEM version of the system. So that leaves me with Windows 11, I've been hearing multiple things about how it doesn't result in performance loss on a clean install, then I keep seeing that it does affect performance and something with the drivers either way. I'm so confused on this part anymore. What do I need to watch out for if I cannot find a Windows 10 copy and need to use Windows 11? Sorry if this got long, I'm trying to figure out things and I've got a lot of questions. I always try to give as much information as well. I'll probably have more after, I'm always looking into things when it comes to hardware.

For a couple of months, my PC's Cpu has always been running on suspiciously high idle temps of around 75C I have cleaned all the dust in my pc changed the thermal paste and scanned for viruses but nothing worked. This also shows in video games as it hits 89-90C on around 70% Load. I don't have anything overclocked so it isn't that. My Motherboard is a Rog Strix X570-E Gaming My cooling is Corsair Platinum SE 240mm Aio and my thermal paste is Artic-MX4

Hello. I need an advice: I want to buy a 5700x to upgrade my pc, and since this cpu hasn't any cpu stock cooler, i'm thinking to what to get in the range of 40-60 euro. I have an itek origin, and a 3070 FE. The only fans that i have now are the 2 on the front, but they seem to spin and light, but they are not moving air, or at least not enough air to notice it. I'm thinking of 2 things: 1) i can buy an AIO 240mm and put it on the top of the case intake and add a rear fan to exaust, or buy a pack of 5 artic p12 and use an air cooler instead. I don't know if the front fans are bad or it's just poor ventilation, since the front panel is not mesh and the only "intake" is from the bottom of the case. I also need to consider the hot air coming from the 3070, since it has the new fan design of nvidia. What do you think? I attach the image of the case and the bottom of the front panel. Thank you.

Looking to upgrade to an i9-13900K & 4080/4090 but concerned about cooling if I do that. It's about 355mm to the radiator so I'd need a GPU under 345-350mm for it to fit. Most 4080/4090 options I've found would be close to the radiator. Can I just slap the parts in as is and not be concerned or do I need to move things around and/or add more fans? What layout would you suggest if so? Ambient temp in this room is hotter than the rest of the house sadly using sitting at 75f or so in the summer by the way. Thanks in advance!

Hello peeps, I've had my pc for a couple months now and it was running fine with no problems, but now randomly one of my case fans starts making out noise, I tried to clean it and check for loose screws on the mount to no avail, what could be causing an issue like this, note that the 3 front fans of the case are 1 piece ( a radiator? not too familiar with pc terms)but only the bottom one is the one making noise. Thanks

I've recently changed my graphic card blower cooling system with the Morpheus 8057 cooling system (I have a 2070 super). After a couple of days I start to hear this sound only while playing videogames, only when the GPU is computing and it doesn't come from the fans (I have tested all of them). I have never heard it in real life, but is it coil whine? Or maybe something else? The temps are looking good, they are under 50 degrees celsius for the core, not really sure for the rams but I think they are fine too. From the phone mic is not easy to hear over the air blowing from the fans, to hear it you must rise the volume, but it is fairly noticible in real life VID_20230217_125106.mp4

Hello, so I just though about, what if I try to somehow add another fan to the end side of my AK620 CPU cooler, so there is another pull fan. Has anyone tried this before, does it increase any performance and how did you go about doing it? Zip ties or something? For this to work I guess I would have to use 1 to 3 pin extender on the CPU fan pin socket, is this safe?

So i upgraded my r5 5600x to a 7 5800x3d today. My cooler is the MSI 360r liquid cooler. I get weird temps like under load HWInof64 and the display on my cooler show up to 90°C. In furmark CPU burner it goes up to 90°C stays there and doesnt go up higher my CPU doesnt throttle. Runs all core 4,4GHz. I redid my thermalpaste and that didnt do anything. Is this normal for my CPU?

cooling Heatsink Sizes for GDDR5 Memory & VRAM on Titan X Maxwell
Timotheus865 posted a topic in Cooling
I recently picked up a NVIDIA Titan X (Maxwell) for $50 on eBay, which did not come with the stock cooling shroud or fan. As a learning exercise, I figured I'd try to put together my own cooling solution, and I am heavily considering a Kraken G12 with a 120mm AIO (though the Raijintek Morpheus II is another interesting option). My question is what size of heatsinks should I use to help cool the VRAM & Memory chips? Since I'm not worried about going back to stock, I'd also like to hear about suggestions for thermal adhesives/ cement. -
Looking for suggestions for a case with good airflow
MallCopGamer43 posted a topic in Cases and Mods
Hello, everyone! I'm gonna be building my next upgrade and was looking for suggestions on a pc case that has good airflow. The main parts going into the pc that would be producing the most heat are an Intel Core i7-12700k and an RTX 3060. I'm not really looking for the best looking case, just need something with good airflow since I'm saving up to move out in a few months. I'm planning on getting a 360 rad AIO for the cpu and leaving the gpu mounted horizontally. Since I'm going I'm going for more performance over looks I'll also take fan suggestions, if you would like to suggest any. -
So MY notebook is getting old and hot too so i was thinking to replace thermal paste ( idle temp 50-55 'c ) I was just curious do i need to use ONLY 99% PROPYL Alcohol to wipe off the old thermal paste OR 70% Would do the job without any complications ? Also is cotton swab good to wipe ?
