Just wondering if I can get away with distilled water or if I will need a specific coolant For context, it’s a sff build,(alphacool eisbear and alphacool nexxxos st20 hpe, which should be a full copper rad and the eisbear is a copper cold plate) will I be ok with distilled water and will I need biocide or can I go without, if distilled water won’t work what coolant can y’all recommend.

coolant Can you mix 2 colors in a custom loop?
cmay25009 posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
I want to have 2 colors in a custom loop that don't mix with each other. Like a base of white and an accent of blue. The only thing is they would need to be two different compounds but I have no idea what 2 would get the results I want. -
Good day I bought an old PC from a friend with an I7 4790k and the Corsair H100i AIO was not performing well at all and the CPU temps were running 80 degrees Celsius upwards when idling (it is about 7 years old) and thus I decided to drain it. Even my old stock Intel cooler runs the CPU at 30 degrees at idle and about 80 when playing CS:GO. My question now is can I use only distilled water with NO ADDITIVES OF ANY SORT as a replacement for the coolant? I can't really afford coolant as it is extremely expensive in South Africa and any biocides are basically non existent here. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

So, I installed my first loop. It is a GPU ONLY loop right now and I am starting to think I may not have enough rad space but I am not sure so I figured I would ask you guys. For reference: Gpu: asus strix 3080ti in a hydro x gpu block Xd3 pump on balanced. 1 30mm thick 360 rad. 3 slim fans pushing on back and 3 traditional fans pulling on the front. All set to the same fan curve topping out at 1,500 rpm max. Tubing is pmma I run two monitors one 4k one 1440p. case is a regular O11 Dynamic. After switching to water cooling the GPU temps went from maxing at 80c on GOTG (4k ultra, raytracing very high, Dlss off) to maxing out at 65c with the same settings. The coolant temp, however hit a max of 45/46c after running it for a while. Delta between coolant and ambient temp was about 20c. I thought this was good at first seeing as how my pump/tubes are rated for 60c but from reading around people have maxes in the 30's. I also worry about future games with higher demand. So before investing in a 120mm rad (all my case has room to add) are my coolant temps anything to be concerned about? Should I pull the trigger and buy it? Thank you for taking the time to read and for any feedback.

So I bought a liter of pre-mixed Hydro X coolant, and I have about 1 liter of distilled water and 250ml of EKWB Concentrate. Is it okay to mix these? We don't have many stores here in Norway who sells custom cooling and such, so I just bought what was available.

I want to see what green coolant (like car coolant) looks like when the waterblocks and fans are all set to a red color theme, to see if I like it or not. About to buy coolant for my loop, and I'm playing with ideas. Thanks in advance!

I just installed EK AIO Basic 240 in the NR200p & I'm wondering what to do once the 5year warranty ends on it. 5 years is a long time & I'll probably replace it in year 6 or sooner if there's an issue with EK aio. The general accepted knowledge of AIO is summed up in this phrase: "When it breaks, buy a new one." Yeah, aio are not the same as custom liquid builds too. If I can replace the coolant & tubes to extend the life of the AIO, then I'll do it. I'm aware of all Do's & Don'ts of AIOs Provide below are the links to EK AIO Basic site & Gamers Nexus videos on it. https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-aio-basic-240 Gamers Nexus: EK AIO Tear Down EK AIO review

I am building my first cooling system (in my first computer build) and have a question about choosing coolant and dye manufacturers. If you go to the different companies' web sites, they all tell you to use their own additives to ensure compatibility with their hardware. The reasons given talk about stripping color from fittings, congestion in water blocks, staining of tubing, etc. My system will have EKWB radiators, Bitspower fittings, Monsoon reservoirs, Bitspower CPU and GPU blocks, a Lowara D5 pump, and 14mm rigid tubing. As you can see, it is going to be difficult to dedicate myself to ONE company's additives. I want to make 'gold' color, so Bitspower dyes are out as they do not seem to offer yellow. I was thinking of going with EKWB as they have a good kit and the best ratings. Any thoughts?!?

Gday gents, Long story very short; I have a bunch of watercooling parts purchased almost 2 years ago which I've never gotten around to installing, mainly because the radiator is so large that it had to be mounted on top of my case, which meant drilling holes in the rear to route the pipes. Recently I dusted off the box of parts and noticed the chrome fittings are a bit rusty/oxidized. The radiator itself, while previously cleaned out, might also be the same as it's just been sitting there atop my tower. With this in mind, is it advisable to build the loop anyway and run it with automotive coolant since they have anti-rust/corrosion inhibiting properties and are designed to run under much "dirtier" conditions? I have quite a bit of leftover MB Blue concentrated coolant. I know it's been asked before (brief goog search) but in this case it would be in the context of minimizing the effects of slightly corroded or oxidized parts due to exposure to air. Climate here is hot and humid which I don't imagine is ideal either.

Well hello there! It's that time again. the time to change out the old coolant in my watercooled rig for some fresh one. right now i got it filled up with demi-water with added biocide to manage the PH. this way i won;t have growth, and the demiwater won't degrade my waterblocks. as good as a solution this has proven to be over time, i feel like this coolant might actually be better? it's the same coolant i use for the machines i work with as service engineer for welding machines/robotics. the label reads: -antifreeze till -30 celcius -prevents corrosion -good lubrication characteristics (so basically good for the pump!) -protects pump and tank against lime (wtf is lime anyway? i bet they don't mean the fruit) -counters against germ foundation these are all just very good things for a coolant to have. so should i top up my (quite expensive) waterloop with this stuff? or should i go with the tried and true demiwater/biocide setup again?

Hello there, it's my first post here so please don't be judge me if I'm doing it wrong (And please don't kill me on grammar - english is not my native language). I've recently build my first ever custom waterloop pc. I've not spare in parts so I've orded everything directly from EK in Slovenia. The build was all fun and stuff but now after like 4.5 weeks my liquid looses it's color. I've read about the color fading but i haven't seen anything about it fading after 4 weeks. I've used the EK-CryoFuel Solid Cloud White (Conc. 250mL) and mixed it with destilled water as described on the label. My question now is: do I get any temperature or flow problem with the liquid losing its color? I've got no flowsensor and everything looks fine temperature wise but the color pigments have to go somewhere and I'm kinda afraid that become like plug and kill my loop. I've given my system a good shake like a bottle and turned the pump up too 100% for a day now and in my opinion it made it even worse. I'm thankfull for everyadvise you can give me. P.S.: The spare mixed liquid I've got is sitting next to the tower and is still perfectly white.

Hey guys At the moment I am running two EKWB PE 360 radiators (The 40mm thick variant). I live in South Africa so getting your hands on liquid for your loop is a bit of a challenge so I'm thinking of doing a group import of some EKWB liquid with a couple of other friends to bring down costs. Just one very important question and I can't really find any info on this, just to make sure I order the correct amount of liquid can anybody advise me on how much liquid will I require for my two 360mmx40mm radiators and a 140ml Reservoir with a CPU and full cover GPU block. It comes in 1000ml bottles so will one bottle be enough?

I bought a used Corsair h100i and I want to replace the coolant so I bought a gallon of distilled water but I heard that most AIO coolers have copper on the block and aluminum in the radiator. Would I need to add an anti corrosive to the distilled water or would it be fine to just replace with distilled water alone?

I´ve heard of the PrimoChill True Infused (which I like), but it also seems to clog up the system. There are some similar-looking coolants from PrimoChill (f.e. PrimoChill Ice Clear), are they any better? I´m planning to use Thermaltakes RGB Fittings and I´m looking for a coolant which is easy to maintain and absorbs the light of those fittings well (transparent or white).

I want to start water cooling and kinda afraid of using Mayhems pastel as I've heard it gunks up loops and has discoloration problems, so my best bet would probably be colored tubing and good old distilled water. I prefer acrylic over PETG tubing so what tubes should I get? Tubing Size:12 ID/16 OD

I have an idea for a ltt video. They should fill a custom loop with a custom coolant that us just a 50 50 mixture of biocide and anti corrosive. If it cools the cpu enough to not thermal throttle they should leave the loop running 24/7 for like a year and see if it corrodes or grows bacteria. Typed on phone sry for typos

What is everyone's preferences when it comes to liquid cooling coolants. Should i just get distilled water? Should i get this stuff? red blood stuff I like the red blood stuff but not sure if its any good.

Filled my first loop with distilled plus the Liquid Utopia mix that came with the tubing (primochill advanced lrt). The mix makes one gallon so I have a ton left over in a plastic water jug. Same with the SysPrep. Any risk of leaching from the plastic container over time? Will this stuff still be good when it's time to flush/refill my loop?

I am going to build in the corsair 1000d, i am going to have 2 x ek xres 140 (will change both to 250mm probably) pump res combos, 2 x480 either 40mm or 60mm, 1x420mm 45mm, 1x280 40mm. Only 1 gpu and 1 cpu and I'm going to cool the maximus x formula. Probably quite a lot of tubing. How many litres would i need? Thanks

Hello I thought about replacing my coolant with white coolant and light everything with rgb to get color changing coolant. There are a few people out there who did that but they used "wall paint white" . I prefere the transparent ones, that look like water with color. Is there any mixture i could use, to get "rgb coolant" that still looks transparent? I thought about mixing white with colorless coolant but i dont know if that has the effect i would like to have. ( just colorless coolant with rgb doesnt look that good) Do you have any suggestions?

Hey I'm planning to do a SFF aluminum build and am wondering what opaque white coolants would be able to work with aluminum parts and not speed or create corrosion and not clog the system. Thanks.

So I am about to make some changes to my loop again. Since I have depleted my current supply of coolant, I am going to consider moving to something new. So that being said, what is your favorite coolant? How long have you used it? Have you had any issues clogged blocks? I am not concerned about staining as I generally replace my tubing every year or two anyways (it is cheap enough). In the future when I go back with hard-tubing again then I might mater more, but at this point I am looking for suggestions and will probably play with a few of the suggestions given. So fire away. What works best for you, what do you like and dislike about it?

I'm un-ironically attempting a "full room watercooling"-esque type thing like Linus did in the good old days. My room gets unbelievably hot, even in the winter with the window open all the way, and obviously worse in the summer. Could get an expensive AC but that will just ramp the power bill, so I think this may be a good option. I have 2 PC's with multiple high power graphics cards and high end CPU's. I plan on keeping the loops separate for each build but not like a two separate loops for GPU and CPU PC (preferably), each build would be using 2 480mm radiators mounted on the wall outside. I have two worries: 1) If the power goes out will the water in the radiators freeze in the winter? 2) With an extra 5-10 feet of tubing / radiators (basically extra travel) will 2 regular PC pumps (per PC) like the Swiftech MCP655 suffice? A quick search of anti-freeze as a coolant brings up some confusing results, some say it's to viscus, others saying you need to dilute it, wont it separate? Some people talking about corrosion, bottom line it didn't seem like it was the most safe thing to do.
