First off let me say that I do not agree with everything Microsoft does with the Xbox brand by any means. A few things I despise are: The Kinect shenanigans they had to learn the hard way about (thought it was cool, but they focused too much on it and requiring it was total nonsense) The attempt to remove used games (thank God they pulled back on this one) Overly focusing on digital game purchases MICROTRANSACTIONS (its not just Microsoft, but they're guilty of it too) Charging for Xbox Live (I already pay for the internet, why do I need to pay you for permission to use my internet) I could go on and on, so please understand I'm not some fangirl, they irritate me a lot, but I think the AA battery decision with their controllers was the right decision and here's why: Replacing built in rechargeable batteries is a much bigger hassle than replacing some AA batteries (PS5 controller battery replacement video), and all batteries stop holding charges at some point and become fire hazards, I don't want to have to tear apart my controller just to replace its battery. Rechargeable built in batteries can be easily replaceable if companies designed them right (xbox rechargeable battery) and thats great, but these batteries are often proprietary to the manufacturer, meaning in the long run the possibility of demand becoming so low its no longer profitable to make replacements could create an issue for future collectors of these consoles. The AA standard itself could become obsolete, but it has been here much longer and runs a much lower risk of this occurring for the foreseeable future. I don't want to have to plug in my wireless controller or own two (spending an extra $50.00 or more) so I can swap them out when the batteries die. AA replacement is quick and easy. If the batteries go bad, it is much easier for me to remove and dispose of them on the current Xbox controller than any of its competitors (this might not count as a full reason on its own as it kind of touches on reason 1) For me the perfect solution has been Energizer's rechargeable AA batteries which aren't much more expensive than traditional AA batteries, will save you money in the long run with how long they last and how many recharges you can get out of them and you maintain the convenience and relative future proofing (AA could become obsolete at some point but I don't see it coming anytime soon) without having the waste or annoyance of traditional AA batteries in needing to always purchase replacements. I understand not all will agree and thats cool. Though I think in a perfect world new controllers and consoles would come with rechargeable AA batteries and their charging units. Reduction in waste, ease of use and that relative future proofing while maintaining much of what is loved by built in rechargeable batteries we see elsewhere. Especially considering you can charge these Energizer batteries with them still in the controller via a USB C cable. Also no disrespect to the Playstation controller, not my cup of tea as I grew up on the Xbox controller, but Sony makes a mean good controller.

Sorry if this is too specific, I have been unable to play games on my Windows PC at home due to health issues ('prolly cause I am a keyboard and mouse jockey all day'...but that is an aside) for about three years. Out of frustration around Christmas this year (2023) I started looking at buying a controller to game on my PC with. Having never owned a PlayStation or an Xbox I will be the first to admit my starting point as unknowledgeable as you could get! Diving in the deep end I swam well past the smushy Logitech-type devices and ended up purchasing a GuliKit, no drifting joystick, KingKong 2 Pro controller. So far in this steep learning curve, I have given myself for Christmas, the controller 'life' experience has been a little muted. The GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro controller is recognised as an Xbox controller by my PC, however, the action keys Y, X, A and B did not correspond correctly with the gameplay experience. Re-reading the 'enjoy gaming easier' GuliKit manual I found out it is possible to change this easily, whew! What I have come here to ask those who know better than I do is whether there is a way to map the key actions, because, I have now noticed that unlike my gamepad some key actions are duplicated. I am not even sure if this is something that other controllers (like an Xbox controller) have issues with or if it is a GuliKit thing. Any expert can chime in, as I said I know nothing, all comments, are welcome (from other time zones too!). Cheers, Steve.

Hey there! I am looking to spend 400-500$ upgrading to a new case, RGB fans, and maybe a new PSU. I am looking at either the corsair 5000X RGB/airflow rgb (what do yall recommend). I am going to get the H150i elite capellix xt aio, and 4 sp120 rgb elite/ll120/ar120 fans. I want to be able to control each one with icue. what type of fan controllers/hubs will I need to buy and also how would they connect? This will be my first PC build so I need some help. Thanks!

I want to know if a Xbox controller will play nice with Steam and Epic games launcher. Also, if I can play PC ports of PlayStation games such as Spider Man miles morales using the XBOX Controller? Or if I need to buy a DualSense? (sorry to the pro gamers who don’t recommend using controllers. I have been a console gamer earlier and prefer using a controller for PC gaming whenever possible)

Made an account to post this here because I thought it was fitting. So my Ps5 controller was fully charged but wouldn't turn on. Tried the reset button and plugging it in my pc(only half the buttons would work). Out of options I threw it kind of hard on to the floor and now it works fine. So dropping things doesn't always break things it could also fix them lol

I don't play any racing games. Gradual triggers are entirely useless to me. But I would still like to get a high quality controller. Progressive triggers are even harmful for my use case, because they feel really awkward to use vs a clickier button when you're trying to play an RPG where R2 is just, say, triggering between minimap modes. Also I have pretty intense wrist pain issues, and the additional force that I have to use on progressive triggers can actually hurt a lot after a play session. I've been using my Switch Pro Controller a lot and I really appreciate it for its long battery life and normal triggers, but after several years its buttons have started to feel less good to press, and my L1/R1 buttons (the triggers closest to the face of the controller) have gotten less responsive to the point that they sometimes don't work at all. So I might need to find a new controller soon. So. What's the best, most ergonomic controller I should consider if progressive triggers are the bane of my existence?

I want a cheap and good wired controller in which I can play most old and new games on PC. I don't care if it is brand or some Chinese knockoff. The WIRED and CHEAP part is important. 1$ is more than 100 in our currency. Links are not necessarry as I can't order internationally. Give model names or images. I am ready to do workarounds. HEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPP MMMEEEEEEE! So I just bought all the components I thought I needed for a build for my mother. It's got a RYZEN 7800X, b550 pro4 ASRock, montech case with three fans pre-installed and a controller. Of course I got her NVMe storage, an EVGA power supply and a GTX 1050 TI, RIP EVGA. For fans I also bought a three pack of lanli L2 fans and controller. For the past 2 days I've been trying to troubleshoot and I've had no luck. THE FANS ARE DETECTED by my system but I cannot edit them in any software that I can find. Even lanlis software will not work to monitor or do practically anything.. All the fans are ARGB and none of them are showing any signs of life. No movements, no lights, just the system recognizing they're there and The system knows they're not moving. I've tried adjusting fan curves in BIOS. I've tried switching connections. I literally tore everything apart last night and rebuilt it just to try and get this thing to work... I am very tired. I didn't know much about fans and controllers before this. This is my first full build. I've only ever upgraded a computer before. I am an RGB virgin. Is there firmware that needs to be installed that I don't know about..? I checked on the corresponding websites and there's no mention of firmware or anything like that. I mean hell, it's a fan. But I could be wrong. One of my final attempts at this is going to be rolling back the BIOS version. I had to update the BIOS to get Windows to install Windows 11. I guess another one of my questions is, pardon me for my ignorance, these fan controllers plug into USB pin layout? I mean I can see that those are the ports that it's going to... They are clearly labeled USB.. I might try unplugging both controllers and plugging them in once the computer is totally started up maybe... I just don't know why this is happening to me.. it's for my mom and her birthday like for real!!! HEEEEEELP

I've been searching online for an appropriate controller to use with my android phone (playing some retro games) It's all well and good that there's the "Gamevice" for ROG phones but I've no idea how well that would work on other phones, I don't know if there's anything proprietary going on. Has anyone got experience with this / can give any advice? Examples of what I've been looking at so far: GameSir X2 MANGGUO I'm tempted to try and cheap out on it given most high pricing but I'm a little uncomfortable with getting something that may fall apart day 1

Just moved into a new apartment with a buddy and I'm trying to do this setup where I run HDMI and USB from my PC (in my room) to the living room so we can do PC gaming in the living room when friends come over, but without my PC being moved. I checked the max length before signal degradation for HDMI/USB and should be good since I'm the room adjacent to the living room. I'm planning to have a wireless keyboard/mouse/controllers setup via a USB hub there. My question is what the best (up to 4 players, probably xbox style) controller setup is. I'm guessing it's a mix of a usb receiver and controllers, and idk past that. Will each controller need its own receiver? Do 3rd party controllers work with an official xbox receiver? Is there an easy 3rd party receiver/controllers option?

Thought it was a pretty cool feature to have in games like Ace Combat, pressing the button hard meant using your boost. Press button hard, plane goes faster! Was a bit clunky in Metal Gear Solid 2 though where it made the difference between crouching and crawling, that was pretty rubbish.

So in my quest to find a good mobile controller, I've decided to design some of my own. Here's an overview. There would be six individual SKUs, three basic, and three advanced. The first controller would be handlebar-style (like the psvita and gameboy advance.) The second would be clamshell style Like the DS) The third would also be clamshell styleb but include a resistive touchscreen. (You're probably thinking this is intended to better emulate ds and 3ds games. You'd be right.) All three controllers would utilize the Xbox/Playstation face button layout, with two circle pads oriented below the Face buttons and D-pad, similar to the Dualshock series. I would like the L3 and R3 buttons to be built into the 3ds style circle pads, however I'd settle for putting them as a separate button off to the side of each pad. All three controllers would feature 4 face buttons, two rear buttons, two rear analog triggers, a Nintendo-style D-pad, two 3ds-like circle pads the start and select buttons, a system menu button, and a turbo button The turbo button is a common staple of third party controllers, however I'd include some unique funtionality. Double-tap the turbo button, and an LED ring around the button will flash rapidly. Hold any button to activate turbo on that button. Repeat process to deactivate turbo. Hold the button down to enter sustained press mode, then hold down the button you want. The LED will sustain. to program. Now when the button is pressed once, it'll behave as if it is being held down. Pressing it again will stop. Repeat the programming process to disable sustained press. Double tap and hold to program sustained turbo. The led will blink slowly (relative to the flashing of turbo mode.) The programmed button will behave as if it is being held down with turbo mode enabled. Again, repeat the programming process to disable it. All three controllers will feature a capacitive Stylus and built-in holder. The third controller will feature a double-ended stylus for both resistive and capacitive touchscreens. The handlebar style will stretch open with a spring-loaded slide, while the clamshell design will feature a rotating clip to enable both portrait and landscape orientations. The advanced set has all the features of the basic set, but also includes it's own APU, RAM, and Storage dedicated for running and storing mobile games. Unfortunately I don't think Android is compatible with these "hardware boosters" just yet. The third controller's resistive touchscreen will be compatible woth a select number of apps, and will also be able to display a full qwerty keyboard, albeit with the limitations of a resistive touchscreen. The clamshell controllers would measure 6 inches by 3 inches, to fit with most smartphones, the clip would open up to 3.6 inches to fit most smartphones, and be able to extend and rotate for portrait or landscape mode. The handlebar controller would be about 3-4 inches vertically, with a slide that could stretch up to 7.5 inches wide to accommodate almost any smartphone. All three controllers would have its own internal battery, a USB-C passthrough and port for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack to plug in headphones. So there's my controller design. Probably the most difficult thing to find would be the circle pads, but everything else should be easily available. Now comes the question. Do you know anyone who can build it? If Linus can do it, I'd pay him to do so. All the websites I've found mostly do pre-made controller mods rather than fully custom builds.

The title says it all really. I like to use controllers for certain games, and I'm wondering what other people like using.

I don't know what else I can do by this point I've tried literally everything to fix a Bluetooth problem that not even Microsoft Support understands. Bluetooth is connected, pairs, but my controller needs to be so damn close to my pc in order to not have any amount of latency or disconnect. I've bought different usb dongles, pci cards with bluetooth, used different controllers, updated bios, uninstalled reinstalled drivers, wiped my entire drive and reinstalled windows. Not a slight improvement. Linux has no issues at all but I cannot play the games I want to play on there. If anyone can fix this problem I will pray to you every night before bed.

I've been playing Persona 4 Golden on PC, everything was good until I started noticing how bad the membrane buttons are in the Xbox One controller. Does anyone know of any other controller with some quality buttons? The Xbox One controller just feels so odd to me, It feels like there's a mushy snap whenever you press the X,Y,A, B buttons. It just caves in after a certain point and it would stay there until you release most of the pressure. Comparing it to other controllers, like the PS Vita or Wii U buttons is like night and day. The PS Vita buttons feels like mouse clicks, and the Wii U buttons doesn't have that mushy snap while the Xbox controller is like a bad membrane keyboard. I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 buttons wasn't like this. Please help me find a good controller for PC, preferably nothing too expensive since I won't use it that much. So I have a Nacon Revolution Pro controller that I use for FiveM but there are a couple problems. 1) the cord is worn out and they don't sell replacements to North America. 2) While playing FiveM, if my controller disconnects then reconnects it is no longer detected by the game. So that leads me to the question I hope I can get some answers on what should I do? Should I buy a brand new XB1 controller? Or should I buy an adapter for one of my DS4 controllers laying around?

I don't own any bluetooth controllers, so I would like to know If there's any way I can emulate physical bluetooth controllers using on screen gamepad

Hey ! i was planning a new build and the case I wanted had 3 pin fans included, but wanted to know if I can still adapt the fan speed or will it only run min/max on 3 pin as I’m assuming the 4th pin allows the speed management ? also can I run different fans with different RGB controllers like Aura or icue in the same case ? I’m guessing I can but they may not match up in lighting effects and colours but will just have to have multiple apps to run them ?

I want to get a controller for my PC, after quite a lot of googling and always ending up in a tie for both, I decided to ask people here. Please answer if you have experience with both. I don't have either console and I don't plan on buying. However, I've played in the past on PS2/3 and PSP, so the symmetrical analog sticks make more sense to me and I'm not sure if xbox will feel comfortable. Sadly, I don't know a place here where I can test them side by side. DS4 dissadvantages: - Need 3rd party driver(from what I've read they work fine). - The game will show xbox button icons (games can be modded, but it isn't always an option). - The battery isn't replacable, but I guess it should be fine for the next 2+ years. DS4 advantages: - Feels better because of symmetrical analog sticks ?? - Touchpad Xbox One Controller dissadvantages: - I need to buy rechargable batteries - asymmetrical analog sticks Xbox One Controller advantages: - Native Windows support. - Replacable batteries (even though I'd need to spend money, its a nice option to have) Things I'd like to know: Which lasts longer ? Or it depends on the quality of battery I get for the xbox controller. If I get the version of xbox with cable (it doesn't come with batteries, but its still wireless) can I connect it with bluetooth (my PC has wifi+bluetooth card) or I should buy the version with wireless adapter? Can xbox batteries be charged while they are in the controller and its connected to the PC via microusb cable, or I'll need a charger for them? Can I charge DS4 with phone charger ( 5V/1.8A, old charger) without damaging it, or its better to charge it from the PC via USB? What about the xbox controller? Does symmetrical vs asymmetrical even matter? Which has better build quality? Both are at nearly the same price here, but if I need to get good batteries for the Xbox controller, I guess it is the more expensive option.

I'm thinking of building an HTPC and connecting 4 PS4 controllers simultaneously. On my current PC, I have the Asus PCE-AC55BT which has Bluetooth. With 1 controller connected there's no lag whatsoever, but when multiple controllers are connected I start noticing some lag and packet loss, nothing too intrusive but it's definitely noticeable which means I can't play anything competitive like Rocket League unless I disconnect all the other controllers (R.I.P split screen). Anyways, since I'll be using the Fractal Design Node 202, I won't have space for a PCI adapter which means I'll have to use a USB. Which one should I get? (I'm currently considering this one.) And how different will the experience be? I won't be using the controllers more than a couple of meters away.

So i'm facing a problem, recently i got a Speedlink Drift OZ Gaming Steering Wheel and when i want to map my controls for some reason even though in control panel says everything works that's good, but here's the problem. I press the left pedal and it highlights as button 4 but i have a button that's set as button 4 already so technically i have 2 button 4's and when i map settings i get angry because i want to map my left pedal for brakes but it says the button is already used. Any way i can fix this. I appreciate the help!

Hi, I'm looking to acquire some cheap controllers for my PC. My roommates and I want to play Rocket League together on my PC via split-screen multiplayer, which can't be done without controllers. I figured I'd get us some controllers for that and other games, but I really don't want to spend a significant amount of money for just those few games. What are your recommendations?
