Hello everyone, so yessterday I got a PS3 and ps4 for a friend who joined the PC master race. I said I would take them and use them for parts. I figured out that the PS3 hdd works on my laptop (my laptops hard drive is dead). So is there any way to install my PS3 hdd into my laptop so I can use it for school? I know I need to format it, but I don't know how.

Disclaimer: I know Linus Tech Tips already has a video about this, I am just explaining what I see in this battle. To start I have various consoles, and a pretty decent gaming PC (entry/mid level). The war is here: PC's cost more than consoles. Well duh. Consoles can game, stream Netflix (i know what they can stream), and surf the web. PC's can game, stream, surf the web, download programs, run various programs, edit, word processing, calculating, bitcoin and litecoin mining, and finally be a tool at work and organizations. Xbox one: $500 (now $250) PC of same specs: more like a $500 upgrade alone from previous hardware Finally, custom PC's cost more because Microsoft and other console brands are buying components in BIG bulk, and custom builds are induvidual.

Lichdom Battlemage has been on the PC since 2014. It's made on CryEngine 3 and encorporates the second generation of AMD's TressFX (the first version to introduce the master/slave hair strand principle, that made TressFX so efficient in Rise of the Tomb Raider (third generation)). In the game you play as a mage, who can create their own spells, attacks etc. in first person. Well it has now been launched for PS4 and XBox One, and the results are insane. Playstation 4 never reaches 30fps and will mostly run sub 20 frames. Yes you read that right, SUB 20 FPS. XBone is even worse, with glaring screen tearing in every single scene. Despite this pathetic performance, at least the game has fast level loading. It only takes more than 2 minutes, but at least you won't need to reload the entire level when dying. WARNING: Watching this video might cause simulation sickness due to very low frame rates. My take on this: I cannot fathom how Sony or Microsoft could sign off on this release. The performance is unacceptable. This was originally a game made with the help of AMD to test out the second generation of TressFX, and was a fairly interesting take on a magic genre with customizable magic powers. However this console version should never have been released. I wonder if there is a problem with CryEngine 3, producing complex/nice looking graphics on consoles, or where the massive bottleneck is on this release. All I know is that I feel queezy from simulation sickness after watching this youtube video in full screen. UGH!. *Update* The devs seems to have fixed the horribly low FPS as mentioned here. Higher FPS, lower loading pauses (still high), this patch seems to actually make the game playable. The XBone version is the best, as the PS4 version has unlocked FPS, causing hitches and what not. Maybe it will be fixed in a later patch still? So I was just browsing through my local shops website and came across the "Pokemon section" and found the "2DS Special Edition Pokemon Bundle", I normally wouldn't even bother clicking on it, but then I saw it... It had a Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow game box next to it! So to my surprise after clicking on it, they are intending on porting the Original Red/Blue/Yellow/Green games to the 2DS preinstalled, along with making the 2DS in special colour varieties and including 15 stickers (yah stickers just what I wanted!) for Pokemon's 20th anniversary. Anyway the amazing thing for me is the price point being $149AUD ($100USD), at the priciest store in Australia. So hopefully if it releases anywhere else we might be looking at around $110AUD ($75USD). With this also including some of my childhood favourite games, I'm really tempted in picking one of these up so I can get back into Pokemon world. Now some of you may be like "why don't you just emulate it?", well this will allow me and some other people to have a good reason to have a go at Pokemon once again (maybe pick up the new gen games as well). Now after doing some research, these editions where also released in Japan at the end of 2015. They included all the same stuff included in the "english" version available for preorder now, apart from Pokemon Green edition not being available anywhere apart from Japan (It never got release in any other country originally as well, so that's fair enough). Japanese Release date: Late 2015 English Release date: 27/2/16 (Australia) Source: https://ebgames.com.au/3ds So What do you guy's think, will you be picking one of these up? I so want the Green, going to hit up some people to import it (hopefully english translation works)

This is just a fun little discussion I wanted to start because I'm curious to see what electronics other people have built or fixed recently. You could also explain how you fixed or built something so other people who might be having the same problem can learn how to do it. I'll go first: The most recent thing I fixed (5 hours ago) was an iPod Touch 5th Generation headphone jack. The person said the sound kept going in and out everytime they plugged in their headphones, and the cable was loose. I figured that the locking switches inside the jack were stuck, so I got them unstuck by wiggling the headphone plug around back-and-forth, and then cleaned out the inside with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, and it worked!

Don't really know what to say here, and I can't really give my opinion since I don't live in the United States, but I hope more retailers start doing this. Sorry if this has been posted already! Source: GameSpot TweakTown

Hey everyone, so after a long time as a console gamer and after countless of Build videos i switched to PC. With the budget i had i got these: CPU - AMD FX 6350 GPU - Nvidia GTX 960 (MSI gaming 2G) RAM - 2x4 Corsair Balistix at 1600Ghz and an SSD for the OS 'n stuff. MOBO and Case pretty cheap. This my first build, but i am pretty happy with how it works these last few days. So yeah, anything i could do different? I do plan on overclocking (very carefully) as soon i get a proper heat sink, does the MOBO have anything to do with how much i can overclock the CPU? Glad i am finally part of the PC community and i now can go and shout at people about how much consoles suck.

Are consoles better or PCs better. I am trying to covince my brother that PCs are better. He says that the graphics of consoles are better and are better than pc in every way.

I know PC is a master race and I have always been a PC gamer. However I'm starting up for Christmas and am considering buying one or the other. I have a pretty good laptop at the moment which can run most modern games at 1080p at medium/high settings. I want to use the laptop mainly for work and college so that's the main reason for the post. I like a good few things about a ps4: better local multiplayer (most pc games do not support this) some exclusives are really really good faster to get into game less wires tiny package the controller feels awesome in hand single store monthly/yearly subscription Then on the other house a PC is: way more powerful easily upgradable STEAM SALES console grade PC cheaper than a console plug in anything overclocking dedicated servers can be bulky way to many e-stores (origin, GoG, steam, etc..) Obviously PC wins the power specs but PS4 is a unified platform where devs can program games for the console and get a lot out of a mediocre GPU, while on PC every PC is almost different and a better GPU gives you an advantage but is never used to full potential even if you can max out games on 4k (it could do better if devs focused on a single GPU) I already own a windows 10 device which is pretty good: I7 4700HQ 16 Gbs of ram 2 Gigs GPU (Amd R9 M265x unfortunately but it runs smooth and at a 1080p in most new games) 1 Tb HDD (SSD coming soon) So in the end it's a tough decision for me. Both systems offer great experience and both have convincing pros and cons. That's why I'm asking you to help me to make up my mind. I often play splitscreen with my friends.

Hi, so, earlier, I poster a really dumb thread: "what?" I am now sure that the only way of playing console games on pc is by an emulator. And ps3 emulators will still take years to fully work so I can play the games I want, still at a locked (I suppose) quality. What if. Somehow, console companies launched some sort of "Console Card"? 1st of all, it would sure make them a TON of money so I don't think that would be an issue It could be like steam machines! Where you could play the games at a quality that you decided based on your pc! Wouldn't it be awesome? I might be completely wrong, but from what I've read, consoles work with a messed up OP CPU and a mid-range CPU, we (pc) already have the GPU's, good GPU's. Couldn't they just throw us some sort of CPU card? Like, something you just plug in ur pci/pci-e, Install some messy drivers, and play? I am gona be honest, I hate consoles. Sorry. I just don't like the way you have to pay x amount to get one that changes every 2 years and that has a 0 customization level. But I just want to play some of my childhood exclusives without having to pay for the console+game(all doe I'd buy the game, even if it was after I played it just to support the developers) or go to someone's house and play a SINGLE PLAYER game. Wouldn't it be the best for everyone? Let's see, a ps4 costs ~$350. I would not hesitate in buying a freaking "card" for like ~$240+ at all. If they are that bad about their mad money, they could just launch an stupid card 1/3 of the pc community would buy(I might be exaggerating). This is just and idea, it would also be nice if some third party could do it but it's probably illegal anyway.

So, let me see if I get this. This next paragraph is mostly hating Unless I spend many dollaz on a stupid ass console(along with the games), get a retarded processor and make magic so it exists and works on a pc, or wait 15 years for a decent emulator, I won't be able to play Ratchet & Clanck in my pc (let's ignore the fact that my pc is a briq)? WHO thought this up? Who was the butt? I mean, just because Sony doesn't want my fkn favorite childhood game to be playable on pc because it's apparently PROHIBITED to play with decent graphic setting around there, I am not allowed to play??? Cmon, there has got to be a way. No? I understand that I'm probably just another internet hater but that is bad. Besides, consoles suck, even if I was to buy one every two years (or whatever) throwing my money at the toilet (aka sony) so I could play that 1 game? AT **** SETTINGS?????? I only started thinking about this now because I have nothing to play or do(that I feel like) and I did some quick searching on that stuff. I had hurd so many times people saying consoles are CRAP, but it can't be that bad can it? Someone explain this to me.

Nintendo Will No Longer Sell Consoles or Games in Brazil
Rohith_Kumar_Sp posted a topic in Tech News
Goddamn , it's a re-post . sorry , didn't find the original post when i searched : http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/288127-nintendo-to-halt-console-and-software-distribution-in-brazil/ Nintendo is pulling out of Brazil. The company announced yesterday that it will no longer distribute products there due to the country's high tariffs on electronics, despite its "many passionate fans" that live there. Nintendo officially blames "challenges in the local business environment," including "high import duties…and our decision not to have a local manufacturing operation." They'll continue to distribute products elsewhere in South America, but for Brazil, Mario, Link and Pikachu are now effectively out of reach. Video game consoles are really expensive in Brazil. The PS4 costs $4,000 Brazilian Real there, which currently translates to almost $1,500 US, while the Xbox One sells for R$2,200, or just over $800. It's unclear why there's such a big difference between the two, but both consoles' high price tags can be attributed to the country's high import fees and taxes. So what about the Wii U? The console launched there in 2013 for R$1,899, which at the time converted to about $830 but now is closer to $700. That's cheaper than the Xbox One and PS4, but it's still far more expensive than in other countries. Why stop now? Research cited by Kotaku Brazil in 2013 found that the Xbox 360 was by far the most popular console there, and one can easily speculate that Nintendo hasn't gained much market share since then—they wouldn't be leaving if they had. Maybe they could have hiked the price up even more, but that wouldn't have helped if people aren't buying their stuff to begin with. Maybe this is a sort of protest, an attempt to nudge Brazil into becoming more friendly to electronics importers. It's impossible to know for sure, though, and Nintendo isn't saying much beyond its official statement, which you can read in full below Source : http://jogos.uol.com.br/ultimas-noticias/2015/01/09/nintendo-encerra-operacoes-no-brasil.htm http://www.polygon.com/2015/1/10/7524759/nintendo-brazil-wii-u-3ds-tariffs-taxes -

This is a question that has been thought about. Should next-gen consoles come with built in dust-filters? We've all seen the problems associated with the last-gen consoles including the overheating on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This led to people having to open up their consoles, void the warranty, and clean out the dust, but what if filters came built into the system? I imagine these filters would be on the intakes of the consoles and the screw for removing them hidden under a plastic cover on the outside of the console. This would make it so users can simple remove cover, unscrew a single screw and pull out the dust filter for cleaning. Benefits: -Less dust on the consoles components. -Better cooling (If the filters are cleaned every 6 months) -Longer lifespan Drawbacks: -Users won't know this filter exists. -Could clog if uncleaned for years. Is this a good or bad idea?
