Hey. I currently own a Msi z97 board with i3 4160. I plan to upgrade my system. I have three choices But i can afford only 2 of these i need ur help to choose guy. First i can swap my 4160 with i7 4790k and i am planning on overclocking so i might need a non-stock intel cooler to get to good overclocks. So i decide to go with corsair H100i.But my case does not support dual fan cooling. I dont want to go with single fan either. So i plan on buying Cooler master scout 2.It has top mounts to house the cooler. Or i could go with my default case and shove the cooler somewhere in my case.Or i shall buy the cooler and the case To cool my entry level i3 and call it a day. What shall i choose? I can afford any two of those and would a beastly gpu fit inside cm scout 2 if am planning to upgrade?

I've got a bit of an odd one here so I'll give you a bit of back-story. So maybe 2 years back my brand new pc just straight up explodes right next to me, flames and all. Sad times, all caused by a cheap PSU and a lack of surge protection. Lesson learned. Fast forward a bit, I earned enough money to buy a new mobo, ram, hard drives, ssd and all except for my R9 270x which miraculously survived that power surge. Now finally, here's my problem. Recently my computer has started to just completely freeze out of nowhere, no blue screen, no errors or anything. When rebooted everything launches fine as if nothing ever happened. This isn't even something that happens for any observable reason yet something tells me it has to be the GPU, since it's the only component I have from when everything surged. I've run some stress tests such as Unigine Heaven, and MSI Kombustor but I get no problems. What's going on?

I have been having this weird issue with my computer over the last few months. I normally keep my PC in sleep mode when I am not using it, but occasionally I will need to restart it or the power will go out. Sometimes when I restart it, nothing will happen once it is past the shut down phase of Windows. The screen will go black, and the fans/lights in my case will be on, but my display will say no input detected. I have tried waiting for 4-5 minutes to see if it will do anything, but nothing ever happens. My monitor will just go into sleep mode with my PC still running. The way I have been getting around this is to hit the power button to turn off the PC, wait for the fans to stop spinning, and hit the power button again. I found that if I don't wait for the fans to stop spinning, it will do the exact same thing it was doing before. I have updated my BIOS to see it that will help, but it hasn't. The most frustrating thing about this is that is doesn't always happen, and it is always a gamble when I do decide to restart. If anyone has experienced this issue and found a way to fix it, please let me know.

Greetings reader, I'm planning on upgrading or in other words replacing parts of my rig because i just damaged my MOBO(Gigabyte*something*) and CPU(AMD Phenom II X6 Processor). I was using the CM 690 II case with Cooler Master GX650 power supply and Corsair H100 for CPU cooler and i want to continue using them. I don't plan on changing my HDD, Optical drive, case fans or other little things. Before we begin i need you, the reader to know that :- *I always prefer Intel over AMD and Nvidia over ATI. I don't want to start a war, it's just my preference.BTW, i was using the above mentioned AMD processor and ATI 6850 before so i'm not being biased or anything. *I don't plan on overclocking. 1. For CPU i was thinking of going with the new Skylake processor 6600 or 6600K. I'm not sure which one to go for. 2. For MOBO i was thinking of going with Gigabyte Z170 D3H because my senior colleague advised me to go for Gigabyte's 'Ultra Durable' motherboards. I want to stick around $200 or so and i'm also open for other suggestions. -I will need 16GB DDR4 or may be more for the upgrade. But 16GB is a good start. -In the future, not the near future, i plan on using a Nvidia Quadro card too along with a GTX for rendering purposes as i'm an architect and i also work on 3Ds and graphics. So that means i need two PCI ex slots. Not one of the strong requirements but yea, i would like that. -I will need the motherboard to be strong and reliable for the long run. -I'm willing to spend $200-$250 or so for the MOBO. 3. For GPU i'm confused between GTX 760 2GB and GTX 960 4GB. GTX970 or above goes above my budget. As mentioned above along with playing games i would i also like to render and work on 2D and 3D applications even before instaling the Quadro(later future add-on). I would really appreciate you someone can help me out in my quest.

Hello, I am going to get a new pc(CPU and Motherboard) and stuck on the choice of Intel i5 4690K(or 4590) and Intel i5 6600/6600K(or even 6500) As they are on the same price range in my local shopping website. Can anyone provide the pros and cons or any suggestions as to which one to get ??? What I know(please correct me if I go wrong) : the latest 6th gen has problem regarding some aftermarket cooler, I am not looking to Overclock, hope the cooler that comes along will work. What will I do : This is not a gaming pc, it is for my digital art work, which needs a powerful CPU primarily. My confusion is Why are the prices same ? Should I just go for the 6th gen or see both their specs (which you can help me with?) ?

The, "Whole Room Water Cooling", series/setup was pretty damn awesome, but what about the future of it? Linus Media Group will be moving in to their new Studio/HQ building at some point this year or next, so how would one transfer over that entire setup? One would have to drain the loop and de-solder all the copper piping, move the pumps, reservoir, radiator array, filter, and sterilizer too. Then they would have to re-setup the entire loop again at the new Studio, which means re-soldering all the piping back together. This would be quite the tedious task, and may even require additional piping or materials. Maybe they'll keep the setup, maybe they won't. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi all, I am a long time builder of all things pc based but this is my first foray into 3 screen setup and eyefinity in particular. I have it all setup, my 3 cards are all the same (which I know isn't necessary) all are plugged into the same card and can be set into an eyefinity group. The problem that I am having is that I wanted my screens to "curve" around me but my games require them to be straight. Is there any way to change this? I am presently running on a Sapphire 7950 3gb and am awaiting the arrival of my 2nd card of the same. Many thanks for looking and hopefully being the one who has the answer that I am looking for. MattyD E2A 3 screens are all the same, not same cards

Hey guys! I basically know nothing about Esports. I'm really curious, but I don't understand it. So I know MOBAs are big in Esports, and I'm pretty sure CS:GO is too. So I don't understand. Are there certain teams, and each team can play different games? Or does each team belong to a certain league/game? I'm just really confused. Lol. I know there's like Ninjas in Pyjamas or something, and then I think there's a team called Dignitas. Am I right? Anyway please explain to me how all this works lol. Thanks! -Jordan

Hi Linus forums! First off, because I know if I didn't you'd lynch me, here are my PC specs so you don't have to look at my profile. Some specs are vague and I will edit them when I know the finer details. CPUi5 2400 3.1GHz MotherboardIntel H61 Chipset Motherboard RAM10GB DDR3 1333Mhz GPUGTX 660ti Windforce OC CaseCarbide Series® SPEC-01 Storage1TB SATA PSU600W Display(s)Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD 1080P 60Hz CoolingFan x2 (One at the top of the case, one on the CPU) KeyboardCorsair K65 MouseLogitech G600 SoundApple Heaphones Operating SystemWindows 7 My problem is as follows: I have upgraded to a Corsair Carbide Spec-01 case which has a built in fan which lights up and one standard USB port as well as one USB 3.0 port. The fan does not light up nor run when the PC is turned on. The USB 3.0 does not work either when I plug a device such as a pen-drive or iPhone into it. In addition to this I need advice. I think my motherboard is too limited to have more than one fan. I wish to install two more fans to have a total of 5 fans. One fan will go next to my main fan and push air into the computer. The other fan will go perpendicular to the two main fans to push air outside of the PC case. How can I achieve this with my current motherboard? If I need to get a new motherboard what should I look for so that I can achieve this? I have provided pictures below of my computers intestines so you can tell me what I haven't plugged in, or what I've plugged in incorrectly. I hope these photos are clear enough. If you need further photos of my PC I am willing to provide extras as best as I can. I tried linking the images so you wouldn't need to view them by clicking links but the formatting f*ucked messed up and I can't be bother to try fix it. Here is an imgur album of all the pictures below anyway: http://imgur.com/a/Jwitd

I know this is a long shot and a weird one for my first post , but i will go ahead with it any way. I am just a random 17 year old dude. I started making videos back in 2009 on a crappy acer computer (It was considered a beast back then lol). I loved technology every since i was a kid ( My cousin brothers were into tech and all that kind of stuff so i got into it too. They use to build their own PC and i use to think it was somekind of magic ) Anyway i was in and out of gaming since i was a kind. Along the way on YouTube i got into filming and video production ( i just loved the fact that a video could make such huge impact on people) I love making videos and its just makes me happy and i want to do it for the rest of my life but there is a problem.... As i am the only "Guy" in the family everyone expect me to be the best, which is very hard. So when they asked me what i want to be i told them i want to become a programmer (Don't get me wrong, i love programming but making videos is more fun). I will finish my 12th grade soon (march) and will hopefully move to Canada where i have bunch of friends. So i am completely lost... should i go on and learn programming at uni or pursue video production (which is hit or miss) ?? Your opinion might or might not help me choose. Would be nice to see what you guys think

I love using speakers and headphone combo so I can just go into the sound settings and change which device is default that I want to use. But since switching to headphones that require a 3.5mm jack windows does not recognize both devices (speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time). I have a soundcard and the only device that works is the one that is plugged into the soundcard at the time. In other words, when I plug in my speakers to the card they work, but if I plug my headphones into the on board audio they do not vice versa. Can anyone help me out with this? Here is a photo of what it looks like when both are plugged in. http://imgur.com/sJv2Pc5%C2'> As you can see my 5.1 speakers are plugged in but win7 fails to recognize that there are also headphones.

Recently my while using my computer I was screwing around watching three movies on all three of my monitors (context not important) when my computer froze but unlike a normal freeze the screens went black and did not come back on. Tried all the obvious things, (windows d, Ctrl alt delete etc) but the screens remained black while the actual computer seemed fine, fans were still spinning, LEDs were all on. I resorted to holding down the power button for a forced restart but when I tried turning it back on again there was still no image while the computer was fine, including postcodes, something I did not check at the time of original error. This was about 2 hours ago and I have left it for a while, tried using onboard graphics, unplugged my monitors, plugged them back in to different ports on my GPU, checked the input on the monitors. Just tried again with onboard graphics and managed to get a picture. My computer no longer acknowledges the presence of my GPU and I have no idea what I can do. When I try and boot with the display cables plugged into the GPU the, Boot_Device_LED comes on, something that does not occur when booting on onboard graphics. If anyone has any ideas or tips they can give me PLEASE help, I am freaking out about what to do... System is custom, with parts as follows: 4790k CPU GTX 980 GPU Asus z97 Pro (WiFi AC) Motherboard EVGA supernova 750w PSU Custom water cooling loop

Hi. I've got a question about M.2's Basically, which is faster. an integrated M.2 or a PCIe. For example you are using a Samsung XP941 xGB M.2 NGFF PCIe in a M.2 port that supports 10 Gb/s and you have one that is in a PCIe M.2 Mount(?I am not so sure if that is how it works?). which would be faster? Please I personally have no idea what the difference is so please enlighten me. make me smarter! I believe in you guys! what does the PCIe do? does it do more than a normal integrated M.2 port? Easily said, I am pretty confused. I have the motherboard z97 Pro so I am just wondering how I would benefit from a PCIe M.2, or if the integrated M.2 is just as good. (or even better)

It's that time of year in the UK where we choose what GCSES we will study, I am forced to do triple science (by my school) as well as the essentials but apart from that I get 3 options, I have already decided that I'm doing computing, (I'm a member of a technology forum - so it's a no-brainer) But aside from computing it's either: Geography or History French or German My question is which would benefit me more in a IT career? Thank You

Hey guys. I'm considering getting this PSU for my [potential] home server build, because it would only go to about 200w power usage - at most. Potential server build thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/293340-potential-home-server-mainly-using-older-parts/ It's cheap and has good reviews, but the reviews are mainly from people who used this to replace OEM PSUs. ITEM LINK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sumvision-Power-Supply-2xSATA-24PIN/dp/B00642F8AU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1421776632&sr=8-5&keywords=psu#Ask What do you guys think?

I'm rather confused about positive air pressure, negative pressure and balanced air pressure. Sometimes I see builds where the person has 3 120mm fans at the front, a dual 140mm rad with the appropriate fans installed, with only a single static pressure 140mm fan in the rear acting as an exhaust fan. That seems to be a build with a LOT of positive air pressure. But I also see opposite, and it seems to be pretty hard to have a balanced air pressure. I just need some clarification on what's acceptable within the world of air pressure in a case for optimal performance. Thanks.

I recently upgraded to a whole new setup. I upgraded from a Fx 8320 to an i5 4690k. I was using my rajentek triton cooler on the 8320 i was getting around 24-30idle 35-43 under load. I switched to the i5 and used the same cooler but with Th i5 i am getting 35-40idle 40-51 under load which is a lot higher then i was expecting to see. Is this normal to happen? Are these temps okay? I did switch cases from a Thermaltake commander to an h440 would that have causes the raise in temperatures? I was under the impression the i5 would be cooler? I also have a question on fan setup the front of the h440 has 3 fan slots and i have 2 of them exhausting out through the radiator and the bottom fan blowing in. Does this create a issue or should it be fine? Should i turn that fan around? I also have 2 fans on the top pulling in air while the back fan is exhausting are these fans canceling each other out?
