It can be said that every year there are a few trends in technology. Last year it seemed to be about bigger and bigger phones, but this year the two that should define 2014 were wearables and 4k. So far, arguably no one has seemed to have got the concept right (besides Pebble), and now, its Acer's turn. Today the company unveiled its first smartwatch device; the Liquid Leap. The Leap comes in a variety of bright, cheerful colours. It looks like a rubber wristband, with the segment that contains the thin display thickened slightly. Sleek is the word that comes to mind, as the screen sits flush with the band. Speaking of the display, it is an extremely thin, one inch touch screen, and you can tap it to wake it up; no awkward shaking gestures here, thankfully. The feature list for the Leap is rather impressive: Call and SMS notifications Sleep tracking Pause, play, and skip songs Step counter Distance travelled Water Proof Calories burned The UI did seem a little clunky unfortunately, and the lack of physical buttons only made matters worse, but the omission is understandable. It consists of screens that display different pieces of information, but they aren't adjustable. If the screen to skip a song lies three screens in, you're going to have to swipe twice, from left to right, three times. Another issue is compatibility. At launch it will only work with the newly announced Jade smartphone, with other smartphones added as time goes on. The Liquid Leap connects using Bluetooth 4.0, and boasts between five to seven days of battery life. Not bad. Information on pricing is as sparse as the buttons on the device, with Acer quoted as only saying that it will be under 99 Euros. All in all, it's a solid effort from Acer. Engadget's more in depth article: http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/02/acer-liquid-leap-hands-on/?ncid=rss_truncated&utm_campaign=socialmedia_gpl&utm_source=socialmedia_gpl&utm_medium=gp My blog (from where this post came from): http://theballofgum.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/acer-liquid-leap-smartwatch-more-than.html

Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/corsair-cherry-mx-keyboards-mice-gaming,26934.html#xtor=RSS-998 http://www.anandtech.com/show/8097/corsair-launches-k70-and-k95-cherry-mx-rgb-keyboards-m65-rgb-mouse So I am not going to talk about the RGB keyboards. That has already been posted here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/160697-computex-press-releases-bitfenix-corsair-noctua/ The new mouse will be pretty standard for a mouse today, but it has RGB lighting which is new inside Corsair's Mxx mouse lineup. It will have a "custom tuned" 8200 DPI sensor, three-zone 16 million color RGB backlighting and "aircraft-grade", as Corsair calls it, aluminium form-factor that will ensure lightweight and durable performance. The mouse also features your regular on-the-fly DPI adjustment buttons, and a total of eight buttons. The mouse can be your's for $70. I don't think that this is as important as the RGB keyboards, but it is nice to see Corsair going away from having their mice light up in only one color. EDIT: Added price and another source for ya'!

ASUS Launches Two SFF ROG Gaming PCs: The G20 PC and the GR8 ‘Console’
Guest posted a topic in Tech News
ROG G20 Gaming Desktop The G20 Gaming Desktop, winner of a Best Choice Golden Award at Computex, uses a 12.5 liter chassis with no visible vents to support a Haswell Core i7 CPU with an NVIDIA GTX 780. The design uses ‘aggressive’ lines with a matte black finish in the red/black style of ASUS’ gaming range. The lighting on the outside of the case is split into three regions, each of which can be user controlled to 8 million different colors. ROG GR8 Console Gaming PC Text-speak aside (greeeeat), the GR8 equips an i7 with a GTX 750 Ti to provide a small form factor system designed for both gaming and streaming. Equipped with a Miracast receiver, the system will accept content from supported Android smartphones, tablets, Windows 8.1 PCs and WiDI 3.5+ devices. No pricing is yet available, though the GR8 is expected to launch in North America in Q3 as well. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8082/asus-launches-two-sff-rog-gaming-pcs-the-g20-pc-and-the-gr8-console -
Gaming Peripherals from ASUS Launched: The Gladius Mouse and GK2000 Keyboard
Guest posted a topic in Tech News
ROG Gladius Gaming Mouse The ROG Gladius Gaming Mouse has been styled by a committee of gamers specifically for first person shooters with the reported emphasis on ergonomics, precision and customization. Unfortunately for southpaws (I will ask if another version will come to market), the Gladius is designed for right-handed gamers with a fingertip DPI selection, up to a peak of 6400 dpi via its optical sensor. The Gladius can poll at 200 Hz and is sufficient for up to 50G acceleration. ROG GK2000 Gaming Keyboard The black art of designing the perfect gaming keyboard is almost impossible, mostly because so many users are different in their tastes. The GK2000 is ASUS’ answer, pairing Cherry MX Reds with a macro-capable system and built-in anti-ghosting technology. ASUS in their coverage likes to point out the premium metal accents and red-backlighting, which they have programmed in for five different effects. No mention of release date or pricing as of yet, although typically these devices are sold more in Asia than in the Americas or in Europe. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8086/gaming-peripherals-from-asus-launched-the-gladius-mouse-and-gk2000-keyboard -

NZXT has kicked off Computex with the launch of their mid tower version of the H630 silent case. Seems like a very interesting case, considering it's only $69.99. http://nzxt.com/ http://nzxt.com/product/detail/130-h230-case http://www.pcper.com/news/Cases-and-Cooling/Computex-2013-NZXT-Launches-Silent-Tool-less-H230-Mid-Tower-Case

Hey guys, I saw an article on Tom's Hardware about the new Gtx 760 and that it was "Pictured" They wrote that it doesn't look very impressive becouse there are only a couple of specs shown. The specs on the picture are the only specs there are from this card. Is this a real 760? and if it is when do you guys think it will be released? Intel is revealing some more information about their Falcon Ridge Thunderbolt controller (to be released in 2014) and they gave the new Thunderbolt spec a new name: Thunderbolt 2 So far the only thing we know is that it will sport a new 20Gbps bi-directional channel that can handle both data and/or display as opposed to the current 10Gbps per channel Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7026/intel-announces-thunderbolt-2-at-computex-20gbps-bidirectional-bandwidth-per-channel Do you use Thunderbolt? If so, will this be of any benefit to you? I think the ability to support 4K sounds nice, I'm curious what the frequency would be though, but 20GB should be enough to transfer 4K at 60Hz.

If you watched any videos on the Fractal Design booth at Computex 2013, you will see the augmented reality thing on the iPad. They keep saying you can download the 'trigger' at their website but I can't find it. Is it not available yet? Where can I get one/it? P.S. Sorry for posting in the wrong section, I honestly have no idea where this should be.

I personally am loving the new Thermaltake cases at Computex this year, I'm really looking forward to the S71 Snow Edition. That thing looks absolute boss @_@ Thermaltake has really stepped up their game with these new cases, I hate their older cases, they look too flashy and plasticy. Anyone else excited for the new cases?

Some of you may remember my previous post about the new Zenbook Infinity being present at Computex, but nobody was allowed to touch it and we didn't know much about the specs. One thing we did know for sure was that it was very beautiful, probably the best looking notebook at Computex. The guys at Anandtech have managed to get a hands on with a fully functional 13.3" version, featuring a 2560x1440 capacitive touch IPS panel and a Gorilla Glass 3 lid. However it still keeps the radial brushed finish from previous Zenbooks/Transformers on the aluminium underneath the glass. The result looks extremely beautiful from the picture and I bet it looks even better IRL. I hope ASUS has used an oleophobic layer to decrease fingerprints, though. The version they had actually has a dark blue finish on it and the ASUS logo is illuminated. The build quality, trackpad and keyboard felt great on the prototype machine (nice to hear considering how annoying the trackpad on the UX31 can be from experience). A big problem with high resolutions on small displays is that Windows does not scale well at all, as can be seen with the previous Zenbook models featuring a 1080p display, we can only hope Microsoft will fix that in W8.1, which they should considering their major competitor already has a product with similar PPI to this (MBP13" and possibly the MBA 13" at WWDC or later this year). Internally the Zenbook has a Core i7-4558U featuring Intel's Iris 5100 graphics, which should be good for the tasks this notebook is made for (word processing, browsing, video etc.) while also being very power efficient. There is no mention, however of what the expected battery life is. There is no word on when it will be available but Anandtech expects it to be released close to Windows 8.1 launch, hopefully that means the DPI scaling problem will be fixed. Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7035/asus-zenbook-infinity-hands-on-with-the-most-beautiful-notebook-at-computex What do you think about this product? If the DPI scaling issues with windows are fixed, do you think you'd be convinced to buy this/something similar? Have you ever seen a sexier notebook? I personally love the UX31, the thinness and lightness really make it a great laptop to carry for school and it performs very smooth during everyday tasks so I can only expect this to be even better. Depending on the price and whether the issues I talked about are fixed, I might consider buying one around Christmas time.

I don't know why this was missed, but here it is anyways: Cougar showed off two new keyboards called the 400K and the 450K. Both these keyboards feature pseudo-mechanical switch. They are basically membrane switches under the hood, but provide the tactile bump of a mechanical switch. The membrane switch is key for these keyboards (unintentional pun) for being splash-proof. However, the 450K differentiates from its smaller brother by including back-lighting with three color options (no rainbow monkey-business here) and support for Cougar UIX software for custom key mapping. Both these keyboards come at an entry-level price point, providing users the tactile feel of a mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank, with the 400K coming at a mere $60 price tag (couldn't find the price for the 450K). 400K: 450K in all its splash-proof glory: My take on this: Personally I am really excited for this. I am not a really big fan of mechanical switch, especially due to it's noise, but I really like the big key-caps they usually have as well as their rigidity. These seem to fill all the boxes for me. Also, spill-proof means I can have my dinner in front of my computer while watching the WAN show without worrying about spills . Win win. Btw, this is my first news post. Hope you guys like it. Source: http://www.anandtech...anical-keyboard Big shout-out to @GoodBytes for helping me with my first news post. You're awesome!

The guys over at MaximumPC has managed to snap what looks like a case made by Noctua. No information about this case can be found, but their image caption did say "Many of the cases at Computex will never see the light of day in the US". So that either means, it's a actual case made by Noctua or just some case painted by someone with the Noctua colors. Personally I like the design of the case, as for the colors, brown can look nice when it's done properly. Yanked this pic from the interweb! Image credit: MaximumPC
