Preface: My hardworking friend is having a birthday coming up on November 8th. 12 others and myself decided to throw down on a new, much deserved, PC for him. Since this build is funded my multiple people, as a gift, I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible. (Although, the budget is flexible, some are willing to pay more than others). PC's Purpose: The PC will primarily be used for gaming at 1080p, hopefully around 144fps for less demanding games and over 60fps for more demanding ones (at reasonably high-ish quality settings). What I Want Help With: 1. Critique on my current parts list. 2. I'm looking for components with a really good value, and good performance. 3. Parts that will last multiple years, or at the very least, be replaced free by manufacturer if broken. 4. Sellers that have really good deals/sales/events/specials between now and Mid-October. (We have a person who works at Micro Center who gets a "family and friends discount" early October, that's yet to be seen). 5. What components to upgrade given the remaining funds 6. Any suggestions. Here is a spreadsheet on the current budget/build: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18UW7L6qM-6ooJMnT4bSPTiu6JKlFHPeR_svigphBlnA/edit?usp=sharing The left sheet is my friend, Evan's Computer Build, and his suggestions. The right sheet is Me, Dan's Computer Build, and my suggestions. Please only critique the right side. I'm very open to suggestions, and I appreciate your time. -Dan

newbuild HELP with Components best selection
kyrios01 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello!I would like someone to tell me if i am not about to commit a mistake.im going to buy a new MOBO, CPU and RAM, and i selected this:1. i5-7600k2.ASUS B250 ddr43. corssair 8gb 2400MHZ LPXbut the seller also gave me the following components as options:1. GIGABYTE GA-B250M-DS3H 2. i5 7500My need:im wont overclock even with a "k" CPU, but i like that extra raw power of the "k" version of the 7600, and that's why i didnt go for a z170 o z270 mobo.so, with that mindset, is the asus mobo a better option from gigabyte? am i too crazy choosing a "k" cpu just for raw power?what i already have:1.asus strix gtx 9702.PSU 550watts3.500gb samsung SSD4.2Tb seagate HDDthanks in advance for the help and advice- 14 replies

looking for advice on the choice of some components
Graouw posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello everyone. I want to open some kind of pc bang and I was wondering what would be the best components for the computers in terms of value. The type of games that we'll be running are League of legends, fortnite & csgo. I was thinking about: MSI Z370-A Pro or B360 aorus Intel Core i3-8350K (4.0 GHz) or i5 8400 Ventirad : be quiet! Pure Rock Arctic Silver 5 MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G G.Skill RipJaws 5 Series 8 Go DDR4 3000 MHz (maybe i should get 2400 MHz instead?) SSD UV400 240 Go EVGA 450BT 80+ Bronze I have no idea about which case I should buy with 40-50 euros budget. I was considering the bitfenix nova but the "thermal benchmark" doesn't look really great. Let me hear your suggestions guys cheers !- 1 reply

link to cyberpowerpc build: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1KMP8T Link to custom build that I wanted to at first: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3MCkfH Both are close in costs with the cyberpower being only $200 more expensive and with it being on sale it seems like the prebuilt is a much better deal.

Hi,This is my first time using a forum so I'm not really sure how this works. Anyway, I am looking for some advice on these components. This build was completed not to long ago and I'm wondering..."What a fair reselling price would be if hypothetically all the components had no warranty?"The pc has barley been used. I am just trying to familiarise myself with pc prices and how warranty affects these prices.Components:- NZXT H400i Case - Corsair TX650M 650W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - NZXT Aer F 140mm Fan x2 - NZXT Internal USB Hub - Cooler Master MasterGel Pro - NZXT Kraken X62 - Western Digital WD Blue 1TB HDD - Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD - Intel Core i7 7700K - ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Strix Aura 8GB - Corsair Vengeance RGB CMR16GX4M2D3200C16 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 - Gigabyte GA-Z270MX-GAMING 5 Motherboard - Windows 10 I spent about AU$3000 (US$2250) on this build. Would you say perhaps 20% off or maybe even something higher?Any advice will be very much appreciated . Thanks in advance.

8bitdo's controllers have been getting a lot of praise, and for a long time I've done the same. They've got a great look, and their multi-device connectivity makes them ideal... sort of. Unfortunately I've run into a rather serious issue that's only going to be discovered over time. How well do these devices stand up to continued usage? Not well, as it turns out. For your information, I've been using an 8bitdo N30 Pro which I bought last year, about this time. Didn't use it until - in fact - my Mom adopted it to play Stardew Valley. She loves it, but we've run into an issue after about the 150 hour mark. That sounds like a lot, but not for a gamepad. Bear in mind I didn't use it at all except for configuration, prior. This means the controller has less than 200 hours of wear on its buttons. Well, the rubber under the d-pad has almost completely failed. Two of the rubber buttons have lost their elasticity (not being very thick to begin with), and another of the buttons has nearly made a break for it - literally. For reference, many of the controllers SNES controllers made in the 90s are still perfectly servicable even twenty years later. I don't know what the survival rate is, but you get the idea. These are undoubtedly cheap parts, but as the N30 retails for no less than $50 (I bought it from Best Buy for $90, yeah, I know...), I can't say I'm impressed. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Of course, the issue of replacing the controller is moot, and the alternative made by SteelSeries, the Stratus, is apparently no longer being manufactured. Amazon is just selling off old stock at an absurd price. I know, it's a niche product. I'll try contacting 8bitdo about this issue. If anyone is interested to hear more about this, I can update this post/thread as it develops. Oh, yeah, I've probably bungled any easy replacement by gluing a replacement rubber pad to the PCB. It sort of works, but the glue is shorting two of the connections... but I'm sure I can clean that up with a little rubbing alcohol.

Hello guys! So recently I've found out that there is high-pitched sound comming from my mouse lazer(LED detector) when moving it. When it stays still, however, there is fizzing sound. I've found posts where people say it's a speaker problem, tho while listening very close I can clearly say it's comming from the mouse itself. I've tried to change the USB port to different one, no change at all. Is the mouse supposed to make that sound?

I'm on the very last bit of ordering stuff for my new build (finally). It's my very first time doing any water cooling, but I think I should be fine. Went through some different layouts for the pipes, but then I found this photo online and immediately thought to myself "I'm doing this": Here are my questions: - What type of reservoir is it? Seems to be from EK, but their website doesn't represent scale very well. - Is the reservoir in some type of combo or do I have to put it on a pump myself? If so, is it easy? - Is the top of the radiator standard to the reservoir? If not, what is it? - Is this 10/12mm tubes or 12/16mm? - What is a good brand that makes fluids? I want a UV Green reactive fluid, transparent like in the photo.

Hey everyone, This is just a question I've had for a while ever since getting in on the tech scene: Why don't TechTubers or tech sites use userbenchmark.com to compare components? It seems like an effective system, when you benchmark your PC it tests both it's stock and current (if overclocked) capabilities and pools the general performance of specific items. However, I never see it online as a comparison, only when I use the site. What's the reason behind this?

Hi guys, planning on getting my cousin a somewhat budget comp that is somewhat future proof, and was wondering if this comp is fine for gaming? Keep in mind that I'm giving him an HDD, SSD and my old GPU (GTX 970) So he's essentially only paying for the base (cpu, mobo and ram).. Is this worth it? He mainly plays eSports titles: csgo, league, ow, dota and so on.. - MOBO: Asus Prime Z370-P ATX LGA1151 - PSU: (CX500) Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze - CPU: Intel - Core i3-8350K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor - GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX - RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Extra: - Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB 2.5" SSD and Seagate - BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD - Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO - OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Hi guys, basically my current system is a pretty solid one for eSports titles but my GPU is starting to lack a bit so I decided to upgrade to a 1070, problem is that I feel like my performance has dipped a bit, and I've been reading through the forums, and people are basically saying that the 6600k is sort of bottlenecking the 1070? Would it be smart of me to upgrade to a 8600k or a 7700k which seem to be the perfect fit for a 1070? If I'm planning to upgrade to get the maximum performance out of my 1070 I'm probably gonna sell my current parts to a friend for half the prize, so in the end I'm not really paying that much if I were to upgrade, would it be smart or what?- Current system:PSU: CM B600 v2Mobo: MSI Z170-A ProCPU: i5-6600kGPU: ASUS Strix 970 4GBRAM: Kingston value ram 2400mhz 8GB- New build:PSU: Not sureMobo: MSI Z370-A ProCPU: i5-8600kGPU: ASUS GTX 1070 8GBRAM: CV DDR4 3000mhz 16GB
