After an update to Windows 10 I started having problems with AMD Radeon 6600m and 6700m series. The problem is - it doesn't work. I tried everything: installing older drivers (legacy drivers), installing new drivers, uninstalling and wiping drivers of both graphics and installing drivers manually. The problem didn't go away. In MSI Afterburner it looks like AMD is working but when I track graphics memory usage it shows that actually it doesn't use AMD and uses integrated graphics instead. Even tho that the laptop works on High Performance it still blindly uses integrated Graphics. What should I do? (I have an assumption that the hardware is simply not compatible with Windows 10 and that I got it running is a pure miracle. Also MAYBE AMD graphics card is actually working but just simply cannot be monitored with any software)

New build PC with the following specifications: Motherboard: ASRock X670E Pro RS CPU: AMD Ryzen 7700x GPU: Galax RTX 4090 PSU: Corsair RM1000x (1000w) OS: Windows 11, 22H2 (22621.1) NVIDIA Driver: 528.02 (also tried 522.25) The GPU functions normally on basic driver support, and can boot into Windows, until drivers are installed. At this time, it disappears from Device Manager (though remains visible in DDU) and does not successfully boot. It hangs after about 4 seconds after posting. I've heard that AM5 motherboards have compatibility issues with RTX4090; so I have flashed my BIOS from the shipped BIOS (1.03) to the latest release (1.11) and later tried 1.11AS01 (beta). None resolved the issue. Similarly, I updated the firmware of the RTX4090 using the utility provided by NVIDIA; with successful update but no difference in behaviour. I have tested the GPU in another system; and it works normally with the most recent drivers. I have also tested the board with an RTX2070 which worked normally with the most recent drivers. The issue only occurs when pairing the X670E/7700X with the RTX4090. I've tried numerous clean installs using DDU but cannot get it to function with drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions? or is it time to RMA my new motherboard and get one that is confirmed to support the 40xx series GPUs? Thanks

Need advice with SSD compatibility and SATA 3 slot issues.
Ssapdra posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hey, Thank You for any replyies in advance The situation - I am running out of storage space so I bought another SSD plugged it in aaand nothing, it do not get detected so I looked up model of my mobo and there is mentioned that - 2 SATA Express Connectors and now I am not sure if it means that only 2 SATA cables are included or if its the number of SATA connections its able to have at any given time? Despite the board have 6 physical SATA cable slots. Question 1 - Can i connect more than 2 disks trough SATA connection? If yes how can i troubleshoot this further? Question 2 - Should i get M.2 one instead and connect that as 3rd disc? I think it should be compatible in that way but I do not feel confident in my assesment anymore XD MOBO - GA-H270-Gaming 3 HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB 2.5" SSD I am trying to add - Crucial MX500, 2,5" - 1TB -

Hey everybody, I built a pc(link: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/rostabunny/saved/#view=W4wyWZ) I have been having problems from day one. First, i got a bad motherboard, and the screen would freeze up when i powered it on, with no sollution. That has been resolved, but now, I keep getting Blue screens of death on startup. It will never crash and give me a blue screen. I am wondering if the ram in incompatible(with the motherboard?) because it is the wrong speed. Here is the motherboard page: https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550 PG Velocita/index.us.asp#MemoryMS The Ram is: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/VENGEANCE-LPX/p/CMK64GX4M2A2400C16 One other problem is that if I try to change anything in my BIOS, it will not boot, then from then on I will not be able to get anything to come up on the screen, unless i clear the CMOS by taking out the battery and putting it back in. Does this seem like a compatibility issue? If so, do you have any recommendations for motherboards? I would like to keep all of my other parts if possible. Thanks in advance, Marcus E

Hello fellow techies, I encountered a problem with the ram that I installed. The xmp 1 frequency is defaulted to 3600mhz which lead to blue screens and crashing when gaming or under stress. - lots of troubleshooting and roughly 10 win 10 reinstalls so I had to manually set the frequency to 3200mhz. - thinking I've fixed it Then after a couple months of non bluescreen and crashing use I've noticed some slow down. After watching some good old tech tips I saw CPU-Z and wanted to check if the ram was working ok. leading to a question about the frequency of my RAM, which seems that task manager is lying to me or CPU-Z is incorrect. Budget (including currency): Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, AutoCAD work Other details: My planned parts list included: aorus ultra Z490i, i5-11600k, MSI Ventus rtx 3060 12gb, and 16gb corsair vengeance pro rgb 3600mhz / cl18. This is my first time posting here, and I was looking for some help. For context, I have been buying parts one at a time whenever i found good prices. I just got the motherboard and I'm planning on getting the ram and cpu within the next week or so. After reading my motherboards manual, it seems like the motherboard with the i5 cpu i was going to get only supports a max of 2666 mhz, and the cpu supports a max of 3200 mhz. So, If i was to go with the planed 3600 mhz kit, would i be able to use xmp and get the full 3600 mhz or would i be limited to the max speeds of the cpu / motherboard? Any other hardware suggestions or recommendations are welcome as well. Ive attached a screenshot form the manual, and some of the cpu specs that might be helpful.

I'm working on troubleshooting using cheapo minimal parts and I'm double-checking compatibility of boards & CPUs from eBay, and I'm watching auctions that expire within the day. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gNgX8r Combining an MSI B350 Tomahawk with an AMD Athlon 3000G or any other Athlon processor that uses the AM4 socket yields a corresponding compatibility warning as quoted below. Is this erroneous as I suspect? As far as I can tell they are perfectly compatible. Or is there something I'm missing? Any info is appreciated. "MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard and AMD Athlon 3000G (14nm) 3.5 GHz Dual-Core Processor are not compatible" Thanks!!

I have made a few post on here about my build so far. throughout all the topics i've changed a few parts. I know about the qvl of the mobo and have checked the lists but I still have some trouble with figuring out if everything is compatible with eachother. I have also tried looking up builds with 2 specific parts that I have in my list like, the mobo and the psu and see if I could find out that way. but that is also quite difficult. can somebody please check my list and confirm that everything will work because the compatibility part is the only thing that is holding me back from ordering everything. thanks so much in advance . Good Afternoon and Happy Monday Pt. 2! Reference present build: i7-7700k 32GB DDR4 RTX 2080Ti Intel Optane 900P (480GB I think) Now, I am thinking of switching to Ryzen (Ryzen9 3900X) but I am concerned that I won't get the full experience with the Optane SSD. Has anyone had any issues running this kind of configuration? Thanks in advance!

Hi. So i currently have a AMD Ryzen 3700X cpu and an AMD RX 590 graphics card, which i want to upgrade (my gpu). I was thinking about getting an RX 5700 XT, but it seems like Nvidia GPUs out-benchmark/outperform AMD GPUs. What would happen if I got like a GeForce RTX 2070 Super? and would it be compatible with my AMD cpu? or should i just stick to upgrading to the 5700 XT? because those Nvidias seem very high end in the sense that they produce a a lot of FPS and are just good for performance. Thank you for your time I'm new to this but i'm trying very hard to learn.

Hello, I just want a little clarification about ECC Memories since the browsing the web about ECC support on none server systems have conflicting points, and to gain knowledge to know whether the RAM I would buy would be just defective or incompatible in the event of it not booting/working. I have this budget system: CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G MOBO: Asus EX-A320M Gaming RAM: 8GB DDR4 2666MHz CL16 HyperX Fury (Had 16GB but I gave the other stick to my friend, yeah just had to mention that) GPU: RX 580 4GB Then I found some great deals on FB Marketplace: 1. A 32GB DDR4 single stick ECC memory for only approximately $40 converted from PHP 2. and a 32GB Kit 2x16GB for approximately $80 converted. ------------------------- 32GB RAM: MICRON 32GB PC4-19200 DDR4-2400T-R REGISTERED ECC 2RX4 CL17 288 PIN 1.20V MEMORY MODULE ( PC4-2400T-R ) MANUFACTURER: MICRON PART NUMBER: MTA36ASF4G72PZ-2G3B1IK COMPONENT DENSITY: 32GB PRODUCT BUS TYPE: PC4-19200 COMPONENT SPEED: DDR4-2400T-R MODULE SIGNAL TYPE: REGISTERED ERROR CORRECTION CODE ( ECC YES COMPONENT RANK: 2RX4 CAS LATENCY: CL17 PIN COUNT: 288-PIN VOLTAGE: 1.20V ------------------------- 16 GB RAM: 16GB 2Rx4 2G x 72-Bit PC4-2133 CL15 Registered w/Parity 288-Pin DIMM MANUFACTURER: KINGSTON PART NUMBER: KVR21R15D4/16 COMPONENT DENSITY: 16GB COMPONENT SPEED: DDR4-2133 MODULE SIGNAL TYPE: REGISTERED ERROR CORRECTION CODE ( ECC YES CAS LATENCY: CL15 PIN COUNT: 288-PIN VOLTAGE: 1.20V ------------------------- Things I understand (I think I do) so far from browsing around: - You cannot mix Unbuffered and Buffered - Buffered/Registered memory has a register between the DRAM itself and Memory controller - All Ryzen supports ECC unofficially, still depends to the board manufacturer, though but the ASUS site states that ECC Memory (ECC Mode) support varies by CPU. (I guess the board itself does support it?) Things I'm uncertain about: (Actually, everything written in this forum post pls help) - If the motherboard only supports un-buffered memory, will using a buffered memory run the ram as un-buffered and work just like a normal un-buffered RAM would or will it not post at all? - Some motherboard that supports ECC do work with ECC RAM but does not use the ECC function. - What is the difference of Buffered to Registered and Unbuffered to Unregistered? Some sources say they are the same, some make it seem they are different so idk anymore. Some notes: - My current RAM struggles on games like Rust and COD Warzone with Rust crashing to desktop from loading (used to work but stutters) and Warzone having immense stutters in-game (RAM being maxed out). - I don't really care about ECC, I just want to know if it'll boot. - I understand I'll lose a bit of FPS on going down from 2666MHz to 2400 or 2133 but I think it's too small that eliminating the stutters would be much more practical. (DDR3 vs DDR4 has very little difference in terms of gaming right??) The overall question/s: Will it boot? Is it a good idea? Sources used: (Didn't include numerous random forum posts aaaaaaaaah) Buffered vs Unbuffered - https://pediaa.com/difference-between-buffered-and-unbuffered-ram/#:~:text=The%20main%20difference%20between%20buffered,stands%20for%20Random%20Access%20Memory.&text=DRAM%20is%20fast%20but%20not%20as%20fast%20as%20SRAM. 32GB RAM - https://www.itcreations.com/product/86508 16GB RAM - https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR21R15D4_16.pdf

Hi everyone, I recently got a great deal on an Asus M.2 X16 V2 card only to realize my 7700K/Z270 combo isn't supported as I need PCIE Bifurcation. Asus' own website lists a couple of compatible motherboards but I believe those are only the ones available during the launch of this expansion card. There is a little table all the way down on Z490 but I don't really understand that one... So is it safe to assume anything newer since then and/or anything with PCIE bifurcation will support this Hyper card? I really couldn't find anything else about compatibility with newer motherboards. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I've recently looked into reviving my old, unused for a couple of years now, system. The mobo is GA-M56S-S3 from Gigabyte (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-M56S-S3-rev-1x/support#support-cpu) and when I looked up the compatible CPUs for it I was quite surprised to find that according to the list of supported CPU-s I can fit a quad core in it. I'm most interested in a Phenom II X4 955, since that looks like the most powerful chip I can use, and it's quite frankly dirt cheap and plenty for what the system will be doing. Problem is the deal I'm most intersted in is one for a Black Edition (unlocked) of this chip, which is technically rated at an 125W TDP, as opposed to do 95W of the standard version. And that is not supported according to the list. I suppose that does make some sense since overclocked chips need more power which the mobo in question is unable to deliver. Here's the question though, will the BIOS lock me out of using the unlocked version? And while we're at it, perhaps I could actually go for the more powerful Phenom II X4 975?
