I've just bought a second M.2 PCIe SSD, installed it and my system isn't recognising it. The new M.2 I have is the Firecuda 530 and I've just noticed it's a gen4. Does this mean it is not compatible with my motherboard? I haven't tried putting the new M.2 in the slot my old one is in yet, will that cause me booting issues? (I'm not the most clued up as you can see). Any help appreciated, thank you

I had my PC built about 6 years ago on a budget and I'm looking to get another year or two out of it before I buy a new one. I've come to the conclusion that what's mostly holding it back is low memory and so I started looking up what it is I have and what I might need to upgrade it. So the board I'm working with is an MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, and it's currently fitted with 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM. Thankfully MSI still has a list of components that my motherboard is compatible with but that list is very long and searching model numbers in Google is painful and often fruitless. I've only recently been getting into the nuts and bolts of PC components as Linus's videos have inspired me that anyone can understand and build computers, at least at a high level. Now that the background is finished, if someone could answer a few questions to ease my suffering a bit I'd appreciate it. 1) Am I over-complicating this and basically any DDR3 will run on my board? 2) Is there an easier way to search for compatible RAM sticks? 3) Is it significantly better to go 2x8GB over 4x4GB? The latter is cheaper overall from what I've found so far, even if I have to replace the memory I currently have.

Hi All, I've been away from PC building for a little while now but as my Motherboard has broken after 8 long years I've decided to look into upgrading my system. In summary, I want to replace the motherboard and CPU but due to the current GPU shortage I want to keep my current Graphics Card (R9 270X.... I know, Bottleneck much) and upgrade this in the future when GPU pricing returns to normal. List of current components for clarity: CPU: FX8350 Black Edition Mobo: M5A99FX Pro R2.0 (Broken) GPU: Gigabyte R9 270X OC PSU: Corsair CS750M RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4gb Storage: 1TB WD Blue 120GB Samsung SSD (Boot Drive) 250GB Samsung SSD Monitor: ASUS Pro Art something.... (Good colour and depth but not a gaming monitor and only 60 Hz) I would be looking to upgrade to a Ryzen CPU and corresponding motherboard. The components I have specifically looked at are Ryzen 5 5600X and Gigabyte B550 AORUS Pro AC. My main question is: Will my current Graphics Card work with these new components? I know that its a severe bottleneck but there are certainly plans to upgrade the GPU when prices are more normal. Secondary Question: Would it be worth upgrading the storage and RAM as well? DDR4 and M.2 have entered the main stream since first building my PC and I think I'd like to try and take advantage of this. If this seems like a good idea, are there any specific products that would work best with the system or that you recommend? Any other suggestions are warmly welcomed!! (P.S I have checked the Motherboard with another CPU and the same "no Post and Red CPU light" error occurs.) Budget (including currency): £400-£700 For new components (CPU Mobo RAM Storage) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Dota, CSGO, Total War, Valheim. General Gaming and Engineering Software. Other details: Looking to buy as soon as possible.

Most games I play such as: Rocket League, GTAV, Halo MCC, Psychonauts 2. Do just fine. High FPS with little to no work load. My cpu is quite old and I've been wanting to upgrade it but I can't seem to find a good enough cpu that'll fit a LGA 2011 socket. Hello everyone. I'm not sure if this belongs in the Graphics Cards category or in the software category. If it should be moved then of course, please move the thread. I have been helping a friend who bought a new PC get Age of Empires Online to run, but they were having problems with doing so on their RX 6600. And to spare the details, basically the company says the card works fine when they tested it on a "modern game", so they believe the game just must be old and not like the newer GPU. So I need to figure out if that really is the case, which I do not think it is because it runs fine on my 2070 Super (which is nvidea, not amd, I know. But still). Also the game isnt that old. How can I go about checking this? The game seems to run on DirectX 9 (ProcessExplorer shows it hooks into D3Dx9_40.dll, at least). It also has prerequisites of vcredist/C++ Redist, and the .NET Framework. Here is the CanYouRunIt page for the game. From what I can see, everything that page lists does suggest that it's compatible. I did all I could to make sure it wasnt a software issue apart from a fresh installation of windows. (Which I still might try to convince him to let me try). He'll be spending money based on what I suggest he does so I really dont want to steer him wrong. He already paid for the PC parts, so he cannot swap the 6600 out for another GPU unless he manually sells it. By the way, for Age of Empires Online, it's playable due to the Celeste fan project in case anyone asks. I tried to include all helpful information I have but I can add anything anyone needs. I'll be following the thread closely. Thank you to anyone who is willing to help!

Recently I've upgraded from this i3-9100F to a i7-9700. My current setup is equiped with a graphics card already but I was puzzled when I tried to look for driver updates for the integrated graphics and both Windows and Intel said there were none, the onboard ports don't give out any signal too. I've looked for it on Aida64 and found nothing. Could it be that my motherboard does not support this integrated graphics chip? TUF B360M-PLUS GAMING/BR GeForce GTX 1650

So I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but my friend gave me their acer pre-built with a i5-9400h, socket FCBGA1440. I was wondering if that would be compatible with your typical LGA 1151 motherboard if someone wanted to upgrade the motherboard?

Hey guys, I currently purchased a case Asus TUF GT501 and I wanted to know if it is compatible with the Asus ROG Strix LC 240 RGB AIO. The reason I ask this is that according to pcpartpicker the case and the AIO are not compatible (see screenshot), however this case supports up to 360 mm AIO LC coolers, so I was wondering if any of you guys know anything about it.

Hi. I’m in the market for a home nas for centralizing all my data, for my wife and myself. I’m evaluating between a DIY solution with TrueNAS or a Synology. I have made several build comparisons and the Synology DS920+ always pulls ahead for better pricing including 4x 4TB NAS drives, I’m almost sure I’m doing something wrong but it doesn’t matter for now. I have a quick doubt about accesories and TrueNAS compatibility. Is there any chance to use with TrueNAS any 2.5-10 Gb ethernet adapters (PCIe or either USB) and any GPU for faster Plex hardware transcoding? Thanks.

I'm installing DDR4-3600 Mhz 2x8G on a Asus b150 gaming with a i7-6700. Looking online it seems like both CPU and MB support DDR4-2133. I've fried a CPU's memory controller in the past so I'm asking here to double check. Also IIRC 2133 is only achievable with XMPP, I'm assuming it's safe to enable no matter how old the hardware is right? or should I keep XMPP disabled and go with the base Mhz? Thanks

Was building my first desktop when the whole graphics card issue surfaced … now that I’m stuck without one, how long can my components last? Considering that I have not remove them from their boxes. Also, over at my side, 1650s and 1660s are widely available but I don’t know if they can outperform my laptop with a 2060 super. My setup consists of a X570 Aorus Elite Wifi and Ryzen 5 5600x

Hello to everyone. Does someone know if there is any "64 GB (2 × 32 GB), 3600 MHz, CL16" (or CL ≤ 18) memory kit really compatible with a combination of a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and a GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI motherboard? Currently, with a Patriot Viper 4 Blackout PVB464G360C8K kit (2 × 32 GB, CL18) set on XMP 3600 MHz the Windows memory diagnostic takes over 24 hours and errors show up at the end. Thanks for any suggestion.

Hello all! - (TLDR down below) I come here after a tone of my own personal research to try find the answer as well as confirm. Basically I have a much much older system. It was running beautifully fulfilling all my needs for all those years until a couple of sticks died. So basically I'm on only 4 gig's of ram (yeah I'm one of those 100 chrome tab peoples so life is hard atm aha). After it died, i checked my manual and went out to buy some new DDR3 ram, seeing there where plenty of options available I brazenly went with some Kingston (KVR16N11/4) sticks that matched all the compatibility requirements of my motherboard. Assuming ram would be the easiest part to replace I went ahead installed the sticks only to be greeted with no post. I went through all the troubleshooting options, updated my bios etc, still no post, long story short, I returned them (luckily). So now I'm out and about doing even further research to absolutely try and make sure the next set of sticks I get work. Before people flame me for getting a new system, I am currently in the process of saving money to get a sweet new pc . Unfortunately I don't have cash to splash. Boy would I love to be the winner of one of those ROG RIG episodes. All that ROG gear looks so sweet. I have a ASUS Rampage III Formula with a Intel core i7 950. Currently running 2x (KVR1333D3N9/2G) which have lasted since my pc's birth "knocks on wood". The ram that I'm really keen on buying are these, which also my local pc stores have in stock, but I don't know enough to be certain. And I want to make sure as they are difficult to return if at all. pcpartpicker and a couple other websites say they are compatible but I don't know how reliable those websites are. Buy G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3 | Memory | Scorptec Computers G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB), PC3-10666 (1333MHz) DDR3, Ripjaws X, 9-9-9-24-2N, 1.5V, Dual Channel Kit I've come across a lot of similar g skill sticks with slight variations in the model for example gbrl instead of gbxl. Upon research couldn't find much info on difference other then just a difference in the head spreader as well as the RL versions being better for older mobos like mine over the XL but I'm not 100% certain on the info I found, otherwise these sticks look very promising. I've also read g.skill is a really good brand. So I've come here hoping I can get some sound advice, perhaps there may be some peeps familiar with the board or memory. Any information at all is appreciated. Thank you TLDR: Trying to find memory compatible for my motherboard before I make another silly purchase. ASUS Rampage III Formula - Intel Core i7 950
