It's been bothering me, I just bought a pc (pre owned pc) with a Ryzen 5 3400G It runs great but I plan to get a gpu to match my monitors refresh rate, but I'm not sure if my power supply (Corsair CV450) can deliver the full potential of the Rx 580, and Im worried it wouldn't be comaptible Specs: 16 Gb Ram Ryzen 5 3400g Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite Corsair CV450 Please help!

Currently: Asrock x370 Taichi, newest BIOS Ryzen 5800X 2x8GB CL14 3200 RAM Since the newer Zen chips have a far better memory controller nowadays, what do you think the likelihood is that I can get 2x32GB CL16 3200 RAM working on this motherboard? QVL's worthless since they haven't updated the memory QVL for some time. I already bought some Mushkin Redline 3200, a 2x32GB kit with 16-18-18-38 timings, but I'm curious if anyone else already knows if this has a chance at working or not.

I want to upgrade my Motherboard, but I will not upgrade my CPU as it works fine and is enough for me. What specs to look at on the motherboard to know if it's compatible? On pcpartpicker.com I get a list of motherboards, many of them after selecting say that it has to run a specific version of BIOS or higher in order to work, but how do I know that? I thought that it needed to be the H310 chipset, but on pcpartpicker it suggests motherboards with other chipsets. So what gives??

Hey, new around here! Since Reddit is kinda dead at the moment i thought the best place for tech tips is here! So: Is it possbile to overclock and remove the power limits from an intel i5-12400F on a ASUS Prime B660M-A WIFI D4? If yes cool! but if no, are there any noteworthy motherboard alternatives (looking to buy a cpu/motherboard combo for my 3070 on budget) Thanks!

I have chosen: "asus prime z690-a" motherboard "intel i7-12700k" cpu "Noctua NH-D15" cpu cooler "G.Skill RipJaws s5 series 32gb 5600 1.2v" ram "samsung 980 pro" ssd maybe install another gpu card like "GeForce 3060Ti" later(not installed yet) the case also not decided on amazon from china mainland. My question are: [Q1] I wonder whether i can directly buy the psu of "Seasonic FOCUS GM-750, 750W" to satisfy following requests: compatibility with the components i have bought (supplying enough power or voltage to make them work best). use this psu within china mainland, which standardize the voltage of 220v, without any issues. [Q2] If there's need to purchase other cable/adapters/converters, can anyone give me some recommended these cables/adapters/converters links on amazon or just their product name to search for ? [Q3] can you give me some selection on my case to properly wrap all these things up with pretty airflow and transparent panel to see the rgb of motherboard? I'd really appreciate for your answers.

I cant find anything any where that can answer this question, what is the compatibility situation with these cards do they just work from laptop to laptop baring its the right connector, do the antenna wires matter that are already in place in the laptop? I may need to replace the one I have in an older laptop of mine, doesn't seem to want to work correctly (specifically the bt refuses to enable) also the card looks to have some damage on the bottom of the pcb so it may need to be replaced or it could also be ATLASOS disabling something that I cannot figure out. Regardless I am actually kind of curious about this any way since there seems to be literally zero information out there about this topic. just spit-balling/pre-emptively preparing for the need to replace it, if anyone has any info on this or has tried it would be great to hear about your experience or if there's any actual information on how these things work between laptops that would also be great cause I couldn't find anything on google.

Hi. I have i5-9400. I believe it has LGA1151 socket. I was going on Ebay, searching motherboards that have "LGA1151" in the title, and surpsisingly not a single one passed the "pc parts compatibility website" check (I've tried multiple PC builder websites from Google) Here are the motherboards I'm considering buying, are any of these compatible with my CPU? - ASUS H170M-PLUS - GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2H - ASRock Q77M VPRO My RAM is DDR4MHz 2666 24GB for 2 slots. Thank you!

Hello everybody! I have recently decided to upgrade RAM in my laptop ( Lenovo Y520-15IKBN ). I bought this laptop 5 years ago and it had only one RAM module installed by manufacturer - SK Hynix 8GB DDR4-2666 PC4-21300 SDRAM SODIMM. I want to by another 8GB ram stick so I can go dualchannel. Problem is no matter how hard I try I can't find same RAM module. I know there are multiple topics about RAM compatibility, but they're somewhat inconclusive. Here are my questions: 1. Can I buy RAM from another manufacturer (Kingston, Transcend, APACER, etc.) as long as they are same frequency, CAS latency and voltage, bacuse i read somewhere that most RAM manufacturers don't actually make their own RAM, but they buy it from SK Hynix, and than put some fancy label? 2. I found this module : SK Hynix 1x 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM PC4-19200T-S Single Rank x8 Module ( one that is in title). Would it be compatible with what I have, considering that although my RAM is 2666, my CPU actualy tops at 2400 ( screenshot from HWiNFO64) and i actually checked this on Intels official website. I know that if I install RAMs that are 2666 ( 1333Mhz) and 2400 ( 1200Mhz) that faster ram will be slowed to 2400, but does that even matter in my case, since my CPU (Intel Core i5-7300HQ) has Maximum Supported Memory Clock of 1200Mhz ? So, although my RAM is 1333Mhz (2666), it actually runs on 1200Mhz (2400, like the one i'd like to buy) , and although it's CL19 it is actualy running CL17 ( like the one i'd like to buy). 3. I can't find info on SK Hynix 1x 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM PC4-19200T-S whether is DRAM or SDRAM, since one i have is SDRAM. Does that matter in my case? 4. And finally: Why would manufacturer install 1333Mhz RAM in laptop with CPU that supports up to 1200Mhz?

Please tell me if they would be compatible. Thanks in advance.

Case: Matrexx 70 Mobo: Gigabyte B450m-ds3h GPU: Gigabyte RX 6800 master RAM: G.Skill Trident Z neo x 4 CPU Cooler: Gigabyte ATC800 Ive been planning to replace the stock cooler for my build and I want to go all gigabyte on my first gaming rig (ill upgrade mobo along the way I know its midrange) and so Ive been researching and my GPU RX 6800 with a length of 286mm will fit my case with a allowable clearance of 380mm, next is the ATC800 with a height of 163.3mm virtually fits my case with allowable clearance of 170mm and now I cant find a definitive answer if the ATC800 (RAM clearance of 43mm) will fit the mobo's clearance relative to the RAM especially that this RAM the G.skill trident has more additional height to it, I want to use all slots and I want to make sure the cooler wont get in the way. Thank you to those who may answer.

The CPU is not compatible but we let it be installed and do not remove it and use the flash button functionality, will the BIOS still be updated or is it necessary to remove the CPU and memory before USB based update of BIOS.

compatibility Graphics Card Compatibilty in Thermaltake Core P3
rafe_28 posted a topic in Cases and Mods
Hello dear members of the LTT forum. This is my first post on this forum so pls advice me if i break a rule or whatever. But now to the topic: I am planning on doing a custom watercooled build in the Thermaltake Core P3 Snow edition but idk if my graphics card will fit. Thermaltakes website claims that it supports with a reservoir and a radiator up to 280mm graphics cards tho mine is around 285mm. Tho i wonder if the 280mm is not just a approximate value since the same specification is listed on the core P5 which is obv bigger. If anyone of you has made experiences with that or maybe even has one on hand and can actaully measure it rn. Also what might be helpful for you: i am gonna use an CE 420mm EKWB rad and the 260 SPC Pump/Res Combo. My graphics card is an MSI radeon rx 5700xt Gaming X. Idk if i will be mounting vertically but ig i will need to if its like to only way it will fit idk. -
Hello! I'm new to the PC building scene but I have done a fair bit of research about the parts I chose. Could someone more educated than myself take a glance at the parts I chose and reassure me that they are compatible? I already have the 1070 ti so I am buying everything else. I appreciate any help!

So I'm planning to pursue my masters in another country and since I'll be spending quite some time there, I figure to build a PC. Instead of building everything from scratch I'm planning to reuse my 1060 and my hard drive + ssd. That means I'll only need to spend on a new cpu, motherboard, ram and psu (currently using i5 4460). I was wondering, after finishing the build and booting with my old hdd + ssd, do i need any special attention (like download drivers and stuff), or the program and games will automatically accept the new cpu and run normally. Thanks to whoever have the time answering this

Hey all, firstly I am unsure if this even belongs here, but I am planning on getting into mechanical keyboard building and was wondering if I could get some help understanding exactly what I am getting myself into as well as if the parts I picked out are even compatible. My main question is if the PCB, plate, case, and keycaps are compatible. Below I have included a list of all the parts that I have picked out with the purchase links. I tried my best before coming here to check to make sure everything was compatible but at some point I got lost in all of the information. I am not dead set on the keycaps but I picked this layout because I enjoy having the dedicated arrow keys, and would like to strive to maintain those as a feature on the board. I am also curious if there are any keycap recommendations that you all have, preferably in a Grey main color, with black and orange accents. Thank you so much! P.S Is the case foam and PCB foam worth it, they are advertised as at the purchase link for the PCB, but I am unsure if these add-ins do anything or are worth it at all. I have a Noctua NH-D15 air cooler and am considering upgrading to a Be Quiet Silent Base 802 (TG window, black) for my case. The dimensions for both cooler and case suggest that they are compatible. Was wondering if anyone is running this combo currently. I'm thinking of doing a Linus Torvalds inspired build at some point (though he used an NH-U14S and Dark Base 700).

Hi all. I am building a new home server and have the ASRock Rack E3C246D4M-4L motherboard and the Noctua NH-U9S cooler in a 4U case. I am trying to install the cooler to the motherboard, and when I go to put on the backplate, the bolts will not go through the holes around the socket at all. I tried pushing a bit but it seems like this should just slide through. Am I missing something? Is this cooler just not compatible? If so, how can I tell if a different cooler will be compatible? I don't really want to change motherboards because I want IPMI, onboard video, and plenty of SATA/PCIe and to support my Xeon E-2146G.

windows11 So is the Ryzen 5 1600 compatible with Windows 11?
Introverted Clown posted a topic in Windows
Hi I saw many lists of the compatible CPUs with Windows 11 and my Ryzen 5 1600 is not there. BUT. When I run the pc health check it says that it's supported. Which one is the real, or the pc.h.c means power wise is good? The other thing is that I don't have TPM 2.0 . If I install an external than I am ready? Thank you for the help to understand this.- 4 replies

Hey LTT folks! I've been shopping around for new components and was having trouble finding memory which is of a good specification to fit my motherboard of choice (when taking into consideration the ASUS recommendations). My question is, how strictly should I follow this if I'm looking for excellent reliability? I've been stung by this in the past where I've not payed attention to the list and ended up with a PC that was far from stable in games. If I find a good deal on a 32GB kit, should I go for it so long as it matches the spec of another similar kit which IS tried and tested by ASUS? Any info from past experience would be great. FYI - this is the board/list I'm referring to: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z690-a-gaming-wifi-d4-model/helpdesk_qvl_memory Thanks.

Does anybody know if this ram is compatible with the alienware 15 r2? It's called this, Crucial 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz CL22 Laptop Memory CT2K16G4SFRA32A. It's not shown on cruciial's website as being guaranteed, but I've had parts that aren't officially supported work before. Here's the link https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2x16GB-Laptop-Memory-CT2K16G4SFRA32A/dp/B08C4X9VR5/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=crucial+32gb+ddr4+ram&qid=1637971105&s=pc&sr=1-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUEhTTkkwMVdYRU5SJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTg2NTY3MjRCTkkyN0JCS0s3WCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTY4ODMzMzJGUjQ0NkREUjJRRCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= The other set I was looking at is called, Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Laptop Gaming Memory Kit 32GB (16GBx2) CL16 BL2K16G32C16S4B. are either of the two listed compatible?

So I'm starting a build with the R7 5800x that I got during Black Friday for $299 and I'm planning to scavenge most of my parts from my old pc. However, my old RAM was REALLY budget. I had a 2x8g 2400mhz or something by Avexir where one of the sticks gets read by the system but can't even be used lol. Anyways I was looking at getting new kits and stumbled upon Corsair Vengeance rgb pro 32g 3600mhz C18 kits that seemed decent for its' price (SKU: CMW32GX4M2D3600C18). But after I got it, I did some research and found that this kit isn't included in a lot of the compatibility lists out there and also lack the "Optimized for Ryzen" label I find on other kits. So it got me worried about compatibility cuz I also heard that Ryzen 5000 series cpus are not so tolerant with unsuitable ram. On top of that, I also found the CMW32GX4M2Z3600C18 (Notice how the "Z" replaced "D" before clock speed), which, on Corsair's website, stated it was made and optimized specifically for Ryzen 5000s. I couldn't find any information on how much of a difference there is between the D and Z variants, or even anything at all. The most relevant information was from a Reddit post saying the only difference is default non-overclocked clock speed, which is being ramped up for the optimized version. rn I have the normal "D" version AND ordered a "Z" variant shipping over in a couple of days, but I wonder if anyone here knows how Corsair naming works or what the actual difference is between these two, and which one I should use. Heres some extra information: RAM that's hella confusing: I have: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32g (2x16) 3600mhz C18 Memory kit SKU: CMW32GX4M2D3600C18 ver: 4.33 (According to other forums should be some sort of Samsung die) got it for ~135bucks (Bestbuy) I Ordered: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32g (2x16) 3600mhz C18 AMD Ryzen Memory kit SKU: CMW32GX4M2Z3600C18 idk version ordered it for ~150bucks (Amazon) My *Planned* build: R7 5800x ROG Strix B450-i [old] (Im had an itx) coolermaster 240 aio [old] coolermaster masterwatt lite 550 [old] (I forgot the legit name cuz I don't have my old pc with me atm) some kinda of 3060 that I'll figure out later (I had a dataland RX590 thats crashing a lot) Samsung 980 evo plus 1TB [old] NZXT H210 Plz someone help me I've spent the last couple of days just searching online for this crap my brain hurts I just wanna know what would work and what wouldn't... and why Corsair's naming is so confusing xd

Hi folks, Looking at upgrading my CPU (Ryzen 7 1700x) and RAM (16G G.Skill SK Hynix) but wanted some clarification before I went ahead with it. Based on my MOBO manufacturers website (MSI x370 SLI PLUS - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X370-SLI-PLUS/support#support-cpu), there are RAM compatibility requirements based on the CPU not just the MOBO. I'm planning on getting a 3000 series Ryzen and confident that will be compatible MOBO (after a BIOs update) but will I also have to get RAM that is specifically on the manufacturers website? Cheers!

Hello everyone, last month I build my first PC and started with 32 GB of Trident Z Neo 3600 CL16-16-16-36 memory (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839473/F4-3600C16D-32GTZN-Overview). Last week I got myself a second kit, but couldn’t get it running at 3600 MT/s). Now I am looking into buying a complete 64 GB Kit and for my mainboard. ASUS does list compatibility for a few Trident Z Neo 4*16 GB kits (https://rog.asus.com/de/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x570-e-gaming-wifi-ii-model/helpdesk_qvl_memory) with the fastest one being this: https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562840280/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZNCTrident-Z-NeoDDR4-3600MHz-CL16-19-19-39-1.35V64GB-(4x16GB) This kit does have 16-19-19-39 timings. But G.Skill does have a 4*16 GB CL16-16-16-36 kit (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839857/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN) that they claim works with the Strix X570-E Gaming (ASUS even says themselves that it dies work with the X570-E and Matisse CPUs: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING/AMD_Matisse_for_ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING_DRAM_QVL_20190912.pdf (page 33)). Does anyone on you use this particular 64GB CL16-16-16-36 kit successfully with an ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II? And why should it work with the normal X570-E but not with the passively cooled X570-E Gaming WiFi II? Tl;dr: ASUS says a 64 GB G.Skill 64 GB CL16-16-16-36 kit (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839857/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN) is not compatible with the ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II. But G.Skill says it works with the Strix X570-E Gaming. Can you say if it will work or are you even using this kit successfully? Thanks a lot to everyone for your help!
