Hello, I searched the forums and the broader internet but couldn't find a good comparison of an M3 Max vs an equivalent Intel or AMD processor. A lot of the comparison sites just don't have comparative fields for Apple vs Intel processors. (Aka price to performance calcs). Can anyone point me to a good Intel or AMD processor that would be on-par with an M3 Max chip? I certainly don't need an Intel Core i9-14900k, but I am looking forward to using a proper Desktop class processor. I have not built a computer for about a decade. I currently have a 16" m1 Pro MBP, and an m2 MBA for work. Looking to build a gaming, 3D modeling, and 4k video editing windows PC. I plan to game at 1440p and don't care about ray tracing. I won't be playing many AAA games like Cyberpunk or Tomb Raider, more indy titles. So 1440p at 120hz will be my target monitor. Perhaps a second monitor at 4k with great color accuracy but a low refresh rate. Thank you!

Hi guys, I need help from you! So in some time I am gonna buy a new laptop and I only have two choices in my country, but I need someone to give me some advice on which one is better. Here are the laptops: 1. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JU-N3186) 2. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JV-N4072) The main difference between these laptops is the GPU and CPU. One has i5-13450HX and RTX 4060 8GB, while the other one has i7-13650HX and RTX 4050 6GB. I am quite knowledgeable about the difference in GPUs but I am not sure if there's a huge difference in CPU. I am a Graphics Designer and mainly I will use this laptop for work obviously, but I also play video games as well. I am working in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and sometimes in Blender (but only modelling and NOT rendering), that's why I am more thinking about the Core i5 with 4060 in it, rather than i7 with 4050, but it will be great if you could give me a kind of review of how much difference is in the CPUs. The price difference is so low that both of the laptops are in my budget. Just remember that I only need a decision between these two laptops, don't list me other laptops that are "better" and cheaper, these are the only laptops that are available in my country (for my budget) and I am not considering buying the laptop online (for example Amazon or eBay). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Hey all! I'm looking for a new laptop and have the chance to buy either of these at the same price [€800 NL] (spec sheets linked below). I'm a student, so use case is normal productivity tasks, some python programming, and taking notes in tablet mode. I like having the chance to maybe connect an iGPU down the line (both have thunderbolt 4). Their main difference is the processor, i5-1335U in the HP and i7-1260P in the Samsung. I'm a bit concerned about the thermals and built quality of the Samsung, but I think the i7 is better on paper. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated! Let's say that you got two graphics cards that are nearly identical in price and performance. Is it safe to say that NVidia seems to offer much more features than AMD? Am I wrong?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to pick between three GPUs: the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, and Intel Arc 770 as these goes within my budget and available in my country also rx6600 is available but less performance and similar price . I want to use my system for both gaming and stuff like DaVinci Resolve and Blender. Should I care more about VRAM or better performance? Any thoughts or experiences with these cards in gaming and content creation? Would love your input!

Hi all, I am deciding on a ssd for my system. After looking through a couple benchmarks, I have 3 potential canditates: Team Group T-Force Cardea A440 Pro 2TB @ $174 Kingston KC3000 2TB @ $199 WD BLACK sn850x 2TB -46% @ $207.16 On my computer, I'll be running virtual machines, doing video editing, gaming (of course) as well as programming and development. Which should I pick? BTW all prices are in Australian Dollars if they look weird.

I'm looking to upgrade the SSD in my laptop (Asus Zenbook Pro 15 ux535). It has a single NVMe gen 3 slot, which currently contains a 1TB intel h10 with 32GB intel optane. I'm looking to upgrade capacity, and to a drive that doesn't need specific configuration and slot bifurcation to accommodate an inbuilt extra optane cache. This laptop will be my primary machine throughout university (studying computer science), so I'd like to upgrade to at least 2TB, potentially 4TB if it can be found affordably. I'm currently considering the following: Samsung 970 evo plus 2TB (~£190) Crucial P5 plus 2TB (~£100) Crucial P3 plus 4TB (~£180) Open to other options, needs to be able to be purchased at a major UK retailer. The P5 plus us a gen 4 ssd, however, my laptop is 10th gen intel, so only supports PCIe gen 3. Additionally, how important is a DRAM cache for the reliability of an SSD (not present on the p3 plus)? This laptop will likely contain most of my work, so, along with capacity, I need to be able to trust that the drive won't fail. I'd appreciate advice on which drive I should choose; Ideally, I'd like to spend less than £120, but I can stretch for more for a 4TB drive is that would be worthwhile. Apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum.

Hi Everyone, I’m looking to buy a gaming pc, and am currently on the fence between the Nvidia 4070 ti vs the Radeon 7900XTX. I have heard that in non-RT titles, AMD is faster. Here is a couple of factors which keep me on the fence: I want to play at 1440p and higher I am interested in ray tracing I cannot buy a more expensive gpu The way I see it is that to buy the AMD would sacrifice ray tracing because of Nvidia DLSS and better RT on Nvidia RTX cards. A couple questions I have is: How big is the performance margin with FSR 2.1 and RT and how will FSR 3.0 change things? Which would be a better card for me to get, and should I wait a while for the rumoured 4070 super (releasing in 2023-Q4 to 2024-Q1)?

I'm looking to upgrade from my 1660 ti, and I'm curious what my best route is. I thought the best bang for the buck would be a 6750 XT, so I got one for a great price and I immediately encountered debilitating crashes despite following the proper protocol for switching to a card from the opposing company. Rip. I'm going to return it and just go back to NVIDIA. So anyway, I'm hearing that the 4060 ti is kind of a massive letdown and only a slight upgrade over the 3060 ti. But if I got one for $400, is the slight upgrade worth it for the 4060 ti over a 3060 ti at probably like $350? Would the 40 series be more future proof than the 30 series? Is it ultimately going to be the pretty much the same performance? Are there any third sleeper options I should consider?

For example, let's say that I want to watch some series on Netflix, does it make a visual difference between: Having the TV as monitor then opening Netflix in the web browser Having the TV by itself and opening the Netflix app I hope I'm making sense

Today I was about to pull the trigger to buy an LG C2 48" and use it as monitor, but I hesitated because I began to think about the actual OLED monitors out there... Why would you pick a monitor instead of a TV? (or viceversa)

I am buying a new laptop and there are two chips one with the 80HX and the other with the 50HX CPU is there going to be that much of a difference that a gamer might notice. I could all ways upgrade the ram later. Should I spend the extra money.

The Lenovo P500 supports both the E5-1660-v3 and the E5-1660-v4, the E5-1660-v3 is overclockable however the E5-1660-v4 has slightly higher base clocks and runs on a much smaller lithography (14 nm compared to the E5-1660-v3's 22 nm) which I heard can help reduce power draw and heat generated (which I figured may decrease throttling), both are 8 cores and have the same TDP, so theoretically, which CPU would be most ideal for a Gaming/Developing system?

Budget (including currency): Less than £80 ($90-95) Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games e.g. Cyberpunk 2077, Escape From Tarkov, Path of Exile, Microsoft Flight Simulator Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading my current rig (Essentially overhauling and replacing the entire build) and looking to replace the case to fit the new hardware. The planned build will include: GPU: Nvidia 3060 Ti CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i SSD x2 2.5" Samsung Internal SSD's (Will look to get more in the future) MB: TBD Based on Case PSU: TBD Based on Case General Cooling: Fans / Water is TBD Based on Case Im looking for case that others would recommend for the above "to be-build" as I'm mostly concerned with efficient cooling and space. The case will have to be either mid to full ATX and I intend to get a full ATX MB. I was looking into the Cooler Master TD500 MESH however have heard poor reviews from the community about CM in general and would just love to know what peoples opinions / experiences are with their cases. Any wisdom imparted would be greatly appreciated. All the best, M

question :-which is most important feature in GPU Brand, base or boost or memory clock speed of GTX 1660 SUPER OR GTX1080TI? I am planning new desktop PC ryzen 7 3700x or 2700x build for content creation video editing rendering graphics 3D designing architecture web designing and video streaming. for that some one advised recommended in forums GTX 1650 super or GTX 1660 super or GTx 1080ti . when I was searching to purchase some graphics card then found that different brands like gigabyte, Asus, MSI, zotac, inno3D, EVGA, Galax but found that many models of brands have different BOOSTED Base clock or boost clock or memory clock speed which one is more important in concern for video editing. As above comparison I have compared the base clock speed boost clock speed and memory clock speed which has been altered in different model of brands which I think will effect reflect in working of card which will boost in speed performance. Now queries in my mind:- Q1. Does brand Asus MSI gigabyte Zotac colourful matters while purchasing GPU in warranty services performance features component heatsink quality dies quality or any other concern which brand is good and which is not good to purchase Q2. Which Model in which brand is good as while looking to Boost in clock apeed in found generally that as in zotac AMP or PGF extreme is generally boosted in Asus Rog strix or TUF model and in gigabyte Arius or Gaming extreme and in colourful the Kundan model and in Inno3D Ichill X3 models are generally boasted in Base or boost clock speed or memory clock speed. Q3. Which clock speed Base Boost clock is good to be increase in any chipset of GPU. As I think base clock speed is minimum speed the GPU will start to work from and Boost clock is speed is maximum which a GPU can reach on load or can be overclocked to....as I think Base clock speed if increased in any model will give better performance........for example as in Zotac GTX 1880ti AMP extreme model have base clock speed 1646 MHz and boost clock speed 1759 mhz and memory clock speed 1659 mhz whereas in colourful IGame GTX 1080ti Kundan have base clock speed 1657mhz and boost clock speed in 1784Mhz and memory clock speed is 1376 MHz whereas gigabyte Arius water force extreme GTx 1080ti have base clock speed 1608mhz boost clock speed 1721 MHz and memory clock speed is 1404mhz. Q4. What is difference in memory clock speed and memory bandwidth whats clock speed and babdwidth effects in performance as GTx 1650 super memory clock speed is 1500mhz. And bandwidth is 192mbps. GTx 1660 super memory clock speed is 1750mhz -2027mhz And bandwidth is 288mbps GTx 1080 super memory clock speed is 1251mhz-1350mhz. And bandwidth is 320mbps and GTx 1080ti memory clock speed is 1376mhz- 1404 mhz And bandwidth is 484mbps Q5. What will type of VRAM in GPU DDR6 or DDR5 effect on performance of video editing rendering as 4gb 6 GB ddr6 in gtx 1660 super compared to 8gb 11gb ddr5 in GTx 1880ti Q6. As therotically base clock speed boost clock speed RAM memory size clock speed and memory bandwidth all together plays role depends on performance and speed which can be tested through benchmark or tests. Is there any website link where I can test the GPU related to video editing rendering 3d graphic designing base benchmark performance test. As I have seen but there is tests for gaming fps but not much tests for Video editing rendering applications. If any one can share the link for benchmark test for different brands to see the practical performance test. Q7. Do GPU effects in quality for video editing rendering means there any effect on quality of graphics quality or FPS while exporting converting rendering videos somewhere I readed about dropage of FPS with graphic card but no test or benchmark I found . Which parameterr feature if graphic card shaders TMU ROPs cuda cores should be most important for quality of output in video rendering export playback quality and speed. Any article benchmark kindly share the link opinions for the same tests benchmark. Q8. Any other parameter feature in your opinion should be concerned and most important to match in different brand models in content creation video editing rendering graphic 3d designing animations.like l1 l2 l3 cache..or any points. Q9. As i am novice in video editing rendering i used to do DTP graphic designing and want to learn and start with video editing skills for 4k editing as I am learning premier pro after effects 3d max AutoCAD revit as per your opinion Which GPU is good for starting learning video editing rendering nvidea or amd gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660 super or gtx 1070 or gtx 1080 or gtx 1080ti or rx590. As gtx 1080ti is ddr5 and have more 8gb or 11gb ram and more cuda cores but less base boost memory clock speed as. Compared to gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660super... I thank you and be grateful in advance for your precious time advice opinion and will be obliged for sharing your knowledge.

Hi, is it worth to have router , which can transfer more than 2000mbps . ? Is there any benefits in real world (not on paper) to have router which can transfer 3000 or more megabits per second? I am looking for new router and there are a lot of them with different speed and etc. And the ones with faster speed cost more, but not sure if there is a point to have router which cost more than 100 euros. thanks :)

comparison Need a gaming laptop under $1000
kavish_008 posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I need a laptop under $1000 (inr70000). My usage will look something like Ableton Live, autocad, coding and a bit of gaming (assassin creed , gta) I am thinking about getting a 3050 based but I am confused. Rn I am looking at HP victus , Asus tuf gaming f15 and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 though they r pretty similar I am really confused. YouTube reviews concludes that hp has a better typing experience (keyboard), Asus has better build, and Lenovo have 1 year accidental warrenty.- 3 replies

I'm looking to get a new motherboard to fit with some hardware that I already own in a new case that I'm building. It is spec'd out here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Badppled/saved/H3PQ6h I'm now down to choosing the motherboard and I'm thinking of going with a B550 itx board. However I'm unsure as to which one would be best for my situation. There really is only a few options to choose from and I've narrowed it down to either Gigabyte's or MSI's. Which one would you guys recommend? I realize that the Aorus one does not have a USB-C header but I don't care much for it since I won't be utilizing that on the front I/O. The price differences aren't too crazy but saving a few bucks wouldn't hurt if I could. Any feedback is appreciated

So, I just got my first PC and I want to show my sibling how much faster this PC is compared to my old laptop. Can anyone please suggest any software which can show visual difference in the CPU and GPU performance. I do not want to use any benchmarking software which just displays number in the end. renderTimingPixel.png
