Best Intel CPU/MOBO combo under $600. (All parts perferably through Amazon) I will be using this PC for recording and heavy video editing so the more cores the better. Also I am comfortable with purchasing used parts to cut some cost.

Hi guys..My cousin recently decided to get a new PC (mainly for every day use and occasional gaming) so I told her I would help her choose the parts and build it. Meanwhile a friend of mine is selling his AM3+ platform (8350,990fxa gigabyte mobo,2x4gb hyperx ram) for 200 euros (they cost 350 new although I dont think they are worth that much nowadays) Anyway the thing is that the parts are like new and im 100% sure no oc has been applied ever (they are not even a year old so there is still a warranty). My only concerns are : 1) Is the 8350 able to handle todays games with such a low single core performance? Will it be able to handle future titles? Will the 8 cores (4 modules) be utilized properly? 2)My cousin has already a PC with an i5 2310 sandy bridge which will be given to her dad..will she notice a downgrade in performance? (fyi she doesnt use editing software) 3)I was ready to search for skylake i5 6500 combos (costing around 300+ with a cheap..ish microATX board)would it be worth the extra cash? Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading..

Hello Recently, my dad was required to buy a new laptop since the GPU in his last one died. He bought a lenovo Yoga 2 (ultrabook, i5), and he's not really happy with the power that it delivers. So, he would like a seperate desktop for in his office/home where he can also store the data of his laptop since this only has 1 SSD. He doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money (max $500) but I think a Nas and desktop combination would be ideal so he doesn't lose all the data that is backed up when a drive fails. I have a laptop myself so I don't know much about building my own rig. I came up with this on pcpartpicker: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/z6znbv (I live in belgium so that's why it's on DE) - Is this allright if I want to make some sort of setup like in "Use your Gaming PC's Extra Power as a NAS Ultimate Guide"? - Do I need a seperate GPU for this? It's just gonna be used for business in general. (emails, microsoft office, browsing). - What would you recommend between the $500 - $800? Thanks in advance EDIT: I would like to have a similar configuration like the video. A hybrid VM & nas, apparently this CPU doesn't support hyper-threading, so this won't work. And unraid can't pass thru integrated GPU, so I would need that aswell. Is there any solution out there that can do this for a reasonable price? how does this look? I just need a good CPU that supports hyperthreading/virtualization PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor (€81.48 @ Mindfactory) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard (€63.44 @ Mindfactory) Memory: Kingston 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€79.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€44.00 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€65.00 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€65.00 @ Amazon Deutschland) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 5450 1GB Video Card (€31.36 @ Amazon Deutschland) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case (€65.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (€58.43 @ Mindfactory) Other: unRAID Server (€59.00) Total: €613.49 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-01-09 17:07 CET+0100

I just installed the Mpcie Combo III that came with my Maximus VII Formula. I figured it would be useful as a good backup, or in case I wanted to remove my PCE-AC68 PCIE adapter I am also using. It was extremely frustrating to install. Whoever designed it deserves a nice kick in the head. I had to manoeuvre behind my H80i GT and somehow managed to get it installed after toying for several hours.\ However, the next challenge was getting the horribly designed copper wireless feeds through the IO. During this, the heads of the connectors disconnected (very easily as well). I was able to reconnect them and everything seem(s)(ed) okay. Is this meant to happen? Would that jeopardise the effectiveness of the antenna it came with?

Hello Guys After finally getting the SG13B review on youtube (Big thanks to LMG BTW) I was thinking of moving away from buildn g my nas only to going for the SG13 with 3 tb of storage + boot ssd (Go ghetto mounting ), and having it as a NAS/HTPC combo, does anyone have any advice on this? Is this a bad combo, would i be better off with 2 systems? Has anyone got any experienced with this? this is the build so far http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DHfXqs

I'm looking for a headphone and mic combo for less than 100$. I have a fairly noisy environment and a fairly loud keyboard (A1048 for those interested). My primary purpose is gaming though I don't really give two cats about 7.1 hyper-super-sensitive-ultra-footstep-enhancing.... Currently I'm using a Razer Megalodon(I would strongly not recommend) and I'm told I sound like I'm speaking through a paper bag when I'm talking; when I'm not, it sounds like static to the point where people can't even hear their own game over my mic. Needless to say, I want a better solution. I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and I just want something that doesn't sound like, or make me sound like balls.

Hello everyone, So i recently decided that i would like to finally upgrade from my AMD Athlon X4 860K. I have decided I want to go with an i5 mostly because its the best option for the budget I have, and also I believe its a good cpu. So what I have to work to with is about $200-$250 budget and would also like the new mobo to be included in that price. I also understand that at the price I'm working with the core i3 or the G3258 would be more afforadble, but I really want a true quad core cpu (not that the i3 with hyper threading isn't awesome bc it is), but I defiantly want four cores. This PC will mostly be used for school (papers, some VHDL programming etc), Media streaming like youtube, netflix, hbo etc. and course for gaming. I'm not a HUGE gamer, but i do like to play a lot of action games and FPS games. I'm not so into overclocking either so thats not something I have to have. Basically I would like everyones opinion on what would be the best i5 (or other cpu) for my needs, while not having to pay more for features I probably wouldnt use. I hope this enough info for you suggestions, if you need anything else like the specs of all my other components just let me know. Thanks guys!!

Hi, I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with mounting a EK-XRES D5 Pump/res combo (https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xres-100-d5-vario-incl-pump) in an Obsidian 750D case. I was planning on mounting it on the motherboard tray where the rubber grommets are using the included EK-UNI holder. But after some measurement, I've realized that the existing holes are not far apart enough and I don't have an electric drill to drill an additional hole. I was thinking about using either one of this: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-uni-pump-holder-120mm-fan https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-uni-holder-50-70 The water cooling setup will be a front 280 and top 360 rad both 45mm thick. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you've seen me in one of my previous CPU upgrade posts I'll explain that I've given up on my F2A55-M LK. I want to get a new CPU with a new Mobo that's in the $200ish and down range. I want to play games like CS:GO, LoL, Payday 2, and Killing Floor 2. Also, I'd rather have a good CPU, so if I upgrade to like a GTX 750 it won't bottleneck it. Thanks.

So I'm moving into my new place and will have TWC as my internet provider. I don't want to pay modem renting fee. Want to buy my own but also want it to be a modem and wireless router combo. I also would have to get one with 4 gigabit Ethernet ports for my desktops. Any one know of any good models that would fit my needs and be docsis 3.0? THANKS!

Considering the G700s from Logitech was $58 at its lowest in Canada during boxing day according to pcpartpicker, this seems to be a pretty good deal seeing that you also get a mouse pad for the extra $3 PcPartPicker link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-mouse-910003584 Newegg deal link: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2176823 Edit: This deal runs for today only (February 6, 2015)

Hey Forum lurkers, So I have been a gamer for what seems like a century+ and even though all my close "irl" friends consider me this Nerd which is always sourced for all their tech issues, I am no where near taking the title of PC Junkie. (But I want it!) So anyway, I've watched my fair share of videos and always wanted to make my own build and finally I've decided to plan it out and prepare myself for what lies ahead. I'm calling this the "Blacklight" Build as it's the name I use on most forums and online games for a number of years, I've already gotten a few parts, including: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case Corsair H100i Liquid CPU Cooler SanDisk 120GB Extreme II SSD The rest can be found here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/T3pYqs The aim is to build a stylish Black and White themed build and highlight it with some White LED's which I've also already got installed in the case. Any thoughts on the parts I've chosen for this build? A few reasons for why I chose some parts over others, - MSI z97s Krait - It's the ONLY Black and White board I've found for an 1150 socket which isn't priced through the roof and OC3D gave it a nice review - Corsair SP120 Fans - I simply love the Black with white accented rings, I plan to put these onto the H100i and also use one as an Exhaust fan - i5-4690k, I guess I'm just a fan boy when it comes to intel and I'd rather stay away from AMD if possible, pure fanboy'isms - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Windforce - Once again, fan-boying nVidia a little here, had issues with AMD Cards in the past and so far nVidia hasn't let me down. The reviews for the G1 970 have made pick this, along with the glowing "windforce" badge, I think it would Suit the build fantasticly - EVGA 850 G2 - Fully Modular, fully black cables and the possibility of getting a cheap cable set in black and white from EVGA in the future for a good price but this is one issue where do i get the 750 or 850?! should I opt for the extra 100 watts for overclocking and the possibility of going SLI in the future? The other parts are purely aesthetic or just due to price and general reviews found on amazon or online by well known YouTube artists (i.e. Jayz, Linus Tiny Tom Logan), the build will be my own personal PC and used for multiple gaming and personal use on a 1920 x 1080 screen with the aim to get a 1440p / 144hz screen in the future. Considering that about £200~ has been spent on the Case and Cooler (bought these already due to issues with my previous case and Fan cooler), I'd like to keep the price down as much as possible. In the future I'd also consider getting another graphics card to do an SLI config and add another SSD but thats about it for this build. Thanks all and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback, Blackler First Minor Update Second Minor Update

Hello, I might soon be buying the HD700 headphones by Sennheiser and really need some advice for buying amps and dacs. The price I'm willing to pay is from around 200-300 euro's and I might be able to stretch out to 500, but only if necessary or relevant. I already saw some like the O2+ODAC combo or the Ifi iDSD Micro and the Modi/magni combo. Now I would like to know what is the best around that price range (or at least what you think is best) and I want a combo which is quite small, not necessarily like pocket-portable, but at least portable enough to take it with you and set it up somewhere else. Also I'd like to be able to connect my Iphone to it with the lightning cable. So if you know anything about other nice combo's or can tell me something more about the 3 I mentioned before, that would be helpful.
