Mac Inside: Literally. M2 Mac Mini inside Windows gaming PC
Avaviel posted a topic in Cases and Mods
Please note I'm in planning stage right now. Nothing has been purchased. Or designed. Budget (including currency): n/a / $400ish Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: iMessage, Halo, gulper.com Other details: https://valid.x86.fr/jgwh1z Corsair 4000D Big question for TLDR: Take out mainboard/use 3D printed case or put in aluminum Mac mini box into PC. I'm not really sure if this would go builds help, or the Mac forum or case mods. Thinking about it... case mods. The PC is already built, the new thing is adding the Mac. When MAC address started being filmed, I started watching it. I had android phones, and I had Windows PC. I’ve been on android since the iPhone 3G. But watching Mac Address, it made me wonder if some of the Mac things could possibly maybe work for my style. Also, my mom uses an iPhone. And it’s much easier to help her out, if I use the same thing that she does. Now, here I am, I own the iPhone 14 Pro Max (why, yes, I DID buy it four months before the 15 came out,) An iPad Pro 11 inch, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch. However, each of those have been bought on some sort of sale. For example, with the phone, I mailed them a $150 refurbished pixel phone to get the $1000 dollars off. For the iPad it was purchased at the military Exchange. No tax! $200 off! The watch is an Apple Watch 8, purchased open box at Best Buy. There are some features that I want to try out, having the whole ecosystem together. For example, how well does voice to text act on a desktop Apple device? Siri? What about iMessage? All of the things I’ve seen online about running any of those inside a Windows box, involves much complexity, or, I could dual boot. But I would end up spending so much time. Or, I would end up needing to spend over $1000 on PC hardware to get the same kind of performance that this will have, and I don’t even want anything really special , added to that, you have the pain of setting up hackentosh. (A note, I tried to spell that out, using the voice to text on my iPhone, this whole thing is being typed that way, and it kept on one to say Anything besides that word.) The M2 Mac Mini can be found for around $400 or a bit less used. It's set up as a desktop. I have three monitors. That made me wonder, why not put one on top of my PC? Or INSIDE my PC? So, I’ve been looking at expanding this Apple Empire That has been growing. I have a triple monitor set up and I would like to use various smart KVM software to manage that. But the ultimate goal of all of this is to install the motherboard or the whole box of and M2 Mac mini into my Windows PC. I’m leaning towards simply putting the box into my computer and calling it there. However, I think it could be neat to do as many of these things internally and cleanly as I can. Maybe 3d print a case for the Mac mini board to go into? It’s small enough that it could be placed many spots. My day job is CAD work, and I have 3d printers. For monitor, I'm thinking that I will have a monitor that is devoted to the Mac. Another option, I’m wondering about virtual inputs... I really need to look into that. Or just remote into it. Power: this is going to be one of the fun parts. I found that it seems to be simple 12V: Fairy simple to add those Wires to the 12 V Rails on a power supply? Part of this would be upgrading my 750W to a 1000W PSU I think, to be safe. I would set The Mac to turn on it receives power. Also, I’ll try to figure out what button that ties to it, need the pinout of those. A failsafe would be simply A button at the back. Networking might be a little bit difficult? But I think what I’ll actually do is put a LAN cable coupling at one of the PCI slots. Same with other cables. KVM. Hopefully going software. I’ll most likely also have a few USB extensions specifically for pcie slots? I wonder if they have PCIUSB hubs, but the part that plugs into the computer is a dummy And only uses power from the slot. But then, it accepts USB-C and splits that out. The Mac mainboard -
Hello everyone! Longtime lurker, first time poster. I am hoping for some recommendations for a good keyboard and mouse combo belkow 100€. Must be wireless and utilize only one dongle. I am looking for long battery life and good quality. It's puprose is not for gaming, but for office work - it will be connected to a work laptop and has to travel between work and home with me. So far I've used Legotech's M185 & K270 combo. I was not too happy with it (mouse is too small) but they were for free. Now they've given up the ghost and I need a replacement to use for a couple of years. Any tips or hints?

Right now at Newegg you can get an spectacular deal on Zen 4. This combo features an 8-core Ryzen 7 7700X, ASRock X670E PG Lightning AM5 motherboard, and 32GB of 6000MHz G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5, all for only $499.99 https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4538151 I found this deal via Videocardz, and they found it from PCPer's Josh Walrath: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-7-7700x-x670e-motherboard-and-32gb-ddr5-6000-combo-available-for-less-than-500 According to Newegg, this combination of parts would normally cost you $731.87, saving you $231.98.

Hello good people of LTT forums! I am looking into buying one of the Schiit combo DAC + amps. I currently have DT770 Pro 32 Ohm (had to run them ampless for a while so got the low impedance version) and a Steinberg UR12 audio interface. I have buyers remorse regarding the interface, since it is ugly, has a very annoying LED and spikes the headphones output whenever it turns ON or OFF. (Should have gotten the Scarlett Solo but it was out of stock at that time...) I am wondering will Schiit DAC + amp combos (Fulla and Hel) cause any spikes when turning ON or OFF? Also, is Hel worth it for the extra features it has? Another question on my mind, DT770 have a max input power of 100mW, so would I have to keep the Fulla below 50% (max power is 200mW on 32Ohm) and the Hel below 20% (max power is 1200mW on 32Ohm) or am I completely misunderstanding that?

Hi everyone! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, let me know if its not I am planning to build a mini ITX gaming pc and i have questions about my cpu and motherboard combo I was planning to go I7 10700 with ASROCK B460-ITX AC or the H410M-ITX AC also from ASROCK because they are in stock and not that expensive (as i save my money for the GPU) My quesiton is, Wich one of these is the best choice, and, will this be enough to power my 8 cores cpu ? (are the vrms not going to explode??) If not, do you have any recommandation for Mini-itx Boards compatible with 10th gen intel cpus and that have built-in Bluetooth ? ( i dont care about wi-fi ) I can also downgrade to a 10th gen I5 if the only mobo that would run the I7 are really expensive but i really wanted a very good cpu. By the way, cpu will be cooled by a Masterliquid ML240 V2, if it matters. I hope you can understand my question trough my terrible english! (love from France), thanks you in advance for your responses!

I'm going to get a pre built but I can't decide on a combo. I'm planning to get a high end cpu for long term, just because it's a pain to switch the out, and once the gpu shortage is done I'm planning to upgrade the gpu. Which one of those combos do you recommend and if you have any other recommendations, please let me know! Also, what about the Ryzen 9 5900x with the Radeon RX 6700x instead? Trying to find a good combo, but one that would let me upgrade my gpu in the future, and let the cpu stay for a good long while. Thank you!

I have been looking long and hard for a multi device keyboard and mouse that has easy switch between devices. Now I'm not talking about the ones where you have to change from both the keyboard and the mouse, which does not make a true combo in my opinion. Im talking about a combo that switches both the mouse and keyboard with one click, this makes going from one to the other very smooth. At the moment, I am stuck with something from amazon that does multi-device but you have to pick up the mouse and click the button twice and the keyboard once just to have it over. There are no advantages to having to click 2 to 3 times... So, is there a good keyboard combo maybe even a mechanical one that syncs the mouse and keyboard? I would like to be able to do this easily but without any kind of extra load on the computers, so no using soft solutions (like the one sponsored by LTT). Edit: Current responses are not options for me. I don't want to use synergy or any other apps, please try to understand this. why is it so hard to find synced multi-device keyboard mouse combos? All I want to do is switch both my mouse and keyboard together from just my keyboard, Im trying not to make it complicated. Should be something offered as a feature... This link was posted before so I know I'm not the only one asking this question. https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Device-Bluetooth-Jelly-Comb-Rechargeable/dp/B085ZQ417L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2SI49JYVO2CDR&dchild=1&keywords=multi%2Bdevice%2Bkeyboard%2Band%2Bmouse%2Bcombo&qid=1619484362&sprefix=multi%2Bdevice%2Bkeyboard%2Caps%2C262&sr=8-3&th=1

Hello All, I have recently rebuilt my computer doing alot of upgrades and have been left with a plethora of spare parts. The first thing I changed was the CPU and motherboard many months before I touched anything else and sold the old components. It was previously paired with an i5 6500 and a MSI B150A Gaming Pro Mobo. The parts I have currently are as follows: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 3gb G.Skill Ripjaws 2400mhz DDR4 NZXT Source 530 ATX Case Corsair CX600 Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo All I am missing to complete a second build (For Resale) is a motherboard and CPU. What I am looking for is a Mobo/CPU combo for no more than £150 which does not compromise on performance. I am more than happy to purchase second hand or new provided it comes within the budget. It must also be compatible with the above components. Any questions please feel free to ask. To give some context I am based in the UK so American websites are a No-Go If anyone could link some good combos which would give good performance with the above components whilst not breaking the budget that would be appreciated as I am struggling to find something within budget that will offer a good level of performance. Kind Regards, Millsy

hi , i just upgraded my internet to 1gb/s and i did a speedtest on it wired to the modem/.router combo they provided and i dont get some things , im connected with a ethernet cable cat 6 and my motherboard is b360 gaming plus with 1 x Intel I219-V Gigabit LAN controller and im tryning to understand why i dont get the full speed i am paying for ? like everytime i do a speedtest to a server closer to me ( New York ) i get the full speed but if i speedtest in Chicago or on the west coast like San Francisco i get a maximum of 640-650 mbs , so is the distance a major factor in my speed download/upload ? and if so is a cat 8 ethernet cable make things better ?

Basically the title says it all but ill guess i will make up a nice fairytale for context: Once there was a boy on his quest for good audio, He goodled wide and far and finally settled on a pair of Fostex T50RP MK3s. When they arrived their Earpads where flat and they sounded no good. Hmm said the boy "This is not as it should." With a brand new pair of Shure HPAEC1540 Pads they felt staggering but the sound was yet unflattering... Now that that menace is over lets get going with the real reason of this post. Basically i f***ed up and my current DAC + AMP solution doesnt have enough "oumph" to drive these bastards. Would love to have a Combo solution but im open to seperate solutions. Any recommendations? Funds are kinda running low so the cheaper the better but all rec's are welcomed, cheers! Oh and they need to be available in the Northern parts of EU.

After moving & dealing with that mess I found myself having to switch from CenturyLink to Sparklight. The speed increase is nice but I do miss my unlimited data, although that's not currently an issue. I'm renting one of their Hiltron modem/router combos & it's range is just terrible. There also aren't any QoS features & well honestly I'd just rather own my own, preferably by Netgear. Upon browsing Sparklights list of modems & comparing features I've narrowed it down to 3. Unfortunately none of them have QoS, apparently there aren't any cable modem/router combos that do. What all 3 of these models do have though is better range & performance when it comes to handling multiple lanes of data. I only have the 100mbps plus plan right now but may upgrade in future so that's why these combo units can handle 300+. What I'd love to know are all your opinions on them, I've read reviews but it seems there's very few experienced techy users on Amazon. Netgear isn't the best at listing the actual rated range on these models either except for the Amazon page for C7500 @ 3000 sq ft. Ultimate range or best suited for large homes is too vague for me, I want sq ft listings. I'd like to just be able to get the Netgear C6300 since it's the cheapest but besides range concerns. The only Amazon listing for it doesn't totally match Sparklights page. I'll include all those links below so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction because this is getting kinda overwhelming. If any of you have other modem/router recommendations besides these that could offer 1800+ sq ft coverage I'd love to see em, thanks! planning on doing something a tad jank, so wanted to get some opinions from those with more knowledge than me. I have a vega 64 I want to use in a secondary system but I only have a 500w psu with a single 8 pin. they recommend a 750w psu for the vega64, but those psus are pretty pricey. so instead, I was thinking of buying a second hand phanteks power combo device and a second 500w psu. this would cost me about 35%less in total, and give me more upgrade options in future. this would provide more than enough power in total, but it would mean Im powering the psu with one 8pin from each psu. would this cause me any issues? I would really appreciate any advice on this before I blow up one of my most expensive parts.

I upgraded my EK XRES 140 Combo with a 250 reservoir. I have it attached at the bottom of a big custom SSD cover made out of black plexiglass and as you can see in the picture the pump/res unit is bent slightly outwards. Now I am planning to fix this by attaching the unit with an EK Res holder which has 2 mounting poins. This will distribute the load to a larger area thus decreasing bending of the plexiglass. My concern is this; would the EK Res holder be able to hold all that volume of coolant as well as the pump and reservoir? Has anyone attached pump-res combos with larger reservoirs using this holder?

I want something with dual band, 1gig lan and 802.11ac , nice interface with good qos and parental controls would be handy. Thanks for your time

Ive recently been thinking about upgrading my desktop, which is currently running an AMD FX-8350 which is really lagging behind in most games. I mostly play Cities Skylines (Over 1300h) so i really need a new CPU to be able to use more assets and mods without being down on 10fps in a 40k city. I have around $500 USD to spend on a new combo and really unsure which CPU i should choose. i5-8400, R5 2600, R5 2600X, R7 2700, i5-9600K, i7-8700 and R7 2700X is the processors im trying to compare, but theres not enough benchmarks for Cities skylines and im really unsure if i should go for more cores vs threads. i prefer ATX motherboards as i like having more expansion slots. RAM has to be 16GB as i need it for Cities. ?

So i have had my eye on a Newegg bundle deal during black friday which has an Intel i5 9600k, MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC, and call of duty BO4 for $369.98. seems like a killer deal because without black friday pricing it would be $500.00 for those three components. Any thoughts would be appreciated, or if you have seen a better deal for similar bundles. here is the link to that page in the ad https://blackfriday.com/ads/black-friday/newegg/20
