Hey Guys/ Girls, I'm currently having my finals and I have to do many calculations as part of my CIE exams. One thing I have noticed is that I make alot of errors in typing my calculations into my Casio FX-82MS which is due to my being time pressured and the keys on the calculator being relatively unresponsive. I had this idea awhile back and figured I'd do it as a summer project, I'd like to buy some Cherry MX keys off ebay, a cheap calculator and numpad. Break it apart and create a mechanical key calculator, maybe with LED lights just for the fun of it, I have a pile of unused powerbanks which I could also open up or just power the calculator with a usb cable. Just wanted to see if anyone in the LTT community had any ideas to contribute or any tips. Pls No Roast

CH-9101011-NA K70 LUX RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard — Cherry MX RGB Blue

So I know this is a longshot, like a HUGE longshot, but is anyone offering a keyboard with linear mechanical switches that has individual backlit RGB keys, 18 (or somewhere around there) G/M-keys, and decent lighting/macro software? I'm assuming not. I want the old k95 but i can't get it new, only referbished, they have known issues with lights going out and problems with the g-keys, and the g-keys are on a seperate-looking plastic panel, instead of aluminum like the rest of the keyboard. If i can't find anything by the time I finish my next build I'll end up getting the old K95 anyway, because I do really need all the G-keys. What I REALLY want is for them to make a NEW K95 platinum that has 18 G-keys, that would be PERFECT. So if no one knows of anything else that can solve my problem then i'd like help in making a petition to Corsair for a new flagship keyboard.

Hi all, I'm looking for my first mechanical keyboard, and after watching numerous videos, I have settled on the Cherry MX Blue switches. I like the loud click sound of the MX Blue switches, and I like a deep press, but not enough to get finger fatigue. I do video editing and light gaming, but I need a number pad, as my dad is a banker. Due to the vast amount of mechanical keyboards out there I'm not quite sure on what to get. I have a couple of preferences on what I would like: Cherry MX Blue switches Corsair Full size (Not 10 key-less) Under $100 Available on amazon.co.uk I've had a bit of a look, but would like your opinion if you own one already. Hi , i have a problem with my logitech g610 , the q and tab are not working properly, when the windows start they work from 5 min to 2 hours , i know it is vague , but that is how it is, and after that they simply do not work anymore. If i plug it to another pc it is the same. I tried reinstaling the drivers but nothing. In my country we do not have luck with good customer service, so told me to sod off. I'm looking for some type of DIY fix if there is any ?

Hi, I'm trying to replace all the switches in my keyboard with the RGB silent mx cherry red switches. I can't seem to find any of the RGB version (someone on a post said there isn't a difference, but I don't see how the light would shine through an opaque switch) for sale anywhere. Can someone give me a link?

Hi! At first sorry for my English. I want to buy a mechanical keyboard, with brown or red switches (or maybe with blue switches, but i will try them once another, cause I can't choose it yet). I want the cheapest solution as possible. I want on my keyboard a numeric pad (I don't know if this is the right word to use, but you know guys, that part on the right with numbers :D) I was the happier if I get numeric pad, but don't get the arrows (like on the CM Storm Quickfire TK ). That isn't a bad thing if the keyboard has backlight, but if has, I want a red backlight (but isn't necessary to have any backlight). I thinked about the Kingston Hyperx Alloy FPS, or a Corsair Strafe keyboard, but I don't know if there is a better solution. Thanks for help.

How strong are Cherry Mx switches? I owned a K70 with red switches and it started giving me problems after a year. I think the cause of this was I traveled alot with the keyboard and the rattles and setting the keyboard hard down on the table. I own a K65 rapidfire now and love it but im really scared it will suffer the same fate.

Hello, I want to buy a mechanical keyboard with: Great build quality Cherry MX blue (or a good quality equivalent) Great looking RGB lights I was looking at the Razer blackwidow chroma yesterday at a computer cafe and I loved it! but then I came and saw there's a v2 -,- I don't know what to buy now lol I saw the k95 platinum but that one is very very expensive and it doesn't have cherry BLUE only BROWN and MX SPEED I also looked at the Logitech g710 cherry blue but I can't find it anywhere btw I live in AbuDhabi (near Dubai) not in USA Thank you for any kind of info you can provide on the subject

Ok, so I just got a new keyboard today, and wanted to know, what is the Most popular keyswitch on the LTT forum?

Am in the process of RGBing um my system and of course that means a new keyboard. I'm a casual gamer and occasionally stream or upload to YouTube. I don't like the clickyness that seems to be synonymous with most mechanical key switches to the point I keep a membrane keyboard hooked up as a backup. Now enough background let's get to the keyboards. I think I have made up my mind between the corsair K95 RGB Platinum (reds) or the corsair Strafe RGB (silent). K95 Platinum (around $150 through my office) PROs -Premium look and feel (with a big ol' corsair trampstamp right across the top :-] ) - actuall media keys -macro keys (i would find these useful) -RGB CONs -Price (its more expensive) -RGB is not as good as Strafe -not offtered in mx silents _____________________________________________________ Strafe RGB (around $100 through my office) PROs -Cherry MX Silents ( this is a HUGE plus for me I like the way they sound and might even consider throwing out my backup keyboard) -Even better RGB (I mean the RGB on this thing is amazing and I would feel confident calling it hands down the best RGB on the market) -Price (its less expensive) CONs -media controls are on function keys (I already sometimes have issues where 1 function key dose 2 things and I have to remap it) -no macro keys (I like these and on a high end keyboard would kind of expect at least a few) -looks less flashy (also has small understated branding no big Corsair trampstamp)

Does anyone have a recommended cheap black/red switch keyboard? Preferably £40 or below, can go a bit over though.

Hi everyone, I've been in and out of the tech world for some time now, but I'm coming backing into it again. Before I used to game quite frequently, now I rarely play more than 1 hour a week. Now I'm much more focused in work and I have been wanting a mechanical keyboard for some time now. I have been considering a Cherry MX Blue or Brown, but I think I'm leaning over to the Blues. I don't share a room with anyone so the noise won't bother anyone else. I've tested out the Blackwidow and those Kahil Greens are really similar to Blues(at least most people say they are) and the noise of those doesn't both me. I have been trying to find a keyboard with Blues for some time now, and I just can't seem to find the right one. All I need is a backlight, a Number pad, wrist rest and a non-gamery font. That's it, and it's unbelievably hard to find this. Can anyone recommend me a reliable keyboard to use over then next few years?

Hey guys, So I recently purchased a corsair K70 LUX RGB with cherry mx red keyswitches. I was switching off of a keyboard which had blues, I liked the tactile feel but felt they were a little too hard to press for gaming when i needed to quickly tap keys. I was unaware that reds did not possess the tactile feedback left by browns and blues, and I am looking to return this keyboard in favor of the K70 with Brown switches. I am wondering, what kind of fees would I be looking at to return it? It's only about 2-3 hours under use, and i have all the original packaging and accessories that came with it. It costed approximately $190 CAD (145 USD) and about 10 dollars for expedited shipping. Would I be paying for return shipping? any stocking fees? Thanks in advance guys.

i currently own a logitech g710+ keyboard you know brown switches and i think its finally taking a toll on my left pinky and giving me some tendonitis. i play games like rust which require me to hold the shift or ctrl key down for many minutes at a time and the fact the build quality on the wider keys is sorta sub par upsets me as since i have small hands my pinky has to awkwardly extend out and tap the corner of shift or control and as we all know the keys down just slide down easily like this. so im interested in selling t his keyboard now and buying a red switch keyboard for fps and my tendons sake. anyone know of a keyboard with this? you know like well built keys that down gyrate on its axis so much are firm yet still don't require extra actuation no matter where you press it? im aiming to buy anything in the 95$ range. thank you.

So the other day I bought a used G710+, some of the keycaps are broken and I'd like to find replacements for them, or maybe just replace them all. But I'm having a hard time finding a keycap set in the UK/IRL that are iso, black and translucent. Most of the ones I find are in the US or they're not translucent, or not black. I found these ( https://goo.gl/rb65fm ) but they are in the US and I'm not sure about the fully translucent look, especailly on a keyboard with only white backlighting. I though of buying a broken G710+ and stealing the caps but they're hard to find. Do ant of you have some advice on what to do?

Hi, I'm getting the Corsair K95 RGB. I do a lot of video editing but I also love playing games for long durations on the weekends. I play games of almost any genre and I sometimes type up long research papers. What type of key switch would you suggest for me? The Cherry MX Reds or Cherry MX Browns? I need something truly for all-purpose use. Thank you.

Well, after the third Logitech K800 has crapped the bed, it's time for a new keyboard! But I've used nothing BUT Logitech boards or years and now it's time or something different. I'm seriously considering a mechanical board but also looking at RGB ones as someone who hates RGB, why? So I can light it up as I can with my K800, white of course as I've looked into Corsair's software and it allows for complete white lighting. That said I am looking at boards like the K68 and K70....both available here in Canada for about $150-$200. Maybe even a K95 RGB Platinum, all that said though, interested in suggestions for something similar that'll last more than a year...I'm particularly hard on keyboards. Thanks to the hopefully incoming advice here.

I've been searching for the IDEAL clicky gaming switch. I love the feel of a clicky switch but I don't want to sacrifice in-game responsiveness. For those of you who have used the Kailh Speed Bronze, would you recommend it over other clicky switches (for both gaming and typing)?

So I just received the greatest gift ever, a Corsair Strafe mk2 with Cherry Mx red switches. I plugged it in and quickly realized the N key was ultra sensitive and would infinitely repeat upon triggering. Simply blowing on this keycap would trigger infinite N's. In all my research I see the general consensus is that dirt or some other particles get in the switch, but mine was fresh out of the sealed box. I'm not too sure what the exact issue is but I've already tried isopropyl alcohol and qtips. All of this is especially puzzling because out of my 4 mechs, this is the most expensive and the only one with genuine Cherry mx. Anything that could help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, friends. Today, I'm going to bring you a review of a rather, interesting keyboard, the DSI 90-key USB Multimedia keyboard with Cherry MX Reds. What makes this interesting, you may ask? I paid only $20 for this, new. For reference, to get 90 Cherry MX Reds, you'd have to pay about $31. This keyboard cost me less than the switches. But that's not all, the unusual qualities of this board don't end there. This keyboard has a 3 port USB 2.0 hub built into it, but it's not powered by just the USB port. The keyboard comes with a hecking power plug. The "wall wart"-style plug connects to the keyboard via a round pin near the USB port. This is, according to the Newegg listing, to provide additional power to the USB hub. Thumbs up for that, I guess? This keyboard also features dedicated volume keys, a play/pause key that I can't seem to get working and the Fn key, along the left side of the board. "But wait", you ask, "what goes where the Fn key usually goes?" Well the answer to that would be a 1u Windows key for, some inexplicable reason. The bezel around the board is rather large, and with those media keys taking up a row of the keyboard then everything's kinda, shifted over to the right; it was wicked awkward getting used to this layout. I repeatedly hit the Mute key on accident during my testing period. The caps appear to be pad printed ABS, but the ink used for the lettering is rather cheap. The N key in particular shows a lot of wear after less than a week. Since the keyboard uses a completely non-standard layout - seriously, not even my Kira is this non-standard - I don't believe that finding better quality caps will be easy. They are not very thick and will produce a bit of sound as the user types. As far as the typing experience goes, let me say right off the bat that I do not like linear switches. I prefer the feedback that tactile switches provide as I type, and since Cherry MX Reds are so light it's insanely easy to accidentally actuate keys you don't want to type. Cherry MX Reds themselves are particularly scratchy; it feels like I'm typing on sandpaper. They are not very smooth at all, although this can probably be rectified by lubing the switches. As far as I can tell these are genuine Cherry MX Reds, but based on this first impression of a Cherry switch in a while I think I'm better off with "cheap Chinese clones" like Kailh. Actually, the moment I post this I'm going back to my Box Royals because they provide a much more satisfying typing experience, in my opinion. Ugh. I have heard that linear switches are supposed to be "better" for gaming compared to tactile switches, because of their more instant response, but I noticed no difference in my performance when playing games on my PC compared to my usual tactiles. Now, the positive side of things is, because this keyboard is so cheap (as of right now you can buy it for $22 on Newegg) there isn't much risk involved with modding, compared to a more expensive keyboard. I'm not sure when I'll try my hand at it but I'm pretty sure I'll be desoldering the board and replacing the switches with better ones down the road. Although, as I have previously stated, I do not like linear switches, so I will likely replace them with tactile switches. Maybe then I can also find a better-quality keycap set. Oh, and for those of you wondering, the USB cable is non-detachable, and there are no flip-up feet on the bottom of the board. The angle, which is rather flat, is the only one you get. Better get used to it, especially if you want this to be your main board. The build quality is surprisingly good for a keyboard that costs this much. The case is plastic, and there's not a lot of heft to it, but there's almost no flex at all. I'd assume that a rather thick, strong mounting plate is being used to give the board its rigidity. I'd have to check to make sure of this but damn is this thing strong! I bought this board for laughs because of its absurdly cheap price, but instead I'm walking away from it impressed because of how good it is in spite of its price. If you really want a cheap Cherry MX Red keyboard then this is the one to get, because there's really nothing that you can lose considering it costs so little. In fact, I'd say that because it costs so little, there's almost no risk if you decide to replace the switches with better ones. Just be aware that doing so will void your warranty, but... are you really going to cry if you break a $20 product? You've got nothing to lose with this one. Nowie out.
